Chapter Eight: "Satisfied Ms.Bliss?"
Dedicated to my friend EmpressRoseQuartz ! Thank you for the support and for being there for me! 😄😭
I woke up with pans being banged in my ears. I groaned, hoping there's a good reason to be woken up at such a early time. Then I remembered yesterday's event; the date. It's not even a date or even a friend date. Just a classmate meet up. So much for convincing myself.
"Yes, I'm up," rubbing my sleepy eyes.
"Good, now help me choose your outfit," Ely yelled from my walking closest.
I dragged myself to the closest. I'm not sure what happened since I was still half-asleep, not until another set of pans banged themselves into my bleeding ears.
"Alright, since you're now awake. Which dress?" gesturing to my three less favorite dresses.
The blue dress had a simple but simple design which falls a little bit above my knee, was my favorite of the options. The dress wasn't too formal but isn't too casual.
"The blue one,"
"Good choice. It'll bring out your eyes," Ely smiled, motioning me to the bathroom.
"Not really. My eyes are a lighter shade of blue, that dress is navy blue,"
It took me an hour to wash myself. Usually when I'm in the shower I let the water run down my arms so it looked like I'm shooting water out of my fingertips. Is it only me? Every time I shower, I always look over my life, fantasize, or sing. Mostly fantasize, about me kicking some asses and save the school from disaster.
It was eleven by the time I walked out of the bathroom, feeling refreshed and inspired to start a new day. I found my blue dressed laying neatly on my bed. Beside the dress was a butterfly necklace and my least favorite white wear of heels. I stared at the two objects for a good five minutes, trying to think of another replacement.
"Yeah, I'm not wearing those heels or necklace," running to my closet.
Instead of partnering with those white formal heels, I grabbed my black wedges. I changed the butterfly necklace into a black chocker with a dark blue rose attached to it. Lastly pairing the outfit with black pearl earrings.
"Wait! Whoa! I actually getting dressed," surprising myself. "It's just one day right, besides these wedges are comfortable for walking the whole day," giving myself a mini pep talk. After a good thirty minutes, I straightened my hair and only applied mascara for eye makeup.
I could have swear Ely had a look that screamed I-have-been-murdered. After a little while, she nodded in approval, "It totally screams Valerie."
"You actually used my real name," grinning.
"Cheeky are we now?" trying her British accent.
"You know it. Your accent is getting better but it'll never be as cute as mine," I stuck my tongue at her.
"Just get out of the house already!" grabbing my coat and phone then pushing me towards to door. "I'll let your mom know you have a date scheduled today!"
"Just a meeting with a classmate!" I corrected her.
I found myself on my doorstep. Why do I feel like I just been kicked out of the house?
Ding
Matthew: Meet me at the bus station on Morcus Street.
Valerie: I forgot you're only fourteen.
Matthew: Actually I'm thirteen turning fourteen next month.
Valerie: I thought you're in freshmen as a fourteen year old.
Matthew: I'm in the same grade as you!
Valerie: Oh.
Matthew: Hahaha. The bus comes in fifteen minutes.
Morcus Street is only ten minutes away, walking distance.
Ding
Matthew: Actually stay where you are. I know where you live.
Valerie: Stalker much?
Matthew: Just wait three minutes.
I counted up to two-hundred-and-four seconds before a running dickhead came into view. Once he stood in front of me, he took awhile to regain his energy.
"You're late by twenty-four seconds," I smiled, shaking my head in a fake disapproval.
"And I care because. . .?," looking down on me with blue eyes.
I stayed silent, having no comeback. I just kept on fiddling with the ends of my hair trying to avoid Matthew's intense stare at me.
"I see you have no come back for me," bending down at my level.
"What happened to your green eyes?" changing the subject.
"I wear contacts at school. I didn't want any one to suspect I had a step mother since I looked nothing like her. Dad suggested I wore colored contacts. Satisfied Ms.Bliss?"
"You do realize we're going to miss the bus," again changing the subject.
"Changing the topic again," smiling down at me, "It's so Valerie and you're looking real cute in that outfit. I should ask you on another meet up,"
"This will be your first and last meet up. You already broke rule one,"
"What's rule one?"
"No flirting," simply stating the rule.
Ignoring me, he took the opportunity to pick me up bridal style. My body tensed up. Instead of butterflies, my stomach decides to growl.
"Both your stomach and I agree that we should get going and eat. First, are you an otaku?" walking towards the bus stop which will probably take fifteen minutes with me in his arms.
We are defiantly going to have to wait for the next bus. Why the hell am I being carried? Then again, I don't wanna walk.
"An anime freak? Nope," popping the 'p'.
"Do you know there's a new Sword Art Online movie that came out on the ninth of March?" he asked, excitedly.
"I need to watch it. I love Asuna and Kirito!" I should really learn to keep my mouth shut.
I could feel a victory aura coming from Matthew.
"I just confirmed it, didn't I?" frowning.
"That's fine because we're going to watch the new Sword Art Online movie today!"
"You're not pulling any strings are you?" trying to get my hopes up.
"I'm serious. You can't go over five hundred dollars at the mall today since I'm treating you.'
"So you're saying I could buy anything but you budget is five hundred. You're trying to bribe me into doing something aren't you?"
"Nah, you're too cute,"
"That doesn't answer my question,"
Everyone kept on staring at us when we stepped into the bus. I really couldn't care less. After he sat down on an empty seat, I took the opportunity to take the free seat to the right of him, the window seat. It's rare for me to be on a bus. Usually it's a taxi or a private car that picks me up. I enjoyed viewing the neighborhood, but soon my eyes grew tired from looking right and left. Matthew on the other hand fell asleep on my shoulder. It didn't feel uncomfortable but surprisingly comforting. Since the bus was unfamiliar to me, I woke Matthew up. He winced.
"Matthew! Stop drooling on me," slapping his right cheek.
"Bitch, you better have a good reason for waking me up!"
"I swear you have split personalities,"
For the next five minutes he stared at the seat in front of us, half asleep.
"I don't have split personalities. If you judge me before even getting to know me or wake me up, of course I'll get ticked off," referring to the situations I pissed him off, finally awake.
"So when are we getting off?"
"Three more stops before we get off,"
"Alright. When's your birthday?"
"Curious?"
"No. I'm just wondering whose older," sinking into my seat, getting bus sick.
I had a bad feeling and whenever I feel bad, something bad always happened. The last time I felt like this was when mom and dad divorced.
"August 8th. You?" answering my question.
I felt dizzy and it was getting harder to breath. Suddenly I found a pair of arms sneak themselves around me.
"Hold on Valerie," Matthew whispered urgently.
The bus driver must have also been sleepy because before we knew it another truck crashed the bus we rode in.
