(6) Fair Play
Millie~
"Why Litas?" I inwardly cursed my choice of footwear. In case you didn't know, Litas have an extremely chunky heel which is of no use to me when trying to defend myself against two men just as I did the last time.
I bit the hand of the moron who covered my mouth and at the same time managed to throw my can of Coke on him, the dark brown liquid sloshing over his face. He retracted his hand quickly and wiped his face with his other hand, squinting because the fizzy drink had got into his eyes. I flashed a satisfactory smirk, before turning my attention to the fact that I was trapped.
"What the fuck do you morons want?!" I hissed as the other idiot pinned me against the back of the booth. What is it with these guys and pinning to walls?
"You disrupted our business, you little bitch!" Moron One, the one whose hand I had bitten, growled at me.
"If I'm a bitch, you two idiots are no more than a pair of moronic bastards!" I spat back at them. The one who had me pinned pulled me away from the booth and then shoved me back against it roughly.
"I'd watch your mouth if I were you," he hissed at me, pushing me harder against the cool wall.
"Or what?!" I replied cockily. Okay, so I was playing with fire here, since these two idiots could quite capably beat me to pulp. I just had a feeling that that wasn't going to happen today. One more move from Moron Two and I'd have him pinned.
Moron One then began to enlighten me on all the things he would do but I stopped listening when, out of the corner of my eye, a figure came into view. This figure wasn't thuggish or bulky like the two morons were, but was muscular and tall. Oblivious to this, Moron One continued to talk but was suddenly silenced as the figure hit him in the back of the head, knocking him straight to the floor. Due to the sudden silence, Moron Two's grip on me loosened and he turned around. I carried out the same maneuver that had been used on his friend and knocked him straight to the ground.
Should I have been surprised by who my 'rescuer' was?
"Who's the rescuer now, Ward?" his voice cut through the air like a knife cutting cheese. I looked up after I had stepped over the two thugs lying at my feet. His brown eyes shone in the moonlight as he smirked at me.
"I had everything under control, Wright? Which reminds me... Why the hell did you just help me!?" I used the same words he had used when I had helped him; however I hadn't known who he was then. The reasons for my rescue were valid, his, not so much.
"Yeah, that's why he was explaining all the ways he was going to hurt you?" Nick replied crossing his arms over his chest lazily but still not answering the true question.
"Stop avoiding my question, Wright!" I half shouted at him, but I looked around when I did, aware that there were actual people nearby. I relaxed a little when I realised that I had only just been grabbed by two massive men and threatened, and nobody, other than apparently Nick Wright, had noticed.
"An eye for an eye, Ward," he then replied coolly. My fists balled up. I could have punched him, or floored him or whatever else I could do which would hurt him and I would still be annoyed with him. An eye for an eye was quite frankly the worst saying I have ever heard. I saved him the first time because he was in my way and I had no idea who he was, the least he could have done when I found out it was him was to stay away from me. Granted I probably wouldn't be walking right now if he hadn't come. No. I can take care of myself.
"Whatever; just stay away from me Wright," I said narrowing my eyes at him. Slowly, I walked past him and back the way I had been dragged.
As I walked back, instantly the music of the rides and the noise of the crowds of people grew louder. I was in the middle of looking around when something caught my eye on the Ferris wheel. I squinted to see better and saw it was none other than Jace, Todd, Rob, Jesse and Brent. Jesse was clutching both sides of the cart that they were in like a little pansy, whilst the others were cracking up. Todd started rocking the cart from side to side and Jesse almost flipped a shit at him. By the time I had watched them for a while I was also cracking up and I walked to meet them as they got off.
"Where are your diapers, Jesse?" I called mockingly as he jumped out of the cart quicker than you can say 'scaredy-cat'.
"Ha. Ha," he replied, pulling a face at me before skulking off to the food area. All the boys ran off after him shouting. I shook my head and laughed.
I pulled out my phone as they disappeared around a corner and dialed Izzy's number.
"Hello?" Izzy answered; her voice a little shaky.
"Where are you?" I asked, concern filling my voice. Izzy's voice never got shaky. Even if she was in the middle of a fight, her voice never changed from its calm and sophisticated tone.
"I'm behind the games stalls, you'd better come check this out - get the guys too!" she hurriedly said in one breath. Dread filled me as I began back the way I had come. I'd had my encounter with the Moron Double-Act behind the games stalls; I'd had my encounter with Nick Wright behind the games stalls.
I quickly texted Jace, Rob, Ryan and Isaac to meet me and Izzy behind the games stalls. They would be with each other so it was only necessary to text four as they would all come together. Soon enough, I stepped around the stall to the exact same place I had been threatened, and there was Izzy, standing over the two men's bodies. She looked up as soon as I came into view.
"Something's happened!" she whisper shouted. I contained my laughter. Izzy was one of the best female fighters out there. She could floor three full grown men at once and could throw a punch hard enough to match any mans, but when faced with two unconscious bodies all she could do was panic. I remember once when she accidentally knocked Jesse out whilst training. She turned completely shell-shocked and flipped out! She screamed for all of us and panicked. I didn't know why, but all I knew was that even the bravest people have their weaknesses.
"No shit," I replied, walking over to her. Of course, I acted oblivious as to why these two men were here. I nudged one with my foot and then felt for the pulse in their neck. He didn't move but his heart was beating away happily.
"They're only unconscious," Izzy told me as I rose up from feeling for a pulse. I nodded just as Jace and the guys came around the corner. Taking in the scene before them, Jace stopped, a grave expression sliding onto his face.
"Why the hell have you knocked them out?!" he half shouted at us. First of all, the Ward rule is that you never knock somebody out if you can get them to run away because what they have done is meaningless, for example, the other week in the alleyway. Obviously, Jace knew that the idiots would probably have run away if they were beaten up enough by Izzy and I but he still seemed to think we had beat them unconscious!
"We didn't do this," Izzy said, glancing up from the two men to look at Jace in disbelief and shock. I folded my arms and nodded in confirmation.
"Jesse, call the police, they'll take care of them," Jace ordered before coming a bit closer to the two men, and us.
"Izzy and Millie, come with me. The rest of you, stay here and show them to the police, make sure they take them away and don't let them go before they wake up," he added, gesturing to us and then turning towards the guys to give his final instructions. They all nodded and Jesse pulled out his phone, dialling a number.
Jace walked off and slowly Izzy and I got into step behind him. Izzy looked at me questioningly and I just shrugged my shoulders at her. I had no idea what Jace had in mind, but whatever it was he was no longer 'friendly brother Jace', he had turned into 'serious business Jace'.
He stopped when we were away from the crowds and turned around.
"Why did you guys do that?" he asked, looking between both of us.
My mouth gaped and Izzy began to speak however I cut her off, "We did that?! You think we did that?!" I half yelled at him, crossing my arms across my chest.
"That's kind of what it looked like," he said, using that 'duh' tone.
"Why would we knock out two men behind a games stall?!"
"Well, you were both there," he continued in that stupid tone of voice. He may be my older brother but boy, I could have slapped him one right then!
I was about to retort when Izzy cut me off, "Millie wasn't even there! I was getting something to eat when I saw someone throw up, so I went behind the stalls to get some fresh air and I stumbled upon them, I - we did nothing," she replied, calm as ever.
"Ok, well the police will find out what happened when those two wake up. Let's go," he replied, as calmly as she did. I shook my head, amazed at how calm they both were. That wasn't me. For some reason I could never handle things calmly, I had a fiery temper and I knew it, and sometimes it would be the death of me, but without it, I wouldn't be Millie Ward.
Then something stopped me in my tracks, 'the police will find out what happened when those two wake up,' the words echoed through my brain like a CD stuck in a CD player. When those two wake up, they'll say that it was me they were talking to when they both got knocked out, and they'll know that I rescued Nick Wright. Shit couldn't even begin to describe the situation I would soon be in.

I sat in the hanging sofa in the games room, the cool plastic of the controller slipped in my sweaty hands as I clutched it tightly.
The flat screen TV was on and the game was Mario Kart. Todd and Ryan had the two other controllers and were sat side by side on the large sofa right in front of the TV. The hanging chair was a bit further back in the room, but I could still see my character vividly.
Next to them was a very excited Tom, "Haha Todd, you just got over taken by a girl!" he would shout one minute and the next, "QUICK!! Incoming red shell!" However, nothing would prepare him for the excitement that was yet to come.
We were playing Rainbow Road, my favourite track, simply because I ruled supreme on it. I had the fastest lap time of the game on that track, and we were only on the level because it was my turn to pick.
I jerked my steering wheel to the left and then quickly to the right as I went around the final corner before the last lap. Come on, Luigi, let's take this baby home, I inwardly rejoiced - this race was mine... yet again.
I sped around the course, going through all of the boxes I could, shooting shells and using the speed up things to my advantage. Once again, I was at the final corner and by this time, Todd, or should I say Donkey Kong, had gained ground and was tailing me. I jerked my controller to the left and as I went to turn the right hand corner that came straight after, Todd smashed into me; poor little Luigi was no match for massive Donkey Kong in his Banana Kart.
With that, I was out of the race and Todd had won. Tom was screaming hysterically, and all the others were laughing and joining in, shouting that for once I had been beaten.
My eyes narrowed as Todd turned around and slapped his ass, "Kiss my ass, sista!" he called triumphantly. I shook my head threw my controller at him as hard as I could.
"Rematch you little bit-"I was about to insult him when Jace's voice cut through all of the commotion.
"Guys, listen up," he said firmly. There was a tone to his voice which told me he was about to convey some type of important news, so I swallowed my anger at losing to Todd and leaned back in my chair as everybody turned to look at Jace.
"The guys from the fair woke up," As soon as he said those words, my stomach flipped and turned into a pit of dread. What had they said? Will they find out what happened at the fair, or in the alleyway?
Izzy spoke up first, "What's happened?" a worried expression was sat over most peoples faces now, but none compared to the way I felt. I tried to keep as much of a straight face as possible and prepared for Jace's next words.
"Apparently, they're members of a top secret and one of the most wanted criminal organisations in the city. I don't know how they got where they were at the fair and I haven't got many details, but let's just say, those two will be behind bars for as long as they are able to keep them there," Jace finished, leaning up against the wall and smirking as he said the last bit.
Part of me heaved a sigh of relief because I hadn't been exposed, however another part of me wondered what Nick Wright was doing being threatened by two members of one of the city's biggest criminal organisations. I internally slapped myself. Why is Nick Wright's business bothering me? I couldn't give a damn about him or his horrid family. Still, there was something that wouldn't budge from my mind - what the hell was wrong with me?!
