Chapter 24
Where did we leave off again? Nevermind, I think I remember now.

No one had a single idea. Even if everyone on the team attacked with their most powerful skill, they still wouldn't be able to stop Behemoth. In heir current condition, more than half of the El Search Party were unable to use their most powerful skills anyway. As for (y/n), he was a little concerned. Sure, he wasn't afraid of death but perhaps now wasn't the best time to die.
He had lots of questions to ask Vapor, a punch in the face that he owed to Vegar for almost killing him, another beat down to be given to Zhu, and a girl that might be a little into him if he wasn't reading things wrong. It was definitely not the right time to die. "I guess we have no choice then," he said with a sigh as he glanced at various people.
Despite some of them sort of hating him at first, everyone on the team seemed concerned for her life and gave looks of worry. "We could try making Behemoth change directions by having an air ship block its way," Ara said. "That won't work. Behemoth with plow right through it," Add said, denying her plan's success without mercy. "We could..." Ara began but this time (y/n) was the one that spoke and cut her off before she said anything more.
"Ara, I'll be alright. I've been nearly killed so many times that I doubt I'd die any time soon...or at least I hope not," (y/n) said in an attempt to reassure her only for his words to backfire. She, as well as several others, seemed rather concerned. "Are you okay? Do we need to postpone this city saving thing and talk?" Ain offered. Everyone gave him a "are you serious right now" look but nothing else was said regarding the sudden disruption.
"I'll do my best to return him in one piece. He still has a promise to keep afterall," Zhu said to Ara. (Y/n) snapped his attention to Zhu wondering when he'd gotten so well acquainted with Ara. "Promise? What promise?!" (y/n) hissied within his mind. Zhu did not answer and turned to face Behemoth without a word.
"Zhu this is not the time to be ignoring me. I might actually die this time. The least you could do is tell me what you know," (y/n) thought in frustration as he followed after Zhu who had began to walk towards the front of the air ship. "We'll do whatever we can to slow him down so do your best and be back before dinner time!" Elsword called. (Y/n) could have sworn he heard someone smack the red head but he could have just been hearing things.
Instead of looking back to be sure, he and Zhu got ready to jump onto Behemoth's back. (Y/n) didn't exactly know how Zhu's plan was going to work but he sure would find out soon enough. Just as before, he and Zhu easily cleared the distance between themselves and Behemoth without any help. Zhu decided to stay in his physical form as the two of them climbed to the top of the beast. "How exactly is this going to work?" (y/n) asked the fox standing next to him.
"I'm going to be the main one doing the souls stealing. As simple as it seems, your job is to retain the excessive energy that I acquire. You have to dispel it at a fast enough rate or else, you die. If I fail to steal Behemoth's soul with it being such a large energy source, I'll die. That means I can't move from wherever spot I choose to stand," Zhu explained.
"So basically I have to get rid of the power as soon as I get it or else I die. While also doing that, I have to protect you," (y/n) concluded. "That's assuming you'll be able to stand. I wouldn't be surprised if your heart stopped as soon as I start stealing Behemoth's soul," Zhu spoke with surprising bluntness. "Harsh but okay. I get it. Go ahead and get this over with," (y/n) muttered.
Zhu gave him a nod and proceeded to find his footing but (y/n) didn't miss that worry Zhu displayed in his emerald eyes. (Y/n) watched carefully up until Zhu began to steal Behemoth's soul. The beast immediately cried out and nearly shook Zhu from his spot with ease. (Y/n) dropped to his knees but not because of Behemoth's sudden movement. He kept a hand secure over his heart as he struggled to catch his breath not knowing he'd lost it.
He definitely had power but it was too much power indeed. "Get rid of it. You don't have time to try recovering," Zhu thought sending (y/n) a look of urgency but (y/n) could do anything under the sheer force of the power he'd acquired. He let out a cry of pain as another rush of energy flowed through him even entering his blood. He had to do something, anything to get rid of the energy.
Out of frustration, he lashed out at Behemoth below him leaving behind a deep scratch mark that glowed with the color of Zhu's eyes. Behemoth's hide was too thick to have even registered the attack but it had gotten rid of some of the energy with ease. Despite that, (y/n) felt himself weakening and another wave of power hit him unexpectedly. Again he scratched at Behemoth in any way that he could, repeating the process several times and yet Zhu was still standing his ground and unmoving.
Behemoth shook again this time throwing (y/n) forward and making Zhu move one of his front paws to keep him standing. "Nearly dead. Just a bit more time," Zhu thought but (y/n)'s mind was clouded over in discomfort. He did not hear Zhu's words since his senses were dulling then sharpening only to repeat the process. It gave him a headache and he remained still in the same spot where he'd been knocked down to.
"(Y/n), get up! You can't die here! You still have to speak with Vapor don't you!" Zhu snapped but his voice still went unheard. Despite that, (y/n) did manage to lift himself up punch his hand down where he stayed. The punch left behind a crater of sorts and (y/n) repeated the action out of anger. Why did this stupid thing have to exist in the first place?! He did finally hear Behemoth's roar of pain but it was cut sort and the entire beast dropped right where he stood, killed once and for all.
"That's it! We did it (y/n)," Zhu spoke and was instantly by (y/n)'s side trying to get him to stand but he couldn't take the stress. "We saved everyone right?" (y/n) weakly asked just before letting himself fall on his face. Zhu rolled him to the side and nudged him, tellung him to get up but the fox's voice went unheard. (Y/n) caught a glimpse of the setting sun, a truly beautiful sight to see in the desert, just before his heart gave out.
