Chapter One

Lightning flashed in the air as cold wet droplets fell onto the sandy ground of a desert. Two minutes after the lightning struck the air, a loud rumble of thunder growled through the sky. A wild wind blew some sand around onto the roads, but through the darkness was a woman with a light purple umbrella.

A woman in her twenties grumbled as she walked through the pouring rain with a tight grip on her umbrella. Her dark brown orbs narrowed as she kept her gaze towards the road. She had creamy white skin that was as smooth as baby skin. Her light pink lips were pulled into a firm straight lip as she tighten her grip on the oak wood handle.

Her body was in a perfect hour glass, but she was a little taller than most women her age. At five feet and six inches, she was just an inch taller than most women in her town. She wore a black coat over a white t-shirt with a pair of black wind pants, her feet were in some black shoes with purple shoelaces. Her fiery red hair was pulled in a medium size pony tail which curled at the end.

She trudged towards a white two story farm house with a small oak porch on the front house and one in the back. The black roof was glistening with the fallen rain drops that pounded on it. The windows also sparkled with the raindrops that missed the roof. She grumbled quietly as she traveled down the long gravel driveway, by the time she reached the back porch the rain was pouring. Allowing the woman to open the dark wooden door and walking into the house.

She placed the umbrella upside down on the left side of the door, as she shut door and locked it with a golden key. She looked around the house as she entered the kitchen from the small room, it held within it a white and black tiled floors with a wooden sink that wrapped around the left side before being cut off by a fridge and a small steel vent. The top of the counter was a polished granite that held on top of it a kitchen set of knives on the right side of a white microwave which was shoved into the corner of the counter and wall, a small cow cookie jar on the left side of the microwave with a coffee maker on the right side of it, and a paper towel above the sink which faced the gravel driveway to the left side of the kitchen set of knives with black handles angled out.

A light brown fluffy carpet adorn the doorway to the kitchen from the back door as the woman looked at the oak table with four chairs around it. She threw her coat upon the nearest chair as she placed her shoes near the back door to dry out. She walked to a phone that was hung up above the small steel vent, which begun to ring.

She picked up and carried it to the living room that was in the left side of the house to the entrance of the living room where white carpet. Light brown couch and ottoman was to the right of the entrance and a TV was in front of entrance angled towards the couch. Books lined up the right side of the wall in which were to the right of the front door.

The woman sat on the carpet and asked, "Hello?"

"Kate?" A woman's voice floated from the other line, "What are you doing getting home so early?"

"Jacob and I broke up a month ago, and I felt like it was time to come back home," The woman, Kate, replied, looking towards the floor as though it was more interesting than the conversation.

"I'm so sorry Kate," Kate rolled her eyes, "I know it's hard for you to come home without him."

Kate stayed silent for a second as she looked at the phone with mild annoyance and disgust, she thought to herself, "As if. I'm happier without him, then when I was with him. Though I will admit, I do feel a bit sad about how things ended. I wish we could get passed our differences and....make up. But he became an ass and decided to just break up with me."

"It's alright June," Kate replied after a pause she asked, "Do you mind if I cook you and Jack supper? I have my famous meatloaf ready in thirty minutes."

"I think we can make it," June replied, with a smile from Kate she head her friend ask, "I'll be their with Jack in thirty minutes.....is it alright if Jack brings his friends?"

"Fine by me," Kate replied.

"See you in thirty minutes," June told her.

Kate nodded before she remarked, "See you soon."

"You aren't serious!" A young tween Asian girl with black pigtails with a hot pink strip shrieked in excitement. She wore a punk style of clothing with black army style boots.

Her light green eyes sparkling as a young teenage boy with black ruffled hair and dark blue eyes sighed, he wore a long sleeved gray and white shirt with blue jeans and tennis shoes, "Yeah, my mom is allowing you and Raf to meet a good family friend of ours. Her name's Kate."

"Your friends with Kate?" A young boy asked with orange hair that spiked on the back with brown child like eyes. He had a pair of square glass on his nose, he was the shortest of the three and looked around twelve. He wore a long sleeved white shirt with a orange vest a with brown pants and black shoes. In his hands was a small lap top.

A blue and pink female robot with parts of a motorcycle on her body asked, her light blue eyes holding confusion, "Who's this 'Kate'?"

The teenage boy replied, "A family friend, Arcee, nothing more."

"Hello! She's the only woman who is secretive in this town and never comes out, she so secretive some think she kills people for a living. Like an assassin," the tween girl spoke on a spooky voice as a yellow robot with blue optics and black accents walked in. He looked very much like a sport car, a Chevy one at that. The oldest of the three rolled his eyes at the tween's antics.

He turned to the young boy and buzzed at him, the boy replied, "Don't worry, Bumblebee. She's nice, nothing what the town folks say."

"Raf! That's so uncool," the tween girl pouted as she sat on a yellow sofa, her arms crossed over her chest in a pouting way as she looked at the young boy, named Raf.

"It's true though, Miko," the teenage boy remarked, as he added on shyly, "She's just....a bit of a introvert."

"Intro-what?" The tween, Miko, asked confused.

"An introvert," Raf replied, "Someone who doesn't like interacting with the human race. Right, Jack?"

The teenage boy, Jack, nodded, as he added, "It's also agrees with her career path."

"An assassin?!" Miko shrieked in excitement, "Awesome!"

"She's not an assassin!" Jack shouted exasperated.

"What does she do for a living, then?" Arcee asked, placing a servo on her hip.

"She's a detective," Jack replied, earning looks of confusion from the two robots and humans, "She works more with cold cases. Gives family closures. That sort of thing."

"Oh," Raf replied, "Isn't she the one that solved one of the unsolved murder cases around here?"

The two robots looked at each other with worry, as Jack smiled and pointed at Raf, "That's one of them."

"So we're going to have supper with a celebrity?" Miko asked, a glimmer of awe in her eyes.

"I guess you can say that," Jack remarked as three pairs of loud feet echoed in their ears/audio receptors.

The first that appeared to the group was a lime green robot who was slightly taller than Bumblebee and Arcee. He seemed to be the strongest out of the three robots, with most of his mass being upper and lower front body. He held a bit of childish glint in his optics. He stood to the left of the main three as he smiled at Miko, he resembled a military style of a jeep.

The one on the right was a mixture of orange and white, he seemed to have a sort of backpack on his backstruts. He wore the face of a grumpy medic, in which he was in a way because it reflected off his frame and appendages. He resembled a kind of Hummer ambulance by the appendages on him. He was slightly taller than Bulkhead, and held some soft but cold light blue optics as he crossed his arms over his chassis.

The robot in the middle seemed to reek with authority and care as he stared at the group with kind light blue optics. He was red on his upper parts with a well muscled chassis, he also had black and silver accents but his legs were a dark blue till it reached his pedes which were black, plus he had tires of a Peterbilt semi truck. Much of his appendages were the signs of a Peterbilt semi. A silver mask over his mouth slid away from his faceplates allowing much of the group to see the glimpse of the smile before it became a straight line.

He called out with his baritone honey smooth voice, "Arcee, Bumblebee, Jack, Raf, Miko."

The ones that were called looked to the leader with a mixture of confusion as he asked, "What we're you talking about?"

Miko replied, excitement in her tone, "Jack's allowing us to see his family friend for supper!"

The medical orange and white robot asked, cocking a invisible eyebrow, "Whose name is?"

"Kate, Kate Poscor," Jack replied, "A really good family friend of ours."

"I swear she's an assassin!" Miko exclaimed as Raf rolled his eyes with slight annoyance, a nervous look passed between the orange and white one and the olive green robot as their leader simply nodded.

"You sure?" The olive green one asked.

"Yep," Miko popped up he "p" but added on, "Bulkhead, get this. She's so secretive she could be hiding all her assassin stuff in her house. Including the bodies of her victims."

"Optimus?" Jack asked trying to cut off, and succeeding, Miko's creepy gossip descriptions of his close family friend, earning a look from the red and blue robot who looked like he was listening, "Do you mind if Bulkhead, Bumblebee, and Arcee join us?"

The red and blue robot, Optimus, replied, "I do not see a reason to not send your guardians with you and your friends. Ratchet?"

The orange and white robot, whose name was Ratchet, replied, "Yes?"

"When will the weather pass?" Optimus asked.

This earned confused looks from everyone, robot and human alike. They stared at Optimus, who stared at Ratchet who was typing on an green alien form of technology. Ratchet replied, "In five minutes, the storm will pass."

Optimus seem to nod in approval at the answer given and remarked to Jack, "You can see your friend in five minutes then."

Jack seem to smile at the response and turned back to talk to his friends, mostly him trying to correct Miko along with Raf. Bulkhead look at his robot team mates who shrugged, earning a small short smile from Optimus. Neither kind knew what this supper would bring.

Jack stood on the front porch with Miko on his left and Raf to his right, he rose a hand to knock on the dark wooden door when it swung open. Showing Kate, who leaned on the door frame. She asked Jack, a small smile on her face, "Hey Jack."

Jack smiled as he replied, "Hey Kate, how's your day?"

"It's alright," Kate replied, she then looked at each of Jack's accomplices as she teased, "How rude of you, Jacky Boy, not introducing your friends to me."

"That's so not cool," Jack muttered before he cleared his throat, he replied to her tease, "To my left is Miko, she's really into slash monkey. To my right is Raf, the computer genius in our little gang."

"Hello," Miko and Raf waved in which Kate returned.

Kate remarked, "Hi, my name's Kate."

Jack then saw some smoke billow from the kitchen, unnoticed by Kate who opened the door further for her guests. Miko opened her mouth but Jack interrupted with a small question, "Why is their smoke coming out from the kitchen?"

He then added in a teasing tone, "Are you burning something?"

Kate's smile dropped as her face paled, her happy face twisted into horror. She shrieked in a panic, "MY MEATLOAF!!!"

She slammed the doors in their faces, spinning around and leaping towards the kitchen. Halfway she spun around and jogged towards the door, she whipped open the door and spoke to the two surprised children and the chuckling teen in a frantic manner, "Letyourselvesin!"

The door was left open showing Kate sprinting at top speeds to the kitchen, to save her beloved meatloaf supper. Earning laughter from Raf and Miko, a small chuckle from Jack, and their guardians outside trembling with laughter. Bumblebee pulled out in his alt mode first, he was a yellow sport car with black accents, before Bulkhead followed in his alt mode as well, a olive green military jeep. Arcee stayed as a blue motorcycle with a pink accents.

The children entered into the household as Jack shut the door behind them and locked it, Miko whispered, "Meatloaf?"

"JACK! GUESS WHAT?!" Kate shouted from the kitchen.

"WHAT?" Jack replied.

"THE STOVE HAS DIED!" Kate shouted.

This earned the two family friends snickers from Miko and Raf as Kate kept brushing the smoke out of the kitchen, opening a window doing so. Before she walked into the living room, she grabbed and put on two oven mitts. She brought out a brown pan, as she held it in front of her, with a delicious brown meatloaf inside perfectly cooked, which made the children gawk in surprise and awe.

"Is the meatloaf good?" Jack asked, worried for his friend's honor.

"Safe and sound," Kate replied showing them the delicious brown meatloaf soaked with juice, "Thank the lord above for that. But....we might need your mom to get a side dish."

Kate sighed sadly at the confused looks from the children, "We lost the potatoes from the stove's dramatic exit from this life."

That earned a round of laughter from everyone as Kate walked back into the kitchen, placing the meatloaf on the undamaged table.
