Tintin x Tiny!Reader.

For those who don't know, Borrowers are little people who live within the walls of a house taking only what they need while trying not to get caught by "beans" or human beings. When they are seen or caught, they have to leave and find a new home.

(Y/n) POV

Alright. Let's make this quick. I don't want to get caught by anyone. I threw my grappling hook up and it caught the edge of the pantry shelf. I tugged on it to make sure that it had a good hold on it. I quickly climbed up the string to where the cereal was stored.

You might be wondering why I'm using a grappling hook to get cereal. Well, it's quite simple actually. I'm a borrower, which means I'm only about two inches tall. So imagine trying to gather the bare necessities when you are that small. And now imagine trying to do that without getting caught by the owners of the flat. What makes it even harder is that this guy has a dog! But it's not all bad, the owner doesn't suspect a thing and he is away a lot. I sometimes sneak into his office when I can and read the stories that he has on the wall. They are all about his travels and adventures. Reading these stories makes me wish that I was a bean like him. Then I wouldn't have to fight for survival all of the time.

I finally make it up to the shelf and pull myself up over the ledge and sit there for a moment to catch my breath. Once I had regained my composure, I made my way over to the cereal. I went into the box and stuffed my bag as full as I could before beginning to climb out of the box. Just as I was halfway out, the string snapped and I fell back into the box. Oh no. This is bad! If the bean is here, I'm positively screwed! I panicked and desperately tried to get out of the box. That when I heard it. the sound that I didn't want to hear. The thundering footsteps of a bean.

"Good morning Snowy. Ready to go visit the Captain?" I heard his voice as he spoke to his dog. I have to get out of here quick! I rammed myself against the side of the box as hard as I could, tipping the box over and tumbling me out. I quickly grab a few pieces and run behind another box to hide. I barely make it when the pantry door opens. The red haired bean looks and sees the mess I made. "That's odd. Do you think we've got mice again?" He asks his dog. The dog just barks at him in response. "I'll let Mrs. Finch know about the mice later. But let's get some breakfast first." He says grabbing the box of cereal and closing the door.

I sighed in relief. "Good. He didn't find me. But now things are going to get more difficult for supply runs." I shoved the bits of cereal into my bag and ran to my hook. Thank goodness he didn't notice it. As I was sliding down the rope, the bean opened the pantry door again. He didn't notice me, but he bumped into me, causing me to lose my grip on the rope and falling right into his coat pocket. "Alright, let's go Snowy. We don't want to miss the train do we?" He said. "A train? What's a train?" My thoughts were interrupted by him starting to walk.

I tried to get out of his pocket, but it was too high for me to jump to and too smooth for me to climb up. "I guess I'll have to tag along. I just hope he doesn't accidentally squish me." I slung my bag off of my shoulders and settled into a comfortable position and snacked on the cereal. After I had my fill, I somehow managed to doze off to the gentle swaying of the pocket.

~~~~ an hour passes by.~~~~
"Come along Snowy. It's our stop." I woke up to the sounds of loud creaking and the voice of hundreds of beans. This by far was one of the worst rides of my life. I kept getting tossed around and squished in the pocket. There was no doubt that I would end up with a ton of bruises by the end of this. After a while, the tossing and squinting stopped and it turned back into gentle swaying like before.
It was a while until we finally stopped again. "Good day Mr. Tintin. Master Haddock has been expecting you. Would you like me to take your coat?" A new voice asked. "No thank you Nestor." The bean, or Tintin, said. After some more walking, he finally stopped. "Hello Captain. How are you today?" I heard him say. "I'm just fine and dandy. That insufferable woman sent a telegram and she is coming over later." A gruff voice complained. I don't know what a telegram is, but it doesn't sound very nice. Especially if it makes a bean angry. "How long will she be staying?" I heard Tintin ask. "A week! A week with that monstrosity of a woman! A week of no peace and quiet! I'll be going mad!" I heard the angry bean shout. "Don't worry Captain. I could stay with you if you'd like, to help you keep your sanity." Tintin said. The other bean sounded overjoyed by this news. I on the other hand, was not so pleased.
'How am I going to survive a week here?! I have no idea where the kitchen might be and no clue as to how big this place is!' My rambling thoughts were interrupted by a sniffing sound and the cloth of the pocket being pushed against me. Oh no. I heard the dog barking and I felt him digging at me. It kept squishing me and hurting me. I tried to be quiet, but a few pained yelps escaped my mouth. "Snowy? What's up with you? Is there something in my pocket? I heard Tintin ask. I looked up to see a large hand coming closer to me. I jumped out of the way just in time. "What's this?" He asked. I realized that he had my pack! I need that! I ran to grab it, but it was already out of the pocket.
"That's odd. There's a tiny backpack in my pocket." I heard him say. "Really? That is odd. Check your pocket again for anything else." I heard the other bean say. He sounded like he knew something and it scared me. I saw the hand reach down again. But this time, I was cornered. He was going to catch me! I was defenseless and scared to death. 'Oh no! This isn't how I wanted to die! I'm so dumb. My parents would be so disappointed if they saw me now' I felt the hand grab me. His grip was surprisingly gentle. I tried squirming out of it, but it was no use.
Bright light blinded me as I was brought out of the pocket. After my eyes adjusted, I saw two very large pairs of eyes starring at me. My breathing began to quicken and tears were rolling down my face. "In all my life, I never thought I'd see one of these little guys again." The bean with black hair and beard said with a smile. "What is it?" The bean with red hair with a weird piece sticking up asked. "That my dear boy, is a borrower. Very rare to find. This one seems young. Must have recently moved away from her parents." The bearded bean said. I continued to squirm and wiggle to try to get myself out of the bean's grip. Out of desperation, I bit his finger. He released me and I found myself free falling towards the hard ground. I closed my eyes and waited for my end. It never came. Instead, I fell on something soft and fluffy. I opened my eyes to see that I was on the white dog's back.
"Good boy Snowy." The red haired bean said as he scooped me off of the dog. I tried to escape again, but he clasped his hands around me, trapping me in his hands. I kicked and punched at his fingers, but it was no use. "Let me go! I don't want to be here! I just want to go home!" I yelled at them as I sunk down and started sobbing. "Please! I don't want to die! Just let me go!" I sobbed and curled myself into a ball. I felt the hand over me lift away.
"Shh. It's alright. We aren't going to hurt you. Calm down." The red haired bean said quietly and stroked my head with his finger. I looked up at him and saw his blue eyes starring at me with curiosity. I sniffled and wiped my face with my sleeve. "That's it. Calm down. You're safe. We won't hurt you. What's your name? Mine is Tintin." The bean, well Tintin, said. I slowly stood up and wiped away the rest of my tears. "(Y/n). My name is (Y/n). What are you going to do to me?" I asked, my voice shaking. "Well, first things first, I'm going to return this." He said handing me my backpack. I grabbed it and hugged it to my chest.
"Now, where are you from?" Tintin asked me. I swallowed nervously before replying. "F-from your a-apartment." I said looking down. "I live in your walls, and take only what I need. Nothing that you would immediately notice. I get food when I can, mostly when you're gone." I explained, still not looking up to face him. Afraid that he would be angry. "Is that why one of my socks is missing?" I heard him tease. I looked up at him to see him smiling. I started to relax a little bit. "Y-yeah. I use it like a sleeping bag. Thank goodness it's clean. Otherwise I would smell like a gross dirty foot. Blech." I said making a fake puking noise. The two beans laughed as did I. I felt better knowing that they didn't want to hurt me.
"So, who are you and how do you know about my kind?" I asked the bearded bean. "Captain Archibald Haddock at your service, but everyone calls me Captain. I know about you little tykes because I've seen quite a few in my years. I let them be and they live in peace. Although I do leave out little treats for them every once in a while. But they usually leave after that. I've never known why though." I set my backpack down on Tintin's hand and sat down, crossing my legs before I began to explain.
"It's Borrower code. If a Bean finds you or suspects your presence, you have to leave and find a new home. It's really hard for us to find new homes. We have to make sure that the home isn't infested with pests such as cockroaches or mice because they can steal our food and or kill us. We also have to be wary of pets. They can easily kill us or find us out. Like how your dog found me in your pocket. We also have to factor the Bean's schedule and how much they value each of their belongings. It can be very difficult and dangerous for a Borrower to move from place to place." I said. They had sat down on the couch behind them as I explained everything to them.
These beans are a lot nicer than how my mother told me beans were. She said that they'd squish me or eat me as soon as they saw me. But they didn't. They're chatting and laughing with me as if I were one of them! Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Nestor, would you go answer that please? Thank you." The Captain said to the tall, quiet bean who nodded and went into another room.
"That there was Nestor. He will get you anything you need or want. Just ask for it and he'll get it." The Captain said pointing in the direction of where the bean went. "Really?" I asked surprised. "But of course! You're my guest, so you should be treated with the same respect as anyone else who comes here." He said with a smile. "The Captain's right. No matter how big or small you are, you should be treated as a regular person. And when it's time for me to go back home, you can come along with Snowy and I if you wish. " Tintin said with a smile. I couldn't help but let a few tears fall from my eyes. "What's wrong? Is something the matter?" The Captain asked concerned. Tintin used his finger to wipe the tears from my cheeks. "It's nothing. I'm just happy that I have friends now." I answered with a smile.
"Oh Captain Hamock!" A loud female voice sang out. I gasped out in fear as a large female bean with short blonde hair and a large pointy nose wearing a very sparkly dress came in. "Ah! There you are! And delightful to see you again young Tintin." The bean said as she walked towards us. "Oh my goodness! Look at this! I haven't seen one of these since I was a child!" She said as she unexpectedly scooped me out of Tintin's hand and held me in her own. I sat there paralyzed, not knowing what was going to happen to me. "Miss Bianca! Put her down! You're scaring her!" Tintin said as he carefully took me from her grasp.
"Oh! Forgive me for my behavior little one. I'm just thrilled that there are more of you! I found one when I was a little girl and I tried to become friends with the little person but found that they had left the next day." She said apologetically. "Oh. Um. It's alright. Just don't pick me up like that again please. I'm not fond of heights." I said standing up in Tintin's hand. "(Y/n), this is Miss Bianca Castafiore. A very popular opera singer. Miss Bianca, this is (Y/n). A borrower who lives with Snowy and I." Tintin said introducing us. I shyly waved at her.
"A pleasure to meet you. May I hold you? I'll be gentle this time." She asked holding out her palms. I turned to Tintin and looked up at him.  He smiled and nodded to me letting me know it was safe. I slowly slid off of his palms to Bianca's. She slowly brought me to her face and turned me in her hands. "My my. You truly are extraordinary. And so small. You look just like a regular person." She praised as she admired me. "And such delicate features," she used her thumb to stroke my hair and hands. "Smooth (h/c) hair, soft (s/c) skin, and a beautiful complexion. Oh my! You even have pointed ears! How lovely." She continues to list off my features and complementing them, making me blush bright red.
"But it's a shame that you have to wear those little rags." I looked down at my clothes. It was a maroon dress that I made from one of Tintin's old handkerchiefs that was a bit worn out. "Well, when you have to live in the walls and hide from beans all the time, you can't exactly go get a new dress when you want to." I said looking down. "Well, I guess I'm going to have to fix that. Irma! Come and measure this little one and make her a nice little dress!" As she said this, another bean came in wearing a maid's dress.
"Don't worry, she'll take good care of you." Bianca says as she gently hands me to the other bean. "Come now little one. I think I can make you something that you'll like." She said as she carried me off to another room.
"So... What do you think?" I asked as we came back into the room with everyone else wearing the dress we made. "Well, would you look at that. You look like a proper lady." Captain Haddock said smiling at me. "How lovely. Now you look so much better." Bianca said as she gently took me into her hands. I blushed and brushed a stray hair from my face.
The dress we made was light blue that came to my knees that fit my form on the top. Although it wouldn't be practical to go borrowing with it, it was nice and comfortable as well.
"Give us a turn." Bianca said twirling her finger in a circle. I did as told and carefully turned around for everyone to see. "What do you think Tintin?" I asked nervously. He smiled at me and held his hand out to me. I climbed onto it and sat in it. He slowly brought me up to his face. "I think you look fantastic. We'll have to get a few more made for you before we head back home." He said. I smiled back at him.
~Time skip ~
We stayed for a week before heading back to the flat. But instead of being stuck in his pocket, I sat on his shoulder tucked close to his neck so he could hear me and to keep me hidden from all the other beans. It was amazing to see all of the sights I couldn't have ever imagined seeing.
At the flat, Tintin and I worked on little contraptions to make getting around easier for me. We made a few makeshift elevators and I made some rope bridges from popsicle sticks and twine and hung them all around the apartment so I could get from one place to another. I also have Snowy as transportation when I want.
Living with Tintin is a lot easier since I was discovered. He would bring me along on some of his trips with him. I've helped him escape from tough situations by picking locks and listening in on devious plans and whatnot.
In fact, a lot of places had borrowers like me who lived as roommates with other beans. I was happy and relieved that I wasn't the only one who got along with beans. Although it was scary at first, being friends with Tintin and his friends is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
