Judging Criteria

I do have a rather... long judging criteria. But that's because it helps me keep my brain from imploding as I fall in love with every short story.

Also, if you wanna help me judge, shoot me a message! I'd love help!

Grammar + Punctuation: -/10

Is the story well-edited? Do you use punctuation marks accurately? Is the paragraphing cohesive?

Fluency + Pacing: -/10

Is there a clear beginning, middle and end? Does it flow seamlessly from paragraph to paragraph? Or does it move like a snail on peanut butter?

Plot + Conflict: -/10

The story itself! Are there plot-holes? Is it compelling? Does it make the reader care?

Characterisation: -/10

Do characters grow as the story progresses? Are they flawed? Do they make sense within the context of the story?

Writing Quality: -/10

Is the writing purposeful and effective? Does the writing evoke emotion and feeling? Is the language far too unnecessarily sophisticated and superfluous? Is the language too basic?

Worldbuilding + Setting: -/10

I'm not asking for a full map and encyclopaedia. Just make sure you ground the reader!

Creativity: -/10

Is this something I've seen before? Because, believe me, I've read a lot of short stories...

Usage of Prompt: -/5

Bonus five points based on how well you used the prompt!

And that's it! Should add up to seventy-five!
