Chapter 7 - The raffle

Lucy was completely still with those words, but didn't seem annoyed. She only got scared after realizing that the owner of the clothes she had just disliked was by Henrie's side. She quickly turned to Tod and apologized.

"Sorry Tod! I ... I really didn't know." She stammered. "It's just that I never really saw Henrie ..."

"Fine, no problem." Tod said, interrupting. "In fact, I also thought he would complain about the clothes." He whispered to her, smiling at the end.

She smiled back, all disconcerted by his kindness, but her face soon closed when she looked back at Henrie.

"And you have nothing to say to me?"

"I actually have! What are you doing here at school?"

She was startled by the question and replied:

"So glad you asked, I transferred for here." She smiled.

"You what?" He exclaimed. "As well? You didn't tell me anything!"

"If you had answered one of my calls you would have known." She whispered. "Okay, it's a lie! The headmaster of my school decided to help groups from various schools, and as I am the chairman of my college, I ended up choosing your school as one of them, and they accepted.

"To help? As well? That doesn't even make sense."

"My school developed a partnership with the state in which we had to present a project to improve the groups of the college, and with great effort we were able to create a schedule to organize each group in 100% of use.

Henrie was impressed by it, so much so that his anger automatically ended. He just took a deep breath and looked at Tod who seemed to be on top of it, and actually he was because it was about that dawn call, being the chairman of all of groups there was no way not to know that.

"I'm so sorry!" Henrie whispered to her.

"Okay! I understand, but please answer my calls next time, I was worried." She finished hugging him and trying to fill him with kisses on the cheek.

Henrie seemed not to worry about what she said, just turned to Tod and said:

"We will talk later! Good class!" He smiled and walked down the hill to his classroom with Lucy.

Tod sketched nothing and just walked down the halls to his classroom. He noticed that Fred had arrived and just approached and sat next to him.

"Where have you been? I texted you and didn't answer me." Fred exclaimed.

"My cellphone was dead." He lied.

"Discharged? I know ..." Fred ignored him and took some thing in his backpack and put it on the table saying nothing more.

Classes seemed like an eternity to Tod, but he simply kept his focus even with his head wondering what Lucy was planning for the high school board. At break, Fred and Tod hardly talked, but Henrie who was sitting at a table in the back of the cafeteria kept staring at Tod, which made him uncomfortable.

"Is he still on your feet?" Fred asked putting some grapes in his mouth when he saw that scene.

"I don't know... He's different." He replied starring back at Henrie and neither of them felt intimidated or embarrassed just looked at each other.

Fred noticed that and just chuckled and went back to eating. It wasn't long before Lucy watched where Henrie was looking and their eyes met Tod's. She just greeted him from afar, but didn't seem angry or anything. However, Tod was completely embarrassed to see that he was staring at Henrie seconds ago and she probably would have noticed. He went all red and bowed his head.

"I'm going back to classroom." He said.

"As well? But I haven't even finished eating!"

"You finish eating in the classroom." Tod answered already leaving to canteen.

Fred quickly grabbed his snack and followed him already saying:

"Calm! What happened?"

"Nothing... It's just that I wasn't feeling well with those smells of various foods."

"Hmmm... Are you pregnant?" Fred joked trying to get a smile from his friend, but seemed to have the opposite effect causing him to roll his eyes.

Henrie noticed Tod's abrupt departure and his eyes followed him, but he didn't move, because he was still afraid of last night's event.

"Are you okay, dear? Lucy asked.

"Yes, I'm just a little tired."

"So, enjoy and eat well because after the class we will have the council meeting and you need to be in a good mood." She smiled.

On the way back to classroom, Lucy and Henrie went to the same class, since if she were too stay for a few days at the school it would not mean that she wouldn't study, on the contrary, she had to meet a minimum requirement while in this program.

The last class was from Mrs. Barnes, who taught chemistry. An old lady, very cute, but strict. She wasn't so affectionate with the class, but she loved Tod because he always got the best grades in his class and always participated. As he left the classroom, Tod greeted her with a smile, said goodbye to Fred, and went out to the council room.

As he opens the door, Tod can notice that Mr. Larry High School Director, Lucy, Henrie and other group leaders were already there.

"Tod, I'm glad you arrived!" The director exclaimed. "Just missing you."

Tod smiled, sat down and answered:

"Thank you, Sir!"

"Well, then I think we can start," he coughed, "This is Miss Lucy from the College of Light, and they partnered with the state to organize the finances and funds of their college group, as they were going through a crisis. And because Lucy's project was a success, they decided to extend it into a program to help other schools." The director finished facing everyone to make sure they understood.

Lucy then smiled and thanked him.

"But let's let the founder of this all explain to us how it will work."

"Well, first of all, thanks for the words! I am Lucy, and I am the student president of College of Light and together with my teammates we have made the most of each group and made them self-sustaining. And I hope that with your collaboration we can do the same at your college." She smiled, followed by several applauses, until Tod began to speak.

"And how do you intend to institute this in our college?" He asked completely interested in the subject.

"Actually, Tod! We'll hold a raffle with the presidents of each group, including you. Because I believe the raffle is the most fair and democratic, and so in pairs each president can help the group with which he was drawn.

"But how can they help each other being that completely different groups can be selected?" he replied.

"That's right!" She exclaimed. "Our idea is that. Because a person who is also president goes through the same problems, but in different way, and the outsider solves the situation better because he is not in it, understand?"

"Oh yes, I get it! And I in all this, how will I get in?

"You, as president, will have to do a triple job. You will be drawn with a group to help you. I will be with you to help you as well, and it will also help me organize the other groups that will also need our oversight.

Tod didn't seem to like the idea much. He wondered if it was all Lucy's idea to make him busy with, but at the same time it didn't seem to make any sense, since she had nothing against him. Was she doing this out of jealousy of his friendship with Henrie? His mind didn't understand that very well, but if it was for the good of the school, he should do it.

Henrie was completely quiet, just like the other group presidents, but he didn't like that at all. Lucy quickly passed a paper for each to sign the group they belonged to and their name. Before long, all the papers were in a dark bag.

"Well then let's go to the rafflle." She said putting her hand and taking a note.

"The Art's group..." she said already taking out another paper, "with the painting group." She smiled, looking at his presidents.

And so, went the raffle of each group: chemistry with astrology; dance with music; and so, it was until Lucy took name of Henrie:

"And now the Henrie Letters club with..." She said looking at Henrie just taking the paper out "TOD!" She exclaimed with a small note of anger in her voice.
