Chapter Fifty: December 17th

December 17th

Jade's POV

Floating is weird. I don't like it. I especially don't like when my hands and feet are bound so that I can't move. Magdouchebag over there learned from Stryker's mistakes. He uses titanium chords for my hands and feet, and then he placed me on a floating table surrounded by large floating hollowed disks, also made of titanium. He really out did himself this time.

I'd be telling him all of these things if he didn't have a rag taped to my mouth. My tongue feels like a prisoner. Every time I try to say something it sounds like I'm screaming into a pillow.

I notice Pyro, the punk looking dude with spiky bleach blond hair. He's hanging around in the back, talking to another punk looking dude with long brown hair and a cut off leather vest. If I remember correctly, Kitty told me his name was Avalanche. Magneto's stupid goons. I don't see him but I wouldn't be surprised if Pietro was around here somewhere.

Magneto is busy talking to a girl with obnoxious blue hair. It's not Belle's blue, therefore it's wrong. Normally, I'd be able to hear them, but my super duper hearing doesn't work in this giant slinky. I can read lips, but Magneto's back is to me. All I see the girl mouth is 'yes, I got through to him' and 'they know'. Who knows? What the fuck is going on?

I remember leaving last night, after the whole Aaron thing. I remember getting to the border of New York and Maine, but that's it. Somewhere between there and here I was drugged and tied up.

Honestly, this might be a good thing. There's no way Aaron can find me now. I don't want him to. I left to protect him, and maybe now that I'm actually gone he'll get it through his stupid head. I only have two hours left, then I'll be free of the stupid curse. Maybe I can go back...

Magneto finally turns around, giving me an opportunity to get his attention. "Hmmm! Hmmmm!" I can't make any other sound, but he hears me and smirks.

"Well well well, look who woke up." He rips the tape off of my mouth and pulls out the rag, allowing me and salivate freely again. "What do you have to say for yourself, Jade? Wandering around, alone, that late at night?" I swallow and lift my head up.

"How many fucking abandoned warehouses are there in the state of New York! Seriously!" These things are trouble. I don't know how I keep ending up in these kinds of situations. Magneto's smirk fades, but his eyebrow shift show he's intrigued.

"We're not in New York, my dear. We're in Maine." He walks in circles around me, watching me like a vulture. "Do you know why we're in Maine?"

"No, but I bet you're going to tell me." I say sweetly, batting my eyes innocently. Magneto laughs, slapping his hand down right next to my face.

"I like you Jade. I really do." I watch as he slides his hand back, resuming the circling. "I look forward to working with you."

"When did I start working for you?" I ask seriously, craning my head back so I can look him in the eyes.

"Not for, my dear, with. As equals." He stoops down next to me, grabbing my cheeks with a single hand. "Imagine the things we could accomplish."

"M nut werking wit you." I spit out with immobilized lips. He lets go of my face and shakes his head.

"I could hurt a lot of people, people you care about."

"I'm practically swooning." Magneto snaps his fingers, making the table I'm tied to bend backwards, stretching my spine.

"You can make all the jokes you want, Miss Azalea." He leans in close, hoping to threaten me by entering my personal bubble. "But the reality is, I am the most powerful mutant alive, and I could make your life very difficult." He snaps his fingers again, releasing the chair.

"And here I thought we were equals."

"Someone shut her up." Magneto turns his back on me, which I don't appreciate. An orderly walks up to me, placing tape over my mouth. As soon as his hand is within range, I bite down on his thumb. He shouts and tries to yank it out, but I've got a firm grip and strong teeth. I maintain eye contact with him, smiling into the bite. When I finally let go, I see how the skin got peeled back, close to his nail. He rushes off, whimpering the entire way. I spit out the excess blood and look to Magneto, shouting so he'll hear me.

"Charles Xavier is the most powerful mutant alive." He turns his head, glaring into my eyes. "I know it, and you know it." Magneto clenches his fists and I float higher into the air. The rings shrink, closing in on me. "Any man who must proclaim his power is not that powerful." The rings begin to cut into my skin, drawing blood from my collarbones and my shins, but I laugh. I don't know what it is about feeling pain that makes me laugh. I think it has something to do with the desirable need to be strong.

"Shut up!" Magneto slaps the tape over my mouth and hits the rings, causing me to spin around like a yoyo. I have a strong stomach, but not that strong. There's an unsettling warm liquid in my mouth, and suddenly it's spraying all around. "You don't get to eat. You don't get to sleep. You don't get to speak freely. You are nothing compared to me!" My eyes feel as if they're going to jump out of my sockets, which I prefer not to happen. I can't breathe through my mouth due to the tape, and I'm moving too fast to breathe through my nose. If I don't stop spinning soon, I think I'll pass out.

Then I stop.

I'm laying down, upright. I take my first full breath and open my eyes to see my savior. The blue haired girl is standing up, behind her desk. "Alice! What are you doing?" Magneto scolds his goon, but she merely holds eye contact with me.

"Thank you for your loyalty,
Jade." I hold my breath.

"Mhumm?" Charles?

Alice turns to Magneto, wearing an expression of disappointment. "What are you doing, Erik? Torturing a young girl?"

"Stay out of this Charles!"

"I shouldn't have to stay out of anything! You promised you would stop!" Alice raises her voice, Charles' voice. "Let her go!" Magneto yells in frustration, levitating a large metal bar over Alice's head. She looks to me, one last time.

"Hold on Jade. Help is on the way." With that, Alice's eyes roll to the back of her head and she flies backwards, avoiding Magneto's attempt at her life. Charles would never risk the life of a young mutant, and for that he has my respect. Magneto claps his hands together, like he's having fun.

"Now, where were we?"

Aaron's POV

We land on a vacant roof, above the place Jade is being held. Belle teleported the bunch of us, me, Logan, and Dan. The Professor figured that a small group was best for this kind of mission. He also was able to suppress most of my darkening side effects, so now at least I can stand up without wavering in place. Dan's still watching me like a hawk, but I assured him I'm fine.

We're definitely not in New York. The building is surrounded by snowy mountains and trees, which are actually quite beautiful. "Alright Aaron. What's the plan?" Logan snaps me back into focus, his suit making a stretching sound as he crosses his arms.

"Um." I search the roof for a way in. I need to see what's going on inside before I tell these guys what to do. "The vent." Logan nods and unsheathes his claws, ready to cut through it, but I stop him. "That'll be too loud. Let me do it." I find the darkened part of the ground, the vent's shadow. When the Professor healed me, he forgot one part. My ability to grasp shadows like tangible objects. It only happens when I get dark.

I lift the shadow of the vent and lay it aside, leaving a rectangular hole in the roof. I gesture for the others to lay down and look through with me.

I peer through, making sure only my eyes are sticking out. The first thing I see is the tanker full of gasoline. The second thing I see is Jade, floating in the rings. Magneto duct taped her mouth closed, probably because she was mouthing off to him. He's nowhere insight, but I know he's here. "Okay. Belle."

"Yeah?"

"See that control box in the corner?" I nod over to it, not wanting to point and risk drawing attention. She finds it and nods her head, sitting up and pulling her hair back into a low ponytail.

"Got it." She disappears in a cloud of smoke and reappears inside, right next to the control box. I was hoping that it controlled the rings imprisoning Jade, but according to the look on Belle's face it doesn't. She looks around curiously, searching for something useful. I spot a control panel on the top ring, spinning as it orbits Jade's body. Belle sees it too and begins to sneak towards it. She crawls on all fours, dodging orderlies by hiding under desks and practically becoming part of a wall.

One man sees her and reaches for a gun, but she pulls out her blue staff and strikes him across the knees, bringing him down to a level she can handle him on. He opens his mouth to shout, but she covers it with her hand and wraps her other arm around his neck, putting him in a choke hold. "When did she learn to do that?" Dan whispers at me. I shrug.

"Jade." He nods in understanding, turning his attention back on Belle. She holds the guy until he's unconscious and then let's him go, pushing him underneath a desk before continuing to slide over to Jade.

She reaches through the ring and gently touches Jade's shoulder, letting her know she's there. Jade's eyes widen when she sees her, and she tries to say something. Probably along the lines of 'what the hell are you doing here!' She rips off the tape and motions for her to stay quiet. Belle begins to push buttons and type codes into the control panel, hoping she knows enough to free Jade.

"Are we going to assume that Izzy's gonna get her out with no one noticing or..." The rings make a clicking sound and fall to the ground, leaving Jade tied to the table. Belle smiles confidentially and reaches to untie her, but a silver blur slams into her, throwing her against a wall. "Yep, that's my queue." Dan stands up and jumps into the vent, wasting no time. Pietro stands in front of Belle, getting ready to advance on her, but Dan tackles him away in a blur of red and black.

So much for under the radar.

"Hello Aaron." I rest my face in the gravel. I'd rather not look behind me. Logan pushes himself to his feet, standing between me and Magneto.

"Go Aaron. I've got this." I try and fall over the edge and into the vent, but Magneto grabs me by the metal buckles in my boots.

"No Aaron. Stay." He has me hanging upside down, which isn't ideal at all. "Care to tell me why our favorite teenage mutant girl was wandering around alone last night? Did you two have a fight?" I roll my eyes as my arms drop below my head.

"You could say that." A brilliant idea pops into my head, causing me to smirk cockily at Magneto. "I'd love to stay and chat, but I have a previous engagement." He becomes confused, but all he does is laugh when I turn invisible.

"That won't help you Aaron, I thought you were smarter than this." Now that he can't see me, I can reach my boots and unclip the metal pieces. I fall to the ground and slide into the vent, leaving Magneto with Logan and my boots.

I land on a pile of rubble, thankfully. Unfortunately, I forgot to stay invisible, so Avalanche and Pyro saw me land. "Hey! It's Invisible Boy!" Pyro goads, cracking his knuckles and stepping onto the rubble. "Glad you could make it." I groan and push myself to my feet. I'd really prefer not to get into it with these guys, especially right now.

"Tell you what guys, on the count of three, I'm going to go below you guys. Take it how you want." They both look at each other with confused expressions, which doesn't surprise me. They're not very bright. "One. Two. Three." I melt into the shadow of the pieces of rubble and rise up behind them, barely ten feet from Jade. I cover my back with a shield just in case they figure it out quicker than I expected. "Jade!" I start to run to her, but she shakes her head repeatedly.

"No Aaron! Stay back!" Somewhere between me seeing Magneto and falling out of the vent, Jade's hands were untied. She's unwrapping her wrists and rubbing the sore skin, grimacing at the very touch.

"Are you seriously not going to let me help you?" I cross my arms as Pyro attempts to burn through my shielded back, but that won't work. I've surrounded the entire area around me and Jade, making sure we won't get interrupted. "One sec." I hold up a finger and turn around to Pyro. "Honestly, bud, you're not getting through. Give it a rest." Jade sighs and ducks as an orderly swings a metal pipe at her head. She punches him in the throat and tosses him over to me.

"You missed a few." She's blank, but like a pissed blank. She's acting like she doesn't want me here.

"Jade," There's a break in my voice when I say her name. I'm honestly out of ideas. I thought after last night that she'd be over the whole thing. "Why?"

"You don't understand Aaron!" She tosses a guy to the side and moves to untie her ankles. Another guy runs at her and she flies up, punching him in the face upon instinct. Jade brushes her hair aside and gives me a look of pity. "Loving me will get you killed!" The ground between us splits, metal and dirt caving in. Avalanche and Pyro are taking on Dan and Belle. Apparently, Pietro ran off with the unconscious telepath.

I just stare at Jade, forgetting the fight that's going on. She stands before me with her hands in fists, a softened glare glued onto her face. She wants to be tough, to pretend that this whole ordeal isn't bothering her. In one swift movement, she leaps across the divided area, falling a few centimeters short. I lunge out and catch her wrist, pulling her the rest of the way up. Once she is safely standing in front of me, I tell her the truth.

"I'd die for you any day." It takes a moment for the words to get to her, but once they do, she slaps me across the face. Jade realizes what she's done and gasps, covering her mouth with her hands.

"Don't you ever," She points at me harshly, "Ever say that!" I turn my gaze back on her and shake my head slowly.

"Why?" My voice cracks and tears slowly fill my eyes. "Why can't you just let me love you?" Jade's eyes soften as she reaches for my face. She brushes my hair to the side and her fingers run down to the side of my eyes, then to my lips. She's so gentle, it's discerning.

"Because I'm no good for you Aaron." Her face reflects my pain, but not in the same way. Her lips are curved up into a small smile, like she's hoping I'll understand and do the same.

"That's not true..." I reach to rest my hands on her waist but she immediately pulls away, shaking her head disapprovingly at my effort.

"Why can't you get it through your head." Jade jumps onto a mound of rubble and paces back and forth in frustration. "Everyone I care about gets hurt. You, you keep getting hurt and coming back and Aaron..." Her eyes get sad as her hands rest at her sides. "I wish you had stopped coming back." I stop breathing for a moment and shake my head at her words.

"Stop saying that..."

"It would've made this easier." She keeps talking, taking a step closer to me. "I was trying to leave Aaron. I needed to leave."

"But you didn't want to!" We spent the night together last night, I know what she wanted. I could tell.

"I'm not the type of person who gets to do what they want Aaron!" She screams at me, she fingers digging into her thighs no doubt in order to refrain from doing so to someone's face. "I don't get what I want!" She finally lowers her voice and steadies her breath, looking at me with sad green eyes. "The last thing I want is you dead."

I want to say something. I want to scream at her about how stupid she's being, but someone else's screams draw our attention away from each other.

Avalanche's earthquakes are weakening the warehouse's foundation, loosening bolts and iron framework. Lights shatter as a chunk of framework falls from the ceiling, hitting Belle on the head and knocking her to the ground unconscious. "BELLE!" Jade runs at my shield, banging her fists against it. "LET ME THROUGH!" I lower it and we both run to Dan's aid, who is dragging Belle to a safer place. Jade tackles Avalanche to the ground and slams his head against the concrete floor. She wraps her hands around his throat, squeezing close to too tight.

"Jade! Not so much!" Her eyes are starting to glow, which is not a good sign. She finally releases her grip and grabs him by the hair. He merely sways back and forth in her grasp, his feet not even touching the ground. Jade winds up and chucks him through an opening he made in the side of the building earlier. She turns around and begins to throw things out of her way, searching for Pyro.

I turn away from her and rush to comfort Dan, who's freaking out over Belle's unconscious body. "Dan! Dan! She'll be okay!" I pull his hands out of his hand and shake him by the shoulders. "Call Li and tell her to bring the jet! Then go get Logan. Okay? We'll leave as soon as we get Logan." He nods his head rapidly, like he's having a hard time comprehending what's going on.

"Right. You're right. She'll be safe here." He leans down and pets her hair gingerly before running off to contact Li. Belle was our ride here, so for now, we're stuck.

"Aaron move!" I stand idly, unsure what Jade's yelling about, but she still slams into me, tackling me to the ground. I watch as concrete flies through the air, both in large chunks and small particles. Logan threw Pyro into the wall, and through the wall, but if Logan is fighting Pyro then who is fighting...

"Jade, Jade, Jade." Magneto floats down from the ceiling, shaking his head in a disappointed manner. "You can never turn down a fight, can you?"

Jade's POV

I blink and Aaron is gone. He just disappeared, leaving me to face Magneto. That's for the best. He needs to stay safe for the next twenty minutes, and then it's tomorrow.

"Honestly, Magneto, I'm tired of your shit." I stand to my feet, brushing the dirt and blood off of my knees. "You were going to brainwash me so that you could use my blind rage as a weapon, and honestly, that's one of the dumbest decisions you've ever made!" He tilts his head to the side as he lands on the ground, tossing his cape behind him.

"Is that so?"

"A majority of my rage is derived from my shitty childhood! Take that away and you've got a hormonal teenage girl with a bad temper!"

"Maybe you're right, Miss Azalea. Maybe I should have gone about this differently."

"Yeah, maybe." I spot Aaron ducking behind a block of cement, holding my swords in his arms. Where the hell did he find them? "Or, maybe I just have to beat some sense into you." I leap into the air, grabbing a hold of some chains hanging from the ceiling. I throw them down and follow them, flipping backwards when Magneto sends them back. I land right in front of him and roundhouse kick him, bringing him to his knees. I grab his cape, before he can react, and wrap it around his face before punching him in the nose. I look to Aaron and hold out my hands, hoping he'll understand.

I catch them both in one hand, slicing them across Magneto's chest. He shouts and falls backwards, but now he knows I have my swords. I step over him and pick up a chunk of cement, throwing it onto the part of his cape that isn't wrapped around his head.

My time's run out. I no longer have a jump on him. I reach for my swords but they slide away. Next thing I know they're flying above Magneto, pointing at me. "Aaron! Get behind me!" I hope he listened. I hope he leaves. He shouldn't be here, I shouldn't be here. This wouldn't be happening if I hadn't stood up for him at the Camp. This wouldn't be happening if I had just sucked it up and dealt with being lonely. Companionship only leads to trouble.

"Have you forgotten my beautiful mutation, Jade?" Magneto tears his cape away from his face and stands to his feet, smiling cruelly at me. "Granted, yours is quite beautiful too, but mine controls yours." My swords fly at me, but I dodge them and a tanker. My adrenaline levels are rising and I'm ready to fight. I could do this all day. Magneto's eyes follow me and so do my swords. I duck my head, letting my swords pierce the tanker instead of my skull. I manage to grab one of them before Magneto pulls the other one away, causing gasoline to leak onto the floor.

I really hope Logan has Pyro under control, because this could get ugly.

"I'm really glad you think so highly of yourself!" I poke and prod at Magneto's ego, which is his largest asset. "I have to admit I was worried about your self image! You wanna know what I thought? I thought to myself, Jade," I do a backflip onto the tanker, so now I am taller than him, "How do you think Magneto deals with himself every day?" His left eye twitches as he spins my sword around over his head, like a compass arrow. "And you wanna know what I told myself? I said, Jade," I slide off the side of the tanker and take a bold step towards him, making sure to maintain eye contact. "I have no idea." My playful bantering subsides as my true feelings arise. My feelings of loathing and unexplainable frustration change my tone of voice, as well as the way I stand. "Try me. I dare you." He sends the sword for me, this time even faster, but I arch backwards and thrust my hand into the air, grasping the handle with perfect timing. Now I have both.

"You do know how to test my patience, I'll give you that." Magneto says, raising his hand. "But so do I." He stretches his arm out, pushing my swords backwards. No matter how hard I try, I can't move my hands past my hips. He's too strong. Why did I think I could beat him with metal swords?

"Come on Jade! Remember what the Professor told you!" Aaron shouts from behind me. He's right. Charles told me that I could overpower Magneto as long as I focused hard, but focusing has never been my strong suit, and right now I'm too worried about Aaron.

"Aaron! I told you to back up!" I can't afford to turn around, I can't take my eyes off of Magneto. "You should go!"

"No! I'm not leaving without you!"

"Fine!" I narrow my eyes at Magneto, hoping to gain a few inches towards him, but I can't move with my swords. "Could you at least wait outside? Or go help Logan with Pyro?" I wait a moment, hoping he'll say something. "Please?" He doesn't say anything, which I assume means he listened to me. My arms begin to shake as Magneto pushes harder, causing him to laugh.

"Tired, Jade?" He lifts off the ground and begins to float towards me, wearing that stupid grin. "Maybe we should take a break. Would you like a time out?" I scream in frustration. I'm frustrated that I'm not strong enough. I should be strong enough.

Maybe I am. I don't need my swords. I have my hands. I could easier rip out his throat, all I have to do is let go of these swords...

"You know what? Fuck this! I don't need these!" I release my grip on my swords and let them fly backwards, freeing me of their burden. I take a step forward, ready to unleash all of my anger on the man who has made my life so difficult, but then I hear it.

I hear the disturbing sound of metal puncturing flesh, followed by a familiar clunk against concrete. I turn around slowly, as if time has stopped. It must've stopped, because this can't be happening. "AARON!"

He's been pinned to the wall, with my swords protruding from his stomach. His blue eyes are wide with shock, I can't tell if he can see me when I run to his side, almost tripping over my own two feet. "Aaron. Aaron..." I clench my fists around the swords and pull them from his torso. I flinch when I hear his skin getting even more torn. He falls, now that there's nothing keeping him pinned to the wall, but I catch him before he can hit the ground. My hand instinctively goes to his stomach, but I cringe when I feel the twin slits. I look at my hands. They're covered in blood. Aaron's blood. "Oh no. No no no." I sit down with him, leaning him against the wall while I try to apply pressure to his wounds. No matter how hard I press, the bleeding doesn't stop. "This isn't happening. This can't be happening."

"Jade." Aaron mumbles my name, trying to calm me down. "Jade."

"I-I don't know what to do... I can't stop the bleeding..." I look into fading blue eyes and then back to my hands. "There's so much blood..." He manages to reach for my hands and pull them away from his wounds.

"It'll be okay." I nod my head, forcing myself to believe him.

"You're right. You're right. I'll stop the bleeding and we'll get you back home... I jus- I just need help." I turn my head, searching for someone who can help me. "Help! He's hurt!" I scream for help, but no one comes. I see Dan standing in the opening of the wall, holding an unconscious and bloody Belle in his arms. "HELP ME!" Tears fall from his eyes as he turns his back on me and runs out. Logan is still fighting Pyro, but he heard me and tried to make it over here. He slashes at Pyro, but Pyro dodged him and Logan cut into the tanker, causing more gasoline to spill. Tiny sparks are flying all around us, some from Pyro and some from the warehouse's failing structure. I turn back to Aaron and applying more pressure. "It'll be okay. We'll get you out of here, Aaron. Don't worry."

"Jade..." Blood is pooling onto his parted lips and running down to his chin. "You should go."

"No! I'm not leaving you!" My heart's beating too fast and my eyes are starting to fog. I've never felt stress like this. I've never felt this useless. "I'll get you to the jet, come one." I try to lift him, but he screams in pain. He's in so much pain. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." I reach up to run my fingers through his hair, forgetting about the blood on my hands. "I'm sorry..."

"Shhhhh..." He lifts his hand to my face, rubbing his thumb over the rise of my cheekbone. His sad blue eyes meet mine as tears roll down his cheeks, causing clean streaks in the blood. "I love you." I feel a part of me break when he says it, because I know that he knows it's his last time.

"You can't die. Please don't die." I can barely speak, it's like the words won't come out. "I need you." His eyes flutter shut. He's losing too much blood. "Aaron. Aaron!" I begin to shake him by the shoulders, being as careful as I can with his head. "Aaron please!" Nothing is working. He's exhausted and injured and bleeding. "Please... You're my best friend... I love you..." I say it, as if it's a spell that'll bring him back to me. "I love you." His eyes open, barely. He's too weak to sit up but he still smiles.

"Come... Here..." I lean forward, ready to hear whatever he has to say.

He presses his lips to my forehead, leaving a kiss painted in his own blood between my eyes. His hand moves to my stomach, which confuses me. I don't know what he's trying to do or say. I feel a familiar pressure and am sent backwards a few inches. "Aaron? Wha-" He just smiles at me, repeating that it's going to be okay, as I begin to float backwards, against my will. He's pushing me out, leaving everyone else inside the burning warehouse. Fires erupt all around me as I fly away from him, with my arms outstretched. "NO!" I claw at the air, as if that'll bring me back to him. "AARON!" I scream as loud as I can, but something tells me he can't hear me anymore.

Dan's POV

Jade hits the ground fighting and screaming, as if she could break the force field keeping us out. She lands in the snow, in a space we declared as the landing site for when Li picks us up.

"AARON! AARON!" She runs at the shield, using her entire body as a battering ram. Aaron set up a force field around the perimeter of the building, which is going up in flames. We're probably no more than 100 yards from it, but we can't hear or see what's going on inside. Logan made it out seconds before Jade came flying down. That leaves Magneto, Pyro, and... Aaron. "AARON!" Jade's blood curdling screams could wake the fucking dead. She won't stop beating against the shield. She won't stop trying to get to Aaron.

"Jade! Jade, he's gone!" Logan tries to pull her away, but she slams her head against his and runs back to the force field.

"I have to get to him! I have to get to Aaron! AARON!" Logan chokes back a sob as he reaches for Jade again.

"Jade, please..."

We all fall silent when the first explosion goes off, bouncing off of the inside of the force field. Several more follow, making Jade scream even louder. "AARON!"

The field fades away, causing Jade to gasp for air. "No..." She falls to the ground, as if her knees won't work. "No..." Tears stream down her face, falling to the ground and turning the snow red. "Aaron..." She begins to sob violently, rocking back and forth, grabbing at her chest. "AARON!"

I turn to Belle, who's now awake. She's sitting in the snow, her teary eyes glued to Jade. I wipe my cheeks free of tears, but they keep coming. The tears won't stop.

Even Logan has fallen to his knees, hanging his head in shame. He never likes losing a kid. Especially a kid like Aaron.

Jade won't stop crying. She's holding her heart, as if she can feel it physically breaking. She keeps screaming his name, as if he can hear her. We all look at each other, and I know we're all thinking the same thing. We've never seen Jade cry, and it's something we never want to experience.

Off in the distance, a red figure  materialized in thin air and drops into the remains of the building. Seconds later he flies out. Magneto made it out.

"Logan. What time is it?" Jade stops shaking and sits still. Her face is blank of all emotions. Logan glances at his watch as stands up, worried for her sanity.

"A little after midnight... Why?" A sickly satisfied look overcomes her face.

"I told you." She sits up, revealing the pile of bloody snow she's made. "I TOLD YOU AARON! I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN!" She won't stop saying it. She won't stop trying to prove him wrong. Jade did tell him  it would happen, but he wouldn't believe her.

All of a sudden, it's quiet. Jade's stopped screaming. In fact, she's stopped moving altogether. Her bright green eyes are glued to the ruins, the last tears are falling into the snow. Belle stands up, wiping away her tears so that Jade won't see them. "Jade?" She walks over to her and kneels down beside her. "We need to get going." Jade doesn't respond. She looks like a statue. Belle waves a hand in front of her eyes but nothing happens. Jade is unresponsive. "Jade? Honey?" She looks to me with extreme worry. I don't understand. I don't understand what happened. One minute everything was fine, everything was normal. Now Jade has lost her mind and Aaron is dead.

Aaron is dead.
