🌼Raiden's Babysitting Adventure Pt 1/3🌼

🌼Before you Read🌼

🌼For once, this is NOT a crossover which seems impossible since that's all I've been coming up with lately, but hey, here it is.

🌼You may notice a bit of old writing style in this. That's because I started this fic back in December of last year, so heads up if you notice a difference and stuff. It was just a fic that I nearly forgotten about until someone brought it up 😅 I just have a few parts to finish up before posting more.

🌼Timeline area...I'd say a bit after the Sports Festival, or basically, after the events of What Makes a Hero. But, if you've only read I'm No Hero, you should be good, especially since there should be LITTLE TO NO spoilers of the series, but is a canon story.

🌼Sorry in advance that the music cuts off at a VERY awkward place. It was the only thing I could find, and I thought it was fitting.

🌼I think that's all, so I hope you enjoy!

🌼Last Minute Babysitter🌼

There are a ton of things I'd rather do than be with my dad all day. I'd rather go to the dentist. I'd rather be dragged by my friends to go to the mall all day. I'd rather have a concussion and be forced out of my Heroic Classes for a month. It was hard to say the opposite, that I'd rather spend my time with him than do something else.

Babysitting was one of those very few things that I'd rather spend the day with my own dad than do. Kids were just the spawn of Satan. I mean, one moment, they're looking all innocent, and the next, they're using their Quirks to ambush you, but you can't hurt them cuz they're kids! They'd cry the second they were hurt, and they wouldn't stop crying until your ears bleed.

I was glad I had no younger siblings to deal with. The downside was that I had older siblings that always wanted me to babysit their kids.

"Oh, come on Raiden, it's just this once," my oldest sister, Niko, begged on the other side of the phone. "It won't be that hard. It'll just be the triplets and my baby. The oldest will be at a sleepover with the neighbors, so if you'd need anything—"

"Why can't you have the neighbors watch all five of them?" I asked. "I mean, the oldest is going to be there. Why can't they just watch over the other four?"

There was a pause on the phone, and hearing the silence, I knew why. Niko, her husband, and all of her kids never visited. After she left, she never made it an effort to visit, but I couldn't really blame her. No one in the family could after Niko had one of the strongest Quirks yet refused to become a Pro Hero like Dad wanted her to.

The only reason I have even seen her lately was because I begged her to come over when Dad was at work to help with some training.

It seemed like Niko remembered that all too well.

"You owe me, that's why," Niko threatened. Her voice was always a bit harsh, something she got from Dad, but hearing her now sent shivers down my spine. "I promised I'd never, ever, step foot inside that house again, but I did, not once, but three times last month, so you could help your friend train. Besides, it'll only be for a couple of hours, so Koji and I can celebrate our seven year anniversary. I'll make sure they've had supper, so you wouldn't even have to worry about that."

Hearing her say all of that, I knew there was no way out of it. I hardly wished for something like this, but I wished Dad would have forced me to stay home, so we could train. It wasn't the same kind of training I did with any of my older siblings, or with Tami for that matter. Whenever I trained with Dad, he made sure I wouldn't stop until I passed out. It was dangerous, but he made it his mission to create the best Pro Heroes in our family.

I was lucky those training days ended the moment I got into U.A. I didn't have to worry about it being the worst thing I endured. Being asked to babysit Niko's four youngest kids, well, I wouldn't mind going through Dad's training sessions for a week without a break.

Besides, I was meant to be a Pro Hero, not a babysitter.

"Please, I'm begging you," my sister tried once more. "The babysitter canceled last minute, and we can't get our money back for our reservations. Hell, I don't care if you have someone come over to help you do it. Just this one time, and I'll promise to always make time for you and your friend for your training sessions whenever you want."

Her one comment interested me for a moment.

"A friend?" I asked.

"Yes! Just no parties, but you can have one friend help you, and I'll bring something from the restaurant for you both," my sister explained.

I sighed. "Fine, but only if a friend of mine agrees to help out. If no one can, then I'm not doing it."

"Thank you so much, Raiden! You're the best little brother ever!" Niko squealed.

My eyes rolled when I heard that. "Don't tell that to Montez or Denji," I mumbled.

While I told her that, my older sister never answered. I pulled my phone away from my ear and looked down at it, noticing she had already hung up. She was putting way too much faith that I'd have a friend that would have nothing to do on a Saturday night. Sure, I was one to stay home most of the time, but that didn't mean my friends didn't.

That was when I realized why she asked me. Niko had two sisters here in Musutafu, Japan she could have asked. True, Hastuko was at work with Dad, so she was out of the question. As for Luz, I don't think she could've handled it.

From what I could remember from video calls and get-togethers outside of my home, Niko's kids were monsters with endless energy.

There was no way anyone would agree to babysit with me. It'd be a death wish.

At that moment, the universe seemed to conspire against me as I saw a text from the one person who would probably take on the challenge. I didn't want her to meet my nieces and nephews, but I couldn't get Niko's pleading voice out of my head.

I opened the message, quickly reading what she had to say, hoping she was busy.

It was the opposite.

Tami Smith

Hey, I'm on my way to your house for training. I might get there a bit early, if that's okay. If not, I can just run through the store quick. I'll let you know when I get closer.

How could I be such an idiot? I had completely forgotten about our training session. Normally, I didn't have her come over on weekends for the sole fact that my dad was home. There was no way I was going to have those two under the same roof, not if there was a way I could prevent that from happening.

Even without that happening, I tried to avoid having her train on weekends anyways. She had friends and family she could spend time with. The only reason why it wasn't like that this week was because she had some huge projects for some of her classes she needed to finish. Tami promised she'd keep up with some exercises and the moves that she had learned during that time, but I wanted to make sure she at least had some sort of practice before the week was over.

The last thing I wanted was for Tami to be in trouble again.

A part of me didn't want to ask her. She shouldn't have to meet all four of the devil spawns in one night, let alone babysit them. Besides, she had some big projects that probably kept her up all night every night this week. It would be best if I told her to go back home.

But, if I told her that, she'd worry something was wrong. I knew if I told her I was babysitting, she'd just offer to help. Tami was always like that. No one had to ask for help; she'd just know and give it.

So much could go wrong if I just let her come with me to Niko's to babysit, but doing it alone would be torture.

Without a second thought, I pressed her number on my phone, calling her.

🌼🌼🌼

"Thanks for doing this," I mumbled as Tami and I turned onto the street where Niko lived.

I didn't really look Tami in the eyes the entire time we walked as I had a hard time remembering where Niko lived. It wasn't like this was the first time I had been to her house, but usually Hatsuko drove me there, or a group of my siblings and I walked there together. With the amount of houses there were, it made it a bit trickier to find.

Niko lived closer to where Tami lived, but not the same area. She lived a bit of ways from there. Tami and I ended up taking the bus as far as we could before we had to walk. At least my sister would drive us back home, so I wouldn't have to worry about it much once it got dark.

Thing was, the sun was starting to set, which made it harder to see.

"No problem," Tami replied. "I feel like I kind of owe you one. You know, for the self-defense lessons and all, so it's the least I can do."

Hearing that come from Tami just caused me to shake my head.

"You're not indebted to me, you know," I told her. "Besides, I'm just doing my job as a Pro Hero in training. The more people that know how to stand up for themselves when danger comes, the less casualties there'll be."

"Oh, okay," Tami muttered. "I-I didn't mean it like that. I mean, I'm just really grateful and..."

Whatever she said next, I didn't hear. Her voice just got softer and softer until it was gone. I turned my head to look at her, noticing the small blonde looking down at the ground as she started scratching the back of her neck.

That was what I get for trying to calm her down. It wasn't like I was mean about my comment. All I said was that it was no big deal. Besides, I didn't want her feeling like she owed me. She could have said no if she didn't want to help out or had better things to do tonight.

"It's fine," I said, looking at the house we were at. "We're here."

Tami turned around, seeing my sister's place for the first time. It wasn't a huge home, but it wasn't exactly small either as the two story, brick building stood there with a sidewalk leading towards the front door. The yard was much bigger than I remembered, but there was no way I could just let the kids run around when it was getting darker outside.

We walked to the front door. Before I could even knock, I could hear the screams and shouts of the children inside. Even with Tami's help, I could tell tonight was going to be a long night. Tami and I waited for a bit before I realized no one inside heard me from all the noise. Knowing my sister, I wasn't going to take my chances as I simply pushed the door open.

"Eikō, Hoshi, you two get down here right now, or else I'll throw la chancla at you!" my sister's voice boomed from a distance.

In the corner of my eye, I could see Tami's eyes widen in shock at what she was hearing. Then again, most people did when they heard the word chancla come out of a Mexican (or in my sister's case, part Mexican) woman's mouth. Our Mamá never threatened to take hers out when Tami was around, but that was because I made sure not to do anything stupid when Tami was around. Even though she didn't know what it was, the blonde knew the word struck fear in everyone.

Before Tami could even ask, I answered her question. "Don't worry, it's just a sandal that's used if someone steps out of line. She won't hurt you, just Eikō and Hoshi."

While my words were supposed to help calm her down, I noticed the petite girl only tense up even more. She tore her head away from me as she started to tuck a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear. Her hand lingered a bit as she did, almost as if she was second guessing what she was getting herself into.

Before she even said yes to helping me out, I told her time and time again that she didn't have to do this. My nieces and nephews were a handful. Being that we were going to babysit one less kid wasn't going to make much of a difference. Four kids versus Tami and I weren't exactly good odds.

Give me four villains to go up against by myself. I'd rather do that than this!

Something wrapped around my leg, causing me to look down. A small three-year-old girl wrapped her tiny little arms around me, smashing her face into my leg. Her pink hair was pulled up into two pigtails while she wore a pair of white footie pajamas.

"Uncle Raiden! Uncle Raiden!" she cheered before looking up at me with her big round red eyes. "I got a Quirk! Wanna see?"

My eyes widened when I suddenly realized the horrors that could happen. Niko had triplets: Eikō, Hoshi, and Rin. If I remembered right, Rin was a bit older than her two brothers by a minute or five, but they were all three years old.

Three was the age kids started developing Quirks.

I must not have answered fast enough as Tami knelt down and looked at Rin

"You got a Quirk?" she asked my niece. "What is it?"

Rin opened her mouth in awe of Tami. I wasn't sure why at first. I mean, nothing against my friend, but she looked like everyone else. Tami wasn't average by any means, but it wasn't exactly easy to tell just by her looks, especially since all she really wore was a pair of blue shorts and a white t-shirt.

"Wow, you're pretty. Are you a princess?" Rin asked as she walked over towards Tami.

My jaw dropped at her comment. A princess? I looked at her pajamas a bit more closely, noticing the tiny tiaras adorning it while it had the words "Daddy's little princess" in sparkly pink letters.

She must've been in a princess phase of some kind, I thought to myself as I looked over at Tami. In all honesty, I didn't know what to think about her. Before she even dated our friend, Kaito—who was now her ex—I remember him rambling on and on about how pretty she was. I didn't get it. Was it the way she looked or was it something else?

Not that looks really mattered. Tami shined in ways most people would overlook. The blonde smiled at the little girl as she held her hand out to her.

"No, but I can tell by your shirt you're a princess. Maybe you can teach me how to be one," Tami suggested.

That was all it took for her to win Rin over. The small little girl grabbed Tami's hand and started pulling her away. I just shook my head as I watched the two walking down the hallway, forgetting about me.

Not that it mattered. There were still three little rascals I had to take care of. One less wasn't really going to do much for my sanity. As long as I could make sure Eikō, Hoshi, or Kieko from setting the house on fire, then everything will be fine.

"Raiden, you're here."

I turned around to see Niko's husband, Koji, standing there. Like Rin, he had pink hair, but he was a lot chubbier than any of his kids. He was also a lot shorter than I was too, even shorter than his wife, but that didn't seem to bother him much.

In his arms was the youngest, Keiko, who was a bit cuckoo. She was probably the only one that looked somewhat like Niko with her brown hair and eyes. The only thing that made her look more like Koji was the fact that she was already plump like him, especially with how big her cheeks were. Keiko just wasn't as big as he was, but she was still a baby, so there's that.

"Yeah," I replied. "My friend, Tami Smith, is here too, but she went to play with Rin."

My brother-in-law blinked for a moment before opening his mouth. "She? As in a girl? You know, I don't think babysitting is the ideal place to take a girl out on a date."

I rolled my eyes. "Tami's just a friend," I claimed. "She's the one I have Niko come over with to help her train for self defense, which was what we were going to do tonight before you guys called."

As harsh as my comment was, Koji didn't seem phased. Instead, he decided to give me immediate payback as he handed his youngest daughter to me. He didn't even give me a choice, causing me to look down at the smallest one, the biggest devil spawn of them all. She looked up at me with these huge brown eyes just moments before she decided to try and start squirming all over the place.

"Keep a close eye on her," Koji warned. "She can walk now, and boi, does she walk fast! In an hour, you can take her down for a nap, and have the triplets watch a movie. Just nothing scary."

I couldn't say much as I readjusted Rin, trying to keep her in my arms as much as possible. Every time I thought I had a solid grip on her, she'd flail an arm or start kicking. It wasn't long that the tears started to collect in her eyes, followed by the terrifying screams as if she was the one in a horror movie.

Little did this guy know a horror movie was the last thing I'd watch with his kids. It wasn't because they couldn't handle it. I could. The first one I watched was when I was five years old, but that was because Denji and Montez forced Luz and me to watch when they were all still living at home.

No, the reason I wasn't going to watch a horror movie was because of Tami. Whether she could handle them or not was another story, but I didn't want to take my chances in seeing her scared. The poor girl went through enough horrors in the past few months. Babysitting these monsters will probably be another thing she'd add to the list.

My eyes were glued onto the baby when I felt someone's hand tousle my hair. I growled at what she did, but when I looked back at her, my older sister wasn't there.

"Have fun! Text me if you need anything," Niko's voice said. "Bye!"

I turned my head once more only to catch the front door closing behind them, leaving Tami and me with four tiny spawns of Satan.

If I thought I could survive, that thought went away the moment I smelled a horrifying smell just as the small baby in my arms gave an ear-piercing scream.
