Chapter 6: "You Idiot!"

Chapter 6: "You Idiot!"

Marcus' POV

I came in with my hood on, and my arms full of materials such as computers with hacking ability. Plus more of those web cams he loved so much. Douglas walked up to me.

"M-dog! Thanks for getting those supplies for me." I looked at the floor confused. What was he doing? He never gave me credit for things like this. He never gave me credit ever.

"You're welcome?" I put the supplies down on the table, and began to walk away. I could hear footsteps behind me, and he put his hand on my shoulder. What the hell did he want with me now? I think I'm going to lose it. This nicer Douglas had to pay. If he thinks this can make up for years of abandonment, and slave labor he was wrong. I grabbed his forearm, turned around, and yanked him into a sucker-punch to the nose. He fell to the ground cradling his bloody broken nose.

"Marcus?! What was that for?!" I looked at me with pure hate, and disbelief. I can't believe he was questioning this, but more importantly questioning me. I was the one with the super smarts. I finally looked him dead in the eye, and said

"Never touch me!" He got up and scoffed as he began to explain.

"Listen, we need to talk. Sit down now!" I rolled my eyes as I sat. I can't believe he's trying to act like a father now. He had 15 years to do that, but he never has.

"What do we need to talk about? Obviously there's nothing." I glared at the ground, and he sighed drearily.

"Well, since I realize that you know you're not human, I feel that I should tell you the truth." Well it took him long enough.

"Oh wow I didn't think you knew that I knew..." I said gesturing to myself "I mean its not like you barged into the bathroom while I was sewing my face back together or anything" I said with hurtful sarcasm. Douglas shook it off with a sad look on his face, and continued what he was going to say.

"Anyways I thought I should tell you the truth. You're not a bionic human..." He sighed, and before I could protest that I knew he spit it out.

"... You're an android Marcus." My eyes became wide with realization. Why didn't I think of this when I had the chance? He continued

"... So that means that you don't have much longer to live. You'll eventually burn out." I got up dizzily. I felt my face turn extremely pale. Not much longer to live?! I'm only 15! I had millions of questions.

"What you're saying is that I was just a replacement for them." I could feel him looking at me even though I wasn't looking at him back. He laughed a little. Why would he do this to me?

"Well when you put it that way, yeah I guess so." I shook my head. Why? Why was this happening why couldn't this happen to someone else? Someone like Chase?

"Listen, we had a good run, but you're going to die soon, and I need someone else bionic. Three of them to be exact." I looked towards the desk where I had set everything. I need to get out of here.

"I need to install those cameras." I said hurried. I used my super speed to run out of the apartment. I ran as fast as I could down the boulevard into the woods. I stopped short at a cliff, and threw the cameras down beside me. I pulled my legs up near my chest, and buried my face into them. As I tried to comprehend everything. I looked up to see the sunset off in the horizon. I felt like I couldn't breath until I saw that. I could finally think clearly again. I didn't want to go to the Davenport's. I never wanted to face them again, but I knew that I'd have to go back to Mission Creek eventually. I'd pay the price if I didn't go. Then again I was already going to die anyways. Wasn't that punishment enough? I stayed there until it got dark, and finally decided to just do everything Douglas said. I grabbed that damn bag I wanted to launch over the cliff, and super sped to Mission Creek. I stopped a block from the Davenport's. I can't believe I'm doing this again. I had to be extra cautious going in there. They'd all be on high alert for any suspicious activity. I ran up to the front door, and ran a heat signature test throughout the living room. No one was in there, or the kitchen. That meant that they were gone, or worse. In the lab where I was going to set up the majority of the cameras. I opened the door, and crept into the house. I heard Eddy begin to turn on, so I super sped under him, so his cameras wouldn't detect me.

"Donny?" I sat motionless under him as he continued

"Are you home from dinner with Tasha and the kids?" He said looking around.

"Ugh. Never mind." He turned off, and I used my super speed to go down to the lab. They were gone, so that meant I could install the cameras with no trouble. It took me approximately 5 seconds to get them installed in the lab. I ran back to the living room to install the rest of the cameras, but during the process I heard something. It was a car door. Then multiple car doors following after that. That only meant one thing. They were back from dinner.

"...but seriously though! I can't believe they made our leftovers into a swan!" It was Leo. They started to unlock the door as I went into a panic. I did a barrel roll into the kitchen, but quickly realized that they would put their swan shaped leftovers in the fridge. I looked everywhere trying to find a place to hide. It was too late to super speed out. Bree would catch me first. I looked up at the ceiling. That's it I'll hide there! I super sped up to the ceiling keeping one hand on it to balance. They came in, and Donald shut the door. Chase rolled his eyes at Leo.

"Why does that amaze you so much? It's basic geometry. If you know the principles of triangles that whole act is child's play." He said in an obvious tone. I so badly wanted to race down there and punch the living crap out of him. Everyone glared at Chase, but Bree. She walked up to him, and put a reassuring arm around his shoulders as everyone else walked away. I sighed in disgust, and rolled my eyes. They must've heard me, because they started to look around. Don't look up, please to god don't look up up. I started losing my grip on the ceiling. They started to move as I began to fall. Crap. I fell with a soft bang on the couch, and before they could turn I grabbed the empty bag under the couch and ran out. That was too close.

********************************************

I entered the door quietly, so Douglas wouldn't know that I was home. He was probably sleeping by now. I noticed that the office chair at his desk was faced towards the wall. I walked towards there until I was about a foot away from it. I reached over to turn it the opposite way. Things like this always bothered me. When all of a sudden it spun quickly to face me. I jerked my hand back.

"SO HOW'D THE MISSION GO?!" I started to scream only to see that it was Douglas.

"Oh shut up Marcus. It's just me!" I buried my hands in my face, and sighed with relief.

"It went fine Douglas." I said through my hands. I looked up at him.

"Everything is set up just the way you asked." I rolled my eyes as he laughed with joy.

"Just out of curiosity how long were you sitting there for?" He looked back at me.

"A few hours. Why?" I backed up a few steps from my psychopath of a dad.

"No reason." I put my hands up in surrender as I walked away. I closed the door to my room, and took off my coat. I threw it on the ground, and lied down on my bed staring up at the ceiling. I finally narrowed all the questions I had earlier down to one, and I knew that there would never be an answer for it to satisfy me. Why couldn't I just be normal?

*******************************************

I woke up to see Douglas watching live security cam footage while eating a bowl of cereal. I rolled my eyes, and went straight to the kitchen. He looked up from his computer to me.

"Good morning sunshine!" He said with obvious sarcasm. I turned my head slowly to look at him. What the hell was that supposed to mean?

"Yeah, sure." I said with a mouthful of dry cereal in my mouth. I scratched my head as I grabbed a bowl from the cabinet. I just realized that I went a month without eating anything, and I felt fine. I looked up to see Douglas still staring at me.

"Androids don't need to eat." he scoffed at me. I put the bowl back into the cabinet, and ran to my room. I shoved my shoes on quickly. I really couldn't deal with crazy today, so I decided to go to the cliff.

"Marcus!" Looks like I spoke to soon. I walked out to where Doulas was at.

"What do you want now Douglas?" He smiled up at me.

"There's the Marcus I know." I rolled my eyes as he continued

"Anyways. Donny just realized that his bank account has been hacked into, and that kid Leo is home sick today. You know what that means, right?" I stared blankly at him

"I feel you're going to tell me." He sighed in frustration at me.

"It means that our plan is a go." That was anticlimactic.

"Ok. You... have fun with that." I got up from where I was sitting, and started to walk towards the door.

"Well where are you going?" I sighed.

"Out." I said. He began to laugh at me

"Are you sure you wanna go outside looking like that." He said motioning to what I was wearing. Why did that matter? I looked down to see that I was only wearing the boxers I had worn to bed last night, and a worn out t-shirt. I used my super speed to go back into my room and change. Then I sped out the door leaving it open. I arrived at the cliff, and sat there. I had nothing to do, but I was away from Douglas. I wish it could always be this way. Run away from my problems, and never look back.

******************************************

I stayed there for the rest of the day until it got dark. I didn't want to, but I decided to go back to Douglas. My phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Douglas. I picked up the phone.

Douglas: "Marcus where are you?!"

Marcus: "Relax mom. I'm on my way."

Douglas: "Well hurry up!"

I ran into the apartment, and stopped to see Douglas pacing, and laughing evilly.

"What's the problem Douglas?" He paused, and looked at me with a devilish smile.

"I think you mean what's not the problem!" he pointed out. I looked at him confused as he explained.

"Donny lost all of his money to me, Principle Perry found out that the kids are bionic, and that made them run away!" he said jumping up and down.

"And by them you mean..." I said trying to make him frustrated.

"Adam, Bree, and Chase! Marcus keep up!" He continued

"Donny was talking with the FBI about his hacking, and the kids thought he was there for them, so they ran away!" he said in triumph. I sighed bored of this conversation already

"Douglas, what's this gotta do with me?" He looked at me offended that I wasn't as excited as he was.

"Marcus, you see we have our trap set. All we have to do now is attract them to it." I was trying to comprehend this crazy plan.

"...So what you're saying is that since Bree, Chase, and Adam are on the run from the 'FBI' we give them a place to stay." Douglas nodded along with me.

"Exactly." I stopped, and started to think.

"How exactly are we going to give them a place to stay if we don't want them to know we exist?" Douglas led me to his computer.

"Right now we don't know where they are, or where they are going. Neither do they, so I was thinking you could send one of them anonymous coordinates to..." he clicked a link that led to an informational page on a foreclosed apartment.

"That's the apartment next to ours." Douglas looked at me, and nodded again.

"Yup, and all I need for you to do is send these coordinates to Bree." My body tensed up as he said he name.

"What? Why her? Why can't it be someone else?" I spoke fast. Douglas got up calmly, and walked over to me. He put his hand on my shoulder, but quickly took it off. Afraid I might go off, and beat him again.

"Marcus calm down. Why does this bug you? I mean its not like you're in love with her or anything, right?" I shook my head. No, not anymore. She obviously wanted Chase, so I had to move on from that. I ruined my chances of having her anyway.

"Send me the coordinates, and I'll forward them to her." Douglas pointed at me in triumph.

"Now that's what I'm talking about!" he typed them to me, and I got a tingling sensation. I put my fingers up to my temple, and looked upward. I saw her face in my contacts of people, and sent them to her.

"It's done." He looked off in the distance evilly.

"Perfect. Everything's going just the way we wanted it." Yeah it was the way "we" wanted it. Just like when "we" forgot my birthday.

"What ever makes you sleep at night Douglas."

*******************************************

I woke up, and walked into the living room. Douglas was practically diving into this strangely large tool box.

"Douglas what are y..." He cut me off by running up to me, and covering up my mouth.

"Are you trying to blow our cover?!" He whispered at me. I removed his hand from my mouth, and my eyes began to flash green with anger. He backed up two feet, and put his hands up in surrender. He had some explaining to do.

"They made it." He mouthed to me. He stepped a little bit closer, and continued.

"So that means we have to be quiet, or else they'll find out about their next door neighbors." He sighed.

"That also means that we can't go out of this apartment unless it's needed. That means that you can't go out on your super speed joy rides anymore." I looked down at the ground in disappointment. My only key to freedom was now gone. Unless I decided to sneak out late at night. That's what I'll do as long asI get to get out of here.

"Ok." I whispered in agreement. Like he actually thought I was going to do what he said. Did he not know me? Well actually he didn't. I'm more of a bionic slave to him. He knelt down, and reached his arm back into the tool box.

"Now can I ask what you're doing?" He yanked out a drill, and looked at it crazily.

"We're going to drill some peep holes tonight." I shook my head.

"You... You're drilling holes tonight. I'm not going to be part of this!" I put my hands up and walked away.

"Fine, but that means you won't get to see your girlfriend change in the morning..." He left off. I whipped my head around, and glared at him.

"She's not my girlfriend!" I yelled just to piss him off.

"Be quiet!" He spat at me. I rolled my eyes, and went to my room. I sat on my bed. Could this day get any weirder? Then again there was tonight, so I guess that answered my question.

*******************************************

The day went by slowly, but eventually night came. I heard scratching on my door.

"Marcus." It was Douglas. I answered it.

"It's time to drill!" he whispered while holding up the drill.

"What the hell is with the scratching?" I said motioning to the door.

"We can't knock, or else they'll hear us. We scratch now!" he said pointing to me.

"If you're so concerned with being quiet, how do you think you're going to drill quietly?" I mocked him while he glared at me.

"It's a silent drill." he replied in a duh tone.

"I'm still not participating in this." I whispered as he began to pout.

"You're not. You're supervising!" He said grabbing my shoulder, and leading me to the living room. He ran towards the wall, and bent down.

"You're good at this hardware stuff. Tell me if I'm stripping the screw." I stared blankly at him

"Fine. Let's just get this over with." He put the screw on the wall followed by the drill, and started screwing.

"You know this could've been a great father son moment, if you agreed to do this with me." He said trying to gain sympathy. There was a rough bang in the wall.

"Douglas! You're stripping the screw!" He glared up at me

"We'll then show me what to do 'Handy Mandy'." I glared back at him.

"Put more pressure on the drill, Dougy." I waltzed into the kitchen, and started making a sandwich. Douglas turned around.

"Androids don't eat, remember?" He said in a mocking tone. He started stripping the screw again.

"Shut up! And focus on the screw, not me!" He whipped his head back to the drill.

"Ok I think it's in... What do I do now?" I slammed my sandwich on the plate as he looked at me like a lost puppy.

"Put the drill in reverse, and take the damn thing out." I said with a mouthful of sandwich.

"Oh right. I knew that!" He said taking offense. He pressed the switch to make it go in reverse as he glared at me. I pointed to the wall, as if to say yet again focus on the wall

"I know!" he said in reply. He put pressure back on the drill, and started to take it out. Bang! Bang!

"Come on you wimp more pressure! You're stripping it again!" He's doing this whole project wrong. To tell the truth I thought he would figure that to make a hole through the wall, he would just need the drill. Looks like he's not as much as a genius as he thought he was. I guess I should break it to him, so he doesn't make the same mistake again.

"Douglas? You do know you could gave drilled that hole without a screw, right? You could have just used the drill alone, and it would've been much faster" I laughed as he started to look up at me.

"Are you kidding me?!" He said in disbelief as he had a full on freak attack. He was trying not to scream out in frustration at me, and that made him lose his grip on the drill. He dove back to the ground to try and catch it, but the drill landed to the ground with a big thud.

"You idiot!" I hissed at him. He glared up at me

"It's not my fault! That drill was getting heavy!" he said pouting. I ducked to the ground trying not to be seen, or heard. I heard movement on the other side, and then nothing. Douglas rose off the ground, and picked up the drill.

"I think we're safe." he said reassuring me. It didn't work though. I hoped that they didn't wake even though I knew they probably did. If they did then that would mean everything including my life, would be stopped short. Shorter than an idiot's patience while using a drill.
