Chapter 49

Chapter 49: A Mother's Cry

Adeline didn't know how to react when she saw Peter Pan just sitting there on her old bed. He had a solemn face on as he just stared at her photograph.

"The Pure One huh? I always knew you had powerful magic." Peter said. His eyes didn't quiver from the photo and Adeline subconsciously placed her hand over the Pure Ones dagger. Pan didn't notice.

"How did you get here?" He questioned her and Adeline frowned at how calm he was. But nonetheless she responded.

"None of your business."

He chuckled but it was such a dry chuckle, it made Adeline's hairs stick on end. She didn't want to be there anymore. The boy in front of her was scaring her to no end.

"It is my buisness because I know you came all this way just to tell me something. Tell me, what do you want? Your freedom? My love? Wealth...?" Adeline's face turned to stone and she got a furious look in her eyes.

"I'm the heir to the throne of Oz, wealth is not my issue. And your love? Ha! You couldn't tell love from obsession if it hit you in the face." She snapped and finally Pan looked up at her. He seemed to glow brighter, and Adeline guessed it was from all the power he was receiving from the destroyed realms lands.

"And freedom? Well, who really is free under your care?" She whispered. He didn't say anything and instead grabbed another picture from the pile he had.

"I will never forgive you." As Adeline suddenly said after only seconds of silence. Peter looked up and raised an eyebrow.

"For what, might I ask?" He mused making Adeline's fire burn.

"You know what for, don't play coy. You have been destroying the realms for their magic. You even glow because of all the power. You destroyed Oz." Adeline finally managed to say. Peter had to look away when Adeline's eyes began to slightly water when talking of her fallen kingdom. And all at the hands of the man she liked.

Peter Pan said nothing. He had no excuse for what he had done, except for the fact he did it just for magic. To Adeline, that was no excuse. That was just plain selfish.

And as both of them argued and talked back and forth, niether of them could guess what Adeline's little friends were going on about now.

"She's going to kill us if she knew what we planned to do!" Alejandro said as Tiger Lily led the way.

"I agree. I didn't know her long but geez, Adeline's intimidating." Devin said and Tinkerbelle nodded.

"Too late anyways. There's Camelot's castle." Tiger Lily said. The four stopped to admire the castle. It was perfectly perfect.

"Tink, you've been here before."

"Yes, I have."

"Great. We need to get in. Might you know the person best to speak with?" Tiger Lily asked and Tinkerbelle nodded.

"Follow me." The fairy said and they all walked into the courtyard. At the door, they were stopped by two guards. All four of the teenagers noticed they were twins.

"What's your purpose?" One asked loudly and Tinkerbelle stepped up before Tiger Lily could scold at them.

"I wish to speak with Princess Emma and Prince Killian." Tink said clearly. The guard glanced at his partner and back to the four.

"Name?"

"Tinkerbelle." The fairy said and the guard nodded before opening the huge doors.

"Come along then." The guard said as he let them in. He guided them through a long hall and into a huge room where three thrones sat at the end of the room on a platform.

"Wait here. If the majesties have time to see you, they'll come in." He said before he scurried away to find the future rulers of Misthaven.

The guard, Troy, rushed into the room where all royals were having a meeting. As soon as he walked in, everyone stopped talking and turned to him. Troy instantly bowed and then straightened his back before speaking.

"Princess Emma and Prince Killian, four individuals request for a portion of your time. They await in the throne room." Troy said clearly. Everyone turned to Emma and Killian before turning back to the guard.

"Tell them we're busy. Tell them to come back tomorrow." Emma commanded and turned back to the papers they were all looking at.

Troy nodded before bowing and excusing himself.

"Your majesties." He mumbled before heading back to the throne room. The four were still there, waiting patiently.

"I'm sorry but Prince Killian and Princess Emma are very busy at the moment and don't have a moment to spare. Come back tomorrow to speak with then."

"But it's really urgent-"

"I'm sorry, they can't see you at the moment." Troy insisted but Tiger Lily wasn't having any of that.

"It'll be too late by tomorrow!"

"You must leave now!" Troy said and called for his twin, who looked slightly amused at the stubbornness of the four.

"Albert, help me out here." Troy whispered to his twin and Albert nodded before looking back at the four.

"You heard him, they can't see you today you must leav-"

"WE HAVE INFORMATION ON PRINCESS ADELINE OF OZ!" Tinkerbelle suddenly screamed. Everyone turned to her as she turned red from embarrassment. She surprised everyone by yelling, even herself. But Tink regained her confidence and looked back at the guards with narrow eyes.

"Tell the princess and prince I insist on speaking with them now! Adeline's not going to live forever!" She exclaimed and the guards gave one glance at each other before rushing to speak with the royals.

And this time they listened.

~

"My daughter nor anyone in my family has ever been claimed to be a Pure One! Hell, that doesn't even exist!" Zelena yelled as she paced the room.

Now that everyone had listened to what the four travelers had to say, all royals were dumbfounded. Zelena refused to believe that her daughter was still alive. She had already come to terms with her daughter's death and now to be told that her daughter was alive but already planning to truely kill herself, it pushed Zelena over the edge.

"Where are they now?"

"In Misthaven's castle. Only moments away from death." Tiger Lily bluntly. Tinkerbelle shot her a look but the Indian princess shrugged.

"I speak only the truth." Was her reply. Alejandro face palmed and the twin guards chuckled.

"I have to stop my daughter! She can't give her life for a monster like him!" Robin Hood said as he stood up and grabbed a cross bow. Tinkerbelle stopped him before he could leave the room.

"She isn't doing it for him, she's doing it because it's the best for everyone. Only once both are dead can peace come to all the realms. Once Pan is dead, the power that he stole from the realms will return to their proper self and everything will be restored." Tiger Lily said.

"You must know, she didn't want you all to know until this was over." Alejandro mumbled.

"And why did you?"

"Figured as her family, you should know." Alejandro said and everyone fell silent.

"Wait, where's Zelena?"

It was at that moment that everyone noticed Zelena was gone.

~

"I know what you're here to do, Adeline." Peter Pan whispered to the girl who now sat next to him.

"Do you now?" Adeline mused. Pan nodded and took a deep breath.

"And, you aren't going to stop me? Kill me? I know that was your plan all along." Adeline said and Peter let out a dry chuckle.

"It was. But apparently, my dark heart can learn to love again." He whispered. Adeline choked back a breath and refused to look at him.

"I'm not going to stop you, Adeline." He continued. The young princess looked up in surprise with wide eyes.

"Why?"

"Because if this is the only way you and I can be together with no problem, I can handle death." He responded. Adeline smiled sadly as she took out the Pure One's dagger and held it firmly in her hand. Both of them suddenly stood up and faced each other. Tears were now going down Adeline's cheeks. Peter reached over and wiped away a single tear.

"You said to die would be an awfully big adventure." Adeline stuttered through her cries. Peter Pan chuckled and they pressed their foreheads together.

"A big adventure I'm ready to experience with you."

And all they felt next was pain. But it was only for a second.

It was quicker than falling asleep.

~

Zelena Mills rushed up the courtyard and burst into the doors of the castle.

"Adeline?! Adeline, sweetheart, where are you?!" She screamed desperately as she climbed the stairs. The mother's first instinct was to check her daughter's old room.

But as she entered the only thing the other royals, who had just arrived, heard was an ear piercing scream that they came to know as Zelena's cry for her daughter's death.
