||Mahi ve [My beloved]||
تم تو دراصل سانسوں کا ساز ہو
دل مے میرے چھپا ہے جو وہ راز ہو
کل بھی میرا تمہی ہو
میرا آج ہو
Tum to darasal sanson ka saaz ho
Dil me mere chupa h jo wohi raaz ho
Kal bhi mera tumhi ho
Mera aaj ho

Mahi was carefully observing Fahad as he roamed around the room to get ready for the day. She was nervous, more than that, she was contemplating everything but even that was proving hard. She had to tell him, it wasn't something that should be hidden from Fahad.
"Fahad," she called making him hum im response. Still engrossed in his work.
"You're going somewhere?"
"Yes."
"Can you not go please?" She asked in a low voice making him turn towards her with a frown.
"Why?" He asked making her look down at her trembling hands.
"I wanted to tell you something." She said.
"Mahi I have to go now, if it's important then tell me now." He said and his urgency was clear in his voice.
"Fahad, can you not wait for sometime? It's important please." Only she knew how much effort it took her to speak these words. She knew he was busy mostly with factory's work and now with wedding ones but right now what she had to tell had more importance. For her at least.
"Is everything alright?" Fahad was concerned now.
"Everything is fine. Can you please sit." She said calmly making him look at her with uncertainty but still sat beside her. She immediately put her head on his shoulder and hold his hand in her cold ones.
"Fahad I am pregnant." She whispered.
Silence.
It was only their mingled breaths that could be heard in the silence. Even the early birds had stopped for a while, as if giving them time to comprehend and feel.
"Mahi..." It was a mere whisper, as if Fahad was trying to prove that she was actually beside him, and whatever she had said wasn't a dream. Mahi's hold on his hand tightened as if assuring him that all of this indeed was reality.
"I took a test few days back, came positive. Doctor's report confirmed everything. Fahad I am really pregnant...we are having a baby." Mahi's voice broke at the end. Fahad didn't need to see, he knew she was crying and so was he.
"Allhamdulillah." Fahad spoke closing his eyes, letting tears flow out.
"I am so grateful for having you in my life Mahi, you have given me everything I could ever dream of. You're a blessing from Allah and even if I don't say this Mahi, I am nothing without you...all my life I thought I had everything but when you entered my life I came to know what I didn't have. I love you with all my heart Mahi." Fahad's voice quivered as he spoke. It was maybe for the first time he had vocalised everything he felt so clearly. And it felt so right.
He didn't wipe his tears that were still flowing. But he did wipe her tears and then he had kissed her head with all the love he had. The world maybe hadn't stopped for others but it did stop for them and they wished with all their might to just stop everything and have each other wholly to themselves.
"You have to be more careful now Mahi, no heavy work and no more running around the house. I will tell ammi to keep an eye on you. You have to take care of yourself first. Okay." Fahad said softly making her nod her head. He smiled at her.
Mahi had always thanked her lord for giving him to her. It always felt like she had everything when she had him with her and this new addition to their life had filled every void. As if completing them.
"I will take care, but Fahad can we not tell everyone about this now...except for ammi." Mahi said making Fahad nod, understanding her point.
"For now, you have to take rest okay, last night must have tired you and please be careful in the whole wedding chaos." Fahad spoke.
"Don't worry." She said making him smile and again kiss her head.

Zeeshan could hear laughter as he walked towards the backyard where his cousins were, probably making fun of him. Those devil's spawn. He had yet to teach them a lesson for messing up with him and he knew whose idea it could be. The leader of the pack, Ahad...boy he was in trouble now.
"Done making fun of me?" He said as soon as he reached them. They were sitting on the mattresses that were set up last night and not only the devious ones were here but also his two best friends.
"With due respect Zeeshan bhai, but what you did is worth making fun of." Ahad said suppressing his laugh.
"And care to explain what I did?" He asked folding his hand on his chest.
"Zeeshan why are you giving them more reason to make fun of you. We all know that you were crying like a child because we ignored you." It was Farha this time and poor him couldn't even say anything to his sister.
"Aapi you too?"
"Yes me too." Farha sure was having fun.
"I can't believe this, Armaan you did all this? You were supposed to be on my team." Zeeshan whined and slumped down.
"Well here you are wrong, I am in these people's team here." Armaan said making everyone laugh.
"And you decided to even participate in their pranks right?" Zeeshan asked frowning making Armaan nod again.
"And what's your view Mister?" Zeeshan turned towards Ehteshaam who too smiled like a cheshire cat. Talk about betrayal.
"Wait for your turns, you two specially." Zeeshan said pointing his finger towards Ehteshaam and Armaan.
"Zeeshan bhai I think Armaan bhai's time will come sooner than you think." Ahad said smirking.
"What do you mean?" Armaan asked raising his brows. Ahad smiled knowingly. Oh he liked how this was going.
"I mean after Zee bhai it's obviously your turn, right Saman?" Ahad's sudden question surprised Saman but she nodded nevertheless. How would she know that? Stupid Ahad.
Armaan wasn't an idiot, he knew there was more to what Ahad was saying. Everyone else hadn't paid much attention to it and had laughed so Armaan too ignored it.
_____________
"I still can't believe it was Armaan bhai's idea." Saman said as she was putting her earrings on. They were getting ready for the mehndi function and also discussing yesterday's events.
"Yeah, me too I thought it must be Ahad bhai, but then he wouldn't be able to convince elders too." Sara added making Saman nod even though it was still hard for her to digest that Armaan had this side to him.
"It was fun though, Zeeshan bhai's face was such a sight to see." Mansha added.
"Done everyone, let's go before the elders get angry." Nadia spoke after a few minutes. The girls did last minute touch ups and headed out together, like the divas they were. As they entered the backside where the guests were already present it felt like a spotlight was casted to them and they walked slowly towards the stage with glamour but they only wished it had actually happened. Nobody even payed noticed them entering as the whole attention was towards the bride that was walking infront of them, rightfully so.
Noor looked ethereal in her dark green dress, as if the colour was made for her. She was made to sit at the same place, like last night. A small rasm in which the elders sister had to put some amount of mehndi on the bride's hand was to happen and Farha was way too happy to do that. Even though she was teased by some ladies that she should play the role of nand right now, to which she had said that it was more important for her to be Noor's sister than her idiot brother's sister.
Zeeshan did hear what his sister said as he wasn't far from the whole setting, and to say he was unfortunate would be an understatement right now. Not because his sister betrayed him, because he was getting endless teasing from the ladies there as well as from his so called cousins. But deep down he was enjoying the attention.
"Stop it guys, aren't y'all satisfied yet?" He whined.
"Nope, you think we are done? It's not enough Zee boy." Ehteshaam added making the others laugh.
"Janab ko shadi bhi karni hai, janab ko mazak bardasht bhi nahi karna. Ye kya bhaat hui janab?" [Sir wants to get married and sir doesn't want to be teased. What is this behavior sir? ] Armaan said earning a glare from Zeeshan.
"Waise Armaan bhai lagta hai apko bhi shadi karni hai. Sham bhai dressing to check karein Armaan bhai ki, kurta shalwar uspe ye shawl. Ma sha Allah.. Ma sha Allah. Lagta hai kisi ko impress karna hai." [ Armaan bhai it seems like you also want to get hitched. Sham bhai check his dressing. This kurta, shalwar and this shawl, it seems like he is trying to impress someone.] Ahad said wriggling his brows. Armaan raised his brows at this and looked at Ahad as if asking his intentions only for him to smile like an innocent child.
"Baat to Ahad sahi ki tumne. So Armaan, who are you trying to impress?" [ You're right Ahad.]Zeeshan grinned at him making Armaan scowl.
"It's my sister's wedding, I had to dress well." His futile attempt to shrug it off worked well for Zeeshan and Ehteshaam but Master mind Ahad wasn't buying it. But he didn't say anything more, he had such evil plans that didn't need to be executed in public. Oh he was so liking it.
______________
Mehndi function wasn't as buzzing as the haldi one. There weren't much people beside the members and close relatives so everything wrapped up quite early. Most of the elders had got done with their henna while the girls had now started getting their hands painted in beautiful pattern. They knew it was going to take long so all of them had changed into comfortable clothings.
Henna artists were doing their work pretty fast but the number of people too was quite a lot, so Saman could only get a chance at the very end. She was thankful for that at least her henna won't ruin in hurry. But seemed like her cousins weren't in that favor as every now and then one of them would push her, though unknowingly. Their habit of laughing with their whole freaking body was proving to be a hazard to her mehndi. And Saman could never take a chance with that, she loved henna and she would rather leave the fun than ruin her mehndi. So she was now sitting far away from her wild cousins.
"Saman you are missing a lot!" Ahad called in between his laugh.
"Y'all will ruin my mehndi." She shouted back.
"It's not your wedding's mehndi Saman, leave it." Ahad replied making everyone laugh at her expense. She frowned and looked away.
By the time the henna artist got done with her henna and left most of the people had vacated the backyard and only Ahad, Sara and Nadia were there. She stretched her hands and groaned. Continuous sitting was way more tough than she had imagined. She could feel spasm in her legs and so when she tried to get up a big disaster happened. She heard her cloth being ripped from her left side as somehow she had stepped on it.
"Shit!" Saman whispered and closed her eyes as cool wind tickled her bare skin from where the cloth was torn. She couldn't even do anything as her henna was still wet.
Panicked, she opened her eyes and tried to find any of her sisters around but before that she felt a shawl being wrapped around her from behind. Saman's breathe hitched as she felt someone's presence just behind her, someone who had just concealed her effortlessly. She tilted her head to look at that someone only to find him looking in another direction, but feeling her gaze on him he turned towards her.
"Go." He whispered, as if it took all his effort to utter those words. Saman was still looking at him as he came forward and stood in front of her, hiding her from the eyes of people around. And Saman had stille looked at him as she walked away with hurried steps but there was something in those looks that was never there before.
Saman didn't stop in her way to her room, she rather walked as fast as she could. Her mind and was hazed and her heart was beating as loud as a drum. She felt herself trembling a little, as if pushed in ice but her insides weren't cold, far from it. The warmth that had filled her was beyond any measure, something so different and so new. Something that wasn't there before.
Fortunately Saman didn't encounter any person on her way to her room and she was so grateful for that. She couldn't risk anyone seeing her like this, wrapped in Armaan's shawl. Taking a deep breath of relief she sat on the edge of her bed and closed her eyes. Whatever had happened flashed in her mind and she felt her cheeks burning. It should have been an embarrassing moment but what it turned out to be wad far from embarrassing. She couldn't even remove the shawl so she sat there, like a statue, staring out of the window.
"Saman is that you?" After a long while, as if ages later someone's voice brought her back to reality. She looked away from the window and turned towards the person only to find Sara looking at her with worry.
"Why are you sitting like this and why are you wrapped in this-" Sara stopped as she realised who's shawl it was. Her eyes widened.
"Armaan bhai?" She whispered making Saman's eyes go wide this time. This is what she was fearing.
"What happened Saman?" Sara asked in a low voice.
"Nothing Sara, I somehow managed to rip my cloth from the sides and so I asked Armaan bhai to lend me this. Don't worry." Saman replied hurriedly making Sara nod, even though she was still perplexed.
"You could've asked me or anyone else." Sara said nonchalantly.
"I couldn't find you all. Don't worry it's nothing." Saman spoke avoiding Sara's eyes.
"Sara can you help me please, just remove this shawl. I am really tired and I need sleep." Saman said making Sara nod and then help her.
"You will sleep in this ripped cloth?"
"It's fine, I will change in the morning, my henna's still wet." Saman said and laid down on the bed. Sleep was far from her eyes yet she pretended to fall asleep. And thankfully Sara didn't ask anything again. She left soon, leaving Saman with her jumbled up mind and a certain shawl lying on the couch.
___________
Noor forgot to blink as she watched her reflection in the mirror in Zeeshan's room. She was the same person yet nothing about her was same. She was now married to him, and was now standing in his room and somehow it seemed like she fit here like she was always here. The white jora was standing out in the dark setting of his room. He had promised that the Nikkah's jora would
be white, and he kept his promise. And she would be lying if said it didn't stir her heart wholly.
She looked good in white.
She heard commotion from outside, her cousin's voices as they demanded neg from Zeeshan. She smiled hearing their excited voices. She again observed herself in the mirror and even though nothing was wrong with her attire, she adjusted her dress and pulled the veil over her head nicely. Her makeup was fixed already and she looked beautiful but the nervousness was getting to her.
After a few more minutes she felt the outside go silent and then the door open. He entered and she turned towards him, yet she wasn't looking at him, her eyes were still looking down. She feared that if she would look up everything will disappear.
"Assalamualaikum,Noor." Zeeshan's barely audible voice reached her making her look up at him. Right in his eyes, for the first time.
And then it felt like the world had stopped.
