(28) The End: Part 2

                         Cory's POV
We all stood in a tight group, eyeing the creatures cautiously, our weapons drawn. "If you wish to save you're friend, then you must go through my army!" Ross announced, making me clench my teeth in anticipation. This was too be the final battle. The thing that'd we'd been preparing for since the beginning. Everything we'd done, and ever will do, all depends on this single moment.  I breathed deeply, preparing for a fight. This was sure to be one heck of a final battle. Ross smiled insanely, "Attack, my creations! Rid of them!" He exclaimed, and all the creatures launched forward.

We all rushed forward aswell, intersecting the large horde. I slashed to and fro blindly, trying to make out one bloody, decaying body from another. There was hundreds of creatures surrounding my friends and I, causing mass confusion. I felt blood splatter on my face and skin as everyone fought with a fierce fury, as though we were warriors, fighting for our lives. Though, in this case, we kinda were. I snarled menacingly as I ripped through a a creatures chest with my knife, tasting the creatures stale, metallic blood as it splashed onto my tounge.

I glanced beside me, seeing Nick there, slashing roughly at creatures with his hatchet. I also couldn't help but notice the evident fear twinkling in his chocolatey-brown eyes. I couldn't blame him for being scared, though. The creatures outnumbered us 100 or more, to 6, and they were closing in fast. My eye filled with determination as I felt a familiar satisfaction as I heard the sound of bones cracking, and blood splattering onto the ground. Then, I froze as I heard a familiar female voice screech, "Jon!" I looked back immediately. I gasped as I saw Jon on his knees, hacking painfully, creatures circling around him.

I immediately whipped around, running to his aid, as did many of the others. I slashed strongly at the back of one of the creatures, sending it roughly to the ground. I saw Ashlie, Dawn, and Nick helping aswell, but I was alarmed to see that Tommy was nowhere to be seen. I looked around frantically, but there was still no sign of Tommy. I took in a shaky breath, looking back forward, continuing to defend Jon. Focus on the task at hand... I thought wordlessly as I slashed a creatures head off it's shoulders. I grinded my teeth together as I heard Ross' laughter ring through the air, He's enjoying this... I thought bitterly.

After a few minutes, I'm sad too say, we were losing the battle. We were two men down, and the four of us could barely keep up with the oncoming hordes. Jon was seemingly unconcious once more, and Tommy was nowhere to be seen, leaving us to only assume the worst. I was panting at this point, as were the others. We were all exhausted from the non-stop fighting, but we couldn't stop now, there was too much to fight for. I heard Ashlie scream and my head shot in her direction, and I was shocked to see a creature rearing back to bite her.

It's head shot downwards, about to make sharp contact with her flesh, but before it could, a knife was impaled through it's skull with a terrible force, snapping it's neck. Dawn panted, yanking the knife from the creatures skull. "Thanks... " Ashlie sighed, and Dawn smiled lightly at her before continuing to fight the fierce battle. Just stop fighting...You won't win...There's too many...You're going to die anyway... A part of me told myself, giving me a hopeless feeling. "There's too many!" Nick screamed as we were being pushed closer too the wall. "We'll need a miracle to get out of this one!" Dawn added, dragging Jon carefully along with us. Then, as if on cue, a loud, familiar voice rang through the air. "Hey worms! Get a load of this!" He screamed, and I looked over in relief. Tommy stood on a table, holding a handful of small objects, while holding one up with his other hand. They were small items, and they appeared to be some sort of small bomb.

I smiled, clapping happily, and I saw Tommy smile a bit. "Take that!" He screamed, and I watched in sharp curiousity as he threw the bomb into the back of the room, resulting in a large explosion in the back of the large horde. Agonized screeches filled the room as a wave of heat washed over everyone, and the ground shook, some of the walls cracking. "Look out!" He then warned, and we all ducked as he through a small bomb into the middle of the horde, resulting in a painful wave of fire raking over us.

"Don't kill us, Tommy!" Nick yelled at the older boy. Tommy looked at us, "Not the plan!" He retorted, throwing two more bombs at the creatures. But this time the ground heaved beneath us, sending us all to the ground. A crack filled the air aswell, making me tense. "You idiot! You're going to kill us all!" I heard Ross scream, followed by another loud explosion. I coughed as smoke from the bombs filled my lungs, along with some dust from the cracking walls. I heard screeches of creatures, felt the heat of fire, and smelled the dark smell of burning flesh.

Another explosion rang through the air, making me cover my ears, and more cracking filled the air. I began to feel a strange sensation, as though something was wrong. Very wrong. "Tommy! The ceiling!" Ashlie screamed in warning. And I slowly looked up, seeing that the second floor of the large building was about to cave into our first level. Then, I suddenly felt someone grab me, and I was suprised to look beside me and see Uni holding my arm tightly, fear glistening in his gaze. "Uni!" I cheered happily. "We need to go!" He exclaimed, yanking me up, and running with me to the others. We helped them up, "We need to leave, now!" Uni exclaimed, but suddenly loud cracking began to fill the room, "Too late!" Dawn yelled. Uni scanned the room, his eyes soon landing on the table that Tommy had been standing on. "There! C'mon!" He screamed as the ceiling began to cave in. We all ran to the table, sliding under it. Loud cracks roared in the air, and the ground shook. Then the loudest crack yet filled the air, and everything went black.

A/N The next chapter WILL be the last chapter before the epilogue. And it should be kinda short, but I still hope it will suffice. Now, let me just say, it has been an honor writing this story for you guys, and I'm SO happy you enjoy it! And as always, I HOPE YOU HAVE AN AMAZING DAY, AND GOODBYE PEEPS!!!
