Chapter 1

Brice POV~

I walked down the hall, wondering why my commanders had requested a meeting. When I reached the war room, everyone bowed and we got straight to business.

"So what's the reason for this meeting?" I asked them.

"Sir, there are rumors of a powerful Mage living in the unknown lands." One answered.

"He is said to reside in a tower, on the highest peak in those lands. The people refer to him as the Mage of the Tower." Another chimed in.

"And why is this relevant?" I questioned.

"Well sir, all of the people believe that he is hostile because he lives in the unknown lands. We think it is worth checking out, if not only to reassure the citizens." They answered.

I nodded, thinking it over. If he is scaring and worrying the people, then we must solve this problem. People do stupid things when they are scared, and usually when that happens a lot of people get hurt. I also haven't left the castle in a while...

"That's a good idea. I'll leave for his tower at first light, and I'll take the Team Crafted squadron with me." Team Crafted was the name of the group our most skilled warriors were all a part of.

"Yes, sir!" The commanders saluted, and I left to get some sleep and prepare for the journey. I sent a servant to alert Team Crafted, and then I set about gathering supplies.

(~-_-)~ TARDIS time skip to almost at the tower~(-_-~)

We were almost at the top of the peak. According to our information, the tower should be there. Sadly no one could tell because the peak was always surrounded by clouds. When I reached the top, I suddenly found myself in the middle of a cloud bank. Moving forward a bit, the bank suddenly disappeared to reveal a large stone tower with a garden surrounding it. I turned around and saw that there was some sort of wall of clouds, so that it didn't obscure anything inside a certain area. Team Crafted was right behind me, and they looked at the tower in awe.

"Alright, Ty you come with me to scout out the garden. Then we'll whistle to say it is safe or shout if we are in trouble. The rest of you will wait here for one of those." I whispered, and they all nodded. Ty came forward, and I approved of my choice. He was easily the stealthiest, his footsteps making no sound whatsoever. His armor didn't even clink, and I couldn't hear him breathing. "We'll split up. You go around and take the backside of the garden, I'll take the frontside." I told him, and he nodded. He doesn't say much.

We headed off, and as I entered the garden I saw all different kinds of plants. Rare, exotic, even some that were supposed to be extinct. There were lots of herbs, berry bushes, and fruit trees. It was amazing. As I neared the tower, the garden became more maze like, including twists, turns, and forks. Suddenly, I stepped into a small clearing, at the center of which was the tower. It was ringed with Japanese cherry blossom trees, all in bloom. Under one, there was a stone bench, and on that bench sat a boy in a purple and grey robe, reading a book. He had brown hair, and it was held back with a white headband. His hood was up, concealing the rest of his head, and he wore a red creeper face amulet. Suddenly, he looked up and saw me. He gasped, closed his book, and ran into his tower muttering something. The wall opened up in front of him, and slammed shut behind him. I whistled, and the others came running.

I explained what had happened, and we walked to the tower. I pulled out my pickaxe and got to work mining one of the blocks that the sorcerer had moved. The others focused on the same block, and it was broken in less than a minute. We got to work on the other block, and I couldn't help but think about the sorcerer's face. It had looked like he was around my age, and his eyes were an amazing chocolate brown. The block broke, and I was snapped out of my thoughts. I led the way inside, and gaped. The tower was full of floating bookshelves, and ladders were hanging in midair. There was a vibrant hum in the air, telling of great power, and as I watched one of the bookshelves floated to a new location. At the very top, there was a small ladder hanging down from a trapdoor in a glass floor at the top of the tower, and the sorcerer was peering down at us through the glass. He was frowning, and obviously in deep thought. I turned to the others.

"Come on, guys. We have some parkour to do." I said, and they nodded.

Over the next few hours we scaled the bookshelves. The strange part was that whenever one of us slipped and fell, the sorcerer would use magic to catch us and put us back where we had fallen from. Maybe he isn't evil like everyone thinks, but he certainly is powerful.

We were finally below the ladder, and I told the others that I would go first. They protested, but I shut them up with a stern look. I jumped and grabbed the first rung of the ladder, hauling myself upwards to the trapdoor. When I stepped through, I was met by the sorcerer. With a flick of his wrist, the trapdoor slammed shut and locked. I was pushed against the wall, and the sorcerer approached me.

"I was hoping that the parkour would discourage you." He said to me. "It's too bad I have to hurt you now." He summoned up a sword, and held it to my chest. "Goodbye, whoever you are."
