47: What Are You Doing
"What are you doing?!" Ryota yelled in response as he pulled you close to him; much to Midari's disdain.
"I reform the garbage in the school, beautifying it into its proper form. That's my job, given to me by the Princess herself." Suddenly, her lackeys began encircling the three of you and grabbed Yumeko. "The Beautification Committee is one of the organizations with the power to arrest."
"Wait--" Ryota protested.
"Take her." Midari commanded.
"Okay!" The lackey's responded quickly.
"I have lots of things to ask her. Lots of things!" Midari put her hand to her chin as she pondered her thoughts.
"Arrest her? You can't just--" He tried to appeal to Midari, but you could see in her eyes that she had already made up her mind. You narrowed your own eyes at her, wondering what exactly she was trying to pull.
"Take him while you're at it." Midari pointed at Ryota and suddenly, he had a bag over his head and he was dragged away.
Then, she turned to you.
"Princess. We were all so worried about you. What are you doing back in school without telling us?!" She scrunched her eyebrows together with worry.
"What am I doing? What are you doing? I was going to take Yumeko to Kirari." You crossed your arms and pouted. "I do not appreciate this."
"Have you been playing with that nasty boy?" She wrapped her arms around you and began leading you to her committee room, not wanting to waste any time.
"So what if I have?" You huffed at her question.
"Why bother with men when you have so many beautiful women who would treat you so much better?"
"He's much more fit." You shrugged. "And I like that too. Besides, I want Yumeko."
"We all want Yumeko, Princess." Midari sighed. "That's why you can't take her to the President yet."
"Oh? And why is that?" You narrowed your eyes at her again.
"If you take her to the President now, then that means that she could get expelled if she loses. You know how the Prez likes to play sometimes." Midari hugged you closely and inhaled the scent of your hair. "Don't pout so much. I'm trying to help you."
"You are not." You pushed Midari away slightly. "You're trying to get off and do not lie to me. That's what I don't like about girls. They always have ulterior motives. At least men are obviously always trying to just get off."
Midari looked away from you sheepishly, having been caught in her own lie.
"Sorry, Princess. I suppose you're right. But I still do want you to be happy. At least believe me in that."
"Let me guess, I won't even be allowed in the game room and I have to sit with the rest of the council." You rubbed the bridge of your nose.
"How did you know?" Midari smiled at you.
"Because I knew when I came to school today I made a mistake. So I figured 'how could my day get any worse at this moment' and I thought to myself 'seeing Kaede would probably do that'." You groaned as you explained yourself.
"Oh... hmm. Well, go home then. You're the princess. If you don't want to stay, then don't."
