LVIII
If you ever feel bad about yourself, just remember that I used to think Thingol and Turgon were the same person. 0_0. The only similarities that the two share are :
They are both elvish kings.
Both of their kingdoms are reffered to as 'Hidden' (Turgon's kingdom, Gondolin, was legit hidden. Nobody exept it's occupants knew where it was. Thingol's kingdom was called 'Hidden' because his queen, Melian, used her Maiar power to set up this barrier around it to keep evil things from getting in.)
Both of them have human sons-in-law. (Beren son of Barahir, and Tuor son of Huor.)
Aside from that, they're pretty different. Thingol is a Sindar with silver hair. Turgon is a Noldor with dark hair. They are very distantly related, (Thingol's niece married Turgon's uncle) but come to think of it, pretty much all the important elves are related to each other in one way or another. (I'm not kidding. Legolas and Thranduil are the only main elves that are not related to the rest of the clan.
See.)
But then one day, I realized... Thingol and Turgon are different people. O.O I don't know how I found that out, or when, but sometime along the way, I found out. And then Thingol went on to become my favorite character in all the realm of fiction. He is no longer that, but he is definitely one of them.
