Chapter 26

Chapter 26:

Ellie Roger:

"Fox why are you here? I thought you had family stuff on?" Trey asked Fox and I glanced over at my boyfriend who was scratching his arm with his free hand.

Alex's hand felt surprisingly comforting considering the situation we were in, but that didn't stop me from being extremely nervous.

The secret was out, I just knew it.

"Um, you see, um that's the thing, I lied." Fox said, his eyes averting to the ground.

Trey sighed and I noticed Harvey rub his forehead so that his beanie was almost falling of his head.

"Why did you have to lie to us. Why couldn't you tell us about her!" Harvey shouted and I stared at the ground, hiding half of my body behind my boyfriends.

"Our relationship was a secret. Her parents can't find out about this." Fox said in a freaked tone.

"Why not and why would we tell her parents when we don't know them?" Trey asked Alex.

"Not even Ellie's best friend knows and also a bit because we were scared that you'd judge us. A bad boy and a nerd, let's be realistic and her parents can't find our because they hate me, or at least my kind, our kind." Fox mumbled to the ground.

Trey rolled his eyes and Harvey spoke up again.

"Hey, dude we weren't going to judge you if you decided to tell us."

Just before Fox was going to answer a ringing came from his pocket and he picked it up and answered it, letting go of my hand.

All my boyfriends attention was on the phone.

"What do you mean dad?" Fox said in a shaky voice and I looked at him with concern.

Everyone stood staring at Alex as he talked to his dad and all you could hear was one side of the conversation so to me everything was confusing.

I stood next to him nervously.

All this company and Alex talking to his dad on the phone gave me a funny feeling in my stomach.

Was it because our secret was out, or was it because he was willingly talking to his dad on a phone and let me tell you this right now that was a very rare occurrence for Alex.

Alex didn't like talking snout his dad much but from the stuff he'd told me, he and his dad always fought but he had a really close relationship with his mum.

"No! Dad I'm coming right now, I don't give a shit about staying here just to watch a movie when this, this has happened!" He yelled through the phone and the three of us gave him worried glances.

"Yep, okay, bye. I'll be there as soon as I can." He sighed and turned around giving me a hug and whispered something in my ear.

"Ellie, it's my mum she's in the hospital." My boyfriend choked out in a shaky breath and sounded almost like he was going to burst into tears at any given moment.

"Are you okay Alex?" I asked him with concern and I said it in a silent whisper so the others wouldn't hear.

"No." He sighed, "dad told me to stay here with my friends, but I told him that I didn't care, that I was coming. I'm sorry princess." Alex whispered to me as quietly as he possibly could.

"It's okay. Want me to come with you?" I asked in a whisper.

"Yeah." He whispered, "I think it's time to met my dad anyway, seen as the secrets out."

I gulped and closed my eyes briefly.

It was probably easy for the people surrounding me at this very moment to tell that I was a nervous wreck, especially now that Alex had shared that devastating news.

Trey and Harvey studied us with curiosity.

"Mum." Alex whispered and stared at the floor.

"Your mum, what happened?" Harvey asked and Alex looked at me as though he was trying to tell me to explain to the two bits what was going on, so I did that very thing, speaking up for the first time while Trey and Harvey were around.

"Alex's mum is in the hospital. She's been in a car accident." I said as Alex ran off, most likely starting up his car while waiting for me and seconds later I ran off after him.

Alex was sitting in the car staring out the window at the cars that were driving by and I jumped in the front seat beside my boyfriend.

I put my hand on his shoulder which resulted in him giving me a sad look.

I frowned at this.

I hated seeing him upset and trust me, that was a rare sighting.

"Alex I'm not going to tell you that everything is going to be and fine and that's she's not going to leave, but I will say that your mum is tough." I told him.

"Thanks." He sighed, "for the truth and I'm sorry Ellie that this had to happen."

"It's okay you couldn't help it. I just hope that your mum is alright." I sighed running a hand through my hair as Ales started the car and sped down the road, we'll not over the speed limit anyway.

I'd actually met Alex's mum before and she was the nicest person you would ever meet.

She was the only person who, before today knew about Alex and I.

My boyfriend couldn't resist but to tell her and in a way I was glad because at least it wasn't shared between only the two if us.

I knew that his mum knew everything about our dates and our troubles.

It was then that we hit a red light and from beside me my boyfriend growled and cursed wildest beside me.

"We'll get there. They can't keep us at a red light forever." I told Alex in a calm voice, or as calm as my voice could get in a situation like this.

"Okay." He whispered back to me.

A couple of minutes later the red light turned green and we sped past.

It took about another fifteen minutes or so to get to the hospital.

Alex parked near the pick up only car park, not caring that he wasn't suppose to.

We both rushed up to the hospital which was really big with lots of room and the exterior was mainly a white cement type colour along with large plastic doors and glass windows.

Alex and I ran over to the reception where about five people stood waiting for people to come.

We stopped near a balding man with skin that was on the wrinkly side.

His eyes were a deep brown and his eyebrows were the busiest ones I had ever seen.

Not to be mean or anything but I think I knew where all his hair disappeared to.

From beside me my boyfriend stared intently at the blue carpet and twiddled his finger and you could evidently see that his forehead was starting to sweat.

His tongue lolled out the side of his mouth, one of his habits that I had licked up within the first two days of going out with him.

"Whet can I do for you?" The man asked in a deadpanned voice.

"My mum, Cecilia Clive?" Alex asked not bothering to look up at the man.

The man told us the room and i had to sprint just to keep up with my speeding boyfriend and within a couple of seconds we were standing outside the room that she was in.

The both of us stopped, panting and tried to get our breath back.

I hunched over and my chest rapidly went in and out.

After a couple of seconds I stood up straight and Alex brought me in for a hug, his arms wrapped securely around my waist.

He kissed my cheek and took his arms away from me, grabbing a hold of my hand with his sweaty one.

I gave him a nod before we entered the room and made our way over to wear his father stood, staring at Cecilia.

"Dad?" Alex said.

"Fox, you're here and whose this that you're holding hands with?" Alex's dad said, turning his head away from the sleeping form of his mother.

"Dad, this is Ellie, my girlfriend."

"Nice to meet you, we'll I guess not under these circumstances but I'll just stop talking now..." I trailed off and blushed as I talked rapidly.

"It's fine Ellie." He replied to me and I gave him a rough smile.

"How is she?" Alex asked from beside me.

Cecilia was laid across the bed with tubes going everywhere, some coming out her mouth and some just dragging on the ground.

She looked rather peaceful in her sleep except for the fact that she was deathly pale and her pretty red hair was laid across the pillow, almost invisible.

Her eyes were closed over so you couldn't see her beautiful grey eyes anymore.

She had scratches dotted around her face and her arms and around one arm there was a cast and no not a coloured one, just plain white bandage with half plaster underneath it.

I hated to admit this, but she looked awful.

Alex and I took a seat on the same black chair, me sitting on his lap and his arms wrapped around me.

I was surprised he still had time to cuddle me, but then again it was probably comforting him a bit.

"Dad, how is she?" He asked and his breath ran through me neck and it gave me a shiver, a good one mind you.

"Well, son she's in a coma at the moment and I think there is some damage to her head and she has cracked ribs, a broken arm, cuts that have needed stitches and she's lost a lot of blood from a deep cut in her right leg." My boyfriends father sighed and Alex snuggled his head into my green dress.

I felt a drop of water fall onto my dress.

"Hey, you okay?" I asked him.

"Yeah I'll be fine, don't worry about me princess. You worry about your own problem alright baby?" Alex said softly.

"Alright." I responded.

"You know I love you right?"Alex said and his breath blew into my neck as he spoke.

Despite the situation I smiled and replied.

"As you know that I love you."
