Chapter 10
A/N: My 4th Wattpad Birthday Giveaway is over, but don't worry: there will be another one in February as part of the Wattpad Block Party. Anyway, you can see the winners of this one at the bottom of the chapter.
PS: I was thinking about skipping dinner and going straight to the twin's first day in the new school, but since somebody (I'm looking at you Awkward_Little_Me) asked to see Liam's reaction to all things green, here's a bit of that too ;)
*****
Liam's POV
Green.
Green fucking everywhere.
"Well, don't you just stand there, O'Brien." It was Vallery who spoke. "Dinner's getting cold. We've got green peas. And you should try the soda; it's apple flavored. Green apple."
My brother shook his head and whispered something to her; something I couldn't hear.
Had he told her?
Oh, he better not had told Vallery frickin' Reed of all people!
I was so going to get him for it, if he had.
Okay, Liam, just play it cool, I chanted in my head when - after pretty much everyone in the room was giving me a what-the-f-are-you-still-standing-at-the-door-for look - I moved towards the table and sat opposite Nathaniel, between my mom and Mr. Reed.
I looked down. Dark green effin napkins were placed over light green tablecloth.
I looked up towards the Devil's daughter; she was paying no attention to me and was chatting with my brother.
Maybe I am imagining things. Maybe he hadn't told her anything. I'm so going to need a drink to get through this either way though.
I reached towards my glass...
Oh, Hell no!
Green polka dots?
She knows! She frickin' knows!
That was it. I was killing my brother. He can't go around sharing private things about me just 'cause he's had a stupid crush on her since forever. That little...
"Okay, what's going on?" I turned to my mother who had her arms crossed over her chest, her eyes on my face.
"W-what do you mean?"
"W-w-what I mean is," she imitated me, "that you look like a fricking rabbit who's just been caught with a full basket of carrots in someone else's friskin' garden."
"Or cabbage," Vallery murmured... Because cabbage was green?
Was I being paranoid?
"I'm the one from Irish descent in the family; shouldn't I be the one doing the cussing?" Dad suggested.
"Yeah, yeah, that's nice, honey." Mom untangled her arms to wave him off, her gaze still on me. "So?"
"Nothing?" I tried with an unconvincing shrug.
"Val?" Mom was still looking at me.
"Mhm?"
"What do you have on him?"
"Me?" Hell Girl snorted. "I don't have anything on him. Right, Liam, oh, best buddy, oh, best pal?"
Yep. She knew.
Her tone was too sweet to be genuine.
And mom knew that Val knew something. My dad, Nathaniel - everyone now knew that Val knew something about me that I didn't want out there.
I took a deep breath and exhaled. Palms sweaty, hands shaking, I reached for the bowl of the-color-that-shall-not-be-named peas.
"I'm hungry. Who else is hungry?"
Mom shook her head and turned in her seat towards the table.
"As long as you are not getting arrested or making me a grandma..." She muttered and poured herself some juice.
I snuck a glance towards Vallery and Raiden who'd gone back to chatting, purposefully ignoring me.
They were going to pay.
Both of them.

Raiden's POV
"You know what sucks about school?" Val asked as we walked towards my locker during our lunch break.
"That you've had one too many first days at a new school?" I guessed. With them moving so often, she probably held some record for that. Along with Nat, of course.
"That too but," she leaned sideways on the locker next to mine, "I was thinking about how Nat takes AP almost everything and we have almost no classes together."
"Yeah, that probably sucks when you don't know anyone." I agreed, rummaging through my locker.
"But at least I get to have classes with you this year." I didn't need to look at her to know she was grinning.
"Hey."
I knew who'd spoken even before I turned to her. I'd recognize her voice anywhere and I didn't miss the slight, almost I'm-just-saying-hi-and-not-flirting tone.
"Hey, Andy." I moved away from my locker as I greeted her. She was already smiling.
"Haven't seen you much lately; what you've been up to?"
It was purely conversational this time, no hint of wanting to get me alone in one of the classrooms.
"Been showing Nat and Val around." I nodded to my childhood friend . She kept tilting her head up and down as she took in Andy's fit and very se... erm, attractive figure, but she stopped as soon as I introduced her.
"Val, of course." Andy stepped forward and extended her hand in greeting; Val shook it, her eyes slightly narrowed. "Raiden has told me a lot about you and your brother. It seems like you've known each other forever. I'm Andy. Well, it's Andrea actually, but that sounds too pretentious so just call me Andy."
"He's told me a lot about his other friends too," the two let go of each other, "but he's never mentioned you."
Andy giggled.
"Well, we aren't exactly friends." Even though she was still smiling at Val, her gaze met mine. "We just hook up sometimes."
I cleared my throat. It was dry. My cheeks were burning. I wanted to look away from Andy's brown eyes and into Val's blue ones, but instead I just wiped my suddenly sweaty hands into my jeans.
"Oh, really?" Val asked with a bit too much enthusiasm and I had the overwhelming sensation that I was in trouble. As if I'd been caught cheating.
Which was silly.
I hadn't hooked up with Andy after Val moved back to town.
And even that argument was silly as I wasn't with Val in the first place.
"Mhm." Andy turned her attention back on the other girl. "Did he tell you about Phil's party yet?"
"Nope." Her smile was forced, but Andy ignored it. I was sure that she did; she was too clever to miss it was fake.
"Friday night. Raiden knows the address. Bring your swimsuits 'cause our host has got a huge pool. And a foosball and billiard table in the basement." She grinned.
"You like games?" Okay, this time Val could fool her. She actually sounded polite. But I knew her better than that; I knew something was off.
"Are you kidding me?" The other girl snorted. "Love games. Love sports. Love challenges and love kicking ass. Raiden tells me it's something the two of us have in common."
"Andy means in games," I butted in. "She doesn't go around punching people."
"Yeah, I've only done that like a couple of times. My hand always hurts afterwards, but it is worth it."
"It's a pleasant kind of hurt, right?"
Okay... Was Val sincere this time or...?
Even I couldn't tell. Then, she spoke again.
"I should know; I beat the crap out of people all the time."
Nope. She was showing off.
"I think you'll be a lot of fun to be around, Val." Andy looked genuinely interested and by this point my hands were sweatier than the underboob of a fat man in a sauna.
"You know what? I think we'll be late for class." I grabbed Val by the hand and pulled her away.
Not good.
So not good.
Having together the girl I sometimes sleep with and the girl I'm... childhood friends with shouldn't be making me feel this way.
It shouldn't make my palms sweat.
It shouldn't be this stressful.
It shouldn't be panic inducing.
"Hey, Raiden?" I stopped and turned around, still clinging onto Val's wrist. "Can't wait to see you in your swimming trunks."
I groaned when she winked and bit her lip before she swirled and walked away. My body twitched below the waist. The way she'd said that... Andy didn't just want to see me in my swimming trunks; she had set her mind on taking them off me.
I felt a pull and realized Val had retrieved her hand. Very slowly, I turned around to face her.
"So." Her arms were crossed over her chest. "Andy."
"She's..." Hot. Clever. Funny. A good kisser. Darn good at some other things too. "Nice, isn't she?"
My voice came out small.
Never before had I begged for an earthquake and falling between the cracks that formed in the earth.

A/N: We got to get into the heads of both of the O'Brian boys in this chapter. We've done that before with Raiden, but what you think about Liam?
Scared of his closing lines?
Also, Andy: good, bad, doesn't matter - what are your thoughts on that front?
You like her, you dislike her? Why?
What do you think about Ray and Val's reactions to her?
