FULL OF CHOICES

Mephiles woke up at his new room in the hospital the next morning. He look to his right and saw Maria and Silver talking to each other on the sofa, they seem to not notice him. He decided to sit up but unfortunately he wasn't fully recovered yet, so he sighed and laid down again.

The other two in the room finally noticed him from the sound of him laying on his pillow.

"Mephiles!" They both shouted and immediately stood next to his bed.

"Hey how do you feel? Do you need anything?" Silver asked worryingly.

Mephiles reached his hand up to his muzzle and became tense, "I need my mask first..."

"Here." Maria gave him his mask and he wore it. She noticed his quills soften after his muzzle was covered and she thought it was cute. Of course she couldn't say it to him.

"Anything else?" Silver asked.

"I'm fine...just a little dizzy and weak. Where's Shadow?"

"He's at home with Sonic and the others, Maria and I stayed here with you." He smiled and held his hand.

"The doctor predicted that you'll be out of here in two or three days, so just keep resting until you feel better." Maria explained. She went to the mini fridge under the counter and took out a small container. "I packed your food. Are you hungry?"

"Ah, I'll eat later. Thank you, Maria." Mephiles declined.

He tried to sit up on the bed once again, Silver noticed the struggle so he helped him by raising the backrest. He set it to an angle that was just right for his mate to lean back on.

"Where's our egg?"

"It's at your home, Sonic and Shadow are taking care of it while we're here." Silver said while fixing up his blanket, "it's safe, don't worry."

"I...I see..." Mephiles sighed, "I can't remember much after I took so many bullets. I'm glad you're safe, though." He said while gently brushing his hand against Silver's muzzle.

The smaller hedgehog blushed and became nervous. It had been a while since they were that close, it made him so happy that he wagged his tail. Maria saw this and she giggled from the cute scene.

Mephiles tapped the spot next to him, Silver noticed his gesture and sat beside his mate. Once he sat there, Mephiles wrapped his arm around his waist to make sure that they were really close to each other. Maria couldn't handle the cuteness and decided to go outside, telling them that she wanted to look for snacks for herself.

It was just the two hedgehogs in the room now. Silver definitely enjoyed that they're alone in the room and started rubbing his head against his mate's muzzle while purring. Mephiles was a bit surprised but he loved the soft purrs.

"We haven't been together in a while...I miss this." Silver admitted shyly.

"Me too." Mephiles smiled under his mask, "I can't wait for us to be back home with our egg."

"I can't wait for that too." Silver giggled, "do you think we'll ever get our own place? Maybe with Sonic and Shadow and our two new friends as our neighbors?"

"That sounds nice, but we still need to think about that." Mephiles said and gently brush his quills, "you and Sonic were rescued just recently, I want you to feel at home in the village before we go anywhere."

"Ah, you're right...Maria's pretty nice though, so I don't mind staying for some yime." The younger one said and hugged the older hedgehog, "just as long as we're together."

Mephiles chuckled and used his one hand to rub on Silver's back. They both gave each other the sense of comfort that they needed ever since they were separated. It unconsciously made Mephiles to heal faster due to his mood.

Back at the house, Dani was knocking on the door and waited for someone to open it. As expected Shadow was the one to greet him behind the door.

"Hey, is the green hedgehog still here?"

"Scourge? Yeah." Shadow nodded.

"I need to see him but I also want to talk to you, can I come in?" Dani asked.

"Alright." He opened the door broader to let the adult human in. Shadow called for Scourge who was staying at the bedroom with Fleetway.

"Hey, Dani's here to see us."

"Already?" Fleetway perked his ears up, "let's go, Scourge." He flew up and held his mate's hand.

"Wait- what if this is a bad idea?"

"No it's not. I'm sure we can trust him." Fleetway smiled and dragged him out. Scourge only sigh and followed him out of the room to see Dani at the living room.

Everyone gathered and sat on the couch, except Sonic who was still asleep.

"Um..." Dani stared at the three hedgehogs in front of him, "okay, so, first of all I need to discuss the medicine that Annie used to make from your kind's blood. Shadow, if you're willing to give your blood to me I'll make the cure for Maria. I might take from Mephiles too, but I wanna know what you think first." He explained.

"All that matters is that Maria is safe. If I can give her what she needs then I'll do it. We'll have to wait for Mephiles to be back from the hospital if we want his opinion, though." Shadow simply answered while folding his arms.

Dani smiled at him, "alright." He said then turning to the other two hedgehogs. "Now for you two, especially you Scourge."

Scourge just looked away and sighed, he was not prepared at all.

"I can help you get your fertility back, but I'll have to do a serious surgery on you." The human stated.

"How would you guarantee that it'll be a success? That my mate will be safe?" Fleetway asked.

"I promise it will be okay. I've done this type of surgery 5 times before."

"But was it with Cross Hedgehogs?" Fleetway fold his arms and  furrowed his brows.

"No, but I've also studied your kind for more than 10 years now. I'm confident I can do it." Dani smiled reassuringly.

The glowing hedgehog sat down next to Scourge and wrap his arm around his shoulder, "what do you think, dear?"

"I'm not sure...do you trust him, Fleet?"

"I do. If he breaks my trust I get to kill him." He said and turned to smile at the human, "if you do this surgery, you have his life on your hands. So if anything goes wrong it's only fair for me to take your life too, right?"

Dani, like having no purpose in life anymore besides being the Cross Hedgehog's vet, smiled back and nodded.

"You sure?" Shadow asked confusingly.

"Yes I'm sure." Dani replied.

Scourge hold his arms together and stared at Dani with an unsure expression. " fine...I'll do it." He mumbled.

"Alright. I'll have to prepare for it so we'll do the surgery tomorrow morning. Make sure you don't eat or drink anything starting tonight at 8 PM." Dani said and got up from the couch.

"I can do that." Scourge nodded.

"Great." He smiled. "Once I'm finished with the surgery, I can start working on that medicine for Maria."

Shadow nodded at him. After making sure of everything, Dani then left the house. The three hedgehogs began to prepare themselves for what they have been scheduled for, though Shadow didn't really feel too nervous about it because he was only going to get his blood extracted. Scourge, on the other hand, tried to calm himself down while his mate was comforting him.
