The Crossing (5/16)
Eclipse soon noticed Mephiles is lowering his head a lot when he was eating. If it wasn't for his shining eyes, he would be thinking he doesn't like it. It must have been because of Lancelot. He tried to keep the conversation alive as his husband was too grumpy to do so and he would definitely hit a sensitive spot... on purpose, but it seemed he wasn't interested in talking in the first place.
"Lance," he called him, waking him from his own thoughts, "Mephiles brought us a bowl full of fruits! I can't wait to taste them! There are so many new kinds!" He was shining, looking at it.
Just know Lancelot noticed the bowl full of unknown fruits at the head of the table. He avoided to look around to not spot Mephiles... too much, he still had no trust towards him. He lifted an eyebrow, mentally noting to get prepared for Eclipse's geeking out. If there was one thing he loved, it was fruit and vegetable.
Not just planting it, but eating it too and preparing it in every imaginable way. This side of his was adorable, and he couldn't say no to his shining face. The little field they had was his personal joy and he helped with it as well, finding it strangely relaxing. If he may not have been a knight, he may wish to be a farmer. But he was too proud to acknowledge it... much less to say it aloud because it would mean additional vegetable on his plate and tease from his herm.
"There is a mango, a lichi, an avocado and a pomelo to name few," added Galahad.
'One piece would be already enough,' ran thru Lancelot's head, while chewing a potato.
"I personally love the mango, and Mephiles knows all kinds of ways how to prepare it! He is an awesome chef!"
Lancelot glanced at him. A dark knight... is the awesome chef? Like seriously? He couldn't help himself but check Mephiles' face, which was turning red and he was muttering something. When his eyes moved his way, he averted his sight. His ears flinched as he heard familiar footsteps... but they weren't expecting anyone. He turned his head to the door, seeing a figure to enter. "Aalis?"
All heads turned her way. She was standing there, gasping for an air and her face was shoving growing shock and hatred. "Y-You!!" she shouted, putting her hands in front of her taking her crystalline form.
"No!" barked Eclipse, jumping over Lancelot, blocking her field of vision. He embraced her, petting her head. "It's alright, my dear. He isn't here to hurt any of us." He was rocking her, to calm her faster as her heart was beating like crazy.
"Why is that monster here?" she yapped, while her crystals slowly disappeared.
Eclipse let her go but still petted her head. "He came to apologize, so I and father have invited them to a dinner to hear him out. Why are you here? I thought you are spending the night with your siblings at aunt's house?"
She avoided his eyes. "I... had a strange feeling... so I rushed back... and I have collected lots of herbs, so I wanted to compare them with your books. Amyce and Magnus were more interested in playing anyway. It was too noisy there."
Eclipse felt there is more to it, but he decided not to pursue it. "I see," he nodded. "Will you allow them to spend a night here? It got late and their home is in a distant place."
He could read a fear and hatred in her face. She was glaring at Mephiles, who wasn't able to look into her eyes. Then she suddenly changed, pointing at Galahad. "Why's that guy in a dress?" her voice sounded so childish and innocent. Galahad started to choke a bit.
Eclipse stood up. "It's just a new fashion." He came to the kitchen counter to fix her a meal. She sat down next to Lancelot. She looked at him. "Dad, will you wear one too?" The proud knight was choking, even more, Eclipse had to hit him in the back a few times to save him from suffocating.
"I think he is too edgy for that," Eclipse answered with a slight chuckle and Lancelot, who was still gasping, glared at him, saying; Don't you dare to think about it.
The other person having slight grin was Galahad. He actually felt a bit embarrassed wearing a dress in front of other people than Mephiles, but her innocent remark made him feel better.
