Chapter 10: Don't encourage them

We are currently at Crust, a pizza parlor, the most popular in town actually.

"A penny for your thoughts, Cathy?" my brother asks, noticing I was deep in thought.

"I can't decide whether we should do go-karting or paintball today" I rest my head on my palm.

"Why not just do both?" Anais suggests before opening her mouth so Zack could feed her.

"Good point" I shrug, taking another pizza slice.

"Have you decided yet?" Blaze came back with the milkshake I  told him to get. "And I hope you don't mind sharing with me."

"Do you think we could do both today?" I said as I grabbed the milkshake from him.

"It could fit in a day" he replies as he sat beside me, sipping the drink.

"Aww, indirect kiss" Anais cooes.

"Don't encourage them" Axel frowns at her. Blaze and I laugh at this.

-*-

"Watch out for them, Cat" Blaze winks at me before we start the game, "The rules were if you get hit three times, you're out of the game, don't disappoint me, Cat"

The team making sucks. Let's rewind shall we?

"I'm sorry but we only allow 6 players per team at most. One of you will have to go to the other team," the manager explained.

"No way" Blaze frowns.

"We settle it by picking out a name, please write your name these strips and put them in this box," he continues. We did what was told.

"Catherine?" he said after picking out a name. Of course, it just had to be me.

"Sucks to be you" Blaze says, containing his laugh.

"I don't even know who I'm playing with" I whine.

"Don't worry, Ms. You're teams with our regular customers. They're experts at it," he smiles.

"Thanks," I smile back, feeling a little bit better.

And so we started. I met up with my team and got into introductions while the timer was counting down to let us into the arena.

"Ah, you must be Cat," the blonde boy said once he saw me. His friends turned around and smiled at me.

"Yeah, and you are?" I ask.

"I'm Sam," he smiled, holding his hand out for a handshake.

"Nice to meet you" I smile back. His friends greet me next and by the time we finished, the timer ran out.

"Follow me," Sam whispered as he crouches down behind the fake boulders. He shoots my friends and defends me. Axel's friends were knocked out of the game by Sam all by himself.

"You're amazing at this" I giggle. The noise must've attracted people to come to me. I feel two shots at my back, making me yelp and I turn around to see Anais. Traitor.

Before she shoots me again with an evil smirk, Sam shoots her three times. He gets shot by Zack who stood by her the whole time but even he failed to knock Sam out.

I looked around, trying to find Blaze. Did we win so easily? I didn't think that Blaze would act so cocky if he wasn't going to win anyway.

Sam grabs my hand and pulled me into a maze kind of tree path.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"We have to hide, two of your friends are still in the game and you've only got one life left" he looks at me over his shoulder. Once he thinks we were already safe he stops but he doesn't let go of my hand. I tried to free my arm but he tightens his grip.

He turns around with a malicious grin and panic rises in my chest.

"HELP!" I scream at the top of my lungs. He smirks and pushes me against the wall and covers my mouth.

"Shut up, I'm pretty sure my friends and I knocked out yours so they can't save you." he was raping me with his eyes and he licks his lips. "Now, give me a taste"

He looked back at my eyes and slowly uncover my mouth. I made a step to escape but he catches my hands and held them above my head.

"Move and I'll make sure to leave you naked in the streets after we're done" he slowly leans forward but stops and looks behind him.

I felt my body scream relief when I saw Blaze had shot him.

"Stay the hell away from her" he growls and aims again.

"Or what?" Sam smirks and lets go of one hand to tighten his grip on the other. A dark look passes Blaze's face and he shoot Sam in the most painful place possible. Sam let go and held his crotch, falling to the ground in pain.

I ran to Blaze and couldn't help but cry. It was the most frightening thing in my life-- besides losing my mom. He held me tight and stroked my hair, calming me down.

"You have to shoot me three times now" he whispers. "You have to survive paintball, remember?"

I hesitated but nod and shot him thrice. We made our way out of the arena and took our gears off. Once outside Blaze see Sam again, the bastard started walking towards us.

Still shaken, I hold onto Blaze's arm and hid my face with my hair.

"Listen, I'm sorry, I didn't know she had a boyfriend" he apologizes.

"Even if she doesn't you shouldn't do that to a girl" Blaze growls, clenching his fists.

"I know, I just couldn't hold myself back"

I try to hold him back but I was too late, Blaze lunge at him and punched the hell out of Sam, I ran to him and pulled him away.

"Please stop, let's just go," I plead. Blaze didn't say anything and brought me to the car but not before giving Sam one last glare.

"What happened?" Axel asked from the other car with the other four.

"Better to not talk about it" Blaze saved me from answering. I went into his car and we drove off to the Go-Kart place.

"Are you okay?" Blaze glances at me.

"Shaken, but I'm okay," I answer honestly. I looked at my bruising wrist and rubbed it.

"That bastard. He did that to you?" Blaze sees the bruise.

"I'm fine. It'll go away, thank you for saving me back there" I smile.

"I couldn't let anyone do that to you, especially now that your brother trusts me"

I stay silent and just placed my hand on his to assure him that it was all okay.

-*-

We were laughing non-stop as we bumped each other off of the track to get ahead. Obviously, I couldn't win.

No, not because I suck. It's because Blaze was too good.

Everytime I get ahead of him, he'd catch up and throw a wink my way.

Let's just say, Blaze won and that this was an interesting day.

Look at how far I've gone.

8 things left to cross off...
