Chapter 18 - Rage

Henrie's heart accelerated dramatically. His body became hot and his face showed anger with mixed jealousy. He tried to get closer to listen to the conversation better trying not be noticed:

"Yes, I'm Tod..." He answered with a wry smile. "And you are...?

"I'm Josh from the photography club, remember?"

"Yes..." Tod said pretending to remember, but he also noticed how imposing Josh's voice was. Tod stared at him for a few seconds trying to recognize, and of course, he couldn't help but notice his beauty. A protruding jaw, he was taller, with a large body, which made Tod a little lost, since he didn't even remember any Josh from the photography club, so much so that he tried to search his mind in all his conversation with Rosie, the president of the photography club and got no results.

"Tod...? Hi?" Josh asked looking at him and waving his hand in front of his eyes trying to get his attention.

"Hi! Excuse..."

"Are you all right?"

"It's all right, it's just that I'm very tired." He disagreed.

"You should see that, man." Josh said resting his hand on Tod's shoulder giving a light slap.

Henrie was watching it all with a fury in his eyes. He couldn't understand how much it could irritate him. He just wanted to know who that kid was and why he was touching Tod's shoulder? But he tried to control himself to try to get more information.

"Well then... What would be the subject you would like to talk to me about? Tod asked.

"So... Rosie didn't talk to you?"

"With me? About what?"

"About my replacement at the photography club..."

Tod did not understand. He couldn't remember that. Had Rosie talked to him about it? Lately she had informed him of so many things that she could have said and he didn't even notice.

"Not really..." He replied in a low tone. "Sorry... but, on second thought, she may have commented. She has informed me of so much lately, but she has no problem with the replace... Now answer me, why did this replacement happen?"

"Rosie started a photo edition course that she wanted so much, and it conflicted with the council's schedule, so she put me in the charge of the replacement... even she said that this was even discussed in the council.

"Was?" Tod asked putting his hand behind his head not remembering what had happened.

"Well then and she said that I could look for you and that you would help me with these bureaucratic issues of the council."

"Oh, I understand..." Tod exclaimed thinking of another job that he would have ahead, but did not hesitate and replied:

"Ok, no problem! I was even going to the council now, why don't we go together?" He asked already walking towards the council room and soon being followed by Josh.

Henrie in turn, felt those words cut through his body. Why would Tod invite the boy to join him? He couldn't understand the reason for this, but he did not restrain himself from pursuing the two without being noticed, since he would also need to go to the council.

Tod continued the journey explaining to Josh everything about the council and everything he would need to do. Josh, for his part, was enthusiastic, paying attention to every small detail, which made Tod excited, as he always loved to explain anything.

The conversation was so good that they didn't even realize they were practically standing in front of the door to the council. Henrie realizing that, was not content to pass between the two in not so friendly way:

"Excuse!" He said, deliberately bumping his shoulder over Josh's, causing him to destabilize a little and shortly afterwards Josh replied:

"Excuse!"

Henrie simply ignored Josh's apology. His furious gaze could be seen for miles away, which made Josh retreat a little automatically. Tod, on realizing all that situation, just ignored Henrie and went to meet Josh:

"Are you alright?" He asked, placing his hands on Josh's shoulder.

"Yes..." He replied in a low tone all downcast.

Tod was outraged by Henrie's childish attitude and just said:

"Don't worry, don't mind him... He's like that." He said almost shouting the lasts words.

Henrie saw the whole scene and felt completely betrayed, but he knew there was nothing he could, since the reason this was all happening was himself. He just let out a long sigh that was noticed by Tod and went to his chair, taking his cell phone out of his pocket and not greeting anyone.

Tod and Josh entered shortly afterwards causing a little doubt in the other group presidents, who were present, because even though they had already warned that Josh would be in Rose's place, they were unable to associate this immediately:

"Who is he?" Lisa asked, the president of the computer group. Her voice was so thin and shrill that it managed to echo through the room. In fact, she didn't like to speak for that very reason, but she just couldn't help it.

Tod was suddenly taken aback by the question, and for a few seconds completely forgot to answer, until when he managed to formulate a sentence in his mind, that deep and powerful voice echoed through the room:

"I'm Josh, from the photography group, I'll be a substitute for Rosie."

Everyone was numb with that voice that didn't match the person who emitted it at all, but in some very strange way it fit so well, which made it a complete paradox.

"Yes..." Tod concluded heading to the table with Josh. All the girls in the room were watching Josh parade with his beauty and didn't seem to mind looking at him, even some boys were impressed and couldn't divert his attention.

Tod sat down, but realized that Henrie didn't seem to be present mentally in the room, as he didn't take his eyes off the cell phone, but he didn't let himself be moved by it. In fact, he couldn't deny that he missed talking to him; however, he knew it was for the best.

Tod then decided to start the meeting, since there would be many issues on the agenda to discuss that day. However, before Tod could say anything, he was interrupted by that voice again. Everyone was startled, including Henrie who felt his blood boil when he heard that voice again, so much so that he didn't help but show his contemptuous look at the words that would be emitted. It was Josh who had just said the following words to the president of History group:

"Excuse! I don't want to disturb the meeting, but could you switch places with me so I can sit next to Tod?"
