Chapter 10

Reece Blackwell-King

Well, I dont really know how to explain myself for letting her stay in my house, or for taking her Wendy's or for smoking that joint with her.

I dont know why I did that.

I saw her sitting by herself and I just wanted to get a closer look at her to see what the fucking hype about her is but when I got close enough,  I couldnt get away anymore.

It's a Friday morning and we have school today, I'm super excited for that end.

This entire week has been draining.

After a shower and tidying up my room, I head downstairs. Immediately a sweet smell engulfs.

"Hey." I soft voice greets.

"I'm sorry if you arent okay with this, Colt showed me to the kitchen and I thought I'd make you some breakfast. To, you know, thank you for letting me stay." She fidgets.

I look over to the pancakes on the island.

"Its fine. Are you ready for school?" I ask.

She nods.

Colt walks in, wearing only shorts and shirtless. It's okay to do it any other day but not now. Shes here.

"Get dressed motherfucker." I say

"Put some clothes on bitch ass." She says

She and I say simultaneously. Okay?

"Okay, okay sheesh.  I grab a shirt, sorry parents." He says squinting his eyes.

"Here's breakfast." She pushes a plate of pancakes towards me.

With a bite, a whole bursting of flavour explodes in my mouth. I go for another and another bite until my plate is empty.

"Thank you, that tasted good." I tell her before Colt walking in, this time fully ckothed.

"Hey Moron, can I get some of those good tasting pancakes please?" He asks.

Moron?

"No you asswipe, get them yourself.  You've got arms dont you?" She responds.

What in the fuck is happening here? Moron? Asswipe?

I grab my stuff and wait for the two in my car. I cant stand whatever they've got going on.

Oh, maybe that's why Colt was half dressed. Maybe they've got something going on.

Huh.

You're reading too much into this Reece.

My phone rings, the number 4 flashes by as the caller ID.

I pick up.

"Cupcake." He says.

"Good." I respond before turning the phone off.

I guess my day could go a little better knowing that that's done.

The two walk out of my house chatting about something. However, she looks completely zoned out.

I have to be reminded that she wouldnt fit into my world.

She sits in the back and while Colt settle for the front.

I start up the car and begin heading to the school. I can sense how uncomfortable she is, however it's not my job to make her comfortable.

"We're here." I inform the two.

All three of us exit the car and head into the school.

I dont miss how she's now separated herself from us. She wasted no time.

That's good. Because she can not be involved in the kind of world that I live in. Colt and I arent good for her.

However, weirdly I have a feeling theres more to her than I think.

"Why'd you let her stay?" Colt asks.

"She has no where else to go. It's only for a little." I tell him heading into English.

"But letting her stay with us could endanger her life. You know that we arent really people she should mix with, more especially you." He says pushing past me to sit with one of his hoes.

He's right.

Its true. It really is.

I have to make sure no one ever sees me with her and she stays a secret.

I plop infront of the entire class. Avoiding Colt before he gets wiser with me. I fucking hate it.

Mrs Johnson walks in and states a few instructions.

English is not particularly my favourite class, but I dont hate it.

I plop my head down onto the table, hoping that it will speed the day up. We have a really important deal today and later a party.

I hear the chair next to me being pulled. I dont turn to face the person. People arent really my thing.

"That's my chair." She softly says.

I pick my head up and find her light brown eyes staring right back at me.

"Hi Marceline. " I greet before plopping back onto my arms.

"Fucking moron." I hear her whisper under her breath.

I was going to move so that she can sit where she is comfortable, but that comment right there is what is making stay glued to the chair.

Class flies by so quickly that I barely realise it. It's when Mars pulls me to the side to speak to me that I realise that the day is over.

"I was wondering if I could get a ride?" She whispers so that no one hears us.

"Sure darling, anytime." I smirk. It takes her moments to realise the connotative meaning of what she has just said.

"Be serious Blackwell." She rolls her eyes.

For some reason, I liked how that made me feel.

Loud heels come clicking towards us. I know who it is before I turn. Who even the fuck wears heels to high school?

"Hey Reece. I missed you." She says.

Her perfume engulfs me and almost chokes me with how strong and carelessly sprayed it is.

"Michelle." Is all I master.

I dont miss the impatient look on Mars' face.

"Why didnt you show up yesterday? I waited." She says.

Oh, I forgot that she had asked me to come over to her place for a small party. I only accepted because I wanted her to stop talking to me.

"I'm sorry, I was busy."  I sigh when I spot Mars' bored face.

"Well dont you want my number so that next time we plan to hang out you can call me to confirm?" She asks. Trying to do this thing with her eyes.

"No, I'm alright. If you excuse me, I was kind of having a serious conversation here." I tell her.

She huffs, taking in a bored Mars who isnt even interested in our interaction.

"I told you to stay away from him." She says.

Mars snaps back to look at her.

"And I've told you to fuck off. Guess we both dont follow instructions. " she says nonchalantly.

The way she was able to harden her gaze excites my blood. I didnt know anybody else, and her for a matter of fact can do my signature indifferent glare.

Michelle turns and leaves.

"Sure." I finally answer her before walking away.

I feel her eyes boring into my back, but I dont dare turn back to see her.

I have to keep my distance, for her safety.
