Chapter 22-Scent
Candytail wished she could restart the day.
When she didn't wander into the woods, get chased by a pack of evil wolves, and ended up getting lost.
"Why me..?" She spoke.
She hadn't eaten in about a day, and she had NO idea where she was.
The last scents of the cats washed away, leaving no scent besides the wolves.
She wished it was someone else.
Someone who actually knew their way back to camp.
She couldn't protect herself.
She just wanted to nuzzle up in the den.
The wind rustled.
She shivered.
The sky grew darker.
A owl hooted.
The moon was the only light source, yet it could barely reach its way through the trees, leaving it pitch black.
She knew it was going to turn out horrible, but she didn't sleep, she tried to find her way through the forest.
She carefully walked forward.
She remembered this place. It's where she got chased with the wolves.
She sighed knowing that the camp was somewhere.
But where?
The scent was washed away, including Teastar's and BrindleWool's scent from last time they hunted.
The scent of the wolves came back, Candytail became uneasy.
But it smelt like it wasn't fresh, and that the wolves most likely left the area.
She started to run, her paws padded on the ground, causing noise.
She slowed down, and continued to look behind her.
She froze.
The rustle of bushes,
Behind her....
She looked behind her,
The bush was still, and it seemed like it wasn't touched.
She shook her head, and continued to walk.
The faint scent of the camp filled the air.
She was exhausted, and wanted to find the camp more than ever.
She continued on.
The sky grew darker.
Crickets chirped,
Everything was silent.
The fog grew thicker, making it harder to find any scents.
She could see the faint shadow of the camp.
She finally reached the camp.
Everything was silent, but the scents of cats lingered in the air.
They seemed fresh.
She could recognize some of the scents; Teastar, Pinktoe, SidClaw, BrindleWool, Wolfheart, Cocoapaw, Willowheart, Manepelt, WaterClaw...
It was weird–Why was so many cats out? Especially at this time of the night.
She froze.
What if they were trying to find me?!
She shook her head,
Of course not, why would they look for me? Especially people like Wolfheart, and Manepelt.
She could understand why the others would try to find her.
Not really.
She walked toward the Warriors' den.
She took a deep breath.
She walked inside, everyone was fast asleep.
She carefully trotted over to her bed of moss, and curled up.
She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
------------
"Candytail!"
She groaned.
She opened her eyes.
"Are you okay?! Where were you?!" LovelyTail asked.
"I guess.." She replied.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Long story..Trust me, I'll seem stupid." She replied.
"Okay then, well at least you're okay," He said, and trotted out of the den.
Everyone else was awake. The den was empty..
She got up and shook her fur.
She walked outside.
The sun shined, and every cat was outside playing in some way,
WaterClaw noticed Candytail.
She rushed over to her.
"Where were you? Everyone was worried!" She said.
Candytail paused. She looked at her mom.
"I...Uh..." She began.
She didn't want to tell her.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Yes I'm fine," she answered awkwardly.
"If you say so, but if you need anything WillowHeart will be glad to help you." WaterClaw replied.
"Alright, I'll let you go." WaterClaw added.
She walked off.
She was glad she didn't get too harsh with her.
But the big problem was Teastar, and BrindleWool.
She couldn't lie to them, and if she told them the truth, she'd make a fool of herself.
Everyone seemed to just want to know if she was okay.
Speaking of Teastar.
Teastar stepped out of his den, along with BrindleWool.
"Oh StarClan.."
She said.
She had no idea what to do, and she couldn't run away.
She just accepted faith.
