The Phantom Requiem

Verse 1: Disappearance

Shiro

Bzzt! Bzzt!

I open my eyes groggily and groan. I reached my hand out and grabbed my phone. Holding it up to my ear, I mumbled, "Hello."

"Shiro?" A frantic voice whispered.

"Mrs. Holt? Is something wrong?"

"Do you know where Matt and Pidge are?"

"No..." I replied as my body and mind began to wake up.

"Matt and Pidge went out to eat to celebrate his successful year at college and disappeared. I was hoping that they were with you or that you had seen them."

"I haven't.... I'll let you know if I find them."

"Thank you, Shiro."

After she hung up, I stared at my phone for a bit. After a few seconds, I phoned my friend and held the phone to my ear. "Lance?"

Static.

I gulped and tried again. "Lance?"

Silence.

"Not good, not good...." I mumbled as I frantically called my brother Keith. "Keith!?!?!?!?"

Silence.

Maybe he's at Lance's, the rational part of my head told me.

Maybe he's dead, the paranoid part bitterly spat.

"Keith?" I yelled, hoping that my brother was at home.

The silence grew heavier.

My grip on my phone tightened. "No, no, no, no,no!" I bolted from the bed and scrambled to my closet. After throwing on some clothes (that probably didn't match), I dashed out of my room and skipped steps on the staircase. Grabbing my keys, I ran from my house and phoned my friend Allura.

"Allura?!?!?"

As panic spread through my body, I heard Allura reply. "Hello Shiro. You're up early."

"Matt and Pidge went missing, and I'm going to look for them, as well as Lance and Keith," I huffed as I ran.

"Oh no!"

"Can you help me?"

"Of course. Where shall we meet?"

"Coran's Family Diner."

"On my way."

Allura hung up. I put my phone up and kept running.

Keith, please be safe.

"Everyone stay in your seats," her sickening voice hummed.

"Get away from me!" I screamed, but it was useless. I was chained in place and my hands were bound.

"Don't be such a grouch...." She muttered as she approached me. "We're going to play together forever and ever!"
