Arrow ~ Fundamentals ~ Part Three
Ava's got her girlfriend's father's boss's back, Evelyn is a good friend (*cough* sister *cough*), and Mon-El reveals something about the future that has everyone up in arms (metaphorically speaking).
Enjoy the final part of "Fundamentals!"

"I beg your pardon, Agent Sharpe," Kullens began, sputtering a bit.
"Agent Watson apologizes for not being here," Ava stepped forward into the room more, interlocking her hands behind her back. "But after she received calls from both Deputy Mayor Lance and Captain Drake regarding evidence found that two of the city's highest ranking officials were guilty of being compromised by this Ricardo Diaz, she found it important to check out and ensure that it was not, as you say, a case of Mayor Queen forcing resignations because he wants to get rid of those who are investigating him being the Green Arrow. This," she held up a flash drive of her own, "is information Agent Watson felt relevant to share after reviewing what I investigated. I would like to compare it to the evidence Captain Drake has presented to the council."
The woman who had spoken up before glanced at Kullens, who looked like he was sweating, then extended her hand. "I agree."
Ava handed over her drive, and Dinah did as well. As the councilwoman turned her computer to plug in the drives and pull up comparisons, Oliver ever so slightly turned to the woman who had shown up. "Any relation to an Ava Sharpe mentioned by Sara Lance?" he murmured quietly.
"Whatever gave you that impression, Mayor Queen?" the woman murmured back, giving him a smirk.
Oliver bit his lip to avoid smirking at the phantom of Adrian Chase that sat at the end of the table. He wasn't sure how this agent was pulling this off, but was he ever glad she was.
The councilwoman's face suddenly turned to stone. "This data is exactly the same," she announced, turning it around. "But indicts one of our own as well."
"Who?" Ava asked, tilting her head.
The councilwoman glared at the now pale Councilman Kullens across from her. "Councilman, why does this show you accepting money from this Ricardo Diaz?"
"That is fabricated!" Kullens blustered as Dinah and Quentin stared at an innocently smug Ava in shock.
"Councilman Kullens was one of my contacts here at City Hall to report back to Diaz," Armand pitched in.
"And unless you would like to accuse the FBI of perjury," Ava turned to Kullens, "I would suggest you stop talking right now, Councilman. After all," she smirked, "I find it rather convenient that one of Diaz's payments to you was right after the council made its decision known to try Mayor Queen for impeachment."
Kullens' face was as grey as his hair now. "Ladies and gentlemen, am I correct to assume that this motion was put forth by Councilman Kullens?" Armand looked around.
"He was the most vocal for it," the councilwoman confirmed.
Armand's triumphant smirk was vicious. "Fruit of the poisonous tree," he declared. "Ricardo Diaz is a criminal, and while I was working for him, I had my law degree long before Diaz had me. Councilman Kullens put forth a motion from this criminal. That makes him criminal as well. That action in itself is illegal. Therefore, with no evidence against Mayor Queen, my testimony, and evidence provided both by the SCPD and by the FBI . . . quite frankly, why are we still here when there shouldn't be a case at all?"
Kullens had turned so many colors in the last few moments that Oliver was almost worried for his health. "I agree," the councilwoman's voice was ice. "All those in favor of no indictment?" All but Kullens raised their hands, and Oliver could have collapsed in relief. "I believe that concludes this waste of time," the councilwoman nodded. "Captain Drake?"
"Councilman Kullens," Dinah's voice was gleeful as she walked behind the councilman. "You are under arrest."
As the council's voices rose in outrage over Kullens, Ava turned on her heel and left the room, closely followed by Oliver and Quentin, the other agent still nervously hanging back. "Don't worry, Gary, we'll leave shortly," Ava's lips quirked up in a smirk.
"Agent Sharpe," Oliver began, trying to find a way to speak. "How? And why?"
"Actually, if we're using titles, it's Director Sharpe now," Ava told him. "I was promoted after the last director was, for lack of better words, pummeled to death by a gorilla."
"A gorilla?" Quentin repeated.
"A gorilla," Ava nodded. "Don't ask more details, I'm still confused. But as the Director of the Time Bureau, I correspond now more than ever with the Legends. Sara mentioned what was going on, and I thought I'd take a look into it. Imagine my surprise when I found out how many changes in history hinged on whether the mayor was impeached or not."
"My impeachment is that important to history?" Oliver blinked rapidly.
"Mr. Queen," Ava gave him a long look. "You, Ms. Danvers, Mr. Allen, and Sara are all extremely important to history, now more than ever. I was more than happy to help you." She lowered her voice, seeing the council disperse as Dinah led Kullens away. "And not just because I'm Sara's girlfriend."
"Huh," Quentin huffed. "Well, as far as 'meet the daughter's significant other' goes, you didn't do half a bad job making a good impression."
Ava's cheeks flushed. "Thank you, Mr. Lance."
"Please," he waved a hand. "Call me Quentin."
"And it's Oliver to you, Director Sharpe," Oliver smiled. "After what you just did in there, I think you can dispense with the titles."
"Ava, then," she smiled, extending her hand.
Oliver shook it, tilting his head. "So what will you do if the council decides to contact Agent Watson to make sure you're an FBI agent?"
"Oh, we'll be prepared for that," Ava smirked. "Just leave Agent Watson to me. It's the least I can do for all you heroes do for the multiverse." She snorted quietly, scratching the back of her head. "Still weird to believe, and I'm the director of a time travel agency."
"Believe me, I kinda miss the days when it was just vigilantes with medieval weapons," Quentin snorted.
"Yeah, but then I wouldn't have Kara," Oliver smiled wistfully.
Quentin sighed dramatically. "You and your fiancée."
Ava chuckled. "It was a pleasure meeting both of you."
"It was great meeting you, too, Ava," Oliver smiled.
Ava shook Quentin's hand, too, then turned around. "Let's go, Gary."
The man hesitantly waved, then scampered after Ava as she disappeared down the hall. "Well," an oily voice from behind said, and Oliver groaned as Adrian appeared in his line of sight. "That didn't turn out the way I expected."
Quentin side-eyed where Oliver was looking as Armand came out. "Have you still got that Vertigo crap in your system?" he asked.
"What?" Armand asked sharply.
"Yep," Oliver deadpanned, glaring at Adrian.
"You just went in there and faced the council while on Vertigo?" Armand hissed.
"Blame Kullens," Oliver told him.
"My God, Oliver," Armand shook his head. "You're insane."
"What did I tell you?" Adrian smirked.
"You'd get along really well with who I'm hallucinating right now," Oliver sighed.
"You never did have a great track record when it comes to hiring D.A.s," Adrian said cheerfully.
"It's Chase?" Quentin narrowed his eyes.
"Yep," Oliver nodded sullenly.
Quentin nodded thoughtfully. "Here's an idea," he looked at him. "I'll handle things here. You go back and get well. Get that Vertigo out of your system. Who knows? You could hallucinate Kara to punch him for you."
Oliver couldn't help but laugh at that. "I might try that."
"Seriously, Oliver," Armand looked at him. "Get that out."
"I will," Oliver nodded, extending his hand. "Thank you so much, Sam."
"Thank you for all you've done for me," Armand shook his hand. "I didn't deserve any of it, but at least I could help."
"You're on the right track now, Sam," Oliver told him. "Just stay there."
"I will," Armand promised.

Evelyn was finishing making herself two Monte Cristos when she heard the door to the apartment open. She looked up in time to see William enter, and she perked up. "Hey!" she beamed, hastily pulling down another plate. "How did it go?"
"Second place," William smiled happily, holding up his ribbon.
"Really?" Evelyn grinned. "Great! Who got first?"
"Sarah Epstein," William answered, rolling his eyes.
"That cheater," Alex grumbled as Kara giggled. "I swear I saw that solar hot dog cooker on Amazon on our Earth."
"Well, hey," Evelyn placed one of the Monte Cristos on the plate and bringing both around, holding one out to William. "That makes you the winner to us."
William brightened when he saw what she had made. "You made them with waffles!"
"They're so addictive," Evelyn gushed, grinning as Kara and Alex put their things down. "Seriously, your dad ruined other sandwiches for me once I had these."
She was totally unprepared for William to give her a huge one-armed hug. "Thank you, Evelyn!"
She hesitated for a moment, then smiled shyly and hugged him back. "You're welcome, William."
William beamed at her, picking up a sandwich to eat when he looked around. "Speaking of my dad . . . where is he?"
"I don't know," Evelyn frowned, checking her phone. "I haven't heard anything from anyone . . . "
The door opened at that moment, and Oliver's tired voice came through. "How did the science fair go?"
"Dad!" William perked up, finding his ribbon and holding it up. "Second place!"
"Really?" Oliver smiled, giving him a hug. "Good job, buddy. Sorry I couldn't make it."
"How did the council go?" Kara asked in concern, walking over and winding her arm around his.
"All things considered, pretty well," Oliver nodded. "I'm still the mayor, and Kullens got arrested for being in Diaz's pocket."
"One of the councilmen?" Alex asked in surprise.
"Yep," Oliver nodded, wincing. "The one who called for my impeachment . . . and the one who is responsible for why I'm seeing Adrian Chase holding up a Kryptonite arrow tauntingly."
Kara's face blanched, and she turned around. "Where?!"
"No," Evelyn shook her head desperately. "Cayden James killed him! Talia and I saw it happen!"
"I know," Oliver rubbed his eyes. "Kara, I hate to ask you this . . . but can you punch me out?"
"What?!" Kara gawked at him.
"Please," Oliver swallowed. "I really don't want to have to look at a hallucination of him anymore."
Kara bit her lip, then steeled herself. "Oh, I hate this . . . "
She threw a swift left hook, and Oliver crumpled right onto the couch. "Oh, my God!" Evelyn jumped back, her plate almost falling from her hands.
William was just in time to catch both the plate and the sandwich on top. "What the hell was that?" Alex stared at Oliver in shock.
"I have no idea," Kara swallowed. "But I really wanna know."

When Oliver came to again, it was to the low murmur of many, many voices around him. He winced and reached up, feeling his head pound, then immediately felt a cool hand on his cheek. "Oliver," Kara said quietly. "Take it easy, OK?"
"Dad!" That was from William, and as Oliver slowly opened his eyes, he saw both his fiancée and his son looking down on him in concern. "Are you all right?"
Oliver blinked a few times, then groaned. "Well, there's no longer Adrian Chase in the room, so . . . that's a plus."
"How long have you been hallucinating him?"
Startled, Oliver almost fell off the couch he was laying on, turning to see who else was in the room. He was stunned to see his entire team, including the three former supervillains, along with Kara's entire team . . . even Barry, Sara, and their teams were there, too. "This place is way too crowded," he muttered.
"Yeah, nice try," Sara snorted. "Dad told me about the Vertigo, and Ava told me how the council meeting went."
"Your girlfriend is a total badass," Oliver admitted, wincing afterwards. "Still love you most, Kara."
"Hey, Quentin updated us," Kara shook her head. "I need to write her a thank you card."
"Seriously, though, man," Barry leaned forward. "Are you all right?"
"I am now," Oliver nodded, rubbing his forehead. "You all didn't have to come."
"Man, you got drugged and almost got impeached," Cisco snorted. "How could we not come?"
"We just wanted to make sure you were all right," Nate nodded.
"Plus, when it was mentioned Kara had to knock you out," Ray shrugged.
"Thanks for that, by the way," Oliver looked at Kara gratefully.
"Just explain better next time," Kara patted his shoulder.
"In the meantime," Oliver winced. "Anyone have a hangover remedy?"
There was general laughter as Felicity held up a glass. "Funny you should ask," she handed it over. "There are oranges in there for Vitamin C, there's almonds in there for Vitamin E, there's avocado in there for Omega-3s – "
"Don't smell it," Dig immediately warned when Oliver raised it.
Oliver blinked, but did as told, wincing at the taste. "Salty."
"Yeah, that would be the fermented fish oils," Felicity nodded, ignoring the mock retching from Jax, Zari, and Wally. "I call it Felicity's party raver hangover supreme cure! Though that might be an insensitive choice of words considering what you just went through, but trust me, it works like a charm. Not that I've used it much. I mean, that was all in the past. Trust me." She cleared her throat, eyeing William and Evelyn. "Drugs are bad."
"Vertigo's the worst, from what I've heard," Malcolm looked at Oliver. "You sure you're OK?"
"I will be," Oliver nodded, looking around the room, a smile on his face. Everything Adrian had said, everything that had made him doubt even the slightest moment . . . it was all gone, looking upon the faces of his family, friends, and teammates. "Thank you for coming."
"Any time, man," Barry nodded.
Quentin suddenly came back into the room, a satisfied look on his face. "Well, I think we should turn the TV on."
"Oh?" Alex raised an eyebrow from her seat by Slade as William reached for the remote.
"Yeah," Quentin smirked. "Definitely. News."
William hastily turned it on, and James, Winn, Mon-El, Jax, Lily, and Wally backed away so they could see. "In a shocking new development at City Hall, the Star City council has voted by a landslide majority to keep Mayor Oliver Queen in office," the reporter announced, making Sara and Alex whoop and Kara and William dive to hug Oliver, who chuckled and hugged them back. "We now go live to the council's public statement."
The camera switched to City Hall, revealing the councilwoman who had been the most vocal. "It is not Mayor Queen's indictment we are here to address, but that of another council member," she announced. "Councilman Kullens brought this forward based on the word of a known criminal, a criminal who attempted to poison us against a man innocent of the accusations brought before us. Councilman Kullens has been removed from the council, and we sincerely apologize to Mayor Queen for the actions of one, not all of us."
"Suck ups," James scowled.
"We have those in the 31st century, too," Mon-El nodded.
"Politics never change," Quentin said dryly.
"Looks like you're still stuck with me," Oliver smirked up at him.
"Oh, what horror," Quentin huffed.
"I'm glad you're still the mayor, Dad," William smiled.
"Diaz is gonna be pissed," Laurel snorted.
"He'll be more pissed when he finds out Dinah's plowing through his cops," Quentin said. "She's reworked entire rotations. There's not a single dirty cop that isn't on duty with one she trusts. Diaz won't find a way into the station any time soon."
"Good," Oliver sighed. "One last suicide mission for me."
"So," J'onn leaned forward. "What now that this impeachment business is over with?"
Oliver considered. "Right now," he tugged Kara and William closer, making Kara giggle and William beam. "Stay right here."
"Hey, you know what did change in the 31st century?" Mon-El piped up, making everyone look at him. "No musicals."
"What?" Kara shot upright, eyes wide.
"Oh, God," Cisco closed his eyes.
"That is a tragedy!" Barry declared loudly.
"We are not seriously about to have a musical marathon, are we?" Evelyn looked around incredulously.
"Yes!" Winn whooped, tugging James to sit down on the floor. "Musical marathon!"
"Are we actually?" Imra looked around in confusion.
"Legends, we do not go into work until we get in the temporal zone," Sara declared, sauntering over to the couch and plopping down at Kara's feet. "We watch!"
"Yes!" Ray and Nate high fived.
"We're actually having a musical marathon," Slade shook his head.
"Oh, spend a night with the Danvers sisters some time," Alex snorted. "You'd get musical after musical, and sometimes, it would be the same one two times in a row."
"We're not nearly prepared enough!" Barry protested, looking around.
Wally suddenly disappeared, and streaks of gold lightning whipped out and in the loft, and soon there were bowls of popcorn, various wine bottles, and blankets and pillows everywhere. "Now we are!" Wally declared.
"Yes!" Barry cheered.
Oliver rolled his eyes fondly. "I guess we're actually having a musical marathon."
"Start with The Wizard of Oz!" Kara called.
Protests immediately rose from others about the best musical to choose, but Oliver was distracted by Dig and Felicity pulling their chairs up behind their couch. "Not a bad life, huh, man?" Dig smiled knowingly.
Oliver looked around the teams, smiling as Kara cheered victoriously as Mon-El agreed to watching The Wizard of Oz first, various people sprawling out together on the floor and furniture. "No," he agreed, smiling wider as William patted the spot on the couch next to him for Evelyn to join him, the dark-haired girl doing so with a pleased look. "Not a bad life at all."

Hmm, I wonder why our four favorite team leaders are so important to history, according to Ava? ;) In case you're wondering where the Legends are in their timeline, they're about to dive into "Necromancing the Stone" and it's just before "Run, Iris, Run" for Team Flash.
I figured that since everyone celebrated with Team Flash when Barry was released from prison, a team celebration after Oliver wasn't impeached was a good reason to bring them all together again. Plus . . . musical marathon. XD
Evelyn and William are great, aren't they? I've enjoyed them so much, I think I need them in the next episode . . . which is a Supergirl episode, and Evelyn will finally meet everyone's favorite teenager on Earth-38!
The next episode after this will be "Shelter from the Storm!"
