Brice's eyes flickered up, looking at the massive building that stood tall and proud. Fyre Academy, an academy that teaches magic in however way that fits the students, whether that be a private master or classroom teaching, Fyre Academy teaches almost every magic type out there, but lately, due to the war, most of the masters who taught there are out on the front lines, leaving classroom teaching to being the only option left for the students.
Adrian was sat in the back of the wagon, Seto laying on a blanket, asleep with Brice sat on the driver's seat holding the reins of the horse. Adrian looks at the building, smiling a bit.
"Even after a few dozen years of working in that building, I'm still impressed by it," Adrian said. Brice nodded, agreeing.
"Honestly, the Fyre brothers make me feel worthless for just having a normal house while they have built a castle with a town at the base of it," Brice said smiling. Adrian nods, agreeing as well.
"Yep, they aren't some of the best wizard builders for nothing," Adrian said. As they drew into the town, Adrian noticed Seto starting to stir, he touches Seto's shoulders. Seto groans. "Shh...get some rest." Seto pants a few times, he felt nauseated and very dizzy, he touched his head, he could hear excited voices, but he ignored their words since his head was throbbing in pain and the ground vibrating underneath him wasn't helping his case. Adrian smiled at the apprentices. While a lot of people lived in the castle, some lived in the town.
"Master Adrian! Brice!" They said cheerfully. Brice smiled at them. Adrian looked at apprentices, gently pulling Seto's hand away from his face. As they went through the gate and into the courtyard of the castle, Brice had requested from a guard to get a stretcher for Seto. Brice gave the reins to an apprentice, climbing into the wagon as the cheerfulness left the apprentices finally noticing Seto. Brice sat on his knees beside Seto, waiting for the stretcher to come.
"Is he awake?" Brice asked Adrian. Adrian shrugged his shoulders.
"I honestly don't know, he was two minutes ago." He said. Brice looked at Seto, noticing his shallow steady breathes in and out. Brice nods.
"I think he is," Brice said.
"Is he okay?" An apprentice asked. Brice looked at the apprentices who looked worried, crowding near the wagon looking in at Seto. Brice's eyes soften.
"Yeah, he just needs time to rest and recover, he isn't gonna be himself for awhile, so give him some time and space," Brice explained. Brice looked towards the doors as they opened, he smiled a bit seeing a figure following two guards carrying a stretcher. "Hey Tom, how are you doing?" Tom smiles at them. Master Thomas Beer, or more known as Tom, he is one of the Fyre Brothers, one of the people in charge of Fyre Academy, dressed in dark-colored clothing with electric blue, a black robe as well. His blue eyes looked down at Seto as the guards put the stretcher into the wagon, climbing up inside.
"So...what's the story here? What happened?" Tom asked. Adrian looked at Tom.
"Audra, she and Aaron both attacked him, Audra cut his right eye," Adrian said. Tom nods a bit.
"Blind?" He asked. Brice shrugged his shoulders, looking at Tom.
"We'll know if he is blind or not when the bandages are taken off," Brice said. Tom nods, he leans against the wagon.
"I haven't told Jade yet, we only got your message about three hours ago." He said. Brice nods, looking at the guards put Seto in the stretcher.
"I'll tell her, where is she?" Brice asked.
"In class, should be Magic History. You know where that is?" He asked. Brice nods.
"Room 346, right?" He asked. Tom nods.
"Yep," Tom said as Brice gets out of the wagon.
"Make sure they change Seto's bandages," Brice said before he went inside. He went up to the third floor, going down a hall to room 346. He looks at it, seeing the class inside going on. He knocked on the door gently, opening the door. "Sorry to interrupt, Professor." The class went quiet, Brice walking up to the front, noticing Jade looking at him. In a whisper, Brice talked to the professor.
"I need to steal Jade from your class, it's about Seto," Brice whispered to him.
"Bad or good."
"Bad." The professor nods, looking at Jade.
"Jade, you're excused from class today." The professor said. Jade collected her things, following Brice out and once they were in the hallway, Jade spoke.
"What's going on? It is Seto?" She asked worriedly. Brice turned to her, grabbing her arms, stopping her as he looked at her blue eyes. Jade Roselyn Williams, a fifth-year apprentice, she's Master Harvey's apprentice, baring dark colored clothing with a green scarf that her father gave her, she is pretty used to be independent after five years of being under Seto's teaching. But since she has been under Seto's teachings for five years, she and he have formed an almost sibling-like relationship, making her very worried the moment that Brice entered that classroom. Brice gripped her arms gently.
"He did get hurt, but before you freak out, he's going to be just fine," Brice said calmly. Jade smiled a bit.
"That's a relief, but I want to see him. Where is he? At the front lines?" She asked. Brice shook his head, letting go of her arms.
"No, the council has given him a three-week leave," Brice said. Jade tilted her head a bit confused, her eyes widen.
"Wait, that means that I would--"
"Ashton won't let the council force you to replace Seto on the front lines. Seto was very clear that he doesn't want you to be anywhere near the battlefield. Besides, you have four more years left before you are technically qualified for a warzone." He said. Jade looked away from him. Brice looked at the stuff in her arms. "Here, let me help you, I'll take you to him, he's asleep right now, so try not to wake him up, okay? He needs rest in order to recover." Jade nods as Brice took her books from her, leading her to the infirmary wing. Jade went inside, looking at the beds that were lined up along the walls till she spotted her master laying in one. She went over to him.
"Seto." She said looking at the bandages covering his eyes. She looked at Tom. "Why are his eyes covered?" Tom looked at Brice as he came up beside Jade, setting her stuff on a table.
"Luckily his eye will heal, so he won't be half blind. But he still has a cut on his eye, that is enough to make you really sick. And Adrian left already." Tom said. He looked at Jade. "The healer said that he'll be okay, but I'm gonna warn you now, Jade, he's gonna be unlike himself for a while. An eye injury is very risky to heal with magic, so it is better to let it heal on its own, so he's gonna be depending on you for a bit. But Brice and they can always look--" Jade shakes her head.
"No, I haven't seen him for a month, I can take care of him when I'm not in class. Brice and Issac can when I am in class." Jade said. Tom smiled a bit.
"You sure?" He asked. Jade nods. He looked at Brice. "Well, she made up her mind quick." Brice nods, he looked at him.
"How's Rose doing? She doing any better?" He asked Tom. Tom loses his smile, looking at Seto and back at Jade.
"I gotta get back to work, I'll let the professors in your classes know, you are excused from the rest of your classes today," Tom said. Jade smiles.
"Thanks, Master Tom." She asked. Tom gives her a small smile before he leaves. Jade pulls a chair over, sitting beside Seto. Brice looked at Jade.
"So...not gonna answer my question then," Brice said. Jade shakes her head.
"She's doing the same as she was the last time you saw her. And try not to bring her up around Master Tom, it puts him in a bad mood." Jade said.
"Yeah, it does." A voice spoke. Brice turned halfway, looking at Byron. He smiled.
"Ready for graduation?" He asked him. Byron smiled and nodded.
"Oh definitely, but I want to give Shadye the chance to be there, so I moved it to next month." He said. Jade smiled a bit.
"Don't worry, he will be there. Kinda like how Master Phil promised Tara that he would make it to her graduation next week. He is gonna be able to go, right Brice? She'll be destroyed if he doesn't show up?" She asked Brice. Brice nods.
"Yeah, Phil doesn't break his promises. But since Seto was hurt, Shadye might be pulled from his mission early just so you know, Byron." Brice said making Byron smile.
"Great, I mean...that's terrible that Master Harvey was hurt...but great that my master is coming back, I haven't seen him for two months. It will be nice seeing him again and graduate at the same time that Tara does." Byron said. Brice nods, agreeing.
"And would make things easier for everyone else," Brice said making the two smile. Seto groaned, his hand touched his face, Jade stood, moving his hand from his face, she sat on the bed facing him.
"Don't touch your face, Seto," Jade said to him. It took Seto a moment to recognize the voice, his arm bends up, his other hand touching her arm weakly.
"J-Jade," Seto mumbled. Jade smiled a bit.
"Yeah, it's me. Rest up, okay? I'm gonna be looking after you till you are back on your feet again." She said. Seto grumbled, his arm dropped, resting across his stomach. Byron went to the other side of the bed, looking at him. Byron Rowell, an eighth-year apprentice, about to graduate soon, he is Master Shadye's apprentice, wearing mostly dark-colored clothing with curly hair and bright green eyes. Byron is characterized as a helpful and kind person, but he mostly helps the other apprentices due to the fact that he is an eighth year, but even a person like him has his flaws. Seto groaned, feeling uncomfortable and sick, waves of nauseous kept him from going to sleep letting his headache returning making his pain heighten, he touched his head again, Jade moved his hand away.
"Now I wish we had Skylar here," Jade said. Seto coughed, groaning, he wanted to take the bandages off, they were irritating him, his eyes felt sore. "No, stop it, Seto." Brice was gonna step in when Byron grabbed both of Seto's wrists, looking at Jade.
"Skylar is a good silvertongue, but she isn't good enough that she can fool Master Harvey thinking the pain he is feeling doesn't exist," Byron said. He looked at Seto. "Just wait until he falls asleep, there isn't anything we can do for him that we haven't done already, Jade."
"Right." She mumbled. Byron held Seto's wrists so Seto wouldn't touch his face, Jade stayed sat beside him, Brice crossed his arms, looking at the three of them.
"I guess I should go or something, you two clearly have this under control--" Jade looked at him. She shakes her head.
"You don't have to go if you don't want to," She said. Brice shrugged his shoulders.
"I better go, Isaac doesn't know that Seto got hurt, he'll want to know," Brice said. Brice looked at Byron. "Well, you two take good care of him, I'll see you guys later."
"See ya, Brice." Jade and Byron both said as Brice leaves. Seto took a few deep breaths, whimpering as he struggled a bit against Byron's grip, Jade loses her smile. "I hate seeing him like this."
"Yeah, me too," Byron said. Jade glanced at him and back at Seto.
"But he'll be okay. He always is." Jade said.
