women liked gin

WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN WHEN someone fell for the broken person? The so feared man who had hell of a reputation with a broken heart and the fearless woman ready to pick up the piece of his heart one by one... if it was what she had to do to finally have him whole to herself. Margaret was the only woman who after all these months had been able to make her way to the cold hearted Shelby man, who had been able to make him laugh and even managed to steal a genuine smile.

Once again, what was supposed to happen? Was the woman supposed to love him with her whole person? That meant either way she was going to be happy until the end of the time or end up just like he used to be. Alone, sad, and mostly broken.

Maggie wouldn't admit but kissing Thomas somehow made her feel butterflies, the kind of ones you had when you were in love or when you started to be. And she couldn't help about how stupid she must have looked— shy smile, flushed cheeks, eyes half closed as she appreciated his touch on her face.

And things couldn't get better. They went home, spoke, even laughed a little. Margaret prepared dinner and the three of them were around the table. Just them. Charles, Tommy, and Maggie. Sometimes Margaret felt like she was replacing Grace, Thomas' ex wife, then she remembered how good people described Grace's motherhood— and she knew she would want Charles to have someone to look up, to speak to, to play with. At least that was what Margaret would have wanted if she ever had a kid of hers.

"Morning." Spoke Thomas with a husky voice as he leaned against her door frame, his blue eyes ranking the woman. "I just wanted to let you know I'm leaving for the office."

Margaret hummed bowing her head, "All right then." Smiled the woman, feeling a lot more comfortable around the man now. Almost as if they kind of broke the tension yesterday. "I will just keep myself busy today."

"Be careful, eh?" He seriously told her pointing a finger at the woman. He walked in and made his way towards the bed. "You hear me?"

She gulped, "Yeah. Yeah." She muttered as he leaned down gently kissing her and when he pulled away, she swore she could kiss his lips for hours. He left the room as she was now alone.

The woman walked over to the dresser, pulling out a white suit as she thought how pretty it looked. She gently curled her hair, not too much— she didn't feel like it today. Her green eyes stared at herself in the mirror before sighing and leaving the house, of course, her gun still on her.

She walked to the boxing training room, her nose slightly scrunched at the smell. It was even more horrible than outside in Small Heath, sweat and God knew what.

"Bonnie Gold?" Shouted Margaret as she watched all the rings, a man stepped in front of her struggling to find the words. Probably trying to say how women weren't allowed in here, but before he could talk— Bonnie Gold and Aberama Gold stepped on the side, smiling at the woman. "There you are!" Cheered Maggie, going over them.

Truth be told, despite Aberama's cockiness, she actually enjoyed their presence. What safer than to talk with a highly trained boxer, and a Gipsy hitman? Nothing. Margaret wrapped her arms around Bonnie, bringing him into a hug— he kind of reminded her of Margaret's brother, and she loved it.

"Bonnie, Aberama." Greeted the brunette when she reached the men. "How is the fighting going?"

Bonnie happily nodded his head, "Fucking great, Mrs. Kegley."

"I told you to call me Maggie." She said then turned her head towards Aberama. "Mr. Gold, how are you?"

Mr. Gold shrugged smirking, "Just got paid. Mr. Shelby had a request for us earlier this morning." Replied the man. "What about you, Margaret?"

She ignored his question, her eyebrows furrowed, "What happened this morning?"

"Luca Changretta went after Polly's son, at the hospital." Admitted Bonnie Gold wincing. "Maggie, everything is all right." Added the boy and Aberama agreed with his son, but it wasn't enough to make the woman calm down.

"Margaret, we killed two men— Thomas, Arthur are all right." Reassured Aberama Gold, laying a hand on the woman's shoulder and rubbed it softly in an attempt to make her calm again.

She looked up at him, "Is Finn okay? Was he there?"

"He is, he is all right." Quickly talked Bonnie as she let out a sigh of relief, her fingers ran through her hair running the curls she had made previously.

"Fuck." She complained lightly pulling on them. "Bonnie you stay out of problems, stay safe, are we agreeing?" The teenager nodded his head. Margaret grabbed a cigarette and lighted it, instantly relaxing as she inhaled the smoke. "And you. . ."

Aberama arched an eyebrow, "Me what?"

"Be fucking careful." Simply said the woman as she walked out. "Gentlemen." Maggie bowed their heads towards the men, most of them being Peaky Blinders as she headed out.

The Kegley woman sauntered in Small Heath reaching Shelby Company Limited, her hand pushed the door as she was greeted by Lizzie who was sat at her desk. Margaret threw a cigarette outside before sitting on the edge of her desk, a sigh leaving her lips.

"Is Tommy here?" Queried Margaret even though she knew the answer.

Lizzie checked the agenda, "No. He's supposed to be here soon though." Told her Lizzie, and Maggie hummed taking the bottle from the woman's drawer. Lizzie smacked the woman's hand. "Fuck you're doing, Maggie?"

"Just a sip? I'll be quick." Mumbled the brunette before bringing the bottle to her lips. "Didn't have to fucking smack my hand like I'm a damn child, Lizzie." Complained the woman as her friend laughed, snitching the bottle away and putting it back where it was.

The door opened revealing a man with an overcoat, Tommy and a face she knew too well. May Carleton, the horse trainer. Thomas slowly stopped as he reached Margaret's side not excepting her here, he went towards her but she stopped him showing May who was behind.

"Go on." She spoke motioning for him to walk to his office, and to ignore her.

Tommy frowned, "We can talk if you need to."

"Fuck no." Replied Maggie as she shook her head. "This is not important business, but she is." She spoke with an ounce of jealousy in her voice. "May." Smiled Margaret, and stopped her. "Here, if you get too nervous around him." Whispered the Kegley woman, sliding a cigarette in her hand.

"Good morning, Lady Carleton." Interrupted Lizzie looking up.

May glanced down a her, acting superior, "I'm not a lady." Answered May as she joined Thomas in his office, closing the door behind her.

"That you're not." Mumbled Margaret. "I actually hate her, Lizzie. I really fucking do."

The raven haired woman arched an eyebrow with a smirk, "Are you fucking jealous, Maggie?" Queried her friend, holding her cigarette.

"No." Quickly answered the woman, shaking head.

Lizzie gasped, "Yes. You are! What happened?" Talked the woman as she stood up, walking over Margaret and put her hands on each arms. "Come on. Tell me." She whimpered and Margaret laughed.

"Aye, okay." Sighed Maggie, agreeing to tell her. "He took me to the canal, under a bridge, and we kissed." Stated the brunette, rapidly looking away as she refused to look at Lizzie into her eyes knowing she had her mouth opened squealing silently. "Close your fucking mouth, Lizzie."

"Oi, no fucking?"

Margaret stole Lizzie's cigarette as she inhaled the smoke, almost instantly feeling fulfilled and relaxed, "No fucking, Lizzie. I'm not going to fuck him when he might be dead the next day." Declared Maggie. "Maybe when all of this is over, and we're both alive then I'll reconsider the idea."

"Maggie, you almost have him begging on his fucking knees." Laughed the Stark woman, she then sighed sitting back down. "I'm supposed to go in but I don't want to see her."

"Why?"

Lizzie handed her papers, "The end of year accounts for the Grace Shelby Institute. Want to look at them?"

Maggie hummed as she took the file, and started checking for any problems— actually, she was just looking for looking, if we could say things like that. She stood up and went straight into the office.

Thomas leaned back on his desk as May gulped, and Margaret could feel it in the room. Something was going on between the two of them, she hated it. Tommy looked up at her as his eyes flickered between the papers and her eyes.

"The end of year accounts for the Grace Shelby Institute, Mr. Shelby." She expressed faking a smile. "Sorry for interrupting, Mrs. Carleton."

Tommy watched her put them down on the desk, "Already signed off on those, Maggie."

Margaret shrugged, "Lizzie just asked me to check for mistakes, and to bring 'em in." She cleared her throat before starting to walk away. "Have a nice day. I'll go back home now, if you don't mind Mr. Shelby."

Tommy nodded his head, "Go ahead, Mag. I will meet you later, eh?"

Under May's jealous and envious eyes, she left the room. Saying goodbye to Lizzie, she started wondering if May asked questions about her— if she wondered what the woman was for Thomas Shelby. Her hand reached for the door's knob, the smell of lavender hit her nose as she felt finally at home.

Margaret sat on the chair in the kitchen, her mind at peace knowing Charles was safe and sound in his bed. The cigarette between her lips as the smoke invaded her lungs. It was now 6, and Tommy still hadn't make his way back to the house. So she sat in the dark, gun on the table, gin in her hand.  She heard from Charlie that Tommy invited May to see his gin collection, and she wasn't even surprised.

Women liked gin and Thomas Shelby liked women.

It was actually sickening to know that he could kiss her the day before, asked if she wanted to build something with him in the future. What about trust?

The front door closed as she heard his boots on the wooden floor. He turned on the kitchen's lights, his eyes widened in surprise as he saw Margaret sitting there, on her own with one of his Gin bottle. He had to admit with her white suit, she looked like an angel that fell from the sky in the wrong place.

"How's the gin?" He asked.

Maggie didn't look at him as she sighed, putting the glass down, "Not sweet enough."

"All right." He mumbled. "What was that at the office earlier?"

She shrugged, "Have a guess." She muttered standing up and walked past him, her nose caught the sweet perfume. "You fucking smell like her."

He grabbed her wrist and brought her back closer, "You don't get to fucking be jealous, Maggie. We kissed, that's it."

Maggie scoffed, "I don't get to be jealous? I'm not jealous, Tommy. I'm fucking pissed!" She spat. "I'm pissed you kissed me then went on kissing another woman, fucking hell, Tom!"

Tommy sighed rubbing his eyes, he tried to find the right words but he didn't have any— not even an excuse to begin with, "I'm sorry, all right?"

"Are you?" Bitterly chuckled the woman. "I was here with your son while you were thinking of fucking another woman." Maggie sighed sitting down again. "Were you even going to tell me that Michael got almost shot in the fucking head?"

Tommy joined her side, "I was."

He sighed facing his body towards her, his hand moving towards her knee and Maggie didn't even bother smacking it away. She looked away and bit her lower lip, trying to contain the mix of emotions that was consuming her.

"Thomas, I don't want this." Tommy winced as she used his whole name, it felt like poison dripping from her own lips. "I don't want you to go fuck some other women, eh? You fucking hear me, Thomas? I'm not a whore that you can call whenever you want."

His fist tightened as he let out a shaky breath, "All right, are we done?"

Maggie sat straight in her chair, held eye contact with the man as he understood how badly he fucked up things. Margaret was different and no ordinary woman, as she stated it many times making him smile inside every time. The woman was basically a replica of the Shelby man— fearless, a listener, and deadly.

She stood up shooting him a cold glance, "We are."
