J'ohn was on the Monitor Womb with Flash and they were discussing about whatever came to Wally's mind. But then, an alert went off.
-J'ohn, what was that? Wondered Flash out loud and stood up immediately.
J'ohn checked the computers.
-There's an interplanetary missile entering Earth's atmosphere, he informed him sounding quite shaken.
-Take it out! Wally yelled.
-Too late, J'ohn maintained regaining his calm and sitting back to his chair. "It must have had some sort of clocking device. I wasn't able to detect it until it entered the atmosphere" he said while the missile neared Earth. It was due to land at US.
"I'll put out the distress call", he stated coldly and opened all the communicators.
"Justice League. This is Watchtower. There is a missile inbound for the US Atlantic seaboard. All the available members, please respond immediately"
The first one who responded was the expected one.
-Batman here. On my way.

~Minutes Later~
Batman was flying above the US Atlantic seabord. He turned his communicator on in order to speak with J'ohn. The missile was not tok far from him. He could see it.
-Watchtower, I'm on an intercept course. I have visual contact.
He focused his target on the missile.
"I have missile lock".
He narrowed his lenses.
"This is going to be a close shot to ensure complete destruction."
-Hurry up, Batman, J'ohn urged him.
-Almost there...
3, 2, 1...
Nothing.
-No! Batman practically screamed.
"Watchtower, change of plan. I'm deploying gruppling hooks." He continued having already returned to his cold voice.
-Batman, you must shoot it down! J'ohn shouted at the top of his martian lungs.
-Grappling hooks deployed. Trying to slow it down, reported Batman completely ignoring him.
-Bats, what are you doing? Flash wondered nervously.
-The Plane... is heating up... The engine... is over heated...
Batman struggled to even speak. The sound of flames around him made both J'ohn and Flash chill.
-Batman, shoot it down! Shoot it down before it reaches the coast! Yelled John Stewart who had just arrived in the Monitor Womb and heard Batman's last words. It was not hard for him to understand what was going on.
-Got to slow it down... Batman struggled again and let out a gasp. He could barely breathe.
-Batman, of you down it before it reaches the coast, no lives will be endangered, J'ohn tried to persuade his one last time.
-Grappling hooks failed. My plane is on fire. Engine out. I'm going down, he simply stated while stained with hot sweat.
Then, he saw something in the sky. It was like a red and gold figure with long, dark hair....
