Chapter 17

Rope vines were spreading over Marella's body. She tried burning the vines, but the kept coming back. She tried cutting the vines with the daggers but no point. Soon she was covered in vines. They had huge thorns. They were blunt but large, and kept poking her body, where they touched and they were so itchy. She even tried turning into a literal fireball, when she saw Leo doing it, but it only resulted in the vines getting loose, and then coming back multi fold.

She screamed as the vines started pulling her towards one of the tunnels and that was not the one Rachel had pointed to.

She saw as the others were pulled into different tunnels and a boy, Frank got pulled in the tunnel along with her. She was not in any position to move, much less try and escape and the moving vines were not making it any easier. She closed her eyes shut and have in to the fates. (A/N: bad idea Marella, they are cruel people, for heroes like you.)

She heard the tunnel collapse behind her. There goes the chance of going to back to where they started from. Soon the moving stopped and the vines loosened around her. Soon she was laying on the floor. She just wanted to stay there, lying to the end of eternity, but a low inhuman growl brought her out. She saw Frank shuffle beside her and looked at the dark area in the front.

He seemed to be able to see just fine. She remembered Sophie telling her, that he could turn into animals. Maybe some of their qualities remained, because Marella couldn't see anything. She lit her hand on fire and wished she hadn't.

A blue skinned monster was standing in front of her. It had four arms and three or them held swords. It had skull based golden jewellery and a wings on it's back. It had fangs coming out of her teeth, which had blood in its front part. But worst part was that he had part of his hairs in small braids, just like her. She didn't like the comparison.

She took out a dragger from her boots with her right  hand and readied a fireball in her left hand.

She saw out of the corner of her eyes as Frank took out a bow and arrow. She looked at Frank and a similar plan formulated in both of their minds.

The monsters wings were made of feather, and very much flammable. The monster that because when it saw Marella, it had put two of its hands covering the wings.

She aimed the dagger in the general torso of the monster and threw. The monster used its sword to flick it to the side. At the same time, Frank released two joint arrows. The monster used its other two arms to cut them, because there was no direction he could have dodged without getting hurt, but either the arrows or the dagger.

This left his right wing uncovered. She threw her fireball, but the monster caught it with its fourth arm. She threw two other fireballs, while the monster was still in shock of catching literal fire in it arms. Its wings caught on fire. It waved its wings, but it only increased the fire. Then it did something unexpected. He cut off his wings, and as if naturally, no blood flow out.

Of course, it didn't. Such inconvenient was reserved for heroes.

Oops.

Now they were out of plans. Marella took out three goblin stars from her tunic and thrower them consecutively. The monster dodged all three stars and all three arrows with ease. Maybe it was better when he had his wings.

Just then, the unexpected happened. Frank turned into an African elephant. Before the monster could get over the shock of it, Marella threw a bunch of fireballs in its  direction.

And even in its state of shock it dodged all of them. Them Frank charged. He held the monster by its feet and hanged him upside down. The monster thrashed its sword, and hurt Frank around its trunk, but given that he was upside down, it was easy to levitate all of its sword out of his hands. After that, it was an African elephant vs. a very muscly but defenseless monster. Frank sunk his tusks into the monsters stomach and instead of evaporating, the monster morphed into the body of a child, about fourteen.

He had messy black hairs, and such innocent face.

He choked and said, "Please....don't....hurt...him...ah...forced....Mr.L..." he said and his body went lifeless.

The dead body was of the little kid, not of the monster, and a person takes his original form in the time of his death.

Frank clasped a hand over his mouth,"Did I just kill a kid?"

"No, you didn't. You killed the monster, who was trying to kill you." Marella said softly.

Frank nodded, "What he said, though. It seemed like he was forced to do what he did. He was saying something about not hurting someone."

"We can worry about that later. We have to get out of here first. Think you can turn into some animal that can remove the broken wall?"

Frank nodded but looked doubtful. He couldn't transform well under nervousness and this was some major...emotions. It would be a bummer if she had to move around the Labyrinth with an elephant.

They went anyways. They were surprised to see that the tunnel was blocked by huge smooth rock wall.

"Well, I am not sophie. I definitely cannot blast rock walls." Marella said.

"So, what now?" Frank asked.

"We go the only way there is." Marella said, picking up all the daggers and stars she had throws.
