Chapter 6 - Disappointments
Tod was completely out of reaction with that question. His heart sped up in a completely different way. His face was clearly flushed, he was not sketchy on the outside, but inside his body was on fire, but he could not tell what kind they were, but he was almost sure they were angry.
It didn't take long and he replied:
"I ... I don't ..." he gasped, "think so ..." At that moment he remembered how Henrie was very alone at home and if he appeared out of nowhere, he should have a reason, then immediately concluded
"It would be no problem for you to stay here today". He let out her breath.
Henrie without even thinking opened that smile that only he could do. He could rule an entire nation with just a smile. Tod noticed and automatically smiled back, so much so that only then did he realize it. That exchange of glances did not take more than fifteen seconds, but I would say that in their heads it lasted an eternity
That movie scene was broken by one of them, but it didn't look grotesque, it was very subtle. Henrie approached Tod as he faced him and hugged him as if grateful for all that. Tod, in turn, still looked frozen and didn't notice his gesture, at least not instantly. Only a few seconds later he returned the hug wrapping his arms around Henrie.
"Thank you", whispered Henrie.
"It's all right! But don't get used to it". He snorted.
Henrie just giggled and then they went up to the room in iconic silence. But I can summarize that both were thinking at the moment that had just occurred.
"Tod, I forgot!" he exclaimed "There's still class tomorrow, and I didn't bring anything, would you mind lending some clothes?
"Sure" he answered dryly, since he didn't much like the idea of sharing his things.
Tod went at his millimeter-sized wardrobe and pulled out a white shirt with light gray vertical stripes and a dark jeans.
"I think it will look good on you." He said with a smile on his face.
Henrie noticed the smile and for the first time had no reaction in front of Tod. He didn't understand what it was, but he didn't let himself go, just felt that moment that he knew was good for him. It filled him in a different way.
"Thank you". He gasped.
"Ah! And I separated for you a sleepwear", he handed it to him, "And if you want to take a shower, the bathroom is right there". He pointed to a door inside the room.
Henrie picked up the clothes for tomorrow and the sleeping clothes, and headed for the bathroom door. Tod sat up in bed and began fiddling with his cell phone checking the notifications he received on the day.
Entering the bathroom, Henrie came across flawless organization. The bathroom wasn't big, but it was all organized. He just propped Tod's clothes on a small dresser in the bathroom, which he found odd, but soon removed his clothes. He stepped into the stall and turned on the shower.
Her mind seemed to automatically relax with that water falling over his body, but that sensation was short-lived until it began to be invaded by today's events.
His body became hot and the beat accelerated gradually. He couldn't deny it, his mind was thinking of Tod and no matter how much he tried to change his mind, he always returned. The shower was quick, he needed to distract his thoughts, because besides, he was at the creator's house of all this.
As soon as he got out of the shower, he took Tod's clothes, and realized that his pajamas were at least funny, light and comfortable, but a little short for him since he was bigger than Tod. As he came out of the bathroom, Tod stared at him and couldn't stand it and let out a small laugh that was soon muffled by his own hands.
"What are you laughing about? There's nothing funny here".
"No?", laughs, "Of course you have! But until it matched you!"
Henrie just ignored him.
"I think you better go take a shower before I drop you there." Henrie said holding his breath with his fingers hinting at Tod's scent.
Tod just threw a pillow at him annoyed grabbed a towel and went to the bathroom.
Tod's shower was faster than Henrie's, and his mind was not overrun by those thoughts, which would be a breakthrough for him. Soon he was out of the shower and Henrie was sitting on the edge of Tod's bed fiddling with his cell phone.
He just approached without Henrie's notice and threw the towel over his head. At the same instant he noticed and retaliated by going over him with his towel, they continued this joke until Henrie fell over Tod on the bed. They looked at each other. Again, that look exchange that in their minds would take forever. Henrie's pupils dilated instantly and Tod can see that. His eyes sparkled like never before.
Their breaths grew louder and louder as this noise echoed through the room. The bodies were hot and the beat of one fought against the other.
Henrie stared at him and almost unknowingly began to bring his face close to his. Tod was still paralyzed, as usual. He moved closer, but when his lips almost touched, Tod's phone started ringing and vibrating on the bed. In a fright Tod pushed Henrie to the side of the bed and quickly picked up the phone. It was Rosie from the photography group. He answered her and they started talking about the board. He just didn't understand why she called so late, but it was to warn that he would have an extraordinary meeting the next day to sort out the group budget.
Henrie lay with lost thoughts, almost blaming himself for what had almost happened, because besides that he was dating and couldn't do that to Lucy
Tod's call was quick and soon he was back in his room. He just nodded with a smile and went to his side of the bed and lay turning his back to him. Henrie noticed that forced smile and knew it wasn't all right. He turned off the light and lay beside him on his back, too, but at least he could not fall asleep so quickly, since in his mind he had just ruined a friendship.
The next day, everything was resolved quickly and with almost no contact. At breakfast, Mrs. Evans prepared some omelets and helped themselves, talked to Henrie about book club matters, and took the opportunity to leave them both at school.
Henrie realized that Tod didn't even talk to him properly and every time he tried, he would either dodge or respond in a nutshell. He was sad about that, because he really didn't want to ruin something that was so good for him, but let things go a little further so that he could work it out.
When they got to school, Tod kissed her mother good-bye on the cheek and Henrie said good-bye to her with another inside joke. They then entered the school, but for some reason before they could take another step Lucy came running to Henrie to greet him, but she didn't seem to be doing so. Henrie just didn't understand, since Lucy didn't study at that school, and what was she doing there? But before finding an answer she said:
"Henrie! May I know where you were last night, because I texted you and you didn't answer me?" He huffed angrily, almost shouting.
"Ac... tually..." he stammered.
"And what clothes are these? I never saw you wear something like that". She interrupted him with a disgusted air for those garments.
"THEY BELONG TO TOD! OKAY?" He shouted with a furious look at her as she complained about his clothes, which made Lucy a little confused and thoughttful because Henrie was wearing this boy's clothes.
