Chapter 39: Writers' Schism: Case Closed

Writers' Schism: Case Closed

---

THE SHARP pain that cut through Ann's face was horrifying as she let out a sound that was a mixture of a piercing cry and a gasp.

"STAND BACK!"

Milo's surprising shout made everyone flinch. Blood was dripping from Ann's left cheek, as her appréhender pointed the knife towards her neck.

- the familiar white polo with long sleeves and black slacks.

If they could, the Gintuan twins would have already rushed inside. But with Ann under Milo's hold, charging into the living room would have risked Ann's life even more.

As Ann struggled within Milo's grasp, she stared pleadingly at her friends - the first time that any of them had seen fear from the young Lobris heir.

All their years as Junior High School students, Ann Lobris was always firm, tough, and quite intimidating on the outside; always having her life together that made her the subject of envy throughout Castillo High.

But as Queenie worriedly watched Milo point the knife at Ann, they could see the fright in Ann's eyes as clear as day - as if she were nothing more than a scared little fawn under the headlights of a hunter - far from the strong-willed Lobris that everyone knew.

"Calm down," Queenie mouthed to Ann, habang pilit na tinatansiya ni Officer Keano ang binata na hawak-hawak ang dalaga.

Ann pursed her trembling lips as she gave a small nod, trying to calm down under Milo's grasp. As she watched Officer Keano trying to domineer Milo, her forehead creased in confusion when she noticed another person recoil behind Queenie - a dainty young girl with long brown hair cowering in fear.

To her surprise, she realized it was none other than Tyra Galvino.

"If any of you step forward, I won't hesitate to harm her."

Malalim ang pag-hinga ni Milo habang binbantaan ang mga nakapaligid sa kanila, na para bang natatakot ito - terrified that he and his twin won't be able to get away with their plan.

"You wouldn't want to anger my brother, officer." Mayer said quietly, eyes steady at Officer Keano who was alternating the aim of his gun on both brothers. "He can be very... very... aggressive."

"You have the right to remain silent."

"I SAID DON'T MOVE." Sigaw muli ni Officer Keano, cocking his gun at Milo.

Ann could feel Milo's ragged breaths behind her, and the tip of the knife slightly above her skin. Quickly, Ann racked her brain, trying to think of ways that she could outsmart her way out of his grasp. But as she was trying to study what Milo's next move would be, there was a sudden whiplash of movement from below that caught them all in surprise.

Everything soon happened all at once - similar to the quick flash of lightning that even Ann herself didn't understood what had just occurred right before her eyes.

All she knew was that in just a span of mere seconds, there was a large crashing sound that hit Mayer's legs from behind, causing the boy to let go of both Ann and the knife in his hands as he scrambled to the floor in pain.

"WALANG GAGALAW!" Officer Keano yelled as he ran forward and apprehended a pained Milo; with Quinn, Queenie and Tyra rushing quickly behind the officer.

"ANN!" Queenie yelled as she grabbed her friend by the arm, pulling her away from Milo's reach.

"And where do you think you're going?" Quinn tutted, blocking Mayer firmly before pinning his arms behind his back.

"You jerk!" Ann exclaimed in surprise just as she was free from her binds.

The one who had knocked the young Cortez boy was none other than Rein Maccio himself, who was smirking at his rival playfully. Ann gaped at him in disbelief.

"Gising ka pala all this time?!"

"I guess you can say I handle hits better than anyone." Rein chuckled, the bruise that Milo had gave him earlier still very much evident on his face.

Hindi mapigilan na mapatahimik ang dalaga sa sinabi ng kaniyang karibal, slowly realizing that Rein's statement alluded to his abusive father. Before she could say anything though, Queenie had wrapped her into a hug.

"Akala ko 'di na kami makakaabot!" Queenie sighed in relief as Ann hugged her back tightly, glancing back at Rein with a grateful expression.

The young man had turned silent - bearing a dark expression on his face while Quinn on the other hand was struggling to apprehend an out of control Mayer.

"NO!" Nagwawalang-sigaw ni Mayer habang pilit na umaaklas. "OUR FATHER WILL KILL US!" The young man raged on hysterically, and Officer Keano immediately handcuffed his hands as well before he could slip out of Quinn's unsteady grasp.

"We'll take care of your bruise later, you stubborn lump of muscle." Ann muttered to her rival as she untied Rein's hands and legs, the young man still smirking at her despite the ugly patch on his face.

Meanwhile, Queenie helped untie Jarrell who seemed relieved that their friends had arrived in time.

"MEDYO NATAGALAN KAYO D'ON AH. Nag-aalala na 'ko kanina na baka iiwan niyo na kami dito." Nguso ni Jarrell sa kambal as Ann and Rein finally stood up, grinning at him.

"Ayaw pang maniwala nung una ni Officer Keano eh." Bulong pabalik ni Quinn, dahilan para matawa ang magkakaibigan.

"I heard that." The officer said curtly as he grabbed the Cortez twins by the back of their shirts.

Tyra on the other hand, helped Sera up from the ground after the former had untied the binds of the latter. The young girl couldn't meet Sera's gaze, or the gaze of any of her other classmates. She then hung her head low in shame, blinking away the tears of regret welling up in her eyes.

"I-I'm," Tyra stuttered before taking a deep breath and trying again.

"I'm sorry," She said quietly, the words finally loud enough for everyone to hear. "I'm sorry-y that I became a part of this and didn't stop them sooner, I just-" The young girl's voice suddenly cracked as the tears pooled from her eyes. "I just wanted to protect myse-"

"Hush T, it's okay," Ann interjected reassuringly, grabbing the young girl's hand in reassurance as tears rolled down Tyra' face.

"But I'm an enabler." Iling ni Tyra, feeling the most dishonored she had ever felt in her entire life.

F-For accusing you in front of Professor Z-Zaldiga."

"Psh Tyra, wala 'yon," Jarrell scoffed playfully, waving one hand in the air na para bang binabale-wala lamang iyon.

"Just know that you're safe now." Queenie said in a serious tone, placing a comforting hand on Tyra's shoulder who then glanced at Sera who was staring at her.

Before Tyra could react, Sera surprisingly had wrapped the three girls into a hug, and it was more than enough for Tyra to fully break down into tears - her chest heaving as she sobbed fully.

Ilang buwan ring naging conflicted ang dalaga sa pag-participate nito sa mga plano ng kaniyang ex-boyfriend na si Mayer - torn between doing what was right and sacrificing her own dignity, or following Mayer's commands at the expense of others. She had nowhere to go to and confide in, so the last thing that Tyra expected was the support from her classmates that she weren't even that close to begin with.

"Thank y-you," hikbi ng dalaga. "T-Thank you all, f-for u-understanding."

"Just remember this Tyra," Bulong ni Sera. "What you're known for, and what you've done in the past; do not wholly define who you are now." The young Madrigal girl whispered, words of advice that she felt she needed to remind herself too.

"Thank you Sera," Tyra mumbled incoherently as she wiped away the tears that kept coming. Sera then rubbed her back as a response before glancing up, only to see the boys grinning as well - Jarrell most of all - who was beaming at her with an expression that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

Maybe he was looking at her proudly - Sera wasn't sure. Basta ang ginawa nalang ng dalaga out of instinct ay binelatan ito, sticking her tongue out at Jarrell playfully whose grin turned into a look of scorn that made Rein and Quinn laugh obnoxiously.

"I don't mean to interrupt kids, but we need to get going." Officer Keano cut in, prompting the group to break away from each other. Seryoso ang tono ng opisyal habang patuloy pa ring nagwawala si Mayer - trying to run out of the officer's grasp. "Kailangan ko kayong dalhin sa Principal's office as soon as possible while this case is still fresh."

"Principal Lilia?" Sera frowned as the girls let go of one another. "Hindi po ba sa headquarters ninyo tayo didiretso, officer?"

"No," Iling ng matanda. "That's not how it works. We in the O.C.P. can't officially apprehend students, especially minors such as you, without undergoing the evaluation of the Principal first - lalo na't involved ang Writers' Schism dito which is a school matter." Officer Keano explained as he held on tightly to the twins. "Which also means you seven are coming along with me to testify against these two to the school admin." He then looked at each one of the students before them who froze at the prospect, glancing at one another.

Kahit na pinagplanuhan ng mga ito ang kanilang operasyon na tapusin ngayong araw ang Writers' Schism case once and for all, ay hindi nila na-consider na planuhin ang aftermath ng kaso. How they were going to face Principal Lilia and explain why they had placed it upon themselves to investigate the case suddenly terrified them - fear that consumed them all in different ways.

Officer Keano did not understood this fear though, and merely frowned as he realized how badly beaten up the youngsters were in terms of their physical features.

"On second thought, magpapatawag rin tayo ng nurse sa Principal's Office para gamutin 'yang mga sugat niyo." He sighed before letting out a series of grumbles. As part of the O.C.P., Officer Keano did expect the school to have a few investigative cases here and there. But what he didn't expect was that a case as scandalous as this one would ever come to light in the academe. At the ripe age of 34 years old, the officer was proven wrong.

"Clearly, I'm not being paid enough for this."

"All right that's enough." The officer reprimanded, though he had a small smile on his face. "Boys," tango nito sa tatlong lalaki. "Kung pwede niyo kong tulungan na i-hold down itong si-" Nahihirapang dagdag ng matanda habang patuloy sa pag-yapos at sigaw si Mayer. Kaya naman ay agad na pinuntahan ni Rein, Quinn at Jarrell - holding him down firmly as they finally led the Cortez twins out the door.

"So, how did you do it?" Ann whispered to Queenie as she linked her arm around Queenie's arm, the girls slowly following the boys out, with Officer Keano on the lead.

"We stuck to the plan." Queenie whispered back. "Tinakbuhan agad namin ang headquarters at ang nand'on na naka-duty ay si Officer Keano. Pinarinig namin sa kaniya yung earpieces namin ni Quinn. At first, medyo nagloloko yung devices either dahil sa mahinang signal, o dahil siguro kasi binagsak nina Mayer sa lamesa yung mga earpieces niyo nung kinuha niya. But it picked up signal somehow, and only then did Officer Keano ran here with us."

"I meant how did you guys convince Tyra?" Ann explained with a small chuckle.

"We didn't." Queenie laughed, making Tyra smile shyly. "Siya ang sumama s'amin."

"I guess you already knew, but I was already looking for Queenie and Quinn," Pagpapaliwanag ni Tyra sa tatlong dalagang nakikinig. "Milo had already informed me and Mayer through a text that Ann and Rein had broke into their room, and he wanted us to round you all up. Mayer was already talking to Sera and Jarrell so he had easily exposed them, which left me to look out for Queenie and Quinn --- who I saw was running towards the O.C.P.'s headquarters. I thought that it was the perfect time to tell them about my trapped situation - only for me to find out that you guys already knew." She smiled fondly.

"Oh God," Ann slapped her forehead in embarrassment. "S-Sorry Tyra, we didn't mean to break into your room and invade your privac-"

"It's alright, Ann." Tyra said reassuringly, reaching out to pat Ann's hand. "In fact, I'm kind of relieved that I didn't have to explain myself to Queenie and Quinn. The six of you knowing had saved me from a lot of trouble." The young girl confessed.

"And besides, I'm glad it's done." Dagdag ni Tyra. "Medyo kinakabahan nga lang ako -- I don't think I'm ready to face Principal Lilia and explain everything to her."

"If you're worried about Principal Lilia, mag nag-aaalala ako sa idea na baka tawagin niya mga magulang natin." Queenie chewed her lower lip nervously. "Our poor father will have a heart attack pag nalaman niyang hindi pag-aaral ang inaatupag namin ni Quinston!"

Ann didn't reply - her thoughts far away as the three girls next to her conversed anxiously.

Last night, on the eve of their big plan, Ann had already weighed out what this revelation's effects may mean for all of them. And this had included the possibility that Principal Lilia might insist to inform their parents about the complex situation - one that would need the reiteration and input of their parents.

Ann gritted her teeth. She wasn't ready at all, but deep inside, she knew she had to face the consequences.

There was no one else to blame but her anyway. Nagsimula lang naman ang kaguluhang ito dahil sa kaniya --- as she was the one who had proposed to Rein, her very own rival, the plan to be partners for the Writers' Schism. Kung hindi niya ito ginawa, they would all be living their peaceful, perfect lives separately.

With Mayer the only one making a ruckus, the group then silently arrived at the last steps of the staircase.

Ann let out a heavy breath. If worse comes to worst, she knew that she had to take responsibility for her actions, even if that would mean owning up to it all and sacrificing her own freedom - anything just to make sure her friends won't have to face the looming disappointment of their families. She had to keep them all safe from the consequences.

Ann then glanced at Rein.

"Especially Rein." A part of her mind said.

"This is going to be a sight." Sera gritted her teeth, and the group braced themselves as they opened the doors to the boys' dormitory - stepping out into the real world with their hearts and bruises on their sleeves.

Everyone in Castillo High was going to know what they had done.

---

"Ah, senator, attorney! We're so glad the both of you have made it." Professor Airyn greeted Senator Alejandro Maurice Lobris and Attorney Gabrielle Lobris brightly.

The Lobris couple had arrived through the family's limousine that dropped them right in front of Castillo High's main building, in order to attend "Aim High, Castillo High!" - a seminar held at that particular building in honor of the academe's first day of the Foundation Week, where the couple was invited to be part of the seminar's guest speakers.

"We're happy to be here, professor." Attorney Gabrielle smiled kindly, though still maintaining her intimidating aura as the Lobris couple reached the top of the stairs leading to Castillo High's main building, where Professor Airyn was waiting for them. "Have you seen our daughter Annaliese by the way? You're her adviser, correct?"

"Yes attorney. I'm sure she's around here somewhere. The students are allowed to explore the booths for the whole week. If you'd want, we can call for her through the school's broadcast system." The professor offered.

"That won't be necessary-"

"Ah, the Lobris couple!" A familiar voice boomed, and the three adults turned around to see the arrival of Mr. Ryder Elias Maccio who seemed to have a smug smirk plastered on his face as he slammed his car door behind him. Just as the last time the businessman and the senator had met, Rein's father was wearing an expensive suit and tie that made him look twice as handsome, smart, and precise. "I see you're here for the seminar too. I should've known they'd hire you as guest speakers as well-it'd be a surprise if they didn't."

"Maccio." The senator greeted him coldly.

"Good morning, Mr. Maccio." The adviser of 10 - Fortitude said, her eyes darting nervously at both men, afraid that another quarrel may arise if she didn't separate Mr. Maccio and the Lobrises soon. "Please, ma'am, sirs, let me escort you all to the amphitheater where the seminar will be held-"

Professor Airyn's invitation was cut off though, when a series of clicking noises and yells were suddenly heard from afar, prompting the group to turn around in curiosity.

"TABI! TABI!"

"Andy'an na si mayor!"

"Reporting live! Mayor Marquez has finally returned to visit his alma mater on its foundation week after being seemingly absent on last year's event!"

"Mayor, dito po tingin!"

"Isang picture lang po, mayor!"

Journalists, reporters, cameramen and a frenzy of flashes here and there, surrounded none other than Mayor Jerome Blake Marquez who was walking up to the group with a charming smile.

"Ah, Jerome, my friend!" Mr. Maccio hollered, greeting the mayor with a warm, firm pat on the back that was immediately captured by the cameras surrounding them.

Sa likod ng mayor ay ang kaniyang tatlong bodyguards na naka-suot ng shades, wired earpieces, at ang kanilang black na uniporme; trying to block any reporter who would come too near to the mayor.

"Elias! Of course you'd be here."

"Mayor Marquez," the senator greeted Ylando City's most popular man with a formal huff, causing the mayor to laugh at his serious demeanor. "Buti naman at naisipan mong dalawin ulit ang Castillo High. Not so busy in the city hall at this time of the year?"

"Far from it." The mayor grinned as cameras all around the group of adults flashed rapidly. "Masyadong maraming trabaho - but I couldn't decline Castillo High's wonderful invite to be a guest speaker for an important seminar, especially after not being able to attend on last year's occasion." Pagpapaliwanag nito, before turning to the senator's wife and reaching out for her hand.

"Attorney Gabrielle," he said charmingly, kissing her hand.

"Mayor Marquez," the prosecuting attorney nodded back as a greeting, and the mayor then turned to the professor who seemed star struck with all the personalities surrounding her.

"Professor Airyn, lovely to see you again." The mayor greeted heartily, also kissing her hand. "Kamusta ang anak ko, professor?"

"Oh! Jarrell is still a charming and talented student of his own, mayor." The petite professor nodded amiably with a chuckle as she thought fondly of jarrell as her student.

"He isn't stirring up trouble?" The mayor asked, causing Mr. Maccio to snicker.

"Young boys will always cause trouble, Jerome!" The businessman chuckled. "Especially our two boys together."

"I certainly hope not." The mayor sighed as Professor Airyn soon tried to usher them towards the entrance of the main building once more.

"If you'd let me lead dear parents, we can all now head to-"

There was a gasp and a rumble of murmurs that surged throughout the crowd - catching the attention of the paparazzi that was once following the group.

"What's that??"

"It's an O.C.P.!"

"What the hell?? Is that Mayer?!"

Dahil sa kaingayang ito ay napalingon rin ang mga magulang sa kanilang likuran, looking back at the group of people clustered on the central grounds, pushing one another as if trying to get a better view of something.

"It must be one of the students' or booth's activities, dear parents." The professor cleared her throat, despite having her eye still on the crowd. "Halika na po, dalhin ko na kay-"

"Oh my God!" Another voice cried out in horror, and by now, the senator's face was contorted into a deeply unsettled frown as he took one step down from the stairs leading to the Castillo main building.

"Is that..." His voice trailed off, at agad na sumunod rin ang iba pang mga matatanda na bumaba na rin mula sa hagdan at lumapit sa nagkukumpulan na mga tao.

At first, there was nothing else to see behind the cluster of people who were whispering to their selves, not until a sliver of the scene being discussed by everyone was shown when three students moved out of their way.

There on the grounds, seemingly coming from the boys' dormitory, was a group headed by an officer of the Official Castillian Police, who had his hands on two young handcuffed men who looked very similar to one another. One of the young boys who were handcuffed was out of control - shouting and screaming like a wild animal wanting to get out of its cage.

"Jarrell??" Mayor Marquez frowned in confusion as he spotted his son as one of the boys holding onto the boy who was out of control. "Is that Quinston and R-"

"Rein."

"ANNALIESE?!" Attorney Gabrielle gasped out loud, catching the attention of some of the reporters who immediately shifted the focus of their cameras back on the group of adults.

"Officer, I demand to know what is going on!" Senator Alejandro Lobris demanded, rushing forward and grabbing his daughter Ann by the arm, pulling her away from the group.

"Dad, wait-!" Ann cried, as the senator pushed his daughter towards his wife who held her tightly.

"Annaliese! Anong nangyari anak?! Who did this to you?!" Her mother cried out as she held her daughter's face, horrified to see the slash of a cut right across her left cheek.

Mas lalong naguluhan ang lahat ng taong nanonood sa grounds - some breaking into gasps and the others mumbling amongst themselves.

"Officer Keano, anong nangyayari??" Kunot-noong tanong ng mayor as he confronted the officer holding the two boys - the paparazzi going crazy around them.

"Sir, there has been a case involving these students," Pagpapaliwanag ng pulis. "I don't know the whole story myself, so I believe we should take this to the Principal's office first."

"Hi dad." Jarrell said sheepishly, rubbing his nape and smiling weakly at his father whose bigger stature towered over him.

The disapproving look on the mayor's face was enough to make Jarrell drop his arm and bow his head; whilst Mr. Maccio had now pulled his son aside, his grip on Rein strong and firm that Rein's arm was now turning red.

"Oh God here we go." Sera muttered under her breath, glancing weakly beside her to see that Quinn, Queenie and Tyra couldn't even look up to meet the judging gazes of everyone that was looking down upon them.

But if the teenagers were scared of what was to come, their adults and parents on the other hand were horrified - all of them in the dark of what was happening to their children, and wondering if this was what teenagers nowadays meant when they want a good time.

---

"I DEMAND TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!"

"Anong kinalaman ng anak ko sa kasong ito?!"

"This is absurd, principal! I suggest that you take my son out of this-"

"WE WILL SUE THE PERSON WHO DID THIS TO OUR DAUGHTER!"

"PARENTS!" The principal bellowed, silencing the adults who had gotten out of control only minutes of stepping inside the conference room of the Principal's Office.

The conference room was nothing but a wide room with one long, wooden table in the middle that hosted at least twenty cushioned chairs surrounding it. There were a few potted plants and paintings here and there to furnish the room's white and teal-colored wallpaper.

Nakabantay sa likod nito si Professor Zaldiga, ang head discipline officer na nakatingin sa magkaribal - his gaze to Ann and Rein were along the lines of, "what did you do this time?" that made Ann shrink further into her seat.

Professor Wyanna Perlita, the director for Literary Studies and the chairman of the Writers' Schism board, was also called to the Principal's office, examining the evidences spread throughout the table in disbelief.

Everyone was there. Ann was seated with her father the senator, and her mother the attorney who didn't take her eyes off her daughter. Rein was seated beside his father who was growing more and more impatient by the minute, and Jarrell was beside the mayor - cowering beside him in a slouch.

Opposite to them was Sera, Quinn, Queenie, and then Tyra, who had a stretch of vacant seats next to her - except at the end of the table, kung nasaan nakaupo ang Cortez twins na malugod na binabantayan ni Officer Keano sa kanilang likuran.

Before letting the parents inside the conference room, Principal Lilia had first resorted to interviewing the kids alone, with only the presence of Officer Keano, Professor Zaldiga and Professor Wyanna to avoid the distraction and judgment of the students' parents.

"Brace yourselves. Dahil sa ginawa niyo ay mukhang magkakagulo ang mga magulang ninyo. Let's hope for a peaceful meeting with them later." The principal warned them earlier, and she wasn't any more right.

Nang pinapasok na ni Professor Zaldiga ang mga magulang sa loob ng conference room ay awtomatikong nag-rereklamo na ang mga ito habang pinuntahan agad ang mga anak nilang nakaupo palibot ng lamesa; demanding to know why their children were involved with the O.C.P.

"Principal Lilia, my daughter has behaved all her life. She would not choose to include herself in a sensitive case - especially on her last year as a Junior High student!" The senator said urgingly, slamming the table with a fist.

"Senator, if you please." The principal said with pursed lips. "We cannot start this meeting without the other parents. It is only right that we wait."

"But you've already talked to the children without us!" The attorney argued. "Kami ang mga magulang - kami ang dapat na mas nakakaalam tungkol sa mga kaso at buhay ng mga anak namin!"

"Exactly, attorney. Which is why I implore you all to be a little more patient so that I won't have to repeat myself to all of you. Mas magandang sabay-sabay na marinig niyong mga magulang ang mga detalye ng kaso, especially in an issue as case-sensitive as this."

Sakto naman na pagkasabi nito ni Principal Lilia ay may kumatok sa pintuan ng conference room, prompting everyone to turn their heads to the door, only to see a man's head peek inside.

"Principal Lilia, we've received your urgent message to a parents' meeting?" The man, who had a balding spot on his head, asked hesitantly; glancing at the others who eyed him. He was followed inside by a quiet, dainty woman with long, straight, brown hair.

"May ginawa po ba ang anak namin?" The woman asked worriedly as they walked towards Tyra. Ann couldn't help but stare longer - the woman looked exactly like Tyra, except she was more older-looking with her wrinkles, frown lines, and her light-brown hair slowly turning gray. Both of them were wearing long, white coats. They were after all, two of the finest doctors in the city.

"We'll find out soon enough, Mr. and Mrs. Galvino. Please, upo po kayo." Sambit ng principal, at agad na umupo ang mag-asawa sa tabi ng kanilang anak.

"I'm sorry we're late," Another feminine voice suddenly said, and everyone turned their heads to the door once more, only to see none other than beauty queen Savannah Rodrigo Madrigal enter the room.

The woman was tall, fair-skinned and had soft, long, dark brown hair that curled at the ends. She was even more beautiful in personal, bearing striking resemblance to Sera who muttered a curse word at the arrival of her parents.

This man had very broad-shoulders, a chiseled jawline, and was wearing dark Gucci shades. It was the international model Stephen Madrigal, who had immediately surveyed the room, looking for their daughter.

"Sera," Mrs. Madrigal sighed as the two walked towards Sera who couldn't meet their eye.

"Principal Lilia," tango ni Stephen Madrigal, sabay tanggal ng kaniyang shades.

"Please, Mr. and Mrs. Madrigal, you may seat next to your daughter." The principal said, and both Quinn and Queenie immediately left their two seats next to Sera so that the Madrigals could sit.

"Principal Lilia." Sambit ng isang lalaking naka-suot ng isang blue polo at slacks. He had rectangular glasses, and dark, curly, untidy hair similar to Quinn and Queenie's.

"Pa," Quinn mumbled, leading their father inside.

"Mr. Gintuan. Salamat po at nakarating kayo." The principal greeted him as the he and the Gintuan twins sat next to the Madrigals.

"Ah eh, ano po ba ang nangyari patungkol sa kambal ko, principal?? At saka pasensya na po ako lang ang nakarating, 'di daw po makakadalo si misis, may klase pa po kasi siya sa public." Mr. Gintuan apologized humbly, pertaining to his and his wife's positions as public school teachers in Ylando Science High School.

"No worries, Mr. Gintuan." Principal Lilia said. "As for your question about your children's involvement in this issue, let's just please wait a little longer. May isa pa po tayong inaantay na darating."

"Principal Lilia, sayang ang oras." Giit ni Mr. Maccio, mukhang iritado na sa paghihintay. "As a former Castillian, the only reason I accepted your invitation to attend the "Aim High" seminar is simply because I want to give back to my alma mater who shaped the successful man I am today." He said impatiently, throwing in a little arrogance in his statement.

"But as a businessman Principal Lilia, I have only accepted this invite for a limited time. Wala sa agenda ko ang mga ganitong unexpected events so if you would just tell us-"

"Patience, Mr. Maccio." The principal said sharply. "It's one of our academe's core values - I'm sure you know that. Kung talagang proud ka sa pagiging alumni mo, you would have embodied that particular value."

The senator couldn't help but let out a victorious snicker, dahilan para bumilog ang dalawang kamay ng negosyante sa mga kamao.

Rein clenched his jaw, hoping desperately that his father would keep his composure straight as he watched his father's hands ball into fists.

To the young Maccio heir's relief, the door of the conference room bursted open again before his father could react, and the last adult couple that everyone was waiting for, finally entered the room.

"We're sorry for the delay," Mr. Marcuz Cortez announced as he and his wife stepped inside, the atmosphere suddenly becoming heavier and more tense as the kids shifted uncomfortably in their seats.

"Mr. and Mrs. Cortez, you've finally arrived." Sambit ng principal, straightening her back. "Please, settle down."

"Good afternoon, Principal Lilia. We received the call from your secretary about a meeting regarding our children - but I didn't expect it would be a conference with other parents." Mrs. Mariana Cortez frowned, taken aback at the overwhelming amount of people inside the room.

"My apologies for not elaborating. But please, take a seat first and we'll get this matter settled." Principal Lilia gestured as the couple walked towards the long table.

"Alejandro, you're here." Mr. Cortez greeted the senator in surprise - not expecting to meet a colleague in the office of their children's principal.

But before the senator could open his mouth to speak, a loud cry echoed throughout the room.

"WHY ARE MY BOYS IN HANDCUFFS?!"

"THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! THEY ARE MINORS!" The woman fumed, and Mr. Cortez had to grab her by the arm for her to calm down.

"The handcuffs were a last resort, Mrs. Cortez." Principal Lilia explained in a sharp tone. "It was to protect your sons from further harming others and themselves. Especially Mayer-he had lost control over the past hour."

"Now please sit down so we can start."

With his husband hushing her, the two adults then sat down beside their sons, and Principal Lilia let out a heavy breath. She was about to do some major troubleshooting with this particular case.

As an educator, nothing else was more terrifying than a parent's wrath - and these powerful, wealthy people, were already a testament to that.

"Now that we're finally complete, we can now start this conference regarding an issue involving all your children." Principal Lilia stated seriously, clasping her hands together as she eyed each powerful family that was inside the room.

"I'm sure you're all familiar with the Writers' Schism since most of you are alumni, but for those who don't know, the Schism is one of our school's culturally and academically important and prestigious activities. And itt has been discovered, dear parents, that your children has been part of the Writers' Schism case - one way or another." The principal cleared her throat. "For context, the Writers' Schism case is an unfortunate issue that have been cursed upon this year's writing contest. It involves a culprit that seems to be sabotaging the works of this year's Writers' Schism participants, by stealing or hacking their novel entry drafts. We have clearly stated that this case will be handled by the O.C.P. - as all school cases are - but your children have disobeyed this rule and had put matters in their own hands, thus endangering their own lives."

"I'm sorry, but can you please elaborate that," Mr. Gintuan interjected with a frown, visibly confused.

"Are you sure about this?! My daughter Annaliese would never involve herself with a Maccio in the first plac-"

"Principal Lilia, hindi po nangingialam sa ganiyang mga contest at pulitiko si Sera!"

"What are you implying?? Is Jarrell in trouble?"

"I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding-hindi sumasawsaw sa ganiyang mga issue si Rein."

"Ano pong kinalaman ni Tyra dito, principal Lilia?"

"Parents, please, if you'd allow me to first explain-" The principal pleaded as the parents continued rambling on, with the children glancing bleakly to one another and sinking into their seats.

"And what does that have to do with my sons in handcuffs?!" Mrs. Cortez demanded, hitting the table with one firm palm that was enough to silence everyone else in the room.

The principal pursed her lips as she stared down at the woman.

"Mrs. Cortez," The principal said dryly. "Your sons are the culprits behind the Writers' Schism case."

A series of gasps emerged from the adults, and Ann couldn't help but slightly roll her eyes. Ylando City was a small city, but oh - was it inhabited by the most chaotic and loud-mouthed citizens to have ever existed.

"Sila ba ang gumawa nito sa mukha ng anak ko?!" Attorney Gracielle Lobris demanded, gesturing to the cut jn her daughter's face.

"What on earth are you talking about?! OUR SONS ARE NOT THIEVES!" This time, it was Mr. Cortez's voice that thundered as he slammed down a fist on the table to make a point. "They will never in any circumstance do so-scoffs-I mean, it's absurd! Why would they when they are very much financially blessed?!"

"Mr. and Mrs. Cortez, these are the evidences found in the dormitory room of your sons." The principal replied haughtily, gesturing to the pile of flash drives, draft of papers, journals and note pads laid down on the table - the very pile that Professor Wyanna was studying earlier.

"If you're confused as to what they are, these are the stolen novel entry drafts of the other Writers' Schism participants." The principal explained. "Furthermore, the kids also found not just evidence - but a person to testify against your sons." Sambit nito, and with one graceful movement of her hand, the principal gestured towards the silent Tyra.

"Ms. Tyra Galvino here claims that your son Mayer, has forced her to do their biddings - threatening to expose sexually graphic photos of her if she would decline or report them to us." The principal continued grimly, handing Tyra's burner phone first to Tyra's parents who seemed confounded by the news.

"O-Oh my God..." Mrs. Galvino cried out, covering her mouth with one hand before glancing to her daughter who was shaking beside her, reaching out for her hand.

"What are the consequences for this?? Nakaka-trauma ito para sa anak namin!" Mr. Galvino demanded, his eyes piercing right towards the Cortez family who wavered at his gaze.

"We will get there, Mr. Galvino. As for now, Mr. and Mrs. Cortez, you should know that what your sons have done is a very serious matter." Seryosong sambit ng principal as Professor Wyanna then passed the burner phone from Mr. And Mrs. Galvino to Mr. and Mrs. Cortez who looked at the conversations with gaping mouths and shaking hands.

"Your sons have not only stole other students' personal property, and threatened their colleagues, but they had also hacked, bribed and hurt their other fellow students - and on top of that, sabotaged a prestigious school activity in the process of it." Principal Lilia grimaced. "Hindi ito trial sa korte, at kailanman ay hindi ipapasa ng Castillo High ang kasong ito sa korte lalo na't minors ang inyong dalawang anak. Ngunit wala na kaming magagawa kung mismong ang mga magulang ng mga anak na naagrabyado ng kambal ninyo, ang magsasampa ng kaso."

"Oh my God." Wala nang nagawa si Mrs. Cortez as she weakly sank further into her seat - her two sons turning their heads away from her.

"To everyone else in this room, ako na mismo ang humihingi ng tawad sa lahat nang nangyari. This has been carelessness on the part of the Writers' Schism board for not prioritizing the case to the point that your sons and daughters were forced to do an investigation of their own. We assure you, this will not happen again."

"But this can't be." Mr. Cortez muttered, shaking his head before placing the burner phone back on the table. "Ano namang makukuha ng mga anak ko sa lahat ng ito? Maybe they were sabotaged?? I demand further investigation in this matter!"

"By all means Mr. Cortez, our O.C.P. will be doing a reexamination of this whole case." The principal responded. "But as for now, your sons are the culprits, whether anyone likes it or not." She then gestured to Ann, whose face had now been patched up by Nurse Florence earlier before the conference even started.

"Annaliese Lobris and Rein Maccio's faces are enough evidence of the physical harassment your sons have done when the the former had discovered the evidence inside your twins' dormitory room. Seraphim Madrigal and Jarrell Marquez's bruises in their hands and legs are further evidence as wel-"

"Principal Lilia." Ann interjected firmly, hands planted on the table as she stood from her seat like a lawyer objecting in court.

"Annaliese, wag ka nang makigulo." Saway ng kaniyang ama, but Ann shrugged off her father's arm on her shoulder.

"If Mr. and Mrs. Cortez aren't satisfied with the evidences we've presented, then maybe our last proof will." The young girl said in a determined tone.

"Annaliese!" Her mother exclaimed in disbelief as Ann ignored her parents and turned to Sera who nodded, bringing out her phone.

"While Ann, Rein, Jarrell and I were taken hostage by Mayer and Milo, I had left the recording on my phone still turned on. So lahat po ng sinabi sa'min ng kambal, ay maririnig dito." Sera said quietly as she opened her phone and played the recording for everyone to hear as she and Ann sat down once again.

"Mhhmafskgercgrlescmmhm?" Sera's mumbles could be hear from the phone as some of the parents stood up from their seats to further hear the recording up close.

"Ano ulit yun, babe?" Mayer asked mockingly. To everyone's surprise, a spitting sound was suddenly heard.

"Babe mo mukha mo." Sera snarked in disgust. "Pagkatapos mong ligawan si Ann?!"

"Ah, rumors did say you were feisty in bed." Mayer muttered dangerously. "I didn't know you were feisty in real life too."

Sera's mother let out a disgusted gasp, at agad namang itinanggal ni Mr. Madrigal ang kaniyang shades - revealing fiery eyes that were now shooting daggers at the young boys next to them.

"What are the consequences that these boys will be facing?!" Mrs. Madrigal demanded, turning to the principal who raised a hand, signaling the couple to be patient and listen further to the recording.

"Where will you be taking us?" Sera demanded once more, her tone fiercer than any of them have ever heard from her.

"Well that'll be a secret, sweet Seraphim." Mayer responded. "But if you're curious as to what you'll be doing there, then you should know: all's well that ends well. Masyado na kayong maraming alam at ebidensya. You wouldn't think we'd let you go after all this? We gave you multiple warnings, and you didn't heed it. Now my fellow colleagues - it's time you all pay the price."

"All these years, tatlo lang naman ang naglalaban-laban sa posisyon ng pagiging pinaka-mayaman sa buong Ylando City." Mayer's voice could be heard from the recording.

"Ang mga Maccio... Ang mga Lobris... At ang mga Marquez." Sambit ng binata, at maririnig ang isang sampal mula sa recording, making the adults flinch in worry. Jarrell's voice could be heard groaning out in pain from Sera's phone, causing the mayor to stand up in rage - his chair screeching as it scratched the floor.

"How dare you hurt a Marquez." He said darkly, making the twins cower and Jarrell trying to make his father sit down again. "Pwede ko na kayong kasuhan ngayon din."

"Paulit-ulit na doon lang umiikot. Maccio, Lobris, Marquez - Maccio, Lobris, Marquez. Guess where our family is? Yeah, that's right... Number four - always consistently on the fourth spot, never even making it at the third."

"And so?" Ann asked weakly. "Anong kinalaman niyan sa Writers' Schism?"

"We aren't just lagging behind in terms of wealth, you pathetic little thing. Here in Castillo High, you and Maccio have always reigned the academe ever since our freshman years. You didn't even give us a chance. Never mind Jarrell - he wasn't much of an academic competition anyway-"

"But you and Rein. God. Always competing for that top spot - and always leaving us lagging behind the both of you." For a moment, saglit na nagkatinginan ang negosyante at ang senator at the sound of the Lobris and Maccio rivalry.

"Our father has constantly berated us for it - for not being able to outshine the two of you." This time, it was Milo who spoke; with the same bitterness in his tone as Mayer's. "Kami ang sinisisi niya sa lahat ng bagay. He'll tell us that we aren't doing enough to bring the Cortez name to glory, not doing enough to make our family known."

"This is a serious matter. I can press hostage and physical harassment charges against your sons." Attorney Gabrielle Lobris told the Cortez couple in an icy tone, placing a protective hand on Ann's shoulder.

"It's a good thing then, that my daughter rejected our supposed arrangement of her marrying your despicable son." The senator spat out in rage.

"Alejandro, please-" Mr. Cortez begged, stammering.

"Goodbye Marcuz. It was not nice making business ties with you." Senator Lobris cut him off angrily, the man flinching in despair.

"I see." Mr. Maccio on the other hand, nodded sternly as the recording continued. "Everyone really is inferior to you once you're on top." The businessman clicked his tongue in disappointment.

"I'm sure we can all talk this throug-"

"Sorry Marcuz. But I'm afraid I'd have to pull your stocks out of my company." Mr. Maccio said grimly, prompting Mrs. Cortez buried her face into her hands.

"He said I was too quiet as a kid... To silent to stand out and be acknowledged by our professors. Ano pa ba daw pag nagtrabaho na 'ko bilang journalist sa Bulletin?"

"As for me, he said I was a bad writer." Mayer grimaced. "That despite years of training under his wing - I was showing no signs of being as great as a writer as he is."

"He keep blaming us for his own shit, eh siya nga 'tong ginagastos lahat ng pera ng pamilya sa Cortezinc na yan."

"Cortezinc??"

"An printing ink that he's been developing and perfecting for four years now, in the hopes to sell a formula that would pioneer the Bulletin to even more success." Mayer grumbled inwardly, causing the Mayor's expression to snap his head back at the Cortez family - a realization dawning upon him.

"Dahan-dahan, Mayer." Milo snapped at his twin in suspicion. "That's not something you should be blurting out loud-"

"It won't matter now, Milo." Mayer retorted in response. "They'll be dead anyways."

"The point is Lobris, we were always compared to others - but most especially to you both. And this year, we've decided that all of that bullshit, ends right here."

"The Writers' Schism was the perfect avenue for us twins to show our parents that what you two can do - we can do better."

"Ah, so ito pala ang nirereport sa'kin ng mga mangingisda sa Atramento na wala na daw makikitang pusit sa dagat." The mayor muttered, tapping his fingers impatiently on the table. "You have been illegally fishing sea creatures without proper consent - you greedy, selfish-!" Galit na sigaw ng mayor before pausing when Jarrell immediately stood up to calm his father down.

"If it helps mayor, I found the Cortez lab in Netherthorne forest." Queenie spoke out quietly, everyone's surprise.

"Lab??"

"Kung s'an po nila ginagawa yung ink gamit ang mga pusit na ilegal nilang sinisisid sa Atramento. Pwede ko po kayong dalhin d'on."

"Why you nosy, little girl-" Mr. Cortez fumed, storming towards Queenie. But before he could grab the young girl, Officer Keano, Mayor Marquez, and Mr. Gintuan himself, had blocked his path.

"Sa tingin mo ba talagang hahayaan kong saktan mo ang anak ko??" Giit ni Mr. Gintuan, grabbing the man by his collar.

He and Quinn were trying to stop their fathers from pouncing on Mr. Cortez who was now flailing his arms, trying to free himself from Officer Keano's grasp.

But the mayor merely ignored his son.

"I will see you in court, Cortez. Mark my words I will get the best lawyer in town and make sure you get the sentence you deserve." The mayor threatened in a low tone, with Jarrell trying to hold him back.

"You're already seated next to the best lawyer in the city, Jerome." Attorney Gabrielle remarked confidently from her seat. "I'd gladly take up your case if it meant seeing Marcuz get a taste of his own medicine."

"Music to my ears, Elle-"

"Parents, parents-settle down muna tayo-"

"Imprison and crucify us all you want!" Mayer suddenly interjected in a bitter tone, not daring to meet anyone's sharp and accusing gaze. "But it doesn't change the fact that your children defied you and violated a number of school crimes."

With one last struck of his ego, he then glanced up with fiery eyes. "'Yang mga anak niyo na 'yan? Hipokrito 'yang mga 'yan."

"Anong sabi m-?!"

"Nagkukunwaring perpekto at mababait, but they've been sneaking out at night to meet each other and plan their investigations! They aren't any more different to us-"

"Do not twist the situation." Rein snapped angrily, standing up unconsciously. "Mas malala ba 'yung pagkikita-kita na ginagawa namin kaysa sa ginawa niyong pagnakakaw, pagbabanta-"

"Oh Rein, you're just trying to cut me off to stop me from telling everyone in this room that you and Ann are PARTNERS for the Writers' Schism." Mayer snarled at him.

There was a soft gasp that echoed throughout the room.

Mayer's angry expression now faded into a victorious smirk as he nodded slowly, piercing his gaze at Rein whose hands had balled into fists. Ann immediately clenched her jaw.

It was time for her to intervene.

"Yes that's right." Mayer muttered. "Reagan Iñigo Maccio and little miss perfect Annaliese Gracielle Beltran Lobris are partners for the Writers' Schism. I bet my life that you didn't know that, did you Mr. Maccio? How about you senator Lobris? Hmm?? Attorney...?"

"It was my idea." Ann snapped quickly, standing up once more and glancing at Rein who had "what are you doing?!" written all over his face.

"Lonris, say out of this. Wala pong kinalaman si Ann." Rein announced, shaking his head once as if telling his rival to shut up - he can handle it. But Ann was just as stubborn as he was.

"I was the one who asked him to be my partner, so if there's anyone who should be responsible for that particular issue, ako 'yon."

"Professor Zaldiga, would you kindly give the senator a glass of water."

"I'm sorry dad." Ann grimaced, but still holding down her ground.

"Well it doesn't matter now." Mr. Maccio said grimly, much to the surprise of the senator who immediately sat upright.

"It doesn't MATTER?! Are you out of yo-"

"Mr. Maccio is right, senator Lobris." The principal said dryly. "Uunahin niyo pa ba talaga ang walang-kwentang pag-aaway sa pagitan ng mga pamilya niyo sa halip na tutukan ang kaso ng mga Cortez? Whether or not Ann and Rein were partners for the Schism, isn't the point of today's conference."

"W-Well-" The senator stammered.

The woman sighed. "What we need to focus now is the consequences that the Cortez twins will be facing." Principal Lilia said grimly, before turning to the Cortez family being restrained by Officer Keano.

"Mr. and Mrs. Cortez, like I've said earlier, Castillo High will not be taking this issue to court. Talagang ang magiging problema niyo nalang ay kung kakasuhan kayo ng mga magulang na kasama niyo rito sa kwarto ngayon." She said sharply.

"However," pahabol nito. "Because your sons have caused serious damage to a very important and prestigious century-old school activity, committed thievery, and harmed their fellow students in its process - I'm sorry to say but I have no other choice but to expel them." Principal Lilia said in disappointment, at agad na namutla ang buong pamilyang Cortez.

"Your sons have violated numerous grave offenses SIMULTANEOUSLY. And for that, this expulsion would also mean that we would be recommending your sons to be blacklisted from entering other schools and universities."

"You have damned our family." Mr. Cortez mumbled quietly to his sons as his wife wailed on.

"YOU WIRED US TO DO THIS!" The young man shouted uncontrollably, grabbing his father by the collar. "TAPOS NGAYON KAMI ANG SISISIHIN MO?!"

"You have damned us all." Mr. Cortez merely shook his head as Professor Zaldiga and Officer Keano tried to separate the father and son duo.

"Professor Zaldiga, please escort the Cortez family to your office. Ikaw na ang bahala sa expulsion nila. Officer Keano, pakisamahan si Professor Zaldiga. Ensure to keep the boys in check. Salamat." The professor instructed, and the two men immediately led the hysterical family out of the conference room, with Mrs. Cortez experiencing a severe breakdown.

Principal Lilia let out a heavy, exasperated sigh before composing herself once more and turning to the Galvino family.

"Mr. and Mrs. Galvino, pwede na rin po kayong umalis kasama si Tyra. She will not be facing any charges despite her participation, as she was clearly merely exploited into the situation." The principal told the couple, placing a comforting hand on Tyra who was hugging her mother in silent tears.

"Diyos ko, salamat po." Mr. Galvino sighed in relief at the news.

"Mr. and Mrs. Galvino, if Tyra needs counseling, lumapit lang ho kayo kay Professor Jazzy Lorenzo, ang guidance counselor ng mga bata." The principal advised before turning to their daughter.

"Tyra, never be afraid to go through therapy after that traumatic experience. Okay?"

"Salamat, Principal Lilia." Tyra's mother said gratefully to the principal, holding Principal Lilia's hand. Saying their goodbyes and last minute thanks, they then too left the conference room.

With a sigh, the principal then went back to her seat and returned her gaze to the six families who were looking at her expectantly.

"And as for you six..." The principal frowned. "You clearly have broken the school rule about curfews, which is still a violation of course, but not a grave one I suppose."

"Will you be expelling us too?" Queenie asked nervously, holding her father's hand tightly.

"Of course not!" Principal Lilia exclaimed in surprise. "Kayo ang naagrabyado - bakit ko kayo ieexpel? In fact, I want to apologize again to all of you for this... mess. I should've oversaw the case myself as soon as the Writers' Schism board had reported it to me. Hindi ko inakalang magiging ganito kalaki at kalala ang kaso." The principal sighed, massaging her temples.

"I would like to extend my apologies to all of you too, dear students and parents." Professor Wyanna spoke up humbly with a sigh. "Inaamin ko pong nagkulang ang board sa pag-asikaso ng kasong ito, kaya siya lumala ng ganito."

"But I assure you all," the director for the Writers' Schism said firmly. "This will be the first and last Writers' Schism mishap - I'll make sure of it."

Principal Lilia nodded in agreement before clasping her hands together once more.

"I do however... have a proposal." The principal smiled mysteriously, catching the attention of the group before her.

"Because of your bravery and passion to search for the truth, I've just realized that... I don't want to throw all that potential away." She said vaguely.

"And so, this isn't a thought I've finalized yet, but I was thinking of forming an official school organization that would be the apprentices of the Official Castillian Police. Like an inquisitorial group, or the campus sleuths - we'll see what official name we'll come up with." Sambit nito, with the six teenagers' expressions immediately lighting up in surprise as they glanced at one another.

"Will the six of you be interested in joini-"

"I'm sorry principal, but I don't think I'll be allowing my daughter to be further involved with dangerous cases." The senator snapped, causing Ann's eager expression to fade into a look of dismay. Napatango naman ang ina ng dalaga.

"I agree. Our daughter has been through a lot because of this case alone. Look at her face!" The attorney said in disgust. "Besides, we don't want Ann to be associated further with any Maccio." She added grimly, side-eying the father and son duo beside them.

"As if I want my son prancing around the campus with your daughter." Mr. Maccio scoffed in response.

"Principal Lilia, I'd have to say the same about Jarrell." The mayor chimed in. "As much as possible, I want him to stay out of trouble. Heaven knows what'll happen kung mismong ang kakulitan na ang lumapit sa kaniya."

"I agree with the others." Savannah Madrigal nodded, much to Sera's disappointment.

"I agree as well." Tango ni Stephen Madrigal. "Our daughter Sera already has enough work on her plate as a student council officer and a part-time model. I'm not sure being a detective is part of her interests either..."

"Mas mabuti nalang po na mag-focus sa pag-aaral ang mga bata, principal." Dagdag naman ng tatay nina Quinn at Queenie at nawala rin ang ngiti ng mag-kambal.

"That is unfortunate." Malungkot at nanghihinayang na sagot ng principal. "Well then, if we have nothing else left to discuss, then I shall escort you all-"

"Professor," Ann interjected, clearing her throat and politely raising her hand.

"Yes, Ann?"

With a heavy breath, she then stood up once more.

"My parents may have declined, but I on the other hand is actually quite interested in your proposal." Determinadong sambit ng dalaga, causing the adults to groan and react violently.

"Annaliese I've had enough of you-"

"Dad please." The young girl cried out in exasperation, silencing the group. "Buong buhay ko wala na akong ginawa kundi sundin lahat ng gusto ninyo. Bawat kilos, bawat desisyon - everything was in favor for the two of you. Wala na akong ginawa kundi mabuhay para sa pamilyang ito, when I should have been living life for myself. I have been perfect my entire life for this family and so for once, just this once - can you please just let me have this?!"

"I too, am interested." Seryosong sambit ng binata. He then glanced towards his rival who was looking at him in disbelief. The young man shrugged before smirking. "Besides, I can't let Lobris have all the fun."

"I guess our kids have something in common, Alejandro." Mr. Maccio muttered as he adjusted the cuffs of his sleeves. "They're both stubborn," He said dryly, making the senator massage his temples once more.

He said meekly as the mayor sighed, used to his son following Rein in everything.

"Like I said Jerome, young boys will always search for trouble." The businessman chimed in once more, prompting the mayor to scoff out loud.

Sera then stood up with a knowing smile on her lips. "Same here, Principal Lilia. In fact, contrary to what my father has said, I actually like sleuthing around and poking myself in other people's business." She shrugged, causing her parents to gape at her in horror. "Does that count as part of my application for this so-called organization, principal?" Sera asked playfully, ignoring her mother and father.

"Sorry Pa, huwag kang ma-sstress." Quinn apologized to their father as he and Queenie stood up from their seats as well. "Pramis, mag-aaral pa rin kami ng mabuti."

"Saka Pa, kailangan nila kami. They won't survive without the Gintuan twins." Queenie grinned. "Besides, they'll be needing an amateur forensics team and I think we're the right person for the job, noh Quinn?" She asked playgully, nudging her twin brother which prompted the others to laugh.

"Tama ka diyan, kapatid." Ngisi ng binata sabay akbay sa kaniyang kambal.

"Well I guess your children have made their decision." The principal smiled fondly, prompting a negative reaction from the parents who soon started speaking and complaining all at once again.

Despite this chaos, Principal Lilia could only focus her attention at the teenagers who stood together.

There was a hint of pride in her expression as she studied the six students glancing knowingly at one another amidst their parents' objections - six, young, brilliant students who couldn't believe they had just conducted an act of defiance against their parents.

They didn't know it yet at that time, but their rebellious act would soon be the stepping stone in changing the game, and defining the future of Castillo High.
