Chapter 40. Typical Villain Monologue.

I angrily shove the papers back into my locker for the fifth time, slamming the door in frustration. Gina sighs softly from beside me, starring off at the end of the hallway. I glance down as well, rolling my eyes when I see our star football player Kyle with none other than Keagen. Gina looks half sad, half disgusted with the sight before her. I lean against the locker and leaf through my science homework. I can't help but sigh loudly and shove the papers into my bag, my annoyance levels rising by the second.

"You know, just looking at him won't lead up to much," I muse softly, drawing Gina's attention towards me. She groans and leans back against the lockers with me, a sour expression painted across her face.

"I know but it's all the further I can get, I'm too chicken to do anything about it."

I huff a laugh and reach over to pat her shoulder, "Just go over and say hi, you don't know what'll happen!"

She snorts loudly, "I do know what'll happen, total embarrassment." We both look back down the hall at Kyle who is laughing and smiling widely at something Keagen said, "Besides, he likes Susan Hartly. It's just a matter of time before they're dating." Her shoulders slump in disappointment and she looks away sadly.

I smile softly and throw my arm around her shoulder, "You'll find someone, G, Kyle isn't the only nice guy here."

She looks up at me and smiles weakly, "Yeah, you're right." Her gaze slips back down the hallway. I think hard for a second, mentally scanning all the kids in my classes, then grin widely when I think of him. I quickly bump her slightly to bring her attention back to me. She looks back up and raises a silent eyebrow in question.

"What about Stan?"

She squints in thought then looks up at me with total confusion, "Who?"

I grin excitedly and nod, "Stan, he was at the party. He's super nice!" I pull my phone out of my pocket and show her the picture of my ping pong team. She stares at it for a second then lights up in recognition.

"Oh, Stan, I know him. He's in one of my classes I think, but isn't he supposed to be moving to Wisconsin or something?"

I deflate slightly, my eyes dropping down to the picture somewhat sadly, "Oh," I close out the picture and shove my phone back in my pocket.

"Sarah!"

I look up towards the voice calling me, my mood dropping darkly when I see Keagen making his way down the hall. Gina straightens up quickly and grabs my arm. I hold onto her tightly as we both turn around and basically sprint the other way, almost bumping into other students passing by.

"Sarah, wait up!"

No thanks, I choose life.

"He tried talking to you again?!" Zander fumes beside me, his voice an angry whisper so he doesn't get caught by the teacher.

I nod solemnly, "Yeah," I confirm softly, "I don't know what he expects though."

Zander scoffs a little too loudly, "He's expecting to get his ass kicked, that's what."

"Mr. Mills, is there something you'd like to share since you seem so adamant about talking?" The teacher raises his eyebrow at Zander questioningly. Zander looks to the front of the room and smiles tightly.

"No, Sir."

The teacher nods and points at both of us, "Good, keep it that way." He turns back to the whiteboard and Zander turns back towards me with a devilish smirk.

"I have an idea."

My eyes widen slightly at his evil tone of voice, "Zander . . . What're you planning?"

He grins widely and rubs his hands together, "You'll see." With that, he turns towards the front of class and smirks. I stare at him for a second before turning towards the front too. Soon, the lunch bell is ringing and everyone is rushing out the door, including Zander. I barely get my bag onto my shoulder before I'm running after him and grabbing his hand so I can keep up. He pulls us through the cafeteria, waving to Gina so she'll follow us.

"Zander?" I question in confusion when he pulls us out to the bleachers, Gina joining us soon after with the same confusion. Zander smiles widely and leans forward on his knees. "What's going on?"

He looks between both of us and his smile turns back into the previous evil smirk. "We're going to get him back."

Gina sits up straight immediately, a devilish smile spreading across her cheeks. Oh my gosh, these two are psychos.

"How?"

"I don't know about this, guys." I whisper lowly towards the rows of bookshelves around me. I shift from foot to foot, my hands shaking nervously.

"It'll be alright, Cupcake, I won't let him hurt you." Zander peeks through a stack of books, smiling softly in reassurance.

I nod back and take a deep breath, looking back down the length of shelves as I wait. My phone buzzes in my hand, drawing another deep breath in as I read the text.

He's coming - Gina.

I exhale sharply, and straighten up when I see him round the corner. He smiles at me and walks towards me with his arms out stretched for a hug. I take a step to the side, dodging his hands quickly.

"What do you want, Keagen?" I question darkly, a glare fixed onto my face. He gets the vibe immediately and his smile drops as guilt takes over his features.

"Sarah I -" He reaches out for me again but I slap his hand away angrily, hyper aware of the small space we're in.

"Keagen, we're not friends, we're nothing close at all. Whatever you think is going to happen here, get rid of it. I'm not here to kiss and make up, I want nothing to do with you." I spit out harshly, my arms crossing against my chest almost as if a protective barrier between us.

His eyes darken and he tilts his head as if observing me carefully, "You always were a self-righteous bitch, weren't you?" My eyes widen at the malice in his words. My body going numb in fear and my eyes flickering towards the books then back to his face. He smirks and laughs darkly, then moves forward quickly to pin me to the bookshelf behind me. I squeak in surprise, my hand pushing at his chest to get him off me.

"Get off of me!"

He laughs darkly and stares at me with amusement, "You're lucky you've got a nice set of tits to distract people from your horrid attitude," He thinks for a second then leans so close our faces are almost touching, "And face." He bites out so bitterly I flinch back. He's suddenly ripped off me and shoved to the floor, a very pissed off Zander towering over him menacingly. He looks at me briefly, his eyes softening incredibly. I nod at him, letting him know that I'm alright. He motions towards the end of the hall,

"Go to Gina," He says softly, his eyes switching back towards Keagen who is now rising back off the floor.

Keagen laughs and nods over at me, "That's right, be a good little bitch. Oh and you might wanna find a first aid kit for your friend." He smirks widely at the panic on my face. Zander growls angrily and leaps forward, landing a solid punch onto Keagen's jaw. I turn around and sprint towards the front of the library, my heart almost stopping when I see Samantha and her two friends hovering over a bloodied Gina on the floor. Samantha sends a hard kick to Gina's stomach then turns slightly when she hears my sharp intake of breath. Her lips form into a surprised smile, her friends looking up as well and quickly flanking her sides.

"Nice of you to join us, Sarah." Samantha grins widely and cocks her hip to the side. I glare at her as rage slowly takes over me. Three against one, I won't win, but it's worth a shot. I take a menacing step towards her. She raises an eyebrow and throws her head back to laugh at me. I take the chance and quickly run forward, swinging my fist out to punch her. Skin connects with a loud crack, her head whipping to the side as her hands fly up to cover her now bleeding, and crooked, nose. She stumbles back in surprise and her friends jump to quickly grab my arms, holding me back from her.

She chuckles and wipes her nose, "Now, let's talk this out," She chides softly and straightens up, walking forward and punching me across the face. I groan in pain but push it away quickly, bringing my head back up to spit blood at her.

"I'm done talking," I hiss back, struggling in the hold of her two friends. She glares at me and wipes the spit from her face, her fist flying forward to deliver another punch to my face.

She grabs my chin and gets in my space, venom basically dripping past her lips. "You wanna know why I do this? Why I absolutely hate you?!"

I look up at her with a steady glare of my own and roll my eyes, "Please, spare me the villain monologue, cause quite frankly I couldn't give a shit anymore."

Her eyes widen slightly in surprise before she steels over again and pulls away, punching me in the stomach again. "You bitch," She seethes angrily and punches me again and again. I look up in time to see Gina raising her foot to kick the back of Samantha's leg, catching her off guard and sending her to the floor.

"Hey, jerkwads!" A shout from behind us causes one of the other girls to turn around towards the voice, her grip on my arm lessening. I quickly bring my leg up and shove her off me, using my now free hand to swing around and land a hard uppercut to the other girl. Jenny runs forward and swings at the second girl, occupying her from me. I turn around to face Samantha, my breathing labored. She almost looks scared for a second before running forward and tackling me to the floor. We roll around for control, throwing punches wherever we can. Shouts and running can be heard around us but neither of us stop. I finally gain the upper hand and pin her arms to the floor, using my weight to hold her legs down as well.

"I won't let you control me anymore," I glare down at her harshly, my eyes scanning her face. She stares back up at me with fear in her eyes, her head nodding slightly in understanding. I push away from her and get up, wiping at the blood on my face. She lays there and stares up at me, her eyes not leaving my face even as one of the teachers pulls her up off the floor. She finally turns away as the teachers lead her and her friends out of the room, along with a very bloodied Keagen. Gina runs up to me and grabs my arms in concern, her face beaten up as badly as mine.

"Are you two alright?!" Jenny runs over to us after talking with the principle, her body and face seemingly unscathed by the fight. I can't help the victorious grin spreads across my face.

"I'm perfect." I groan out afterwards, my lip now bleeding even more than before, "Okay, maybe not."

We stare at each other for a second before laughter bubbles out of our chests. I move forward and wrap them both into a hug, whispering my thanks to them. They hug me back tightly, Gina being the first to pull away and look over at the teachers wearily. There's three of them huddled around the main library computer, more than likely watching the security feed of everything that just happened. I startle slightly when a hand touches my shoulder, sighing with relief when I connect the hand with Zander's body. He smiles softly and pulls me into his chest, wrapping his arms around me just right as not to hurt my new bruises. I hold onto him tightly, my eyes starting to water with what I can only hope is happiness.

"We did it, it's over." I whisper into his chest, my face and body aching but it was all worth it. He kisses the top of my head and then pulls away slightly, a smile spreading across his only mildly bruised face.

"Where'd you learn all your moves at, Cupcake?"

I frown in thought for a second then look up to him in all seriousness, "The Avenger's."

He grins and laughs lowly, leaning down to place a gentle, barely there kiss on my lips. He stays close, his forehead leaning on mine as we both reel from all the excitement. He gives me another kiss then leans back, "I love you."

I smile up at him widely and pull him closer, resting my head right over his racing heart. "I love you too."
