heLLO so this imagine is kind of short but once i get my shit together i'll update more often again and also i was just about to write i'll make the imagines longer but i realized they've been like five billion words lately so maybe this is the perfect balance we need

i also just realized i don't have many imagines left and while it does make me sad because i'm not ready for this book to end, at the same time i'M SO DAMN EXCITED because it's about damn time i move on from these preference/imagine books and get some of those 50 drafts published

OH AND ALSO ((i say also way too much)) i was planning on making a book for tags and shit because i get tagged so much and rlly i love it please don't stop but i don't know where to shove them anymore so should it do it ?? would anyone read it or would it be just irrelevant and not worth it ??

anyway, here's the imagine !! ((oh and by the way, i've never celebrated mardi gras and i knew very little so i don't know if this is 100% correct or how it goes but you can blame it on wikipedia then))

Imagine celebrating Mardi Gras with Klaus

  "Throw me something, mister!"

Your voice echoed through the abattoir where Klaus had settled in some years ago, in the famous French Quarter in New Orleans, where you joined him not too long ago. You danced over to Klaus who was sitting on his couch, with his legs on the coffee table and a glass in hand where he sipped on a drink once in a while. He rolled his eyes, but they landed on you and he broke into a grin as he looked at you stand there in your Mardi Gras costume, with the mask and everything.

Klaus threw a string of colorful beads at you, and although it caught you off guard, you happened to be a vampire and therefore managed to quickly catch the string before shooting Klaus an amused look to which he responded by sighing. You walked over to Klaus, and lifted your high heel on the couch, showing off your leg which made Klaus bite his lower lip rather roughly, after finishing his drink and smacking the glass on the coffee table. He straightened his back, and sat better on the couch, his hand finding its way to your soft leg while a deep growl rose in his throat.

"Might want to keep your knockers hidden, love", Klaus pointed out, and stood up, and with his inhuman speed he managed to press you against the wall, knocking your breath away as you looked into his eyes with your own wide, surprised ones. "Mardi Gras, not really my thing anymore", he continued, and then dropped you, but even though he tried to seem careless and uninterested in the carnival, his eyes still basically undressed you from the tight costume on your body, flattering each curve, and Klaus noticed perfectly. It was a miracle his mouth didn't start to water just at the sight of you.

"Fine, maybe I'll go show my knockers to someone else", you said, and stuck your tongue out before taking the first step towards the front door. Klaus grabbed your arm instantly, without hesitation, and you couldn't hide your smug smile - obviously Klaus didn't want you flashing to other people, only him.

"Or not", you shrugged, and grinned. "I won't, if you come out and celebrate Mardi Gras with me. Please?", you begged, wanting Klaus to give in, like he usually did with you. Although he claimed to hate Mardi Gras after so many years, and decades and centuries really, he loved you enough to do anything, and that smile he couldn't resist breaking into just confirmed your suspicions. He liked to party, and with the wildest and greatest event of the whole year right at your doorstep, how could you two possibly stay inside?

"You're a bloody brat", Klaus shook his head, his rough voice making you grin as you intertwined your fingers and started to lead him towards the front door. You ignored his comment, and offered him a golden mask to hide his gorgeous features, and he was about to make a witty remark about how he was deeply hurt by your urge to cover his face, but failed after seeing how it matched your colors. You hadn't lived in New Orleans for very long, only for a few years after Klaus took you with him and you left Mystic Falls behind. So you were very eager to celebrate the local events, and participating with dedication was your goal, and Klaus could tell.

You looked stunning in your rather tight, revealing outfit but it was fitting for Mardi Gras and therefore you put all your boundaries and filters out of business for the day and decided to just have fun. And the sight of you dancing in the traditional colors you had discovered on Wikipedia - purple, gold and green - was quite delicious and as much as Klaus wanted to be the grumpy buzzkiller who refused to go out on the busy streets of the French Quarter, he couldn't say no to the idea of booze, your beauty, and the possibility to make you smile and have fun.

You and Klaus sneaked out of the abattoir and to the streets where you were immediately pushed into the cheering, partying crowd. You looked around and smiled widely, enjoying the atmosphere that had been wild since the beginning, and would only turn wilder towards the night. There were many women who were dressed in even less than you, and you tried to catch Klaus' eye on them, but whenever you turned to look at him he tightened his arm around your waist and he gave you a warm smile. You weren't there just to cuddle in the middle of all these people though, so you pulled yourself out of the line and dragged Klaus along as you stumbled to the side of the street.

"I think there might be a parade starting soon", Klaus pressed his lips to your ear so you could hear him properly, and you shivered while his arms snaked around your waist and he continued to whisper to you. He was never one to avoid PDA, he wanted everyone and anyone to know that this stunning, amazing girl was all his, although not many people paid attention either. There were couples all over the streets, some even strangers to each other but compared to the ones sticking their tongues down each other's throats, Klaus' public affection towards you was barely anything.

"Let's go see it, then", you said, and turned to face Klaus when the heat was starting to get unbearable. It had been his goal to make you more or less uncomfortable under his securing embrace, intense gaze and raspy whispers in your ear, and he had succeeded, so inevitably you were met by a proud smirk as you faced him. A part of you wanted to slap it off, but even a bigger part wanted to kiss the life out of him - though you did neither, you grabbed his hand again and started to lead him away from the street you were standing on.

Your high heels were almost impossible to walk with, but you struggled, and managed to leave the street and take the right turning to where the parade was starting. You could hear loud, enjoyable music, and you could feel warm bodies all over your own, though Klaus made his fair share of pushing men off of you while mumbling something rather violent once in a while, his arms protectively around you. But you couldn't see a thing. People were jumping, dancing and celebrating in front of you and you were drowned by the taller people, leaving you in the middle of the crowd, trying to desperately catch a glimpse of the parade but miserably failing.

"Nik!", you complained and tried to hop on your high heels with the thought of seeing the parades in mind, but you couldn't see anything and it made you pout. Klaus' arm wrapped around you again, and you gasped as you felt your feet lift off of the ground, and your stomach made a flip as you flew through the air, aiming high. You closed your eyes, too scared to look around as you understood Klaus had jumped from the ground with a different destination in mind. You grabbed him tightly, and you could almost taste the boyish grin on his pink lips as you leaned against his chest, your warm skin against his. The cool air made your hot, sweaty body feel nice and you gasped again while your fingertips dug into Klaus' muscular shoulders.

Eventually, the jump that only lasted for seconds though felt like decades, ended and you were back on your feet. You were still holding onto Klaus, but you found the courage to open your eyes, and you were shocked but pleased to find yourself on top of one of the buildings from where you could see the parade perfectly. The sight was even more magical from the rooftop, and your breath was taken away by the beauty of all the lights, the throws flying from the parades, the dancing people, the jazz band playing on the moving stage... It was all so gorgeous.

"Damn", you breathed out, and turned over to Klaus as a wide grin spread out your lips. "This is amazing", you added, and gestured for Klaus to come on the edge with you. You stood on the verge of the rooftop, the possibility of you falling lingering in the surprisingly warm air, but you enjoyed the danger and Klaus claimed to agree although he was standing warily, with his arm around your waist, ready to swoop you into safety.

"Yes, well...", Klaus mumbled and pressed his lips softly against your neck, "so are you." Your cheeks turned pink, but with the heavy make-up on your face, it was barely visible and you thanked the heavens for it. Klaus liked to make you blush and smile, and he was often smiling smugly and proudly, because although you were sassy and sarcastic at times, you did have that shy side that he managed to bring out the most.

You grabbed his jaw, and placed your lips on his roughly, letting the sloppy kiss go however it wanted to. Your painted lips tasted delicious, and Klaus closed his eyes while sneaking his hand on the side of your head to hold you steady against him. His arm tightened on your waist, and he had you closed in a warm embrace in no time, with your soft lips still going on each other. You cupped his cheek, and felt the rough stubble against your skin, while you closed your eyes and let out soft whimpers because of the kiss he quickly took control of.

"Did I mention yet, you look absolutely gorgeous?", Klaus breathed out when the kiss broke. You let go of him, and smiled while your eyes locked, feeling his intenze gaze meet yours and it made him want to kiss you again but he remained under control and gave you the chance to reply.

"I don't think you did. But even if you did, I'll never get tired of hearing it", you grinned and leaned against him, dropping your head on his shoulder while he held you tightly. A low laughter slipped out of Klaus' mouth, and it turned out to be contagious and you were both left giggling on the rooftop while looking down at the dancing people and the awesome parade going through the busy streets. Klaus grabbed you tighter again, and gave you a warning look as his pink lips parted and a few roughly spoken words escaped.

"Let's go get you a couple of doubloons or bead strings. And then get wasted, possibly. And afterwards, I'll show you just how irresistible you look", he spoke with a charming smirk on his lips, but before you had time to respond, he jumped off of the roof and you squealed as you approached the ground quickly.

"I hate you", you shook your head when your feet were back on the ground and you felt safe again.

"But I love you", Klaus replied, and pressed one more kiss to your lips.

And the two of you had lots of fun, all night long, even though Klaus insisted on not celebrating Mardi Gras this year, but it turned out to be worth his while. Just like everything always did, as long as he got to do it with you.
