Snowspots turned unable to hide his sadness as he bounded away from the clearing. He couldn't believe they blamed him with all the evidence.

Darkleaf headed off to bury Beamkit. He left Moonkit and Sunkit with Shadowstar.

After he had dug a hole big enough for a full grown cat to fit in he laid down with his nose pressed into Beamkit's fur.

That's when the murderer struck. They ran at him before he could get up to defend himself. His head bashed into the side of the hole knocking him unconscious. The cat placed Beamkit's body into the hole. They then started to throw the dirt back into the hole. Burying Darkleaf alive.

Shadowstar led the kits into the woods. She was sure she knew who the murderer was. She wanted to make sure Darkleaf was safe. But, when she got to the burial site Darkleaf was nowhere to be seen. She scented the air for a scent trail but found none.

She shook her head and wrapped her tail around the kits protectively. She didn't want to break the news to the poor kits about their fathers death.

Cheetahpaw walked up. The kits ran up to her. "Where's Darkleaf?" They cried. Cheetahpaw looked over at Shadowstar before answering.

"I don't know." She said.

The kits looked towards Shadowstar desperately. "He's not dead is he!?" He cried. Shadowstar could hear the pain in their tiny voices.

She motioned with her tail and the kits ran over. They were visibly shaking.

"Let's decide." She whispered softly.
