The Impossible Astronaut - Two
"Why Florida?" Canton frowned as the Doctor picked up another map off the floor and placing it onto the table, the Stone beside him sipping at her mint tea in its fancy china cup.
"There's where NASA is. She mentioned a spaceman. NASA's where the spacemen live."
"But we're also looking for something else." The Stone hummed taking another drink.
"Something else?" Canton frowned.
"Yes." The Doctor nodded. "Another lead." He then frowned as Amy gasped her arm coming around her stomach.
"Are you all right?" The Doctor curiously asked.
"Yeah." She slowly nodded as the Stone frowned placing her china cup down and moving around to Amy placing a hand on her shoulder. "No, I'm fine. I'm just feeling a little sick."
"Join the club." The Stone grumbled as the Doctor softly kissed her cheek.
"Why don't you two pop to the toilet or something maybe it will make you feel better?"
"You sure you'll be okay sweetheart?" The Stone questioned.
"Any problems I'll shout for you, dear." He winked giving her a light kiss on the lips.
"Excuse me, is there a toilet or something?" Amy asked one of the officers.
"Sorry, ma'am, while this procedure's ongoing, you must remain within the Oval office."
"Shut up and take them to the restroom." Canton interrupted.
"This way." One of them men nodded letting them go. "Thanks." Amy nodded as the Stone took the lead.
"Your five minutes are up," Canton told the Doctor.
"Yeah," he replied not seeming fazed as he continued to glance at the map. "And where's my fez?"
----------------------------------------------------------------
"I didn't think Time Lords could get ill?" Amy frowned walking with the Stone the guard leading the way.
"We're not immune Amy." The Stone informed her. "We just don't get sick as easily."
"So this is potentially dangerous for you?"
"Potentially." She nodded. "But I don't feel too bad. It's more on and off."
"Oh." She nodded.
"It could possibly just be something I picked up somewhere from a planet that that Doctor and I were recently at or it could just be the slight fright you, Rory and River gave me earlier."
"Yeah..." Amy swallowed thickly. "Sorry."
"Are you sure you can't tell me anything about it, Amy?" The Stone asked. "We're friends."
"Of course we are." She nodded. "But I just can't..."
"I understand." She nodded as the guard stopped gesturing them to a door before going to follow as Amy turned around stopping him.
"Actually, I can usually manage this alone." She reassured. "If anything happens the Stones with me. She's more than capable to keep me safe."
"Don't worry." The Stone grinned. "We won't try and escape."
The two walked into the bathroom before jumping back standing against the wall seeing a large thin creature in a black human-like suit. Its face looked very much like a human skull but much larger.
"I saw you before..." Amy murmured making the Stone frown as she looked at it curiously. "And here. But then I forgot. How did I forget? What are you?"
"Forget?" The Stone asked looking at Amy before blinking. "Amy are you okay?"
"Stone?" She questioned not looking away. "Look at it!"
The Stone looked at where Amy's eyes were fixed before they widened. "Wait..." she reached for her sonic. "How..."
Suddenly a woman came out of a cubical to wash her hands. "Get back," Amy shouted at her. " Stay back from it."
The woman frowned and turned around to see the creature standing there. "Oh, my God." She gasped jumping. "What is that? Is that a mask? Is that a Star Trek thing? Ben, is that you?"
"Get back from it now!" Amy shouted.
The woman turned around to look at them. "Back from what, honey?"
"That." She nodded.
"Oh, my God!" The woman gasped again. "Look at that. Is that a Star Trek mask? Ben, that's got to be you. Hang on, did I just say all that?"
"I think it's best to step back." The Stone warned reaching out for the woman Amy begged for her to move back.
"No. Please, you've got to stay back."
"Back, honey?" The woman looked between them. "Back from what?"
"So it makes us forget when we look away from it..." the Stone frowned then looked just above the creature seeing the lights flicker.
"Oh, those lights." The woman shook her head. "They never fix them."
"Look behind you," Amy shouted as the creatures arms moved upwards, electricity buzzing around as the woman turned around.
"Honey, there is nothing-" she then cried out in pain as she was electrocuted and then turned into an explosion of ashes.
"You didn't have to kill her," Amy shouted. "She couldn't even remember you. How does that work?"
"We can only remember it while we're looking at it." The Stone answered. "Amy can I borrow your phone please." She held her hand out as the woman handed it to her. "Smile!" She then took a photo and quickly handed it back to Amy.
"Why did you have to kill her?" Amy asked.
"Joy." It replied in a voice sounding like a loud whisper. "Her name was Joy. Your name is Amelia. You will tell them."
"Tell them?" The Stone frowned.
"What they must know and what they must never know."
"How do you know about that?" Amy's eyes widened.
"Tell him."
"Amy." The Stone cut in taking her hand. "It's trying to scare you. Ignore it."
"But how will I remember?" She cried.
"We won't." She said. "That's why I took the picture. We won't remember this or the creature.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Amy ran out of the bathroom the Stone quickly behind before frowning looking back at the door. "Are you okay?" The man waiting for them asked.
"I'm fine." Amy nodded after frowning. "Much better, thanks."
"Yeah..." the Stone slowly nodded.
"What's that?" He pointed at Amy's phone.
"It's my phone."
"Your phone?"
"I have to tell the Doctor." She blurted out making the Stone look at her questioningly.
"Tell him what, ma'am?"
"Amy?"
"Sorry, I don't know why I said that." She looked at the Time Lady.
"This way." He nodded.
----------------------------------------------------------------
"You, sir, are a genius."
"It's a hobby." The Doctor grinned.
"Don't add to his ego." The Stone rolled her eyes walking in.
"Better?" The Doctor raised a brow walking up to her, his arms finding their way around her waist.
"Yeah, I think so." She nodding giving him a kiss on his cheek.
"Mister President, answer the phone," Canton ordered.
Nixon then picked up the phone starting the recording. "Hello. This is President Nixon."
"It's here!" The little girl on the other end cried out. "The spaceman's here! It's going to get me! It's going to eat me!"
"There's no time for a SWAT team. Let's go." The Doctor clicked his fingers grabbing his tweed jacket. "Mister President, tell her help's on the way. Canton, on no account, follow us into this box and close the door behind you." He ordered as the Stone rolled her eyes at him following the Doctor into the box.
"What the hell are you doing?" Canton ran in following them.
"Jefferson isn't a girl's name." The Doctor shook his head running around the console with the Stone.
"And it's not her name either. Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton." She said. "River."
"Surnames of three of America's founding fathers."
"Lovely fellows." The Doctor hummed in thought. "Two of them fancied me. Of course, I wasn't interested." He added. "I only had my eyes on one woman." He grinned as the Stone rolled her eyes.
"You're such a flirt."
"But I'm your flirt and I don't see you complaining, dear." He smirked kissing her momentarily before continuing to move around the console. "You see, the President asked the child two questions." He informed the humans in the room. "Where are you and who are you? She was answering where."
"It's bigger on the inside." They heard Canton whisper from near the door.
"Yeah, you get used to it." Rory nodded.
"Now, where would you find three big, historical names in a row like that?"
"Where?" Amy questioned.
"Here." He took the Stones' hand. "Come on." He ran to the doors before stopping seeing Canton and then pointing at Rory.
"It's er"
"Are you taking care of this?"
"Why is it always my turn?" Roy groaned as they ran out.
"Because you're the newest," Amy replied kissing his cheek. "Where are we?" she asked stepping outside of the TARDIS. The Doctor sat on a chair waving a small flag around.
"About five miles from Cape Kennedy Space Centre. It's 1969, the year of the moon. Interesting, don't you think?"
"Remember when we were stuck in 1969?" The Stone questioned.
"Wasn't that where we had our first date?" He questioned his eyes growing warm and soft as he stood up walking towards her.
"I believe it was." She smiled. "I quite enjoyed that night."
"It definitely was a first." He chuckled.
"And now they're flirting again." Amy groaned.
"Sorry." The Doctor apologised straightening his jacket.
"But why would a little girl be here?" Amy then questioned.
"I don't know." He shrugged. "Lost me a bit. The President asked the girl where she was, and she did what any lost little girl would do." He then looked between the blinds of the window showing the street sign with the three names on it.
"She looked out of the window."
"Streets." Amy nodded. "Of course, street names."
"The only place in Florida, probably all of America, with those three street names on the same junction. And Stone dear, you've got that face on again."
"Face?" She frowned not understanding what he meant. "What face would that be Doctor?"
"The 'he's adorable when he's clever' face."
"Sweetheart this is my normal face." She chuckled lightly pushing his shoulder.
"That's exactly point." He smirked.
"Such a tease and a flirt." She rolled her eyes.
"You love it." He winked
"We've moved." Canton looked around after stepping out the TARDIS with Rory "How, how can we have moved?"
"You haven't even got to space travel yet?" The Doctor said looking at a confused Canton and then Rory.
"I was going to cover it with time travel."
"Time travel," Canton repeated.
"Braveheart, Canton." The Doctor clapped his hands together and spun around. "Come on."
"So we're in a box that's bigger on the inside, and it travels through time and space," Canton asked Rory double checking with what he had just heard in the past five minutes.
"Yeah, basically."
"How long have Scotland Yard had this?"
----------------------------------------------------------------
"It's a warehouse of some kind." River said walking through the dark cold and slightly damp room. "Disused."
"You realise this is almost certainly a trap, of course?" He raised a brow at her.
"I noticed the phone, yes." She nodded.
"What about it?" Amy questioned not understanding.
"It was cut off." River answered. "So how did the child phone from here?"
"Okay, but why would anyone want to trap us?"
"Let's see if anyone tries to kill us and work backwards." The Doctor grinned.
"Please don't jinx it, sweetheart, I already don't feel one hundred percent without someone trying to kill us.
"Sorry dear." He apologised wincing a little as he placed an arm around her kissing her temple.
"Now," River cut in glancing at both Time Lords. "Why would a little girl be here?"
"I don't know." The Doctor shook his head. "Let's find her and ask her."
River frowned looking at what looked like non-human technology. "It's nonterrestrial." She said poking it. "Definitely alien. Probably not even from this time zone."
"Which is odd, because, look at this!" The Doctor grinned picking up a space suit helmet from a crate full of human technology.
"It's earth tech." River said. "It's contemporary."
"It's very contemporary." The Doctor nodded "Cutting edge. This is from the space program."
"Stolen?" She guessed.
"What, by aliens?" Amy asked.
"Apparently so." The Stone hummed.
"But why? I mean, if you can make it all the way to Earth, why steal technology that can barely make it to the moon?"
"Maybe because it's cooler?" The Doctor guessed putting one of the space helmets on. "Look how cool this stuff is." He pulled one of the helmet visors up grinning.
"Cool aliens?" Amy questioned.
"Well, what would you call me?"
"An alien."
"Oi!" He pouted.
"An adorable alien." The Stone grinned kissing his cheek.
"I'm not an alien to you." He frowned.
"No but you're still adorable." She smirked.
"I, er, I think he's okay now." Rory informed the Time Lords as the Doctor took the helmet off.
"Ah! Back with us, Canton?" He asked clapping his hands together.
"I like your wheels."
"That's my boy." He patted him on the back. "So, come on. Little girl. Let's find her." The Doctor linked his arm with the Stone I really don't like this." The Doctor whispered to the Stone.
"Neither do I." She sighed shaking her head sinking into his open arms that wrapped around her in a tight hug.
"How are you feeling?" He softly whispered.
"Better." She nodded.
"I promise we'll get back soon." He kissed her head.
"It's just them not telling us." She shook her head. "That's all it is."
"You don't know that dear."
"Doctor I have a gut." She rolled her eyes. "It's a gut feeling that I'm very much sure is true."
"I'm still doing those tests."
"Test all you like." She rolled her eyes at him. "You won't find anything sweetheart."
"And that will make me much calmer." He replied before frowning seeing River and Amy quietly talking to one another too far away for them to hear. "What do you think they're saying?"
"I don't know." She shook her head. "But again I don't like it."
"No." He agreed, squeezing her hand. "Neither do I."
"Doctor?" River suddenly called. "Stone? Look at this." She nodded at a small hole in the ground.
"So where does that go?" The Stone frowned.
"There's a network of tunnels running under here."
"Life signs?" The Doctor questioned.
"No," She glanced at the device in her hand. "Nothing that's showing up."
"Those are the worst kind." He sighed.
River then started to head down the hole. "Be careful." The Doctor warned.
"Careful?" She shook her head. "I tried that once. Ever so dull."
"You know what he means." The Stone sighed.
"Don't worry." She chuckled. "I don't need you to save me."
"River." She rolled her eyes. "Just be careful down there."
"Yes, Sister." She joked.
"Tell me what's going on here." Canton frowned.
"Er, nothing." The Doctor replied spinning around. "She's just a friend."
"I think he's talking about the possible alien incursion," Rory explained as the Stone pinched the bridge of her nose sighing at her husband.
"Okay." The Doctor patted Rory and Canton on the back quickly moving past them. The Stone shook her head following him, the two of them digging through more crates with Rory.
"You know." The Stone began opening another crate. "I do wonder how you can be so clever yet so stupid at times."
"You're being really mean today." he pouted at her.
"That's what happens when I don't feel my best." The Time Lady shrugged.
"All clear." They heard River who was actually breathing quite heavily for someone so calm. The Stone tilted her head ever so slightly looking at the woman curiously. "Just tunnels. Nothing down there I can see." River nodded glancing down looking even unsure herself. "Er, give me five minutes. I want to take another look around.
"Stupidly dangerous!" The Doctor shouted.
"Yeah, I like it too." She joked. "Amy, look after them." She whispered to the redhead who silently nodded at the curly blonde who made her way back down.
"Rory, would you mind going with her?" The Doctor asked.
"Yeah, a bit."
"Then I'd appreciate it all the more." He patted the mans back grinning.
"I'll go." The Stone rolled her eyes going to head to the hole as the Doctor grasped her wrist.
"No way." He shook his head pulling her closer towards him. "I'm not letting you go down there without me and we need to find that little girl."
"Doctor-"
"No Stone." he shook his head. "You even said you're not feeling your best. I'm not letting you down there at the moment."
"Overprotective much?"
"Worried much." He countered shooting her a look.
"Fine." She sighed then looked at her companion apologetically. "Sorry, Rory."
"It's fine." he sighed. "Hang on, River. I'm coming too." Rory shouted moving over to the hole sounding very unenthusiastic about the whole thing.
"So, you were kicked out of the FBI because you had attitude problems?" Amy asked Canton.
"No, I just wanted to get married."
"Is that a crime?"
"Yes." He replied making the ginger human blinked as the Time Lady who was listening close by nodded (knowing from being curious she was about human history) how it was for him. "Doctor who, exactly?"
"Ah. That's classified."
"What about his wife?"
"Also classified."
"Classified by who?"
"God knows." Amy chuckled. The Stone shrugged and made her way back over to the Doctor who just finished searching in another crate.
"Do you work for him?"
"He's my friend if, friend is the right word." She frowned in thought slightly wondering how exactly the Time Lords looked at her while she curiously glanced at them seeing the Doctors head in a crate, the Stone rolling her eyes at her husband who was looking around in the wooden box. Of course, the Stone did say earlier that day that they were friends; she could have just been saying that though. "I haven't seen him or his wife in a while. I had something I wanted to tell them both, but stuff always gets in the way."
"Stuff does that."
"Help me!" The little girl suddenly cried making the Doctor pull his head out and grasp the Stones hand. "Help! Help me!"
"That's her." Canton pulled out his gun heading in the direction of the noise. Amy suddenly cried out in pain grabbing her stomach..
"Amy?" The Time Lords worryingly looked at her the Stone quickly hurrying over to help support her.
"Help me! Please!"
"What's wrong?" The Doctor asked grabbing Amy's other arm.
"I need to tell you something." She looked between them. "It's important."
"Doctor!" Canton shouted.
"It's really, really important."
"Stone, quickly!" They heard Canton shout.
"What, now?" The Doctor looked at her as the Stone let go of the ginger woman seeing her standing on her own much better now as she quickly went in the direction Canton headed in the Doctor behind her almost instantly pulling Amy with him. "Canton!" The Doctor shouted seeing the man on the floor. The Stone beside him checking his breathing before nodding. "Canton, are you okay?"
"Is he all right?" Amy worryingly asked as the Stone flashed her sonic up and down the mans body before checking it letting out a sigh.
"He's just unconscious." She answered slightly tilting her head. "I wonder what hit him?"
"He obviously got a proper whack." The Doctor winced.
"Doctor, Stone, I need to tell you something." She looked between them both so seriously the Stone could swear the woman was joking. That wasn't something Amy would do though. "I have to tell you it now."
"Not a great moment." The Doctor shook his head.
"No, it's important." She said making them look at her. "It has to be now."
"Help! Help me! Help me!"
"I'm pregnant." She told them making the Doctors eyes slightly widen, the Stone raised her brows. She had her suspicions ever since the oval office but didn't feel it was exactly her place to question the human especially when she was feeling slightly sick herself meaning she couldn't exactly judge the ginger human.
The Time Lords slowly rose to their feel hearing the sound of heavy footsteps behind them. "That's it," Amy whispered seeing the outline of an astronaut suit coming towards the Time Lords the light shining behind it. "The astronaut." Slowly the astronaut raised its arm pointing at the Time Lady who curiously tilted her head wondering why it was exactly doing that. Thinking quickly Amy reached for Cantons gun as the astronaut raised its visor with the arm not pointing at the Time Lady, a little girl's horrified and scared face on the other side of the helmet looking at the Time Lords in panic. "Help me!"
"Get down!" Amy screamed making the Doctors eyes widen his arms protectively coming around the Stone even though they were behind the human woman he didn't know what was happening.
"What are you doing!" The Time Lords cried as Amy loaded the gun and pointed it at the astronaut or rather the little girl.
"Saving your lives!"
"No!" They both cried as a gunshot rang out as Amy screamed.
