Chapter 8
"Stump you're under arrest for the murder of Mask Heizenfield!"
Gorse stood up abruptly.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S UNDER ARREST FOR MURDERING MASK?!"
Wish snapped her head around to look at Gorse.
"We have found clear evidence that Stump Clawsender brought death to a fellow member of the royal guard. Which is a high offense. Gorse, I'm sure you of all cats should know the penalty for THIS!"
Gorse flinched and took a step back.
"Wha-what was the evidence?" Gorse choked nervously.
He was adjusting his scarf in an uncomfortable manor.
Wish narrowed her green eyes.
"Scent, security cameras, killing weapon evidence, and Stump was nowhere to be found when the alarm went off last night,"
I sat there in a frozen state of shock, I didn't know what to do.
Jade stepped over to her, the once soft calico fur now bristled with furry.
"HOW DARE YOU ACUSE MY SON OF MURDER!"
She hissed, her pupils slitted and eyes narrowed.
There was a tension filled silence for a few minutes.
"Jade. I'm doing my job,"
Wish meowed, cuffing Stump and making him stand up with her.
"You may have close ties to the Snowford family, but that doesn't bring you above the law," she said taking a petrified Stump out the door with her.
I looked over at Ferra, who was hugging me tightly.
I jolted when a loud thud echoed.
All eyes were on Jade.
She just stabbed a knife into the wall....
Gorse stood nervously before started slowly scooting over to the door.
At least until Jade snapped her attention to him.
"What's the penalty for murder?"
Gorse was completely silent as he looked at his feet like they were the most interesting things he'd ever seen.
"GORSE,"
Jade pressed, becoming frustrated even more.
He gulped.
"The m-murder of royalty or a me ever o-of the royal guard is th-the death penalty,"
He said still staring at his feet.
There was a brief silence before Jade slumped to the floor with her hands over her face.
She was mumbling something, but I couldn't quite make out what it was.
I patted Ferra's shoulder to let her know to stop hugging me.
She refused at first but then let go and hugged onto the two frightened sisters.
I crawled over to Jade and hugged her.
"I can't lose another one! I can't lose another one! I CAN'T LOSE ANOTHER ONE!"
She continued to whisper these words in between her silent sobs.
I got closer to her and pulled her closer into a hug.
Everyone say in a terrified silence, Stump couldn't have committed the crime. Right?
Jade lifted her head and stared straight at Gorse.
"Call him,"
"Wha?"
"CALL HIM NOW,"
"Wh-who?"
"Your father," she hissed out staring the ginger tom straight in the eyes.
"O-ok ma'am!"
He stuttered out summoning the same screen he did earlier.
Ring
Ring
Ring
Ring
Ring
It rang for a few minutes before a very annoyed Hazel picked up. This time the screen was too covered in static to make anything out.
"What is it Gorse? I'm a more than a little bit busy and this is my only Flarvishen break,"
"Ja-Jade wanted to speak to you," he stuttered bring the screen to the peeved calico.
"What is it Jade?"
"YAR VIK LAVENTAR GARVELK!?"
"Speak slower,"
"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ARRESTING MY SON?!"
"Jade. I'm the king and I do everything for a reason, please understand that. As of now the only evidence we have leads to Stump being the murderer. If you need convincing of what I've told you, you can talk to Crane. Him and Swirl were on cam duty last night,"
"HAZEL! YOU DON'T GET IT, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LOSE A CHILD, INFACT THREE OF THEM. I CANNIT LOSE ANOTHER ONE YOU. You. BURDENKHA!"
Jade hissed.
That caused all the other cats of the room to give each other confused looks.
Suddenly, the screen was clear.
"Jade,"
"What?!"
"My office. NOW,"
Hazel said in a very creepy calmness.
I didn't like it at all, it sent unnerving chills down my spine.
Jade glared at him with that ghostly purple stare.
"The case is not closed, there is still time to prove him innocent. Also, you should NEVER. HAVE. SAID. BURDENKHA." Hazel said, his voice dripping like poison.
He hung up.
Jade summoned another knife and stabbed the wall.
She angrily sighed, got up, and left the house.
Probably to Hazel's Office.
Gorse nervously walked over to me.
"I-I've never seen them fight before," he mumbled, probably scared of Jade's motherly wrath.
Tawny rushed up to Gorse.
"How about we all do a puzzle?"
She suggested, she was obviously hoping to lighten the very dim mood.
Gorse looked at the time.
"Oh, It's 2:30. I've got to go to work guys. I uh, SARAH'S IN CHARGE!" He blurted out last second and ran out the door.
That left just Tawny, Hazel Jr., Ferra, and me.
"Well, that went well,"
I commented sarcastically.
"Sarah,"
Hazel Jr meowed.
"What?"
"Shut up unless you're injured or dying," she hissed leaving the room.
I shot a glare at her as she left, Tawny and Ferra shared a concerned glance at eachother.
"How about we do the puzzle?"
Ferra asked shrugging with a awkward smile as Tawny nodded to try and coax me into it.
"No thanks, I'm not interested right now,"
I said to their disappointment.
They headed back to the living room to do the puzzle.
'I know there is probably a murderer roaming around, but I REALLY need a good ol' walk,'
I grabbed a jacket and slipped it on before I headed out of the house.
The main roads still had cats walking around, they were on edge though.
A few of them gave me these eerie stares, and sharp glares as if I had just done something disturbing.
Soon enough a cat that looked almost identical to King Hazel walked up to me.
He was VERY odd.
He had the same pattern and colors as Hazels, but the colors were all switched around. He had these blood curdling red eyes.
The scariest part.
He had floating limbs.
His head, feet, hands, and tail were detached from his body and floating just above where they should be.
He looked pixilated and glitched.
"Hey there kid, you work with Crane?"
He inquired in this voice that was equivalent to nails scrapping on chalkboard.
"No, why are you asking that?"
"Well, you are wearing a lab coat!"
He said.
This guy sounded so full of himself and narcissistic, it was revolting.
I don't like this guy at all.
"Wait what?"
I said looking at the jacket I grabbed.
I immediately realized that's why the others had been looking at me strange.
I was wearing Duck's lab coat.
This guy started giving off this unholy laughter, and by golly it was so horrid sounding.
I VERY MUCH hated this guy.
"I'm sorry Sarah! I forgot to introduce myself!"
He purred in that sickly tone Swirl used when I first met her.
This time I realized he was floating, his feet haven't touched the ground since he started talking to me.
"Lezah Drofwons at your service small dear Sarah,"
He cooed.
I stared at him.
"How do you know my name?!"
He started up that horrid laughter again.
"I know everything Hazel does. in a way, you could say me and him are one in the same,~"
Lezah said.
I jumped away from him when he tried to pet my hair.
"WHA-WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"
"HREH! HREH! HRE! SO MANY THINGS MY DEAR! SO MANY THINGS!"
He creed loudly.
Suddenly a broom hit him over the head.
"VIIEL ZERCAR NEVARK!"
Someone scolded at him as he rubbed the top of his head before he hissed at them.
"YOU CAN'T ORDER ME AROUND!"
He growled to the white cat.
"OH YES I CAN! Get your filthy behind away from here! Nobody likes you!" She hissed prodding him with the broom.
"Do you not get who I am?"
He hissed out coldly.
"I know plenty who you are Lezah, now scurry back to the puddle you slipped out from,"
She responded.
Lezah grumbled a few things before his form zipped into pixels that evaporated away.
"Uuhhhhhh,"
I droned out loud in confusion.
She looked to me.
"He didn't hurt you, did he Hun?"
She meowed moving the broom so it wouldn't whack me as she walked over.
"No, he just confused and weirded me out. What is he?"
"He's an Anti deary. Everybody around her has em, they are always the exact opposite of their host or master. Lezah for instance is Hazel's anti, the only oddity is Lezah is the same gender as Hazel. But if you can't already tell anti names are their hosts names spelled backwards. For instance, my anti's name is Wons Dleishnwad. Of course It's a little hard to decipher, but my name's Snow Dawnshield,"
The white cat explained, her glistening blue eyes shifting around as if she expected the anti to pop up.
"Oh, I guess that makes sense. But why are they there?"
"Well, Anti's are with you from the day that your born, they, well, I guess you could say they are the yin to your yang or vise versa. They keep your soul, magic, and strength reasonable and balanced out. Like Hazel hates mirrors, or valuing himself over others while Lezah is a narcissistic greedy pile of dirt. I'd suggest never talking to good cats Anti's, the better the host, the worse the anti,"
Snow explained to me.
"I think I get it now. Thank you Snow!"
"Your welcome Sarah,"
"How-"
"I heard Lezah say it,"
"Oh,"
I responded.
She gave me a quick goodbye before she scurried off to a building that I assume she works at.
I continued on my walk and stopped at the lab.
'Should I go in?'
I stepped up to the first step and knocked on the heavy metal door.
A similar face answered the door.
It was a female version of Crane she was actually normal sized and had all the same features except what was always different about Anti's.
"Wh-Who are you?"
"Sarah, and you?"
"Enarc,"
She mumbled out, she moved so I could walk in.
