Chapter 11
SOTC: Shake It Off - Taylor Swift
Marshal's P.O.V.
-------------
I woke up to Chad's back turned to me. He was snoring lightly and was completely under the cover. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. He stirred a little, then settled back down.
I picked up my phone and looked at the time. It was 6:53. Damn that was a long nap. Yawning, I got up and walked downstairs.
"Hello darling!"
My head shot up and I got greeted with a kiss to the forehead by my mom. She smiled and held my face in her hands. "I've missed you darling."
I gave her a small smile. "I missed you too. Where's dad?"
"He should be back in a few minutes. I sent him to the store when I noticed we had company."
I tilted my head to the left. "Company? Who?"
"That adorable little friend of yours of course! What's his name honey?"
I followed her into the kitchen. "His name is Chad... how did you know he was here?"
"Well, when we got home I tried calling your name, but you never answered. I walked up to your room and when I opened the door, I saw the two of you sleeping." She giggled and picked up her phone. "You both looked so cute, so I took a picture." She handed me her phone.
I looked at the picture and blushed a little. "Mooom! I don't think he would appreciate having random pictures taken of him sleeping!" I smiled while looking at the picture. I sent it to myself then set her phone down.
"I'm sorry, but it was too cute to resist! You both looked cute cuddled up together!" I rolled my eyes as my blush deepened.
"So, what is he like?"
"Well, he's really shy. He reads a lot," I lowered my voice to a whisper. "He doesn't come from the best family..."
She raised her eyebrows. "Do they... hate him?"
I nodded and she gasped. "But they love his brother and sister."
"That's horrible! No one should hate their child! They should love them equally! You let him know that he's always welcome here if he needs to get away."
"I will." She gave me a small smile as the front door opened. My dad walked into the kitchen with a bunch of bags in his hands. He looked at me and smiled.
"Hello son!"
I smiled back. "Hey dad. Do you need any help?"
He shook his head. "This was all of them. Thanks anyway. How's football?"
"It's fine."
"Grades?"
"A's and B's."
"The boy sleeping in your bed?"
"Chad. He's my boyfriend."
He nodded his approval and started helping my mom with dinner.
"I hope he likes spaghetti." She said with a smile.
"He more than likely does. I'm going see if he's up." I said as I got up from my spot.
I walked back upstairs and opened the door to my room. Chad was up, but had his head in his hands.
"Babe, what's wrong?" I asked as I softly closed the door behind me and made my way over to him.
He let out a low whimper. "They're gonna kill me Mar..."
I sat next to him and wrapped my arms around him. "Who's gonna kill you Chad?"
"M-my parents..."
"Why would they? You haven't seen them all day! You did nothing wrong." I kissed his head.
"I-I was supposed to make their dinner for six... it's way after six..." He looked up at me with tears in his eyes. "I don't wanna go back there Mar. I'm tired of this life. I'm tired of getting beat by my parents. I'm tired of the people at school. Just tired..."
I pulled him into a hug as he cried into my chest. "You're not going back there Chad. I'll talk my parents into letting you stay here. I don't want you to go back there and get hurt anymore." I held him tighter. "As for school, you have me and I won't let anyone hurt you. I promise."
He looked back up at me. "Thank you Mar..." He gave me a small smile.
"You're welcome Chad." I gave him a peck on the lips. "I'll take you to your house so you can get some of your stuff. I'll be with you the whole time, so if they try anything I'll be there to stop them. Ok?"
He nodded. "Ok."
"My mom and dad are making spaghetti for dinner. She said you can stay if you want."
He titled his head slightly. "How do they know I'm here?"
I chucked. "My mom said that when they got home, she tried to call my name, but I didn't answer. So she came up here and saw us sleeping." I reached for my phone, suddenly remembering the picture. "She took a picture of us."
I went to the picture and showed Chad who started blushing like crazy. I laughed at his reaction. I then set is as my background and he glared at me.
"Delete it."
"Nah. I'll keep it."
"Maaaar! Please!"
"Nope." I smiled as he sighed. "C'mon, I'll go talk to my parents about letting you stay. They'll more than likely say yes."
He stiffened. "I'm meeting your parents..." He wiggled out of my grip and ran to the bathroom. "MAR WHERE'S YOUR BRUSH?!"
I chuckled. "It's in the first drawer on the right." I stood up and went to the bathroom door and leaned against it. He was frantically brushing his hair. "You look good you know."
"No no no! My eyes are puffy oh God!"
I rolled my eyes. "While you're gussying up, I'll be downstairs. I'll come get you after I talked to them." He gave me a small nod then went back to his hair.
I walked away, shaking my head. I closed my room door and walked down the stairs. What do I tell them? Do I just ask if he can stay for a while? My mom would let him but would my dad?
Their voices came from the kitchen, so that's where I went. Their backs were turned to me. "Mom? Dad?"
They both turned to me. "Yes sweetheart?" My mom smiled.
"Can Chad stay for a while? Some stuff is going on at his house..."
My mom's smile fell. She then lowered her voice. "With his parents?"
I nodded.
"Wait, what's going on?" My dad looked from my mom to me.
"I'll tell you later." She mumbled to him, then turned to me. "He can stay for as long as he needs to."
I smiled. "Thanks mom." I was about to go back upstairs when my dad stopped me.
"He sleeps in the guest room, Marshal."
I felt myself start to blush and my mom giggled. I nodded and went back to my room. When I opened the door, I saw Chad lying on my bed with a towel covering his eyes. "What are you doing?"
"Cold things help puffy eyes go down."
I rolled my eyes and sat next to him. "They said you can stay for as long as you need to. But, you have to sleep in the guest room."
His cheeks reddened as he started to sit up. He took the towel off his face and got up and went back to the bathroom. He suddenly started to sneeze and I started laughing.
"That came out of no where!"
He sneezed as he walked out. "I smelled your colo-" He sneezed again and I kept laughing.
"My cologne?" He nodded and rubbed his nose. I smirked. "It's too strong for you to handle."
He rolled his eyes as I got up. I put my arms around his shoulders and started to lead him out.
"Wait!"
I stopped and looked at him.
"Do I look ok?"
I rolled my eyes, but smiled and kissed his cheek. "You look great Chad."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
We walked downstairs and into the kitchen. I felt Chad stiffen at the sight of my mom and dad, so I gave his shoulders a little squeeze.
"Mom, dad. This is Chad." They turned around and smiled at him as I lowered my arm.
Chad blushed lightly and smiled. "Hello. It's nice to meet you both."
My mom set down her towel and walked up to him. "Hello darling! It's nice to meet you too!" She smiled and pulled him into a hug.
I knew she would like him. I thought, with a smile on my face.
My dad came up to him and held out his hand. "Nice to meet you too son." Chad took his hand with a smile.
"Chad, Marshal says you'll be staying with us for a while?" My mom asks with a reassuring smile.
He slightly glanced at me out the corner of his eyes. "As long as it's okay with the both of you."
My parents nodded.
"Of course Sweetie! You can stay for as long as you want."
"It's no problem son."
He smiled thankfully. "Thank you both!"
"I'm taking him to get some of his stuff. We should be back soon." My mom gave me a worried look, and I gave her a smile to let her know everything with be alright.
My dad nodded. "Dinner should be done by the time you two get back."
We both nodded and smiled. I grabbed Chad's hand and led him out the house. Once I closed the door, I kissed his forehead.
"You did great! I can tell they love you!" I wrapped my arms around his body and kissed him again.
He let out a sigh. "I hope they do... that was so stressful."
I picked him up and twirled him around. He giggled. I carried him to my car and put him in the passenger seat. I went over and got in the driver's side. When I started the car the song that immediately started playing was Shake It Off by Taylor Swift.
I stared at the radio, debating on whether or not to change it. I hate this song, but there's something about it that I like. I don't know. Shrugging, I left the song on and drove off.
--------
Horrible ending. I know.
