Chapter 25: Enter the Moon Princess (Part 1)
"Your majesty I know we didn't manage to get the rainbow crystals or destroy Tuxedo Mask, but if you give us another chance I know we can," Neo pleaded.
Queen Salem held up her hand, "I no longer wish to see him destroyed. Instead I want you to bring him to me alive. He can become a worthy soldier for me."
Roman looked confused, "but we don't know who he is."
"Maybe you don't," the dark queen said, "but I do. Now listen up. Here are your new orders."
———————————————————————
Meanwhile, Oscar had just returned home from his battle against Neo at the docks. He closed his apartment door and leaned against it.
"How could I be so stupid?" He asked himself as he gripped his injured shoulder, "I fell for a phony Sailor Moon. I should've known it wasn't really her."
He went to his bathroom to grab his first aid kit. He then used a gauze wrap to bandage his wound.
Oscar groaned as he tightened the bandage, "and I almost got the scouts killed. If Sailor Venus hadn't shown up when she did I probably would've handed over my crystals to Neo. Sailor Moon doesn't even know I was there, she probably hates me and thinks I abandoned her."
He went to go sit down and put his head in his hands.
"Well isn't this a cute little place?" A familiar voice spoke into his mind.
Oscar looked around but Neo wasn't there. She was speaking telepathically into his mind from the negaverse.
"Who are you? How did you get in my head?" He asked trying not to let the villainess know who he really was.
"You can drop the act Tuxedo Mask," she laughed, "I'm just here to offer a deal."
"What kind of deal?" Oscar asked.
"Well you're tired of running around trying to find the rainbow crystals yes? So am I. So I propose a little duel. You and me, winner takes all the crystals."
"I don't believe that you'd really do that."
"Oh I assure you I mean it," Neo said, "what don't wanna admit you can't fight without the sailor scouts by your side? Don't wanna admit you're scared of me?"
Oscar scoffed, "I'm not scared of you or anyone from the negaverse. I accept your challenge."
"Good," Neo sent an image of a tower into his mind, "meet me here, at five o'clock tonight. Bring the crystals and come alone."
"Fine."
"Oh and you might wanna get that injury looked at, those bandages don't seem to be helping," Neo giggled as her voice faded away.

That afternoon Ruby and Yang were making their way to Oniyuri temple.
"My first sailor scout meeting I'm so excited!" Yang gushed.
Ruby laughed, "you sound like me."
Just then the two girls noticed Oscar a few feet in front of them.
"Oh hey there's Oscar," Ruby said, "I'm gonna sneak up on him."
Yang tried to stop her little sister but Ruby had already begun walking toward the unsuspecting young man.
"Hey Oscar!" Ruby yelled before slapping him on the back.
Oscar winced but tried not to show it, "can I help you Red?"
"Ugh stop calling me that," Ruby said annoyed.
The young man's features softened, "sorry I won't do it anymore I promise. I gotta get going see you Ruby."
With that he walked away.
"W-what was that?" Ruby asked stunned, "he's never this nice to me."
She curled her hand into a fist but felt something sticky.
"What's this?" She opened her hand to see a faint reddish smear on her palm that smelt of iron, "blood...Oscar must be hurt. I gotta make sure he's ok."
"Ruby is everything ok?" Yang asked.
"I gotta go after Oscar. I think he might be hurt."
"Now? But we're supposed to be meeting the girls in a few minutes."
Ruby sighed, "I know can you tell them I'll be there soon. I just have to check on him."
Yang was about to protest but her sister stared at her with pleading eyes, "oh ok...just be quick."
Ruby hugged Yang, "Thanks sis you're the best."
———————————————————————
Oscar stared up at the tower where he was to face Neo, "maybe I should go get this wound looked at. I don't need something holding me back when I fight Neo."
Someone suddenly touched his shoulder and Oscar whipped around, raising a fist as he did so.
"Geez calm down Oscar," Ruby deadpanned.
The young man lowered his fist, "sorry Ruby. You just surprised me is all."
"Why are you so jumpy anyway?"
"Why are you following me?"
Ruby rolled her eyes, "I asked you first. But if you must know I was worried about you."
"Worried? Why?"
The silver eyed girl held her hand up showing Oscar the bloodstain, "because you're bleeding."
Oscar turned and began walking away, "well it's not serious alright? Just leave me alone."
Ruby huffed as she watched Oscar walk away. She could feel something was wrong and hated that he was keeping it from her.
"Well I'm just gonna keep following him and see what he's up to."
—————————————————————
Neo watched gleefully as Oscar continued to make his way toward her and the tower.
She heard nearby clock chime five times.
"Right on time," Neo thought and she snapped her fingers causing a strange red barrier to surround Oscar.
"What's going on?!" Oscar asked.
"Oscar what is this?!" He heard a voice ask behind him.
He whipped around to see Ruby standing behind him and she was inside the barrier as well.
"Ruby! You have to get out of here!"
But it was too late, in a flash the twosome were teleported to the top of the tower.
———————————————————————
Cinder looked at her watch annoyed, "where are those two? We were supposed to have started our meeting already."
"Give them a few minutes I'm sure they'll be here," Blake said.
"Hey guys!" Yang called as she walked up the temple steps.
"Hello Yang," Blake greeted.
"Yang where's Ruby? Don't tell me she forgot the meeting," Cinder said.
Yang blanched, "oh um...well..."
Cinder groaned in annoyance.
"No no she didn't forget she just, decided to follow Oscar around the city..." Yang said sheepishly.
"Why would she do that?" Nora asked.
The blonde sighed, "she was worried about him I guess. She said he was hurt or something."
Zwei looked at the girls, "one of you try calling her on your scrolls, I don't know why but I have a bad feeling."
The four girls did so but not one of them got through.
"Hey I have an idea," Blake said.
She pulled out her mini data computer and began typing into it, "there I found her last known location. Near the tower in the center of town."
"Beacon Tower? The one named after our school?" Yang asked.
The cat girl nodded.
"Then head over there and make sure she isn't in any trouble," Zwei said.
"Right," they all said.
———————————————————————
Meanwhile, Oscar and Ruby had been teleported to the top floor of Beacon Tower.
"Stay behind me, ok Ruby?" Oscar said.
"O-ok..."
"Welcome Oscar," Neo said, "I hope you've held up your end of the bargain. I have."
She placed her five rainbow crystals on the floor.
"Before I do you have to promise me you won't hurt Ruby."
Neo rolled her eyes, "yes yes we don't have any use for her anyway."
"Ok then," Oscar stood up and placed his two rainbow crystals next to Neo's, "I'm ready."
Ruby poked her head out from around Oscar, "wait that's Neo," she thought, "what's Oscar doing talking about fighting her. And he has rainbow crystals?! But that would mean...no it can't be..."
"Hey Oscar are you-"
But she was cut off by Neo laughing.
"What's so funny?!" Oscar snapped.
"You of course. Creatures of this planet are so gullible." Neo smirked.
Roman suddenly teleported into the tower and picked up the crystals.
"Wait! You double crossed me! You have no intention of fighting me!" Oscar yelled.
"Oh please I still intend to fight you, my darling here is just holding onto the crystals for us," Neo replied.
Roman looked over at her, "remember our objective Neo."
He teleported away.
"Hey bring those crystals back right now!" Oscar ordered.
Neo began to vanish into a flurry of pink, brown, and white petals, "you want them? Come get them, I'll be on the roof. You have two minutes. Go!"
The room began growing cold and ice started to appear on the roof and ceiling.
"We gotta move," Oscar said.
Ruby nodded in agreement and they started running to escape. But the ceiling was quickly growing huge, icy stalactites.
One rather large one pierced the floor causing it to crack.
"Oh no," Ruby said.
More cracks appeared on the floor and it began crumbling into nothingness.
"Come one we gotta get to the elevator," Oscar grabbed her hand and began pulling her along.
The twosome barely made it into the elevator before the entire floor crumbled. The door slid shut on its own and began ascending.
"That was too close," Ruby said, breathing out a sigh of relief.
"It's not over yet," Oscar said, "but I'll keep you safe I promise."
Outside of the tower on the ground the remaining sailor scouts were still trying to find Ruby, but they were stunned to see that the door leading into the tower had vanished.
"Someone doesn't want us getting in," Sailor Venus observed.
"Let me do a scan, see if I can find a different way in," Sailor Mercury said.
She pressed her left earring causing a transparent purple visor to appear over her eyes.
She could see Oscar and Ruby going up the tower in the elevator via her visor's x-ray vision.
"I see Ruby, it looks like she and Oscar are trapped in an elevator. They're heading to the roof."
"Ok but is there anyway to get to them?" Sailor Jupiter asked.
Sailor Mercury scanned the whole tower, "I don't think so. Every entrance I can see is sealed off."
"Well we need to find a way in," Zwei said.
"I have an idea," Sailor Jupiter said. She crossed her arms over her chest and extended her pinkies and pointer fingers upward, "Jupiter thunder crash!"
A bolt of lightning struck the wall of the tower, causing it to explode and leave a big hole behind.
"Huh, that works," Sailor Venus said, "let's go."
With that, they ran inside.
———————————————————————
Ruby groaned as the elevator kept climbing up the tower, "ugh this is taking so long. Shouldn't we be there already?"
Oscar didn't say anything.
"S-so how did you get the rainbow crystals? Did some give them to you?"
"No," he said, "I found them. And I need all of them."
"Why's that?" Ruby asked.
"I think if I get all of them then I'll finally know who I am. Where I come from. I haven't known anything about myself my whole life. I don't even know if my name is really Oscar."
Oscar thought back to his earliest memory, waking up in a hospital bed.
I was told my parents died in a car accident. I was really little maybe four or five.
"The boy has complete amnesia," a doctor said, "and no records. He'll have to be sent to an orphanage."
I remember the name Oscar floating around in my head, I assumed that was my name. I ended up living in that orphanage until I could get a job to support myself. It never really bothered me that I couldn't remember who I was until I started having this weird dream.
I'm standing in a silver palace and there's a princess there. She tells me to find the rainbow crystals so she can be free. So that we can be together again. I think she might know who I really am.
"So yeah that's why I need the crystals. Together they make something called the imperial silver crystal and the princess in my dream needs it. I know it's just a dream but I feel like I really know this princess in real life. Pretty crazy huh." Oscar said.
Ruby just stared, dumbfounded.
"Anyway thanks for listening Ruby. I appreciate it." He gave her genuine smile.
"I-it must be hard, not knowing who you really are," Ruby said. She looked over at him and for a split second saw Tuxedo Mask standing in his place. She gasped and rubbed her eyes.
"Are you ok?" Oscar asked.
"Oh um...yeah everything's..." she took a breath, "everything's fine."
———————————————————————
"I can sense them. They're almost here," Neo said to Roman.
The twosome were waiting on the roof of the tower for Ruby and Oscar.
Roman nodded and held his hand out. He began casting a spell to teleport Beacon Tower and everyone inside it to the negaverse.
"What's going on?" Sailor Mercury asked as she and the other scouts felt the tower rumble and shake. Their surroundings also began to twist and warp.
"Don't stop we have to keep moving!" Zwei said.
The scouts nodded and continued their trek to the top of the tower.
———————————————————————
"Hey Oscar I think we're finally stopping," Ruby said as she felt their elevator come to a halt.
Neo perched herself right on top of the elevator and began tossing a ball of fire in her hands, "I don't care what Salem wants. I'm finishing this meddlesome kid off once and for all."
She threw the fireball down into the elevator and Ruby barely had time to pull Oscar to the side before the part of the floor where he had been standing was scorched.
"Thanks," Oscar said
"No problem," Ruby said.
"This is bad," she thought, "Sailor Moon could probably get us out of here. But if I transform in front of Oscar he'll know who I am." She shook her head, "I don't have a choice if we don't want to get killed."
Ruby touched her rose shaped locket, "moon prism power!"
Her locket glowed and turned her into Sailor Moon.
Oscar's eyes widened as he watched Ruby transform into the moon heroine.
"Ruby?! You're Sailor Moon?!" He asked in shock.
"Look I'll explain later. For now we have to get out of here," she removed her tiara turning it into a discus, "moon tiara magic!"
Sailor Moon threw the discus at the top of elevator slicing a clean hole into it. She then grabbed Oscar and they jumped up through the opening together.
Neo smirked as she thought her spell had killed Oscar and Ruby, "oh well. I'm sure Queen Salem won't mind that Tuxedo Mask is dead. After all we do have all seven rainbow crystals now."
"I wouldn't celebrate yet Neo!" Sailor Moon shouted.
The villainess turned in shock to see Sailor Moon and Oscar right behind her.
"What?! When did you get here?! No don't tell me...you're the brat that was with Tuxedo Mask in the elevator!" Neo seethed
"Tuxedo-uh he's not even here," Sailor Moon said confused.
"Yes I am," Oscar said.
Sailor Moon paled and turned around just as Oscar transformed into Tuxedo Mask. Just like always, whenever Sailor Moon transformed it triggered Oscar's transformation.
"Oscar...is Tuxedo Mask?! I-I don't believe it!" Sailor Moon thought.
Tuxedo Mask drew his cane, "Step aside Sailor Moon this fight with Neo and I doesn't concern you."
"A-are you kidding me?!" Sailor Moon spluttered, "of course it does! Let me help you we can beat her together."
The hero shook his head, "no I have to win this fight and the rainbow crystals myself."
Neo cocked one hip out and placed her hands on her waist.
"So you're still interested in fighting me?"
Tuxedo Mask smiled at Sailor Moon, "I'll be fine. Just wait here."
He slowly approached the negaverse general, "ready when you are."
Neo smirked and slowly began conjuring a knife from behind Tuxedo Mask, "I'm ready..." she clenched her fist, "now!!" The knife soared through the air and stabbed Tuxedo Mask through his back and out through his chest.
Sailor Moon screamed as her friend collapsed to the ground.
She ran to him and pulled him into her lap, "T-Tuxedo Mask....no...."
But Tuxedo Mask just gave her a weak smile as his eyes fluttered closed.
The heroine felt tears spring in her eyes, "please...please don't go..."
Just then then other sailor scouts entered into the arena and took in the sight before them.
"W-what's going on?!" Sailor Mercury asked.
Sailor Moon looked to her friends and began to cry, "Neo..she-she..."
The aforementioned villainess scoffed, "oh please he was asking for it. You really thought I was going to play fair?!"
Sailor Moon slowly laid Tuxedo Mask down and stood up before summoning her crescent moon wand.
"Sailor Moon!" Sailor Venus shouted. She tried to run to her sister's side but Sailor Jupiter held her back.
"Look guys..." She said
Sailor Moon looked up at Neo and her silver eyes flashed with a brilliant light, "you monster!! I'll make you pay for what you did!!"
A single silver colored tear rolled down her cheek.
Roman, who was standing off to the side heard a strange clattering noise, he turned to see the rainbow crystals bouncing and moving around inside the golden chest all on their own.
"What the-"
But before he could even finish his thought the crystals shot out of the chest and flew towards Sailor Moon. They began swirling around her, glowing as they merged with her tears. Soon Sailor Moon and the crystals were all glowing silver.
"What's happening?!" Sailor Mars asked.
The crystals merged into one large faceted silver crystal. This crystal fitted itself onto the middle of Sailor Moon's wand, right in the middle of the crescent moon.
As for Sailor Moon herself her sailor scout uniform transformed into a beautiful white dress with puffed sleeves and silver lacing on the bodice. A circlet of silver pearls adorned her hair as a tiara and in the center of her forehead there was now a glowing rose emblem.
"Sailor Moon...Ruby..." Sailor Venus said, "she's-"
"The moon princess," Zwei said in shock, "after all this time she's been found. Our moon princess Ruby."
