He knew it would happen anyway. He had long since given up on trying to prevent it. Necrozma had left him alone most of the time he spent in Kanto. The pokémon told him that he would haunt his dreams and tell him things that he didn't want to know and that's what Gladion was afraid he was about to do.

Gladion knew he was dreaming because when he "opened his eyes" (y/n) was not there with him. In fact the entire apartment was silent and Gladion could not feel the warmth of the air anymore.

"Did you miss me?" Necrozma always started off with that same phrase every time he appeared in Gladion's dreams.

"What do you want?" Gladion asked as he sat up in the couch. He knew by now that all of this was in his head.

"Well, it seems that you've come across hard times. I don't just mean here in Hoenn. There's something wrong back at home. Yes, something terrible has happened to those that you hold dear," Necrozma said in an evil sounding voice. This caught Gladion's attention for he had no real intention to listen to Necrozma to begin with until he had just said that.

"What have you done?" Gladion said, the fear evident in his voice. Necrozma laughed. Gladion still hated that laugh.

"It seems that your friends have been in an unfortunate accident. They all perished. You won't be seeing them anymore no thanks to a certain super powerful thing. The overwhelming strength that was used to kill them was just unnatural. I bet you can guess who I'm talking about. You're smart you'll figure it out. They died on the same day you left so I'm surprised that you didn't know. I was only waiting until the worst possible time to tell you this," Necrozma told him. Gladion didn't believe him though.

"You're lying. There's no way that I wouldn't have known something like that! And if you're  implying that (y/n) did this then your a sick bastard that deserves to die. She would never do something like that!" Gladion said. His level of his voice had increased with every sentence he said. Necrozma just floated in front of him still.

"Didn't you find it strange that she was late to leave Kanto. You had already made it to the ship and she was still on her way. Did you ever find it strange that she asked you what would happen to everyone back in Alola if both of you stayed away from there for too long? Did it ever occur to you that power such as hers can go to her head? You're denying it now, but later you'll see. Why don't you try calling your friends when you wake up?" Necrozma said and then he disappeared before Gladion could say anything else.

"How could you have possibility done something like that, (y/n). You were in Kanto with me. There's no way that you did that. No way. You didn't do it," Gladion said to himself, but Necrozma's reasoning was getting into his head and trying to break his logic.

Gladion didn't know why she had been late getting to the boat. He didn't know why she asked him what she did. He didn't know how much of her power she could actually control. She had made so much progress in doing so when they were in Kanto that he'd lost track of how much she could actually do.

"You didn't do it, (y/n). I know you didn't do it. Necrozma is just trying to turn me against you. When I wake up, I'll contact Lillie and then I'll know that everything is fine," he thought.

Gladion closed his eyes and reopened them. He was actually awake now. He could feel the warmth of the air and he especially felt the warmth that (y/n) gave him. She was still snuggled up close to him and her face was a little closer to his own than when he last remembered. He blushed at their closeness and then moved away from her a little only to cause her to unconsciously bury her face into his chest.

He wanted her to move though. He wanted to call Lillie right then and there so that he wouldn't have to wait until the morning, but (y/n) was sleeping so soundly that he didn't want to wake her.

Gladion looked at her sleeping face and saw nothing but the innocent long time best friend of his that had become his very own true love. He couldn't imagine her even purposefully hurting a Cutiefly.

He didn't want to go back to sleep but it was too warm and comfortable where he was for him to resist the temptation to sleep. The last thing he wanted was Necrozma haunting his dreams a second time, but (y/n)'s comforting contact made him forget all about the treacherous pokemon. He just wanted to sleep on that couch for all eternity just to make sure that (y/n) was safe.

Necrozma had already warned him in other nightmares that she would be taken away from him. He'd seen her die in countless nightmares already and it was one of the reasons why he found it so easy to fall asleep knowing that he could be punished for it.

Necrozma had a way of making things feel so real and as he thought about all of those other times he had said something an been right, he wondered if there was even the smallest possibility that Necrozma was telling the truth. He didn't let his mind dwell on it for long as he drifted off to sleep again touching his forehead to (y/n)'s.

This time there wasn't a nightmare. Instead, he was in a forest that he'd never seen before and he was carrying (y/n) on his back. She seemed to be enjoying the ride as she rested her head on his left shoulder. He didn't know why this was happening but it was better than the Necrozma infested nightmares so he didn't complain.

Timeskip brought to you by the Rune Slayer because he's the best Elsword job change!

Gladion woke up to find that (y/n) had fallen onto the floor and somehow managed to remain asleep. He got up off of the couch and picked her up gently. Then he lay her across the couch and went to retrieve a blanket from her room that a still sleeping May occupied at the moment.

When he came back he found that she had shifted in her sleep but he put the blanket over her anyway. Immediately afterwards, he went to find the phone. He dialed his sister's number and hoped that it worked. The call did not go through.

"Darn it, Lillie! Answer the phone!" he said quietly. The phone was near the couch on a side table and Gladion didn't want (y/n) waking up. He didn't want her to know that he was calling Lillie. He tried calling once more and this time the phone was answered.

"...hello? Lillie?" he nearly whispered into the phone. There was no answer. "Lillie I swear if this is a prank..." he was saying. "...Gladion?" It was his mother. What was his mother doing with Lillie's phone?

"Mother? Why do you have Lillie's..." but he stopped talking when he heard his mother crying. His mother never cried. She had only done that when his father disappeared.

"Gladion...please...please come home. I need you...she's...Lillie's gone. She's gone. I'm sorry...Gladion please come home," his mother sobbed to him.

His eyes wide with fear and disbelief, Gladion asked, "Mother...what do you mean she's gone. Where did she go?" He dreaded hearing her answer.

"You don't understand. Gladion, you're all I have left. Lillie's...she's dead," his mother said. His hands shook as he held the phone. It took everything he had not to drop it. He collapsed to the ground, the phone still in his had.

"No...Mother, no. You can't be serious. Why are you telling me this lie? Why?" he said. "Gladion don't stay there. You have to come home. You have to come home. I need to see you," she pleaded with him. He hung up the phone. He went into the bathroom and threw up into the toilet. He returned to the living room to find (y/n) awake on the couch and hyperventilating.

He rushed to her side to calm her down. Once she'd slowed her breathing to normal she looked him directly at him. "Gladion, there's something I need to tell you," she whispered. He nodded slightly for her to continue.

"It's Lillie...Gladion, Lillie's dead," she whispered as she began to cry. He stood up and walked out of the apartment. He left (y/n) there as she called after him.

He walked aimlessly for who knows how long but it wasn't until he returned to the apartment that the reality of it all really hit him. He hugged (y/n), who had been sitting against the wall. He crouched down to her level and he hugged her. It wasn't until then that he bagan to cry. He'd never cried so much in his entire life. He felt entirely helpless as he cried onto (y/n). She was crying too as he ran his fingers through her hair. "This is all my fault," (y/n) whispered.
