*Chapter Twenty Six* {Brave New World}

"You know, you don't have to help me set this up" Jeremy says looking towards his boyfriend. He takes a moment to simply stare at him. He was wearing jeans with a black tank top. His muscles flex as he moves his arms and Jeremy found it very hard to look away. Christian smirks catching his stare.
"If you think you're leaving my sight any time soon, you're terribly mistaken" Christian says giving him a wink when Jeremy's gaze finally meets his. Jeremy blushes slightly and tries to contain a smile. "Besides, I figured if I helped you we'd get done faster and be able to just do something fun" Christian shrugs.
Jeremy grins and goes back to setting up one of the booths for the carnival. While they were setting up Jeremy notices Damon off in the distance. Christian notices Jeremy's attention is elsewhere and follows his gaze. The moment he finds Damon Christian growls angrily. Damon rolls his eyes and disappears.
"I don't want you going near him" Christian says looking at Jeremy. Jeremy doesn't answer right away, his gaze stares where Damon was.
"Don't worry, I won't" Jeremy says unconvincingly as his eyes wander around in search for the older Salvatore. Christian reaches and grabs Jeremy's forearm making the teenager look up at him.
"Look, I get it" Christian mutters staring into his eyes seriously. "You want revenge, you want to get back at him." Christian shrugs and continues to give him a stern look. "He'll tear you apart, babe, you won't get the drop on him." He warns but can still see a hidden look of determination in his eyes. "Don't go after him" He practically growls tightening his grip around him.
"I'm not" Jeremy insists but Christian can see right through him.
"Don't lie to me, Jeremy" Christian says making Jeremy's confidence dampen. "Promise me" Christian growls. "I got him enough for you, didn't I?"
"Fine" Jeremy gives in. "I promise I'll stay away from him" Christian relaxes and kisses him softly.
"Thank you" Christian whispers kissing his forehead. His lips linger there for a moment. "I'll make it up to you" Christian smirks winking at him.
"Oh, yeah? I'll hold you too it" Jeremy smirks. Christian grins letting his arm go. Christian sends him a wink and returns to finishing up the booth. Jeremy watches him for a few more moments before helping him.
The two of them worked together and got everything done fairly quickly. Christian treated him to some food at one of the booths as the two waited for night to fall and the place to gain more attention. By the time things started to pick up Christian had shrugged on one of his leather jackets that Jeremy hasn't seen before but wouldn't mind seeing again.
"I've never been to a carnival" Christian admits as they walk through the crowd, pass the booths with no destination in mind just simply wanting to be together.
"What? Really?" Jeremy asks looking up at him. Christian shrugs looking around.
"Never really cared to go to one" Christian explains. "I can get all the guys I could ever want from parties I would throw myself and at clubs"
"Still, I find it surprising you never came to one" Jeremy tells him.
"They always looked so... coupley" Christian shrugs. "Before you I was never one to go on actual dates and hold a steady boyfriend"
"I remember" Jeremy says sarcastically. Christian smiles kissing the side of his head grabbing his hand. Their fingers naturally intertwine.
"I'm glad my first time is with you" Christian mutters to him giving his hand a light squeeze. Jeremy grins and pulls him toward a game. Christian laughs but plays along.
They played various games throughout the night. Sometimes Christian would let Jeremy win and sometimes he couldn't. After a while they had to go back to Christian's mustang to put their winnings away so they didn't have to carry them around.
"Come on, I want to get some caramel corn" Jeremy says as he closes the passenger door trapping their stuffed animals inside. He turns to Christian when he doesn't answer only to see him looking into the distance. "What? What is it?"
"Blood" Christian tells him quietly. "A lot of it"
"Someone hurt?" Jeremy asks looking in the direction that he's looking in but doesn't see anything. Christian doesn't answer as he listens for a clue on what's going on.
"Get away from me! You killed me!" A familiar female voice reaches Christian's ears making him even more confused and curious.
"No, no, no, no, Caroline, that wasn't me" Christian hears Elena say frantically. "You know that, that was Katherine" Elena tries to explain. Christian's ears practically perk at the sound of Katherine's name.
"Chris, what's going on?" Jeremy asks snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Something's going on with your sister and one of her friends" Christian tells him.
"Elena? Is she alright?" Jeremy asks instantly wanting to go make sure she was alright. Jeremy may be annoyed with her with how she treats Christian but she's his sister.
"I don't know" Christian answers honestly not knowing who's blood he's smelling.
"Come on" Jeremy says pulling Christian towards the direction his head is pointed in but Christian doesn't move.
"I don't know what's going on, I'm not taking you with me" Christian growls.
"She's my sister" Jeremy tells him. "I have to know she's alright" Christian sighs in annoyance at Jeremy's persistence. When Jeremy's hand leaves Christian's and the teenager begins walking off on his own Christian snaps out of his daze.
"Jeremy, stop" Christian says speeding in front of him. "Get in the car, I'll check it out and come back"
"No-"
"Get in the car, Jeremy!" Christian snapped standing chest-to-chest with him. Jeremy glare wanting to argue but Christian was already gone.
"Damon, she's my friend" Elena stress as Christian arrives. The middle brother looks at the dead body to Caroline who has blood covering her mouth. Christian knew she was a vampire and figured Caroline had Katherine to thank for that. He then notices Damon standing in front of Elena with a wooden stake.
"Whatever happens, it's on you" Damon warns lowering his arm. He then glances at Christian who glares at him. Damon sighs pressing his lips together. Deep down he hated the fact that Christian was so pissed at him.
"Caroline?" Bonnie asks drawing Christian's attention.
"It's ok, come on" Stefan says gently to a very freaked out Caroline.
"No, you're not" Bonnie whispers shaking her head. "You can't be" Bonnie grabs Caroline's arm her magic confirming the fact that Caroline's now a vampire.
"Bonnie?" Caroline cries but Bonnie just walks away. Stefan keeps a tight grip on Caroline and takes her to the bathroom where he can clean her up and calm her down.
"Always causing trouble aren't you, Katherine?" Christian mumbles. Elena turns to him and then looks past him. Christian frowns his eyebrows and turns. His anger skyrockets when he sees Jeremy.
"I thought I told you to get in the car" Christian growls clenching his fist.
"I wanted to make sure Elena was alright" Jeremy says.
"She's fine, it's not her blood" Christian snipped walking over to the dead body. "Guess I'll be the good guy tonight" He says slinging the body over his shoulder effortlessly. "I'm going to bury him, by the time I'm done you best be either in your room or mine" Christian says to him sternly before disappearing in the woods.
"What happened?" Jeremy asks. Elena sighs rubbing her face.
"Katherine happened" Elena sighs. "She turned Caroline into a vampire"
"What's gonna happen to her?" Jeremy asks.
"Stefan's gonna watch after her" Elena tells him. Jeremy nods slowly. "How are you?" She asks hopeful that he'll talk to her.
"I'm fine" He says awkwardly. "Happy... Happy with Christian" Elena slowly nods.
"Look, I know I haven't been the greatest when it comes to you and Christian"
"You've been hypocritical" Jeremy deadpans. "Giving me shit for being with Christian and Christian shit for being with me when you're with Stefan"
"I know, I know" Elena sighs. "I'm sorry"
"I'm not the one you should be sorry too" Jeremy tells her. "You're been a bitch to Christian, if you're saying sorry say sorry to him. You make things good between the two of you or at least more civil and we're good"
"Ok" Elena nods.
"He's really not that bad, Elena" Jeremy tells her. "He's done nothing worse than what Stefan's done"
"I know" Elena says softly. "It's just... You're my baby brother, you're one of the only people I have left. I just want to protect you"
"Christian keeps me safe," Jeremy tells her. "If I had actually stayed dead then Christian would have killed Damon, I had to convince him not too"
"He's pretty protective, isn't he?"
"Very" Jeremy nods. "There's no one better for me. I don't have to explain why I'm with him or why I love him, you just have to accept it"
"Ok, I'll talk to him" Elena assures him. "I just want things to be ok between us"
"Like I said, make things better between the two of you and we'll be good" Jeremy says before walking away from her. Elena sighs hopeful to have a better relationship with Jeremy.
"So, how long are you gonna be pissed at me?" Damon asks stopped not far from where Christian is digging the dead man a grave.
"You killed the person that means the most to me, I'd say a while" Christian says stabbing the ground with the shovel.
"He didn't even stay dead" Damon says throwing his hands up in the air. "He has his ring, I saw the damn thing before I snapped his neck"
Christian speeds out of the grave and slams Damon up against a tree. Damon grunts while Christian grips his throat tightly. Christian growls while Damon looks at him with annoyance.
"I don't give a damn if you saw he had the ring on or not" Christian growls. "You shouldn't have snapped his neck either way, you shouldn't have even considered it"
"I'm sorry" Damon says as sincerely as he can.
"Sorry isn't going to cut it, Damon" Christian says reluctantly letting his brother go. "You go near Jeremy again and I won't even hesitate to rip your heart out. Jeremy won't be able to save you next time" Christian warns walking over to the grave. He picks up his leather jacket. "You finish the grave" Christian snips before speeding off. Damon sighs walking over to the shovel and picks it up.
"Damn it" Damon mutters thrusting the shovel into the ground angrily.
"So, you do listen to me" Christian says walking into his room at the boarding house seeing Jeremy on the bed tapping on his phone.
"When I want too" Jeremy teases with a grin but Christian isn't exactly in a joking mood. Christian wraps his hands around his ankles and yanks Jeremy down the bed before appearing above them.
"You do know you didn't just put your life at risk but Caroline's" Christian tells him. "If she moved one step towards you I would have killed her" Christian says. "When I tell you to do something, do it"
"Yes, sir" Jeremy whispers making Christian smirk.
"Good boy" Christian mutters before kissing him.
