Chapter 10: Scotland's Plan
A red-head waited at his bar, cleaning his mugs with a clean piece of cloth. He puts it aside and looks at his collection of beers and wine, and anything alcoholic that is drinkable. His pride and joy, liquor.
Yesterday was rowdy, Germany came with a fake Prussia and they had a beer drinking contest. The fake Prussia is an illusion, and sometimes one of the Kirkland brothers would disguise themselves with magic to look like the missing Nation and take their role.
Scotland slammed his fist to the counter, angered. That little punk, who does he think is?! Ordering me around and using magic for this reason. That brat will pay!
The door opens and it hits the bell, signalling that someone has entered. "Didn't you birdbrains read the sign?! It says we're closed!" Scotland yells before looking.
When his eyes met a raven-haired Nation with emerald eyes, he didn't even think of apologizing or explaining. He won't apologize, he won't say things twice, and he won't be treating people so easily.
"Hmp, Bulgaria. First Nation to come, take a seat." Scotland glances at the chair near the bar counter.
"Hello Scotland." Bulgaria smiles, taking his seat nervously. This Nation can be tricky. He nods when he means no, and he shakes his head for a yes.
Bulgaria, an excellent fire-user. He excels in pyro spells. Though his main reason to using fire spells is to banish evil creatures and diseases. The country Bulgaria also has wizards and they are known in the wizardry world but Bulgaria is much older than the wizardry world, thus having a different kindo of magic that originates from Bulgarian belief.
Scotland smirked. He and Romania had a friend-rival relationship back in Hogwarts. Bulgaria excels in potion making, cursing, and voodoo magic. He's also good at quiditch.
Bulgaria is a quiet Nation, unless he is with someone he's close to. He doesn't express himself very much, but he's friendly.
Later, they heard the door creak and the sound of the bell ringing. Looking at the door, they see that it was Japan.
"Scotland, Bulgaria." Japan bows to both of them, then closes the door and stood behind Bulgaria.
"Take a sit." Bulgaria smiles, gesturing the seat beside him. Japan thanked him and sat.
Japan, his magic is totally different from ours. He exorcises demons and evil spirits. Not only that, he knows a wide variety of spells just by using a strip of paper and a paintbrush. Japan wouldn't call it magic but powers instead.
Scotland smirked once again. While Bulgaria and Japan tries to get to know each other, Scotland waits for the rest by wiping bottles and mugs. Looking at the wall clock, Scotland sees that it's almost ten in the morning. Ten minutes and the meeting would start.
Eight minutes before ten, someone enters. He had brown hair and hazelnut eyes, his hair tied to a ponytail, leaving bangs at the side of his head.
"China." Scotland points his chin towards the seat by the counter.
"I'm glad I was able to make it aru." China seats beside Japan, feeling exhausted. "I'm over four-thousand years old, give me a break."
"I know how it feels. My backpains was triggered on my way here, and I was glad that I didn't collapse." Japan sighs.
Bulgaria looks at the two, confused. They look so young, energetic, and cheerful. How can they have body pains?
Scotland couldn't help another smirk. China, he may be old but his superstitious beliefs didn't disappear. His magic is also different from ours. I even don't know what exactly is his magic. Others say its necromancy, something more spiritual, the elements, who knows.
As the clock strikes ten, the door bursts open, catching everyone's full attention in an instant. Scotland was about to yell to treat the bar nicely but stopped when he saw the last three Nations that they were waiting for.
Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. The last three Nations participating in the meeting.
(What it felt like)
(What it's actually like)
"Take a seat." Scotland says, putting down the cleaning cloth and putting back the bottle of wine to its shelf.
On their way to the counter, Russia spoke. "Vodka, if you don't mind." He smiled, taking a seat after Belarus and Ukraine. Belarus sat beside Bulgaria, next to her is Russia, and located at the edge is Ukraine.
Scotland hands over a bottle of vodka, not minding it. Looking over to the former Soviet Union, a sadistic smile formed on his face.
Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. The three have almost the same superstitions. All I know is that Ukraine is somewhat complicated to handle with when it comes to the supernatural, especially after the Chernobyl disaster. Belarus, what people fear most is her personality and lust than her magic. I don't know anything about her power or magic. And the strongest magic-user of the three, Russia. He can do several complex spells and simple ones but his forte is cancellation of magic. He can repel curses, quite a scary man to go against.
"Listen up!" Scotland raised his voice, going out behind the counter as he starts to walk around. The present Nations listens to him, their eyes following him wherever he goes.
"You may not know this, but several of your fellow Nations are fake." Scotland started. "Where are the original ones? They turned to kids, and has enrolled in a school of sorcery and witchcraft, Hogwarts."
"Belgium was right about some Nations not being real." Ukraine said, crossing her arms. She remembered Belgium, looking at three Nordic Countries and saying something about magic.
"Expected no less from Belgium. She basically conducted execution of witches back in the old days." Scotland pointed out, then goes back to the topic.
"Who are those Nations? And why would they do that?" Japan asked, confused.
"Here are the Nations that has been turned to kids. England, Norway, Romania, Prussia, Hungary, Austria, Denmark, Iceland, America, and Canada. From what the punk informed me, the non-magic Nations messed with their magic room and ended up turning themselves to kids. They needed ingredients and most are found in the magic world. They enrolled in Hogwarts for a place to stay while the Magic Trio searches for the ingredients." Scotland explained. He doesn't know if he should be shocked that he actually explained something that has more than three sentences.
"Kolkolkolkol. They made a mess of things." Russia smiles, taking a gulp of the vodka with a pale skin color because Belarus is clinging to his arm with a terrifying glare.
"So I was thinking, why not join the fun? Why not mess around a little? Why not use magic and anything supernatural for just this one time?" Scotland encourages them.
"What is your goal exactly?" Bulgaria had the courage to ask.
Scotland smirked. "To mess with England, and to rival with his group." Scotland was frank.
"I'm in. It means that I get to squish America a little, da?" Russia says and Scotland nodded. Russia grins and hums a tune, swaying his feet back and forth alternately like a child.
"If big brother's going, I'm going." Belarus stated, not looking towards Scotland as she's concentrated on Russia.
"As a big sister, it is my responsibility to watch over them. So, it means I'm going as well." Ukraine smiles. "And it sounds nice to do some magic again."
"Russia, do you remember the magic spell I taught you when it was cold and you just came from-"
"Big sister!" Russia's cheeks went pink, not wanting to remember or imagine it.
"If I get to experience british magic, why not?" Japan pointed out.
"If Japan's going... I guess I'm going as well." China says, not minding to join.
Bulgaria wants to decline the offer because of Scotland's goal. It was plain mean and Bulgaria didn't want to upset anyone. But knowing that everyone joins Scotland's group and the fact that everyone is looking at him -especially Scotland's glare and Russia's cruel childish smile- Bulgaria sighs.
"I'm in."
Scotland laughs sadistically. Everything is going accordingly to plan. You're screwed, Iggy.
"Why can't I ask Italy to join?" Japan asks, raising his hand.
"Because he's a religious Nation. He's brother is Vatican. He doesn't believe in magic. All he does is exorcise ghosts and demons, if ever there was one. But all the purifying work goes to Vatican." Scotland says.
"There's only seven of us. There are ten of them. Isn't that unfair?" Russia pointed out. He can't help it. Communist habits. Equality for all.
"Majority of them doesn't even know magic. Us seven have been using magic since ages. It's fair."
Scotland tells the Nations to get comfortable as he walks out the bar through the backdoor that reveals a lake that leads to the port. He sends a howler to England and after recording, he gives it to his messenger pet, a white cat.
"Scratch his eyes out and make him bleed if he didn't follow the reading order. Go." Scotland pets his cat and she left, going on a journey.
Hearing footsteps behind him, he looks back. It's Japan.
"I admire you, Scotland." He says.
"Hah? Where did that came from?"
"The truth is... You want to push them to their limits in order to acquire power like never before. Through pushing their limits, the non-magic Nations will acquire their power." Japan says, expecting a scolding and a bomb of foul words. To his shock, none of it arrived.
"Hmp. Think what you want to think." Scotland leaves, litting his cigarette.
Japan stares at his disappearing figure. "He should be true to himself sometimes." He sighed.
"I agree to that, aru."
Turning to the side, he sees everyone. They were listening all the time?!
"Russia wanted to see what you wanted with Scotland. Belarus followed him, and I followed them." Ukraine smiles.
"China needed support for his aching back." Bulgaria sweatdropped.
Japan smiles in joy. This group isn't bad afterall.
"So, we're going to transform to kids as well? I'm definitely in, bring me back to my youth, aru!" China says, and everyone heard his back crack.
They all laughed with him. This is going to be wild ride.
"Although, the spells we have can only change your appearance, not your back pains." Bulgaria pointed out, which made China cry in despair.
The Nations laughed more loudly.
