|Let's Begin|

Welcome to the first part of this book. The very beginning is about five points to remember before publishing your first story part!

Now, there are certain pointers that you've to keep in mind while publishing your story's first part.

Number 1 :- Start with a proper ending in mind.

Many of the people who join Wattpad, join it for the sole purpose of reading stories. But when they find everyone writing something or the other, they decide to try their hands at writing too.

Basically, these newbies don't have a proper story in their minds, they just have a collection of ideas that are somehow connected to the stories they've read, and the ones that have inspired them to become writers. The start of their first story, highly resembles some other famous story that they've read. That isn't plagiarism, because they don't do it intentionally.

And, then somewhere in the middle, they're lost! Because they don't know what they're supposed to write and how is their story going to progress? And then they randomly start to put in random things in their stories thinking that it would make sense.

So before you start writing, Stop! Don't do anything just in the heat of the moment. You may have a very fantastic start for your story, but the start isn't what makes a story great! Think about how you're going to present your story. And how is your story going to end.

Number 2 :-  Don't Jumble up things.

Now basically, some people are a nuclear bomb of good ideas. They've ten different ideas going on in their heads, which are fantastic. But these writers, decide to put all of the good ideas in one single book.

Imagine, you've a pizza, a big chocolate cake, a burger, your favorite spicy dish, a choco chip ice cream, a biryani, and a big bottle of Hershey's syrup and you can eat it all on your own. And you decide to put all of that in a mixer and mix it and then drink whatever masterpiece you've created. Sounds gross right? It is! Would you be interested in doing that? Hopefully no, So don't do it with your stories either.

You've ten different ideas, make ten stories out of them. Don't mix up everything. It's going to be a disaster and this is my personal experience so i don't want anyone to feel embarrassed like i do when I read my first story.

Number 3:- The Prologues

Guys, a prologue is something that decides whether a visitor is interested in your story or not. Technically, the word "prologue" is used when you publish a part of a chapter of your story right in the starting to make the reader curious about what's going on. This means that the content of prologue would be repeated somewhere inside the book.

A prologue gives the reader a little idea about the contents of the story, like the way the characters behave with each other, etc. So a good prologue leaves a good impression on the reader.

But, some people don't write a prologue that way. They write a little about the lives of the characters of the story before the actual story begins. Like, how the two characters were busy in their own life,  dealing with their own problems, cherishing their good times with their family, etc. But guys!  This Kind of a prologue doesn't give any idea about what your story is all about. If the reader skips it, they are not at a loss, because anyway, it is nothing related to the story. A prologue creates curiosity in the mind of the reader, so an intense scene having a huge importance in your story should be chosen to write the prologue. And, obviously, it should be a virtual cliffhanger.

The first question that should come in a reader's mind when he or she reads your prologue is "WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?"

Also, never give too much story info in your prologue. That way, the reader can almost guess what your story would be like and lose his or her interest in your story.

Number 4 :- A good story description.

Now, many people put their prologue text into their description too, which is a great idea. And maybe the best idea if you don't want to think of something else, or if you aren't finding anything creative for a small description.

If you're not in a mood to write a good description, you should put your prologue as the story description.

But, never ever put your characters complete details in it. Like meet Mr XYZ, he's 6ft 2 inches tall, has a pointed nose, fuller lips,  fair complexion, has dated three girls before, bites his nails, drinks, has killed people, lost trust on love, blonde hair, etc. Like come on. You write about the character and things that are related to the story. You write about his height that you're never going to mention in the book again. Write about his behavior.

If Your character is emotionally dead, tell the readers that he had a dark past. Just randomly saying that he doesn't laugh much, sits in a corner, and stuff, won't help. Explain, Why?

But whatever you do, Never write things like "Hey, thanks for clicking on my story. Do check it out. Hope you like it"
Like please. It is a story description, not an advertisement!

Both description and prologue leave an impression on your reader and you don't want it to be a mad impression!

Number 5 :- Choose a cover.

Many writers, who are not good at designing covers, or are too lazy to do it, simply publish the story without a cover. So, their highly blurred display picture is seen as the cover with the story title written in white.

Now honestly, when i see such a story, i myself start hesitating in just clinking on it, let alone reading. It just makes me feel that the story is boring. So the best way is to either design a cover, or ask a designer to do it for you. There are plenty of book cover designing books here on Wattpad. Request the designers and they'll help you out. They don't even take money, just a follow! And they make beautiful covers that are eye catching and inviting too.
