6: Legends at the Agency

Sara's PoV.:

I was staring into the void. There was a woman on the street down below, seemingly lost.

"And here I thought you used up all your League of assassin vacation days," Laurel said from behind me, distracting me from observing the lady below me.

"You look great," I told her. There was something about her that felt different but I didn't know what it was. "How's dad doing?" I had to know but I couldn't stop by to ask him myself. Not this time.

"The same" my sister told me. "Seeing you will help" I knew she would say that and I knew she'd be crushed if I told her I wasn't gonna visit my father. I looked away and stopped for a moment to see the girl still standing right under us.

"I don't want him to know I'm in town," I said looking back. "Not just yet." Laurel gave me a look that I couldn't describe. It was both pride and disappointment but there was something else in it. If I didn't know better I'd have said it was mischief.

"You're not," she said. Her voice was reassuring and she smiled into the sentence. "You are far away from home aren't you?" I was confused. I saw flashes of adventures. The Waverider. Ava. The Legends. And lastly the alien ship.

"Sara" Laurel said to me. Her voice was different this time.

"Sara" I opened my eyes and found myself on my bed in the Waverider. Ava was standing above me, trying to wake me up. "We have a little problem," She told me. I got up from the bed still a little confused by my dream. I followed Ava to the bridge where everyone was already gathering.

"I pick up sightings of a dragon," Gideon said when I arrived. "The records say it starts its rampage at the beach of Coast city and destroyed half of America before contained." We stood in shock at the records Gideon pulled up from 2021. It took less than six months for one creature to destroy half of our continent. We had to do something about this.

Everyone sat down and strapped in without a command and I set a course for 2020 August. The familiar pull appeared and the Waverider landed on an abandoned part of the beach. I still asked Gideon to camouflage us as a shipwreck just in case.

We walked out to the part that was closest to the city. People were either running off the beach or staring at the street. There was a huge dragon walking towards the sandy coast. It was mesmerizing and terrifying at the same time. All of its body was covered in light blue scales that looked similar to the clear summer sky. Its wing bones were highlighted with a shade of black I didn't know existed. I somehow felt like it was a female.

Looking around I wanted to facepalm as most of the people were still just staring at the rampaging creature, some even filming it with their phones. I and Ava started running around telling everyone to get off the beach immediately. By some miracle, we actually cleared the entire coastline by the time the dragon reached it. It stopped for a moment looking around. Her eyes were mostly red filled with rage.

Shifting her gaze, she stared down at us, closely inspecting all members of my team. As I looked at her I had the strangest feeling, as if she was scared underneath all that anger.

"You are far away from home aren't you?" I whispered to myself but the dragon stopped to stare at me as if hearing my words. Her eyes turned blue for a moment until John interrupted.

"Come at me you demon," he said without caring about what could happen. The blue eyes were once again covered in red and the furious creature turned to face the demonologist, letting out a long breath of fire. I rolled my eyes before approaching the dragon along with Ava. I didn't know what I wanted to do but I had to do something. I hit the dragon's leg.

I saw the dragon and everything else disappear around me. Everything except the sand. I was standing in a place that was all too familiar. I would never forget the ashy-blue atmosphere of the demon dimension. Right in front of me, I saw a girl around her twenties staring at a mirror. Zombies were approaching her until she fell on her back and I was back on the beach.

There was a girl passed out where the dragon was just a moment ago and a woman was giving orders. She soon turned to us with a disbelieving but somehow thankful look. There was a scar on her face, going from her forehead through her left eye to her shoulder. It looked nasty and I had a sneaking suspicion as to what caused it.

"Who are you and why did you fight this dragon?" She was cold and observing but somehow worried. I could just feel it deep in my bones. I was scared but I had to hold my ground before my team screwed something up that we can't fix.

"Magical being seemed to cause damage," I rolled my eyes at Mick's reaction. Not everyone needed to know what we were doing and once again I had to fix what he messed up.

"What Mick wanted to say, is thank you for helping us out." I walked up beside Mick to face the woman.  „We were just trying to do our jobs" I finished.

"Which is?" She was annoyed but she hid it well. I only saw it because of my training with the League of assassins.

"Saving the world, or the reality, or" I tried to stop Nate but it was too late for that „slaying dragons" he pointed at the passed out girl on a stretcher.

"I'm sorry what?" The woman was not hiding what she felt anymore and that told me she had a close relationship with the dragon-girl.

"What Nate meant" I was getting tired of having to correct all of them. „was that we save those, who are in trouble and that woman caused a problem but we see that she's not dangerous when you are around so we should be on our way now." The woman standing in front of me smiled at us.

"Yeah," she said. „On your way to my office to explain why you didn't run at the sight of a real-life dragon." She turned around and started to walk ordering her team to get us, idiots to do the same.

"Guys, for once try to act normal," I looked around at my team. I got some „copy Captain"-s and a grunt from Mick. As we were walking, surrounded by armed agents, John decided it was a good idea to walk up to the woman, who turned out to be the dragon girl's sister.

"Does your sister have any past with demons?" he asked not caring about anything.

"Excuse me?" She clearly thought we were idiots by then.

"Well you know, if she had, that would explain a few things, love," he said.

"I don't think so" She was pissed. "Now go back to your... team, before I make you go back" I chuckled at that. No one ever really talked to John like this, except for me of course. He wasn't fazed by it though and just casually walked back to us.

We arrived at a building that reminded me of the D.E.O building and somehow I had the feeling that they had a similar job.

"Please take a seat," the woman said as we were led into an office at the fifth level. We all sat down and to my surprise, everyone was quiet, even Mick.

"I can clearly tell that you are some kind of team, but I would like to know what organization are you with?" She sat down at her table. There was no escaping by than as she closed the door of the office and there were heavily armed guards outside.

"We're the Legends of tomorrow," Nate said.

"We're the Ultimate buds" I couldn't help but chuckle at that answer, even if it was a stupid one. We were an unusual group.

"Who is the leader?" The woman asked looking at me, clearly having an educated guess to the answer.

"I am," I answered. "I'm Captain Sara Lance. And you are?" I could see the shock in her eyes but she answered.

"I'm Cloe Waters leader of the go-team taking care of the dragon and..." She hesitated for a moment "...the sister of the dragon," She wasn't telling us something but I let it go. I wasn't the one interrogating her. "This is gonna be a strange question but Mick right?" She asked turning to Mick.

"Yes," he answered shortly.

"Why is there a statue of you as a hero of the war of independence?" She asked. We looked at each other with Ava. That one was going to be hard to explain.

"That is a long story, and you would probably not believe us," I said looking back at Cloe. She had a look that was both belief and disbelief.

"Try me," She was pretty confident. "You have no idea what I've seen."

"I was there thanks to time travel and I saved Washington" Mick answered. That was the shortest way to explain it.

"The last guy that said time travel is real, didn't succeed in making me believe it" We were all shocked. Not many people would talk openly about time travel. I could only think about one. Rip Hunter, our late Captain.
