*Molly's POV*

After returning to Rivendell my mind was made up. I'm to stay with Thorin and the others in Erebor until Gandalf comes back with answers. Until then, I plan to remain here on Middle Earth as long as I live. I can't be apart from Thorin, hopefully not ever. We can have a life together even if that doesn't mean he will ask for my hand. He started as my best friend and to me the love of my life. How can I live in a world without him? 

Not long after we reunited we had to head for Erebor. Thorin and the others had to return as quickly as possible. There was still the fresh looming danger of the unknown enemy. Dalia was the first to be suspected and the strength of her powers was unknown just as are mine. As the others continued readying to leave I had wandered back into the courtyards of Rivendell. Standing at the threshold of the now-empty tomb of my resting place I can't help but feel a certain comfort towards it now. 

"You kept me safe all these years..." I mutter running my hand along with the wooden door "I guess that earns you some thanks."

I can only scoff at my own spoken words to a building, but, despite what has happened I can't help but at least be grateful for my safety. My mom would be thankful for it then so shall I. 

"Saying your farewell?"

I turn around to see Lord Elrond standing there with a smile. Smiling back I nod "I guess this thing will be long gone next time I'm in Rivendell. Might as well get this goodbye out of the way."

Elrond nods looking up at the structure "I must admit to you my lady that I regretted it every day. Keeping you here in your eternal slumber, but, like the Wizard and lady Galadriel, I only wished for you to remain safe. Kept you under my watch until that day when you would hopefully return to us."

Approaching the Elf I smile touching his arm "I know you had good intentions, my Lord. Honestly, I should be thanking you. Not some building."

Smirking he nods taking my hand gently "It has been an honor, my lady. I shall keep watch over you till the end of your days if you wish it."

Tearfully I squeeze his hand "Thank you Elrond. I couldn't think of a better ally."

"Safe travels my Lady. I hope to see you again."

The Company, Thorin, and I left Rivendell with all our possessions and supplies in tow. Riding on my horse I looked back over my shoulder at Rivendell. The sun shining off the rooftops and the billowing waterfalls made it seem more majestic than the first time I'd seen it. 

"Molly?"

I turn back looking to Thorin who had ridden up beside me "Are you ready?"

I nod taking one more final glance back to Rivendell. I don't know the next time I will see the grand Elven kingdom or if I ever will again but I believe someday I will. Until then I just look ahead to seeing and traveling the Misty mountains once more until my eyes can look upon the restored Erebor. 

Thorin calls the others as we cluster on our horses. I look to Thorin who gives a nod and rides ahead with the rest of us following. Heading up the mountain pass I can't help but take another glance over my shoulder. I remember around this very spot Bilbo looked back to Rivendell in the same manner except for this time it is I and not him. 

The whiny of one of the horses snaps me out of my thoughts and I'm brought back to the chatter of the Dwarves. Gloin groans "Oi, I can't wait to get back. How come we had the eagles fly us all the way here in practically a single night but now we have to make our way back to Erebor as we did so long ago?! I'm not as young as I use to be ya know."

"Gandalf said the Eagles would meet us at the end of the valley. They will take us home from there." Bofur reassures. 

Fili snorts "Gloin, 40 years is almost like four years for a Dwarf. Why must you act like such an old man?"

"Does it really feel like that?" I question the Prince "40 years feels so short?"

"No." Thorin mutters in the midst of the conversation "It does not."

Kili laughs shoving the last of a Rivendell pastry in his mouth "Ha! You're just saying that cause you missed Molly."

Growling Thorin looks over his shoulder angrily and red-faced at his nephew who slowly shoves the rest of the pastry in his mouth and looks over the hillside. Despite it annoying Thorin I can't help but smile knowing that he indeed missed me and even others could see it as well. For a moment I feel all warm inside but then it turns cold as Thorin's embarrassed gaze turns back around facing forward from me. Whatever feeling Thorin has for me I know that through the years he remained alone. I want him to be mine and only mine but now I wished that in those years he had found someone who could love him as much as I. Someone he could have started a life and family with. Someone to care for him and for him to call her his own. 

*Thorin's POV*

As the day had carried on and we had taken the new valley pass to cut across the stone mountains to Erebor, I find myself in a bit of reconciliation. I feel just as I had those many years ago when we had left Rivendell the first time. The Company in toe, Molly in the midst of them talking taking up the silent and long hours of the traveling days, but all that is missing is some members and the halfling. Still, the familiarity and the sound of her sweet voice make me smile as I lead on.

"It's so beautiful Molly." Fili says with an admirable sigh "Erebor is all we ever dreamed or heard of and more."

She laughs a little and I can hear the smile in her voice "I can only imagine. It was already so majestic and grand the first time I saw it. I can't imagine what it looks like now. Especially the Lonely Mountain."

I smile to myself and look ahead to the lush green valley fields leading us straight to the journey ahead "Not so lonely anymore."

I am typing up the rest of this story as quickly as I can so I can just post it in bulk. However, if you all would rather me post weekly chapters just comment and let me know! I will try and do whatever you wish. :)
