Chapter 7 An Unexpected Encounter
The early birds sang a beautiful serenade from the branches they stood on while a drop of dew fell from leaf to leaf. Then, the wind briskly stroked the bladed grass, covering a large span of the Samson's backyard. A wooden swing hung from one of the tree's branches, losing its fragrance because of the ravages of time.
Inside the Samson's residence, Arthur Samson, Harrison's father, grabbed a newspaper article in the kitchen while his wife, Maria, prepared breakfast.
"Well, let's see here," he commented as he read the headline of the newspaper article.
"A new era has begun," he said as he continued reading the headline.
"Sam Anthony Austin has taken over the reins of Austin industries...now this seems interesting," he commented.
He caught his wife's attention at the utterance of those words. She paused for a brief moment and looked around to face him.
"What are you reading?" She asked.
"It states that the son of Jeffery Austin has taken over Austin Industries since the passing of his father," he commented.
"Wait, what?" She responded with shock. She untied her apron and walked over to her husband. When she stood by his side, she read the article with him.
"Wow, he continues to amaze me. He has another accomplishment on his resume. I'm beginning to understand why Harry looks up to him."
She walked back to the counter and began to dish up for him. She served him a stack of pancakes with syrup for a sweetening flavor. Around the stack of pancakes was a croissant, three slabs of bacon, and two boiled eggs cut in half. She placed the dish before him and lit the kettle to make his coffee.
"Thank you," he said, grabbing a fork and knife. Once he did that, he ate to his heart's content.
"Honey," she called out to him.
"Yes," he replied while skewing through a small section from the stack of pancakes.
"Do you remember the trials we went through to get to where we are today? I mean, I still can't believe that we made it this far."
After chewing, he grabbed a saviet and wiped his mouth, "Neither can I."
"Just to think that we didn't have enough money to afford a decent wedding, let alone a honeymoon. Soon after getting married, you were unfairly dismissed from your job."
He nodded while she placed her hand on her abdomen and looked through the window. She fixated her gate to the swing that once filled Harrison with joy during his innocent phase.
"Years later, I had a miscarriage with our firstborn, Katherine," she continued.
There was silence at first, then she continued, "Look at us now; years later, we found well-paying jobs. And God gave us an incredible child through Harrison."
She turned around and smiled, "I can't wait for the day when he finally asks a girl out for prom or his first day in college. It would mean the world to me to watch him experience all the things we could not when we were his age. Oh, how time flies quickly."
Harrison came from his bedroom, using the stairs. He was fully dressed and strapped his bag. The mood of the environment then drastically changed.
"Morning, everyone," he said excitedly, running towards the door.
"Woah, Woah, what's this all about?! You haven't eaten your breakfast yet," Maria exclaimed as she placed her hands around her hips.
"Nah, it's cool, ma, besides I'm still gonna eat when I get to school," he replied excitedly.
"Harrison, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. How will you concentrate at school?" She exclaimed, expressing the importance of this matter.
"Don't worry; it's not much of a deal," he said with a shrug. He then approached her and kissed her on the cheeks.
"Love you, bye," He waved at them before opening the door. He closed it and hurried away.
"Teenagers," commented Arthur with a chuckle.

Meanwhile, Sam drove a grey Mercedes-Benz AMG. While on the wheel, he spoke to Philip, his COO. A lid-like object was placed on the dashboard. The device projected a hologram of Philip from his chest to his head. Now Phil had hazel-colored eyes and a beautifully sculpted round, hairless head. His scalp was smooth, mimicking a bowling ball's texture. Furthermore, he wore glasses and had a black beard garnished with grey linings.
"But Mr. Austin, I don't understand. You just came from one of your business trips. Can't you postpone this one for another day?"
"I'm afraid not, Philip. Postponing now would mean Austin Industries is unreliable, and we don't want to tarnish our image, especially not now."
"I understand, sir, but you must be back very soon," he replied urgently.
Sam interrupted him while speaking, "I know, I know. I need to meet up with the Watanabes for some meeting."
Philip cleared his throat and replied to him, "It's not just that, sir. They are adamant about continuing with your father's project..."
When Phillip mentioned his father's name, his expression morphed from jittery to stoic. It's as if he was overcome by anger. At that moment, Phillip's words went on deaf ears.
"Sir, sir, sir!"
Eventually, Sam responded, "Oh...uh...you were saying."
"They want to know about the progress of the Super Sonic train?"
He sighed while turning the steering wheel to the side.
"Let me get this straight; I must continue this train from Dad?" He asked, disgruntled.
"Yes, it's your responsibility, sir. You know that this has been your father's dream for a long time. If you can fulfill his wishes and make this dream a reality, he will be happy from his grave."
He sighed once more before moving the gear lever to the fourth. Naturally, Sam was supposed to be thrilled with the prospect of fulfilling his father's wishes. However, since he found the truth, he became bitter whenever someone brought up his name. Especially since he had until his twenties to tell him, a period where he was mature enough to handle the truth; nevertheless, he sucked it up and considered fulfilling his wishes.
"I'll look into this sometime later."
"Please do, Mr. Austin. We are all counting on you."

Queens High
It was break time, and Harrison rushed out of the classroom and went to the basketball court. Some of his male schoolmates practiced basketball on the court to grease their wheels and avoid complacency.
He walked around the court with his hands in his pockets. He looked at the time on his watch, "Okay, Mya, where are you?" He muttered while his nerves tied his insides into a not.
Harrison stared at his watch because his lunch break was almost up. He realized she stood him up, "Better luck next time, Harry." He muttered and sighed with disappointment.
He started walking until a sweet, tender voice called him from afar, "Harrison!"
He stopped dead in his tracks and turned to look at his back. He was taken aback when he caught sight of a pulchritudinous swan. There she stood, with her hair fluttering to the side, as the wind enshrined its praises all around her while a beguiling aura exuded from her. He slowly approached her, and when he stood before her, he waved and greeted her.
"H-Hi... I love you..." He said, much to her delight.
"I love you too," she replied.
He glanced into her beautiful glimmering hazel eyes and cupped her cheeks. This sent chills down her spine as her cheeks flustered red, for she knew what would come next.
"May I?" He asked.
She nodded and replied, "Yes."
The two shared a kiss as their lips clutched onto each other. Then, she wrapped her arms around his neck, to which he responded by placing his hands around her waist. He felt a warm, tingling sensation. It soon became evident that they both wanted this. As it turns out, Harrison wanted it even more. While they kissed, the boys who were playing basketball stopped playing and approached them. They watched in awe while more of their peers joined in. This continued until the school witnessed this and showered them with praise and claps.
"Wait a go, Harrison," Mikey shouted from the crowd.
Joseph joyfully shook one of his schoolmates on the shoulders. Once he shook his fellow mate, he pointed at Harrison as the latter followed his gaze to the scene, "You see right there, that's my boy, Harrison."
"Harrison, did you hear me?" Mya shouted.
He shook his head and snapped out of his train of thought.
"Y-Yeah...Yeah, I heard you." He said, still suffering from the effects of his fantasy.
"I'm so sorry that I showed up late for our meeting," she said sincerely.
"Nah, it's no biggie... I mean, I wasn't here early I... I, uh... I arrived... I... I arrived a... A uh... A few minutes ago," He stammered after failing to formulate a proper sentence since he was mesmerized by her beauty.
Mya smiled at his stammering; she found it cute and humorous.
"So... Is that all, 'cause I have to go back to class... I'll be writing a test in the next couple of minutes?" She inquired.
"Yeah, that's all."
She nodded and walked away.
"Mya, wait..." He said, stretching his right hand toward her. She was far from him, and he couldn't reach her. Fortunately, she looked up and turned to face him.
"what's up?" She inquired with her hands tucked in her pockets.
First, he glanced at the floor briefly and pursed his lips. He courageously expressed his intention and looked up, "How about I take you out this Saturday?"
Mya looked at him gobsmacked, trying to digest what he asked her.
"Nah, forget it's a... It's a bad idea..."
"Okay, I'll see you this Saturday. By the way, I'll text you."
His jaw dropped because he couldn't believe she had accepted his invitation instantly, "Really? Cause you shouldn't have..." He replied, still perplexed.
"It's not a big deal since you're my guide," she said with a smile. He chuckled lightly to himself.
"So... How are you gonna get my numbers?" He asked.
"Don't worry about that. I know a few people who can take care of something like that."

The Following Day
Harrison woke up and looked at the digital clock. It read 09:05 am. He stretched his hands and yawned.
"This is going to be an awesome day!" He shouted.
He kicked the bed sheets off his bed and went to the bathroom. He took a shower and sang Crazy in Love by Beyonce. Although he was in his element, his father passed by the bathroom and heard a terrifying screech echo from the realm of the bathroom. With shock, his eyes widened, and he knocked on the door.
"Harry, is that you?"
"Yeah, it's me, Dad!" He responded excitedly.
He gaped his mouth and silently commented, "I thought there was a dying rat in the bathroom."
Sometime later, Harrison went downstairs and found his parents having breakfast. They had a plate of scrambled eggs with a pair of toasted sliced bread and sausages.
"Good morning, everyone," he waved at them as he gushed down the stairs.
"Ah, Harrison, my boy," Arthur said as he skewed through a piece of toasted bread with a knife.
Harrison opened the microwave and took out his plate. He sat with them around the table and dug in.
"Finally, you joined us for breakfast. I thought I'd have to tie you around the chair with a rope, young man."
After placing a fork in his mouth, he began chewing. He grabbed a saviet and wiped his mouth. Once he swallowed, he spoke.
"Nah, it's a Saturday. It's my day to relax."
Arther placed his mug between his lips and sipped his coffee. Once he had swallowed, he put the cup aside and grabbed his fork and knife.
"So tell us, Harrison, do you have any plans for today? Perhaps you're going to meet up with a special lady?"
He choked on his food after hearing that. He coughed persistently while his mother patted his back. Once he had cleared his throat, he rubbed his neck and answered.
"How did you know about that..."
"Well, you sure you look excited today. I mean, I heard you sing in the shower. And usually, that's not your kind of thing," he said as he directed his butter knife at him.
"Well, um... I wouldn't call it a date."
Maria clapped excitedly, "Ooh, my baby boy is going out on a date."
"No, it's not a date, per se. We're just going to hang out, that's all."
"So when are you gonna bring your girlfriend over?" Arther inquired.
Just as he was about to answer, a knock was heard on the door.
"Are you expecting someone this early, Maria?" Arther inquired.
"No, not really."
"I'll go get it," he said as he got up from his chair and raced toward the door. When he opened it, a nuke was dropped on him.
"Sweet Neptune? Wha...? What...? What are you doing here?" Harrison asked.
Before him stood the great Samual Anthony Austin, he was paralyzed with shock, for he thought that never in a million years would his role model knock on his door.
Sam smiled at him and said, "Hi, I hope to meet a boy named Harrison."
