Chapter 8_ Me, pretty?

Next morning I was woken up by Ian, the same way I had woken him up the previous morning.

"What the?" I yelled.

"Don't curse. I'll tell mommy," he smirked.

"I did not curse. And it's not like you haven't done it before," I said and ran into the toilet before he could take over it again.

It was a brilliant day, I was strolling towards the school, because miraculously, I wasn't running late today. I was in a really good mood and had no idea what was in store for me.

As soon as I stepped inside the building I saw students pointing at me and smirking. Some people were even laughing their heads off. I had no idea what was happening.

"What is going on?" I glared at a girl giggling at me.

She pointed at my locker. I saw a crowd of students pushing each other to get a better look at whatever was there. I pushed through the crowd, elbowing people to reach to the front.

I reached my locker and gasped. Taped to my locker was, a copy of my embarrassing photo. Hilda! That b*tch. She broke our deal. I wanted to give her a piece of my mind. I tore away the photo and the people at the back, who hadn't had their turns yet, groaned with disappointment.

"Back off, losers," was my lame response.

"Don't worry," I heard a sickly sweet voice say," I have loads more for everyone to see."

It doesn't need a genius to figure out who that was.

"Hilda! You broke the deal," I yelled at her.

"No," she said calmly, "you did."

"What ..." I started.

"You didn't obey my order yesterday," she said. I knew it. Her not texting back was too good to be true.

My ears were staring to burn and I was sure I was turning red.

"I don't have any patience with disobedient slaves," she dragged the 'a' in the word slaves, way more then necessary.

I was sure I was red as a tomato with embarrassment, so instead of provoking her with a good comeback, I thought the better of it and turned to go. But not before seeing Hilda take a whole bunch of papers from Lisa and starting to distribute them to her not so faithful followers.

I saw Lily and Margaret giving me mocking looks. I went to look for Simon for some support. He was standing in the corner, surrounded by girls. Which didn't surprise me.

Here in our school, things work differently, even though Simon is technically a nerd, yet he is the most popular boy in school. The list is as follows:

1- Simon: according to the girls, the most handsome and dreamy boy in the whole school. Whereas, he is unaware of it, and also unaware of all the girls surrounding him. They might be mosquitoes for all he cared.

2- Harvey: the typical jock, good at heart but keeps up the bad boy appearance. He also has brains. Oh, and should I mention he is in the football team?

3- Lucas: the douchebag with an unusually big mouth. Popular because of his apparently good looks, loads of money and being a pervert.

4- Samantha: the s**t of the school. Boys fawn over her as much as she fawns over them. But no one of status even looks at her.

5- Hilda: the queen bee. The uncliché part is, Hilda doesn't date Harvey, which is typical of other high schools. Instead, she chose that douchebag of a Lucas as her boyfriend. Which gives me another reason to hate him.

6- Lisa: the sidekick of the queen bee. Only popular because of Hilda. And Hilda's friend only because of her wealth and fame.

One of the girls surrounding Simon, showed him my photo.

"I know this girl," he said, looking at my photo.

The girls laughed.

"Mary's so invisible that her own cousin can't recognise her," said Samantha. I already told you who she is. "Simon dear, she's Mary, your cousin," she turned to Simon and cooed.

"How do you know my name? Do I know you?" he asked Samantha.

Now it was my turn to laugh.

"Oh, my cousin Mary!" said Simon, looking at the picture again. "Are you laughing at her? It's not nice to laugh at someone. Especially Mary. She's nicer and prettier than all of you put together."

For the first time he spoke without looking like he was in another dimension. Way to go Simon. You broke all of your fans' ugly little hearts. Calling me pretty in front of them? What could be a bigger insult to them than that?

Wait! Did Simon just call me pretty? I felt my cheeks burn for the second time in ten minutes. But not for the reason they did before.

Author's note:

Hey guys, here's the chapter as promised.

Picture of Mary attached.

Vote, comment, follow, share, whatever makes you happy.

Question of the update, who is seeking Mary's attention?

The person with the correct guess will be dedicated the next chapter, which will, I'm warning you, be very late. Because I have exams and I have no control over myself so my tab is going to lie in my cupboard, switched off.

All I hope is when I log back in, I see tons of votes and comments.

Thank you, stay happy.

Bye!
