Ahad observed the person sitting infront of him, a classic example of an idiot. What else could he expect from the good ol' Saman Shah.

“So you are saying, you know what you want but you can't say it because you think he wants that too.” Ahad spoke, looking as confused as he was on his first day of work. “That's good then isn't it?”

"No!”Saman cried. “It's not.”

“Why not?”

“What if he changes his mind and I become a fool infront of him? Do you understand how horrifying it is?”

“Do you know how stupid you sound?”Ahad raised his eyebrows.

“Ahad! Yaar why don't you understand...I am so worried and confused right now!”

“See Saman, the most sane thing to do, in my opinion, is to go and tell him everything.” Ahad spoke calmly.

“But what if—”

“Oh god! Please stop with these what ifs!”

“Please Saman, I beg you please don't overthink when you can't even think normally.”

Saman frowned.

“What do you want me to do then?  Do you want me to go ahead and scream, ‘Mister Armaan Shah, I have romantic feelings for you even if you have hurt me badly before and think of me as an attention seeking bitch!’ “ Saman screamed, getting up from her place. Her breathing was fast and shallow, while her lips were trembling. Red lined eyes like, the setting sun.

“Yes and no.” He spoke with such calmness that could give a complex to the morning sky.

Saman watched him with narrowed eyes.

“Explain.” She whispered, her shoulders slagging as she sat down.

“First of all, why have you started to swear so much?”

“What?”

“You heard me.”Ahad rolled his eyes. “Anyways, I want you to recall what he had said to you. Did it feel like a lie or a joke? What was his demeanor and how did it make you feel?”

“If, by any chance, you feel like he was fooling you or made you uncomfortable, you have to say no. To everything, but, if it is the opposite , I want you to go ahead and not delay. Do you understand?”

Saman took a moment to grasp what he was saying and slowly  nodded. She understood what he was saying. She had been too confused and overwhelmed to come to a conclusion. It was a relief Ahad was there for her,she knew he would always help in pinpointing things for her.

“Thank you Ahad, I really needed to clear my thoughts.”She whispered looking down. Ahad smiled, patting her head with affection.

“You can always come to me and you have to, don't make your weak brain do the thinking part let alone overthinking.”Saman chuckled

____________

The setting sun had raised the buzz in the haveli as people went through last minute preparations. Decoration was done a while ago, just a little work here and there had kept the members and haveli staff busy.

Saman ran her eyes around the haveli from the first floor's banister, and sighed. He wasn't here either.

Feeling her fast heart beats and a subtle twisting in her stomach, she practically ran around the haveli. Searching for him, everywhere and anywhere.

“Zeeshan  bhai!”She spotted Zeeshan near the entrance  talking to someone whose back was to her. Zeeshan glanced at her and frowned seeing her hurried steps and worried face.

“Saman, what's wrong?”He asked when she stopped a step from him. She shook her head, trying to catch her breath.

“Nothing's wrong but have you seen Armaa–” her words got caught up as her eyes landed on the other person. He raised his brows at her, making her already wide eyes widen more.

“Oh, here he is,” Saman said with a nervous laugh. Zeeshan looked confused but didn't say anything.

“Anyways, Armaan get it on your way back okay?” Zeeshan said and left after giving them a nod.

Armaan nodded vaguely as his eyes were trailed on her as she rocked on her feet. She was trying her best to not look at him and that made a small smile form on his face.

“Are you going somewhere?” She asked, finally looking at him.

“Yes, hospital work.” He replied, watching her intently. Her hair was totally out of place, a few strands stuck to her face. She was fidgeting with her dupatta, and also breathing fast. Was she running? Armaan thought but didn't speak it out.

“Did you forget something again?” He asked, knowing her forgetful tendency very well. Saman shook her head.

“Saman, what happened?”He asked calmly.

“You can go, I will talk to you later.”

“Are you sure?”

Saman looked at him briefly, and nodded.

“Go.”she whispered. Armaan didn't want to, not when she was looking at him with stars in her eyes. Perhaps for the first time.

_____________

“Saman beta abhi tak taiyaar nahi hui?” Saman heard Nausheen's voice as she was making her way upstairs. She knew she was late, as she had been helping Noor with her saree and Mahi with her hair.

“Ja rahi hun chachi, apko kuch chahiye tha?” She asked through her smile.

“Han beta, can you call Armaan? Pata nahi kaha reh gaya, he said it was a small work. Party thore der me start hogi aur pata nahi kaha gayab hai yeh nadan ladka. You should get ready too, Bhabi won't like you getting late.”Nausheen spoke in a breath.

“I have to go, remember to call Armaan.”With that Nausheen was gone. Saman sighed, seeing her aunt rant Saman felt herself going breathless instead. She shook her head, taking her phone out, dialed his number, but he didn't pick up.

She could understand Nausheen very well, Armaan was careless sometimes, no scratch that...most of the time.

Deciding to ring after getting ready, she made her way towards her room. She was delayed already and on top of it, had no idea what to wear. Her girls were  out in the garden so asking them was out of option now.  She sighed. The mere thought of choosing a dress was tiring her already.

The first thing she did after reaching her room was opening her closet. The adequate piece of furniture seemed like a mountain to her at the moment. Her eyes raked around the piles of neatly folded clothes, yet even after a whole minute she could not pick one. She groaned, wanting to bang her head on the nearest wall.

“No time for drama, Saman.”Whispering to herself, she closed her eyes and started roaming her hand on the clothes, while she counted to ten. She wanted to cry over her childishness yet at this time this was the only way.

“10,this better be appropriate!”Saman spoke, opening her eyes. A familiar red dress was under her hand.

With a sharp intake of breath she pulled it out, all the while lost in the memory attached to it. It was his choice, he had said that red suits her. Oh it really did! but the thing was, Saman hardly wore red. For him to know that, he had to be observant, and perhaps he was.

An inaudible gasp left her lips at the
realisation. It all made sense now, all those instances where she would be left in confusion by his actions, and all those questions she couldn't get answers of, were now clear. Oh what a fool she was. He had never hidden anything, it was all unveiled, yet she had been blind. Or maybe it was the matter of the right timing.

Now, not only the timing was perfect but the feelings were mutual too.

Saman chuckled, through her tears. He was always hers.

It took her another few minutes to get ready. Once done she glanced at her reflection in the mirror and felt herself getting lost of breath. It was the most beautiful dress she had ever laid her eyes on, or maybe not but she could swear she had never felt this beautiful before.

Feeling shy in herself, Saman looked away and wore her  sandals. The same one he had bought for her. She wanted to laugh at her cliche behavior. Shaking her head she picked her phone and dialed his number.

Saman walked out of her room as the rings went unanswered. She again dialed and this time after a few rings it was picked up.

“Saman?” A sense of euphoria hit her as she heard his voice.

“Hmm.”She nodded, as if he was infront of her.

“What happened? He asked.

“Where are you? Party start hone wali hai.” Saman spoke after calming herself.

“I am leaving now.”

“Okay, come fast.”

“I will–”and the next thing she heard was a deafening sound.

“Armaan!”She screamed, knowing very well what it was.

“Armaan answer me! Armaan–” He didn't speak, the only thing she could hear was some vague noise.

Even before her mind could register anything she had started running.  Her sandals clacked in the silent haveli, the gleeful noises from the garden felt fading as she ran and ran. She felt her vision getting hazy yet she ran, where she knew not. The only thing Saman knew was that she needed to get to him.

“Ahad!”Spotting Ahad near the entrance, Saman yelled.

Ahad was alarmed at the sudden call but when his eyes landed on her he knew something was wrong. She had stopped in her tracks, as if frozen in time. The only movement being her shivering self and shaky eyes.

“Saman! Kya hua?” He asked.

“Ahad...woh..car..Armaan...Ahad Armaan...it crashed–”

“Saman!Calm down.”Ahad held her shoulder, making her stop fumbling.

“Hua kya hai?”

“I..I was talking to Armaan and..and a crash...something crashed Ahad and he wasn't answering. He is not fine Ahad...something happened to him, take me to him now Ahad...he–”

Ahad felt the ground beneath him slipping.

“Where...where is he?”He asked, trying to compose himself.

“He said he had to go to hospital...and he said he was just leaving.” Saman spoke as tears streamed down her face.  Ahad nodded and immediately called the hospital where Armaan worked.

“Hello I..I am Doctor Armaan Shah's family...can I know when he left?”Ahad asked, breathing in between his words.

“Where?” He asked and then after a while the call went off.

“His car met with an accident in the parking lot and he's been taken to the ER.”Saman gasped.

“Take me to him now Ahad!”

“No,stay here I will go and don't tell anyone.”Ahad spoke firmly.

“No! No..no Ahad please Ahad take me with you.” Saman cried holding his arms.

“Saman try to understand–”

“Please I beg you!”

Armaan was getting his arms bandaged when he heard someone call his name, the familiar voice that  was engraved in his heart. He looked up, only to find her glossy eyes watching him as her lips wobbled.

He felt his heart sinking.

“Saman.”He breathed out.

“Armaan bhai! You scared the shit out of us!” Ahad's voice made him  look away

“What actually happened? Saman said she heard a crash.” Ahad spoke, taking a look at his bandaged arm and head.

“A car crashed into mine in the parking lot. I had just entered when it crashed from behind. There's nothing to worry about, just a few scratches here and there.”He was assured yet Ahad was not satisfied with his explanation.

“I see a lot of things to worry about.”Ahad ran his eyes on his injuries. “Wait here, let me get done with the mess first.” With that Ahad left the two on their own.

“Saman, I am fine.”Armaan whispered, seeing the girl still in her spot. She visibly jerked at his voice and looked at him with shaky eyes.

“You are the worst.” Her voice was shaky and laced with rage.Armaan grinned as if she had uttered the most beautiful words ever spoken. Lifting his uninjured arm he held her shivering palm and pulled her to sit beside him.

“I know.” He spoke, making her glare at him.

“Do you even know how I felt when...when I heard that crash? I thought...I...I–”

“Nothing happened to me. Don't think about it now.”He rubbed his thumb on the back of her hand.

“Easy for you to say.”Saman snatched her hand back and looked away.

“Saman–”

“Don't Saman me, how can you be so careless and relaxed? Do you not care for what you make me go through everytime? Do you know what I felt in those moments?”Her tears had finally escaped her eyes and streamed down as she spoke with a quivering voice.

“I thought I lost you...and...and I hadn't even told you that I–*

Armaan felt himself go breathless. She had left her words incomplete yet, he was aware of them. Heck how wouldn't he,when these were what he had always wished to hear.

“That you?”Saman looked away.

“Say it Saman, enough of this hide and seek.”He said, making  her look  back at him. “Please say it.”

Saman peered at him, with such leisure and such ease that made the gale feel jealous. How could something be so candid that it could shame the predetermined course of nature?

“Tell me what you want, Saman.”

“Your car has been sent to–”Ahad stopped seeing the two immersed in eye contact. “Mechanic…”Not wanting to intrude he stepped back and coughed, pretending to come just then. It was a sight to see them act as if caught red handed.

“Ah, yes the car...how's it?”Armaan spoke, looking everywhere but at him.

“Definitely not how it used to be. Hospital staff had sent it for repair and I took care of the rest. They were giving you a heap of medicine but I reminded them of who you are.”Armaan laughed at that.

“Anyways, we can leave now.” Ahad added, making him nod and glance at her from his periphery. He suppressed his smile seeing her nervousness.

“Saman, let's go. I have informed Zee bhai.” Saman nodded and got up while Ahad helped Armaan up on his feet, thankfully he didn't need crutches as Ahad was suggesting.

_______

Needless to say, a havoc broke out as soon as they reached home. First it started with a very panicked and worried Zeeshan waiting for them at the back gate, followed by every single member coming to Armaan's room.

“Ammi don't worry, see I am perfectly fine.” Armaan tried to console his mother, key word being tried. It did not work, instead, he received another dose from both of his parents.

“Dekh rahe hain na aaplog, kaise badtameez hota ja raha hai yeh. Ek din maar ke hi dum lega mujhe!” Nausheen cried. Armaan's eyes widened hearing her.

“Ammi aisa na bolein.” He spoke, taking her hands in his.

“Nahi to kya bolun? Zara bhi khayal hai hamara tumhe?” Nausheen slapped his shoulder. Armaan was shocked to say the least.

“Ammi!”

“Chup ek dum chup.” Armaan concluded it was better to do exactly that.

“Ahad beta what did the doctor say?” She turned towards Ahad who was standing at the foot of the bed with Saman. Both equally amused and concerned.

“I am the doctor.” Armaan butted, earning a well deserved glare from Nausheen.

“Nothing to worry about chachi. There are no fractures, just a few bruises here and there.” Ahad reported like a parrot.

“Wo sab to theek hai, par tum dono.” This time it was Anwar who addressed them. “Why didn't you tell us before leaving?” Ahad glanced at Saman, she shook her head in warning.

“Woh abbu–” Ahad gulped. “I couldn't think fast.” He grimaced at the idiotic excuse.

“Leave the kids now, Nausheen, come , people are waiting downstairs. We can't leave the guest hanging. Let Armaan rest.” Munazza interrupted. Naushsen nodded and after making sure that he was fine, followed the rest out of the room.

“Bro why do you two always throw me under the bus?” Ahad complained as soon as the room was empty.

“Deal with your problems on your own and please leave me alone.” He groaned and left with his dramatics attached.

Armaan shook his head, with a soft smile.

“Do you need something?” Saman asked, making him look at her. She was still nervous, her hands were still playing with the tassels of her red dress– that red dress.

“Bahut khubsurat lag rahi ho.” Her head snapped towards him.

“Red surely is your color.” He whispered, holding her gaze.

“I should go now…badi ammi must be looking for me.” Saman's words were as hurried as she herself. She was by the door even before she completed her sentence.

“Saman, wait.” She stopped but did not look back, knowing what he was going to say.

“Won't you answer me?”He spoke, making her inhale sharply. “What do you want, Saman?”

“Sabkuch.” She turned towards him. If there was any hesitation or reluctance before, it wasn't there now. She watched him with intent. Her steps moved towards him until she was just infront of him.  “Mujhe apni zindagi mein aap chahiye, apse juri har cheez, aapar har haq chahiye. Denge mujhe?"

“Sabkuch?” Armaan's soft voice tickled her heart.

“Sabkuch.”

Armaan smiled. She might not know, but his everything was already hers and she didn't even have to ask.

“Sab tumhara.”
