Chapter 4: The Introductions

All Jason could think about was meeting this new girl on the block, What she was like? and Will she be nice? She seemed to be friendly enough when he saw her yesterday when she waved to him.

As he was walking downstairs for breakfast he was thinking about what Jessica said last night about meeting the new neighbors the thought of meeting them was kinda nerve wracking. But soon enough the thought of breakfast derailed his nervous thoughts and replaced them with more pleasant ones.

As he stepped into the kitchen, the smell of waffles, pancakes and bacon wafted towards him and enveloped him. Soon enough he saw waffles bacon and pancakes. With Jessie and Michelle at the table
Making some breakfast soon enough he heard footsteps walking behind him he turned and saw Jackie now up and dressed coming in to the kitchen.

Michelle looked up to see her children coming into the kitchen and greeted them by saying, "Good morning Kids."

"Morning Mom." Jackie and Jason responded in sync. "Breakfast is on the table grab anything you want." Jess said with a smile, gesturing to the kitchen table. "Thanks!" Jackie said with a smile as she and her brother went to the cabinet to grab their plates, when they got them they went to the table to grab some breakfast there was some waffles, pancakes, bacon, biscuits and some fruit. Jackie took some waffles and bacon while Jason took a pancake and a biscuit. Jason went to fridge to get some apple juice and a cup. Meanwhile Jackie went into the pantry to grab some syrup followed by getting some apple juice as well before following him to the table.
Once they got there Jackie poured some of it her waffles and handed the bottle over to Jason who poured it on his pancakes. Soon enough Michelle and Jess came to the table with their own breakfast and they started eating. "What time do you want us to meet the neighbors?" Jackie asked Jess, taking a sip of apple juice. "Oh just around 10:00." Jess responded. Soon enough the Family heard the doorbell ring. "I'll get it." Jess said. She got up and exited the kitchen.

While she was making her way to the front door of the living room Jess wondered who was at the front door today? It wasn't like they were expecting anyone. When she reached the door she looked at the peephole and was surprised at who she saw. It was the girl she saw yesterday moving in the new house next door. She opened the door and there she stood with long dark brown hair with a red hair band a red T-Shirt, with Stars Patterns Black Shorts, black socks and red shoes.

"Oh Hi! How Can I help you?" Jess asked, smiling. "Um Hi I saw your son through my window yesterday." The Girl said, a bit nervously. "Can I meet him? I'd like to get to know someone here." "You're one of the new neighbors here that moved in yesterday aren't you?" Jess asked. The girl nodded yes. "Well this is great we were planning on coming over later today but you can meet him now we're just having breakfast would you like to come in?" Jess asked. "Oh I wouldn't want to intrude." The Girl said. "You're not, you could join us if you like if you hadn't had breakfast already." "Sure I'd love to." The Girl said now smiling. "Well c'mon in." Jess said stepping aside so that the Girl could walk in.

"Oh Hey I can't believe I didn't ask this first but what's your name?" Jess asked the girl as they started to make their way to the kitchen. "My name's Kaitlyn but you can call me Katie." She responded, "What's yours?". "My name's Jessica but call me Jess." Jess said. "Oh! Uh do your parents know you're here?" She asked, wondering to herself why she didn't ask that first.

"They do I asked them if I could come over and they don't mind me having breakfastn here." Katie responded, looking around the house taking in all the sights.

Jess noticed that she was looking all around the living room.
"We can give you a tour around the house if you want after breakfast." Jess said to her kindly.

"I'd Love to. Thank You Jess ." Katie said. "You're Welcome Now Follow me." Jess said walking, Katie followed after her,Taking in the surroundings there were paintings of art and pictures of Jess and the boy she saw yesterday and two other people One of which looked to be their mother and another looked to be a girl version of him so he has a twin sister Katie thought
Soon enough they made it into the kitchen where she saw the boy now with his light brown hair and striking blue eyes He has on a Red shirt with a Large Black Crown Black Nike sweat pants and Socks. His sister had long curly light brown hair and blue eyes. She wore a red shirt with a crown on it similar to her brother and had black leggings . And their mother looked like an older version of the girl with her hair and eyes and was now wearing orange with stripes shirt and dark grey pants. They all looked up to see Jess and her oh well now was the time to introduce herself to the rest she hired they like her like Jess does.
Jason didn't know what to think, he was surprised to see the girl he saw next door yesterday and here she was in the kitchen. Even closer Jason noticed that the girl was even more pretty than he saw her yesterday through his window but now she was in person. Soon enough he heard the voice of Jess snapping him out of his thoughts, "Ok Guys this is Kaitlyn but she prefers to be called Katie she's one of the new neighbors say Hi." She prompted. "Hi Katie My name's Michelle Blake ." Michelle introduced, waving. "I'm Jaqueline Blake but you can call me Jackie." Jackie said, pointing a thumb at herself. "And I'm Jason It's Nice to meet you." Jason shyly said, stretching a hand out in greeting. Katie took his hand and Jason swore that he felt that he got electrocuted and his face burn he could feel her hand which was very soft. As he was shaking her hand he noticed her long dark brown hair and her brown eyes staring back at him Both of which made her look more beautiful he noticed her cheeks were slightly pink as well. Soon enough they let go of each other. Jason noticed his sister staring at him mischievously. And felt trepidation of her teasing him after this.
"Alright Katie you can pick anything you want just grab a plate out of that cabinet. Jess said, gesturing to the cabinet which had the plates in it before turning to Jason. "Jason can you grab one of the chairs from the dining room please?" "Sure." Jason nodded. He walked off to the Dining room it's a large room with light blue wallpaper with the Mona Lisa painting and pictures of him and his family and a painting he did when he was nine years old. The table was a long with 10 total chairs he grabbed one of them and brought it back to them. "Alright where do you want me to place it?" Jason asked. "Put it right between Me and Jess there's enough space for it." Michelle said to him he did so placing it down right in the space his mom told him to. Katie soon enough came back with her food which was a few biscuits and fruit and some apple juice. Katie sat down at the open seat and started enjoying breakfast with the Blakes. After a bit, they started conversing, trying to get to know their guest.

"So Katie what brings you and your family to Gatlinburg?" Michelle asked. "Well my dad decided to settle down here after he retired." Katie told the older woman.

"Oh What'd he retire from?" Jackie asked, cutting a slice with a knife.

"From the Military, He was in the Marines, This is actually the first time we're moving to a place that isn't for a few years." Katie answered after taking a sip of apple juice.

"Well Gatlinburg is a nice place to settle down its a nice and peaceful place and lots to do." Jess said. "Your Dad chose right."
"Thanks." Katie said smiling at her.
"So Um Katie What do you like to do?" Jason asked, he wanted to know her hobbies.

"Yeah Tell us more about yourself." Jess added. "Well I like to do art and take photos with my camera." Katie answered. "What kind of photos do you take?" Michelle asked. "Some nature photos of all seasons and some of me and my friends and family and some city photos and I do some reading."

"Ooh! Jason likes to do art and read as well." Jess commented. Jason nodded in agreement he was glad to have something in common with her.

"What about Sports, Do you play any?" Jackie Asked, resting her head on her palms.
"I used to play Soccer and I did some cheerleading but that was back when I was twelve." Katie answered, smiling a bit.

"Ok what about your family story?" Jess asked.
"Oh there isn't much to tell." Katie said. "Nonsense! I believe everyone has a story to tell." Jess countered kindly. "Ok Well my family movedu a lot of times over the years from Virginia, New York and even Italy and Japan and then my dad retired a few months ago and then we moved here for a fresh start. But How about you guys? "Are you guys from here?" Katie asked them.

"We're not, We're from Missouri I had Jackie and Jason and then I met Jess, we started dating and moved to an apartment and then when we married we moved here." Michelle told her.

"Oh That's so nice and romantic." Katie said kindly.

"Thank you." Michelle said smiling at her, this girl seemed very nice and respectful she liked her a-lot she'd be a nice friend or even a girlfriend for Jason.

"Ok I have a question for you two." Katie said to Jason and Jackie. "What do you guys like to do?"

"Well nothing much I personally like hanging out with mine and Jason's friends I also like playing games especially with my playing cards." Jackie said. "I personally like reading and playing games also hanging out with our friends and watching TV." Jason added.

"Katie I got a question for you How are you enjoying your move so far?" Jess asked. Katie's face fell. "Well I'm not really enjoying it right now." She confessed. The Blakes looked concerned. "Oh Why?" Michelle asked.
Katie sighed and started explaining, "Well when we got here yesterday after we got inside, I picked out my room and I was excited because I finally got what I wished for ever since I was a kid but my dad got a call from the moving company we hired they said that due to the moving truck having some issues the truck's been delayed." "Oh No.... How much is it delayed by." Jason asked. "They said it would be delayed for forty-eight hours, That was yesterday so tomorrow should be the day that they arrive but I'm worried that they wouldn't show up." Katie said despairingly. "I-I'm so sorry for asking." Jess said, placing a comforting hand on Katie's.

"It's ok you didn't know." Katie said to her kindly.

Jason felt so much sympathy for Katie for pretty much all her life she's been on the move and he assumed that she never got to have friends for a long time either and when she finally got what she wanted, there was another problem for her to deal with. He understood her feelings when he moved to Gatlinburg when he was eight years old while he isn't as outgoing as Jackie he had some friends that he hung out with and cared about and especially his grandparents while he was happy for a fresh start a part of him felt sad for the friends and his grandparents he left behind but that had happened once to him and with time he got over it Katie however never had the chance to get over it because she knew it was going to happen over and over again
until now.
Jackie didn't know what to say but she knew what she felt It reminded her back when she was eight years old when her mom and Jess told her and Jason after they got married that they were moving to Gatlinburg. Jackie remembered being upset and sad she was always an outgoing kid who had a big heart of love and loved all her friends and family dearly so her being told that she was moving so far away from them was like someone stabbing her in the heart.

But in coming weeks and months that she lived in Gatlinburg, She was able to get over it by making new friends and even though she still misses her old friends she has new ones that she loves dearly. But Katie wasn't able to get that she couldn't have when she had to move pretty much all over the earth but she could help her.

"Is there anything we can do to help?" Michelle asked placing a comforting hand on Katie's shoulder.
Katie looked inquisitively but hopeful. "Well do you know any stores to get clothes and kitchen supplies and also do you have any cleaning supplies and other things we have a few it's basically stuff we can fit into boxes but do you?" She asked, placing her hands on the table.

"We have some paint we bought some last year when the dining room wallpaper started fading and we have brooms, mops, feather dusters essentially everything." Jason said. "And there's some outlet malls and the Mountain Mall it's very good as well." Jackie added. "I'm glad to hear it Thank You." Katie said placing her hands together." Michelle placed her hand on Katie's head and brushed a stray strand out of her face. "It's not a problem Katie you're a nice girl and we'd be glad to help you if you need anything." She said. Katie hugged her she was surprised that she did it but she was so happy, Maybe This move won't be so bad after all. She was thinking.

Michelle was shocked for a little bit when Katie hugged her but she hugged her back. Katie seemed like a good kid who wanted to fit in if Michelle had to be honest she saw herself in the young girl it was a bit uncanny but it was like looking at herself when she was sixteen but it was good also she saw how she and Jason looked at each other they could make a cute couple eventually.

Soon enough Katie let go of her and Michelle did the same. "Alright Guys." Jess said. "We've got some planning to do."

Jason nodded in agreement he would help this girl she was just as nice as she thought and he remembered what is was like he would help her and now it's time to get started on helping Katie and her family.
