Apartments
Evelina wanted to be mad at Peter, but she couldn't. After he romantically asked her if she would give him the honor to be his girlfriend down at the beach, the bowl of spaghetti she had left behind at the loft was forgotten, and she was over the moon.
Although she knew they were already in a committed relationship, her pregnant belly said it all, it was very considerate of Peter to actually ask her formally.
After his beautiful speech and the steamy kiss they shared, Peter and Evelina took a long walk down the beach. Evie couldn't remember the last time they had a pleasant date without the threat of death hanging over their heads, and she remembered to enjoy the calm moment as much as she could.
"Evelina, I never asked what the gender of the baby is..."
"Oh min kjære, I don't even know myself."
They both fell silent. Peter cleared his throat and Evelina raised an eyebrow at him. She began to shake her head when she knew what he was going to say.
"No."
"But love-"
"I don't want to know what the baby is! I want it to be a surprise..."
"Then how the hell are people going to give us gifts if they don't know the gender?"
"They'll give us gifts anyway, Peter, people are suckers when it comes to a baby!"
Peter scoffed and shook his head.
"Our baby is going to look stupid in mismatched clothes, just because we don't know the gender. It's going to be wearing a blue shirt with pink pants."
"And it will still look adorable," Evelina said smugly. She knew not knowing the gender would drive Peter crazy.
And she was all ready for it.
"By the way, a sudden change of topic..." Peter wrapped his arms around Evelina in an attempt to sweeten the news he was about to drop on his girlfriend.
"That doesn't sound too good..." Evie mumbled.
"If you're going to say something stupid, I'm going to sit on you, and not the good way," she threatened. She relaxed when she felt a kiss on her shoulder. She growled.
"Stop trying to win me over, Pan, and tell me what you have done."
Peter gave a soft laugh before burying his face deep into her neck.
"I got us a place."
"You fucking what?!"
~
When Peter took Evelina to go see the place he had somehow gotten to his name, she was conflicted.
On one hand, Evie was excited about the idea of moving to her own place. But on the other, she knew Snow and David were not going to be thrilled, and she didn't want to be the one to break their hearts. They had done so much for her, they were practically her second parents.
So she decided to let Peter break the news.
"You're insane if you think I'm telling them," Peter said when they made it back to the loft. Evelina clicked her tongue as she fished her keys out of her purse.
"Well, I'm not telling them," she mumbled. Her stomach suddenly growled and she turned to Peter.
"Was there any spaghetti left? I'm still hungry," she asked. Peter chuckled.
"I don't think there's any food left, my love. But I'm sure Snow bought you back some leftovers from their date."
Evelina's face brightened and she quickly unlocked the door.
When she opened the door, a strange odor invaded their noses and Evelina gagged.
"Oh god, what is that horrid smell?!"
"Brussel sprouts!" Snow exclaimed as she showed them a plate full of the terrible vegetable. Peter scrunched his nose.
"Gross, brussels sprouts, that's worst than no food," Peter scoffed as he pushed Evelina right back out the door. He pulled his girlfriend out of the building.
"Where are we going?"
"To get you some actual food. No child of mine is going to eat brussels sprouts!"
Peter led Evelina to Granny's Diner, where they both got take out and headed to the park to eat.
"I have a question," Evelina started and Peter glanced up from his burger with a raised eyebrow.
"Okay..."
"What happened to the lost boys?"
Peter hummed. He quickly swallowed his food and wiped his mouth.
"I left Felix in charge."
"... And are we ever going back? You know, to Neverland?"
Peter chugged his Coca-Cola and shrugged.
"Not with the baby coming," he said smoothly. Evelina frowned and looked down to her own burger.
"But... Neverland-"
"As much as I love ruling Neverland, I will only do it as long as you're by my side... And with the baby on the way, the island isn't a good place to raise a child."
Evelina stayed silent. She had never thought about the fact that if the new parents returned back to Neverland, they would also have to raise their child there. She tried to think of her baby carving spears with Felix, hunting with Nibs, and learning how to swim with Melody.
She actually liked it.
The pleasant image befuddled her but it quickly slipped away and diminished into a new picture.
The second image was just her and Peter, in a lovely apartment overlooking the Storybrooke pier. She was standing by the window, holding her baby when Snow and Charming walked in to see her with wide grins.
The thought of her life in Storybrooke made her smile. It was a beautiful idea, but Evelina knew the sacrifices Peter would be making. He would be giving up the entire establishment he had back on his island. And the lost boys... Evelina didn't know what would become of them.
"Peter, what about the boys?"
"They can take care of themselves, my love. Felix knows what to do."
Evelina knew eventually he would miss his followers. They were all his friends, even though Peter denied it. She was the reason why Peter was here, trying to be a father to a baby that wasn't even born.
Evelina placed her burger down and sighed.
"Should we go see apartment then, love?" Peter asked as he turned to his girl. Evelina slowly nodded and took his arm.
"Yes, alright. Let's go."
~
When Evelina stepped into her new apartment, she nearly died of happiness. It was a loft, just like Snows. She could already see her life with Peter there.
Strong arms found their way around her waist, and a pleasant kiss was placed on her neck.
"So... What do you think, my love?" He whispered. Evelina nodded as she ran her hand over the beautifully carved etchings that decorated the stairs.
"I adore it. And so does the baby," she said as she patted her stomach. He suddenly twirled her around and she gave a giggle.
"Min kjære," she whispered.
Peter turned Evelina's body towards the kitchen and waved his arms.
"So, how should we decorate this place? Color scheme? Crystal or clay?" He exclaimed. Evelina rolled her eyes before punching her boyfriend.
"You still have to ask David if I can move out. You need his blessing," she reminded with a smirk. She knew David would put up a fight when it came to her and Peter. The chances of her leaving were slim.
But she didn't want to crush Peter's dreams.
She'll leave that up to Prince Charming.
And even though she wanted to love in the apartment, she also wanted to witness the look on David's face when Peter asked for her to move out.
It was definitely an event that would need popcorn.
~
When the couple arrived back to the Charming's loft, they were greeted with a red-faced David. His arms were crossed and if he was a cartoon, steam would be blowing out his ears.
"Where have you been?!" Snow screeched as she raced downstairs. She clutched onto Evelina and looked for injuries.
"Is the baby okay?!"
"Well yes-"
"Doctor Whale called today! He wishes to see you tomorrow about your baby!" Snow yelled and let a couple of tears escape. Evelina let out a sigh as she knew Snow could only think of the worst.
"What if something's wrong?! What if you have quadruplets?! We don't have space!" Snow rambled. Evelina quickly glanced at Peter. He knew this was his chance to bring the apartment up.
Peter cleared his throat and began to rehearse his words.
But with one glance at David, he lost all confidence.
"I should take you to the doctor tomorrow, baby," Peter said, chickening out of his confrontation with David. He rushed upstairs without another word and Evelina glared at him.
"What a fucking pansy."
